  • The Win Explorer crashes/Context Menu Popups

About 4-5 weeks, I started to have Windows Explorer freezes once or twice a day, especially when I start programs from the Start Menu. (I also use RocketDock and explore window will never block when programs start with her). I get a dialog box indicating that I have Windows restart Windows Explorer and the problem goes away. I've been tolerating this inconvenience.

About 2 weeks, popups started appearing randomly in any program was in the active window (for example, Firefox, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) without me touching my mouse. I tried to solve this problem, because it steals the focus while I type and is the most troublesome of the two. To this day, I tried withoutsuccess the following:

    -changed my mouse
-used the system restore as soon as he'd go (about 15 days)
    - virus scan with SpyBot, Adaware, Malwarebytes (all clean, with the exception of a few cookies part 3)
    -Chkdsk scan
-Disabled all non-Microsoft context menu using NirSoft ShellExView shell extensions
-One at a time, disabled Microsoft context menu shell individual extensions with ShellExView

The problem of popup context menu persisted all troubleshooting.

Apart from these two issues, which may or may not be related, my computer (a HP Pavillion) short great. All additional troubleshooting suggestions?

Thank you very much for your time and sharing your expertise.

    Merk

If you want the whole Gore story?  Although it seems that the problem of context menu is not related to Windows Explorer crashes, the tests I did apparently cleared up that, too.  He has not re-emerged in about 5 days.

While disabling the services (Microsoft and others), I came across many problems of implementation of some programmes and operation did not work properly, as one would expect.  When I excluded services as a cause and reactivate all, I started having problems with the Windows installation files.  First of all, WordPerfect would not go and had to be reinstalled, but only after using the Windows Install Clean Up Utility (WICUU) to clear the Setup done reference file.  Then, I had a Windows Update failed (for the first time) and could not install an update of Silverlight.  This problem leads to WICUU as reference to installation of Silverlight was also damaged.  (I'm sure that other installation problems will arise, but I'll take those as they come).

I don't know if, during my diagnosis, I somehow damage the installation files (do not see how that could happen) or if there is an independent issue which will be me still beset.  HOWEVER, for the moment, all is well... no crashes, no popups.

I have no idea why the Win Explorer crashes stopped.  But when it comes to Windows, I never look a gift horse in the eye.  If it is not broke, I ain't trying to fix.  For the time being.

    Thanks again for your help.

  • Cannot install Wireless Adapter (card NETWORK or USB key) to the Pavilion p6340a Win 7 Home Prem

I removed a work card TP-Link to a Pavilion a1300a XP Home PC network to put in my Pavilion p6340a Win 7 (64-bit) Home Prem PC.

Download and install the current drivers of TP-Link.
Installed everything well and the adapter can be seen in sub "Change adapter settings" in network and sharing Center and shows as working properly in Device Manager, but it is not recognized as a network within the network and sharing Center.

Under "Manage wireless networks'" nothing appears, if I then click on Add"then manually create network profile" "I then get an informative message '" an unexpected error occurred'. "

Suspect a problem with the NETWORK card, I uninstalled it and its drivers and tried to install a USB wireless adapter with the same exact result and the error message. It seems that there must be an OS problem or something stopping the wireless to work. USB adapter both NIC work properly when installed on the former Pavilion a1300a XP Home PC. NETWORK card and USB adapter are the current drivers for Win7.

All the ideas it driving me crazy. A simple 5 minutes on any other PC task turned into many.many hours without solution.

After many hours of uninstall re install & try everything under the Sun in many forums, I finally found a solution. Despite trying with firewall disabled at different times was the final fix

    1. Uninstall NETWORK card and USB drivers and devices.
    2. Then uninstall the AntiVirus (in this case AVG Internet Security)
    3. Reinstall the NETWORK card and drivers
    4. Reinstall AntiVirus

Tried the USB adapter as well so that the antivirus has been uninstalled and installed no. with problems.

    Everything works very well.

  • Win computer crashed to Mac. You need to install Lr - how?

I need to install Lr 4 in a Mac platform after that Win computer crashed. I just want to install on a computer, Mac. Can I do this? I hope so, because it does'nt seems not just to purchase a new license. Thank you.

Once you have the available license key. If your LR 4 license key is an upgrade then you will need an earlier version, the license also key.

The license agreement allows two installs havening with use at any point in time. The key is cross-platform PC & or Mac. There is no enable / disable required as Photoshop CS or elements so that you can install on a uninstall of an another as many times as necessary.  Your PC catalog file with the extension .lrcat (LRCAT) is also compatible with PC & and/or Macif it always available.

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

The error occurs because there is a problem with this application.

I did some research and I am unable to find such a program with this name that is popular and reputable.

Having said that, I also found some virus/malware that uses this name.

Search your computer for threats/viruses using these free tools:

    -> ESET Online Scanner

    http://support.eset.com/kb2921/?locale=EN_US & viewlocale = en_US

I've got profiles you bird (I save them weekly) and you bird was now back to normal, so now that I'm OK.

So, I'm now beginning to wonder. Suggestions, please?

OK Matt, your argument is convincing.
I'm probably too old to try to move away from Windows to an alternative or a Mac, so I guess I'll have to continue to live with that sort of thing. Email is really important to me then maybe it is time to do everything in the cloud.

  • HP Pavilion 15 Win 8.1 brightness does not change the question

    Hello

I have this model of laptop - HP Pavilion e017tx. I just upgraded to 8.1 Win. Faced the problem of explorer.exe when stopping. Now after this, I face the problem of brightness adjustment!

I am not able to change the brightness of this laptop since the function keys or the control panel? What continues?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

Hey thanks for the reply! ... I actually already had correct/more drivers later for video.

The solution for me was to re - install the drivers of HP system event... I am now able to adjust the brightness. I was hoping that the upgrade to 8.1 win to win 8 would be nice and simple straighforward, but there are many of these little problems that keep popping up after the upgrade. URL compatibility which provided HP says that the laptop is compatible or not, but in the job or the guide, they should mention in detail (if possible for all / most of the hardware configurations) on what to expect and what drivers to reinstall or upgrade etc. after upgrade to 8.1 Windows

  • HP Pavilion p245sa: HP Pavilion decommissioning win 8.1 for Win 7 32 bit 64 bit

Sorry for the long post essentially brought a HP PAVILION p245sa laptop to replace the desk at work but none of any of my medical equipment works with the laptop.  The laptop is 64-bit but the software and hardware only works with 32-bit windows. I got intouch with the manufacturers and they have confirmed that they do ABOUT 64-bit support. Among the material I'm using is a canon camera, however they can't all the 32-bit drivers for it.

While the laptop came with 64-bit WINDOWS 8.1, I thought once win 10 lot, I may be able to change the fuse, but no. Win 10 did nothing.

I installed Windows Vista AND Windows 7 32 bits, but the USB port, ethernet, WiFi drivers do not work. I tried to install the 64-bit original to win 8.1 drivers but they do not install it. Later, I tried to find the equivalent drivers for 32 bit by just googling. IE, I downloaded a 32-bit driver for Broadcom ethernet Web Lenova site, but it does not work either. So basically when I installed win 7 32 bit, what worked was cd player that's all.

I have restored the laptop completely, return to the factory restore now so there win 8.1 again, but I read someone else without decommissioning. If anyone can direct me, that will be great. !!!

Just FYI, I got in touch with microsoft, who can help, cat of hp who say they can't stand not anything outside of victory 8.1 or higher and got in the currys touch which are just a pain!

    Hello:

You should be able to use all the W7 32-bit drivers and software from the HP Probook 450 G2 on your model.

Do not use the BIOS and firmware files well.

    Hello:

You need the driver for this device.  You may need to install manually if auto installation does not work.

This package provides the driver for the NVIDIA nForce Chipset in the notebook models and operating systems.

  • HP Pavilion running Vista system crashes then it said 'cannot find Windows.

I have a HP Pavilion otherwise very satisfied with Vista and installed Service Pack 2. Lately, unfortunately, the machine often accidents / crashes. Sometimes, the problem is resolved after you restart Windows. But more often, when I try to reboot normally, or via Ctrl/AltDel or removal of complete power, an error message appears back, indicating "cannot find Windows. I think I have a problem of HARD drive and/or a little defective internal power connections. But since I still have a lot of free space on the HARD disk, I prefer not to scrap it. However, if it 's the drive itself that has a problem, I would consider that replace it with a new one. Anyone out there with some thoughts on this?

  • Secondary screen on laptop Pavilion under Win 8.1

I attach an external (Benq senseye) to my Pavilion laptop without problem but...

How to Exchange on sides of the external monitor attached to my Pavilion laptop running Windows 8.1?

By default, it expects the external display which will be located to the right of the laptop, which is good for right-handed people, but left-handed, he's not :-)

In the previous laptop computers HP running XP and Vista there is an option to select the sides of the outer screen but to win 8.1 it seems not to be or I can't find it :-(

is it a 8.1 Win or a HP 'characteristic '?

  • Win XP crashes after the splash screen (charge PointSec)

I have a laptop lenovo t400, which has Pointsec Encryption (6.1.3), and WinXP loaded thereon.

I ran the update tool think that Vantage Lenovo that has downloaded and installed a number of updates - I didn't run it for centuries.

Now when I try to start the computer it crashes after the XP splash screen is displayed. Simply, the screen goes black.

I tried the options Mode safe (include VGA Mode and start with the last successful configuration) without success. Also, they fail to start.

    The flow rate is:

Power On, screen authentication PointSec, Win XP Splash screen, and then a black screen

I got successfully into the system using UBCD4Win with pointsec plugin loaded, load a WinPE environment on a USB and allows me to access the C: drive unencrypted (as I've authenticated with Pointsec).

I'm really stuck for ideas as to the update is the cause of the problem and I'd love to hear some suggestions on how to remedy this situation.

    --

    Additional information:

The last lines in ntbtlog.txt is:

Not load the parallel driver live

Did not load driver bios SM service

Did not load driver SM bus service

    Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Cdfs.SYS

    Search:

    c:\Windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$

Looks like that Service Pack 3 has been installed:

    File: spuninst\spuninst, inf shows:

    NtServicePackVersionText = "Service Pack 3".
    NtServicePackPreviousVersionText = "Service Pack 2".

    Fixed!

The problem has been updates to lenovo (probably guilty being the video driver that I presume).

Using UBCD4Win with pointsec plugin I was able

    * Access to the decrypted c:

    * Restored manually updates to c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\system32\drivers

Original files have been found in places like: c:\windows\system32\reinstallbackups\008\DriverFiles

    * Finally, I had to roll back updates of the register who did the updates. UBCD4Win offers a tool to do this: the registry Restore Wizard. He basically just look in c:\System Volume Information System Restore directory and lists all the Restore Points available (Fortunately the Lenovo updates mark a restore point until they run). You can also do it manually using the following instructions:

    http://hypography.com/forums/tutorials-and-how-tos/17193-XP-recovery-instructions-for-UBCD4Win.html

This makes the system successfully booted.

I've most definitely will be staying clear after you press the big blue button in the future. It was a nightmare to fix.
