  I did a site in Adobe Muse and would like to password protect pages. Ideally, having to type a password every time the URL is available (i.e. If someone copy/pastes the link, they would still have to type the password). Also, I would another user name and passwords for each page. If anyone knows how to create a directory in Muse also, that might solve all my problems.

  Here's where I came up short so far:

  -First Solution: Use the htaccess and htpasswrd

  Muse has created all its pages with no subdirectory and no option to create a subdirectories. This is how most of the forums described the problem. When I downloaded the files "htaccess" and "htaccess" in the area, it caused an error on the home page.

  -It doesn't have to be super safe, but would like to make is not readily available to the public URL.
  -The pages will have links to a DropBox, that will all change a few months. Which means I'll have to make updates on the site. Would prefer to have only update my Muse file when this happens.

  In Business Catalyst, you can add the user to the client tool and then you can subscribe them to the secure area.

  They will receive an email sent to them to confirm and implement a password.

  You can also do it by using a form, that the person meets.

  The initial screen (after login) is a tree style menu.
  
  By clicking on the menu items, users are sailed to other pages in the same application.

  I'm working on a proposal to set up an area of protcted password of the customer site (containing a list of the members) and understand there are different ways to do this.

  As I understand the simplest way, and one that I have done, is to password protect a directory on the server host. The disadvantage with this, seems, is that there is a universal user name and password that have been assigned to the directory, each user has to use. In other words, they cannot choose their own username and different password for everything everyone elses.

  So my question is, what are the other options to password protect a page or a directory on a site? I don't consider myself a great expert so simple would certainly be better for me.

  I've set up a test page on my own website - password - test.html, downloaded from my site from Adobe Muse via FTP again and then the password file test.html in a folder called password.

  First, I tried the following:

  Note: I put the .htpasswd file (it's encrypted) in the root public_html not for 2 reasons:

  1) the author says he's more sure.

  2) I had no idea how to write the path if she was in the password file in the public_html.

  None are to some extent .htaccess and such things. I'm afraid you have a fundamental misunderstanding here. The simple answer is that what you want can be done with HTML simply and no access to the back-end server. What you have is simply a set of rules for the file and access to records, but without real authentication or encryption. Seriously, you need to consider using a dynamic interface.

  Muse does not support this natively, but you could password protect the page with a simple cut and paste javascript - see this article: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cut10.shtml

  That should allow you to lock certain pages, and you can then provide a password for your users. You could also change the password every month, protect the directories/different sections of the site and so on.

  The idea behind this is that the link goes the seller ID in the query string to a dynamic page that bed code and uses that, WHERE a query in a SQL clause. You can try to use the master-detail for this server behavior, or code yourself. This will allow you to dig into the list of instrument for the contact information of the seller. Of course, we should not apply the behavior of Restrictoin to access to the page of the seller. You could get fancy and dynamically change the link so that unregistered users, he would say "Paid members only" and clicking on would bring them to the registration area.

  Store images or binary data in a database is no longer a suggested method, because it can lead to problems of poor performance. The recommended method is to download the file on the file system of the server and then store a link to this file in the database. That solved your problem else too - it is easy to provide a link to a popup window to display the image.
