Excessive RAM usage

Hello
Recently, I noticed that, even when my PC has been left Idle, 2.37 GB of Ram was used...
While my friends have one use of 500 MB.
I'd really like to reduce this use. Thank you
More information: my laptop: HP Pavilion g6. 6 GB of Ram, 1 GB dedicated graphics card, 64-bit

AP

It is not because of the RAM.  You are not even 50% of yours so much is gone.  Late development can be caused by many things including networking, a corrupt driver, etc.

First of all, I would like to check your network connection by running a speedtest (speedtest.net).  The download speed is as important as the download.

For the time of latency, I ran these 2 free applications

  • 1 Web site increases ram usage until Firefox slows, then crashes...

Week or two ago FF33 started to have nits and jerky, gel and then crashed. I went through many support troubleshooting tips p (it comes crashing at this point) pages, uninstalled FF33, deleted files FF, that I could find, which was not all files, installed FF35 FF33, same result.

Finally found my ram usage is high and paid attention to this. Reduced to 1 site constantly running up to the use of the ram. Regardless if 1 or 30 tabs of this Web site are open. If 1 tablet Omnium ram goes until it crashes. If none are open from this site, FF is fine. I've been on this site for many years without problems and really need to access.

Any ideas how to solve the cause of that specific Web site?

    Thank you.

Long answer, posted, empty response is entered. Anyway, great FF now.

  • Excess data usage survey

Comcast, my ISP, send me notice of excessive use of data. As far as I KNOW, nothing has changed, but the data usage continues. Things I've tried so far:

1 installed band bandwidth + on our two iMacs. At first glance, it seems to come from my Mac. So I did a complete reinstall of Mac OS X 10.11.2 and reinstalled all the apps (ugh!). I thought that this solved, but additional use of data GB (!) 40 arrived the day after.

2 wifi password changed. I have an an Airport Extreme network, with an old Airport Extreme and Airport Express Terminal two last generation connected by Ethernet to extend the wifi network. This network is unchanged for many months before the excess data usage report. Don't think that anyone can participate in the network due to the distance between the houses. Change the password for the wifi should eliminate this possibility remote.

I know that the last Airport Extreme removed SNMP (booo!) so there is no easy way to identify the data using the source. I have a number of different home devices connected either wired or wireless entertainment. I know I can disconnect all devices and connect one at a time to try to identify the bad but it of a last resort and does not take a lot of time. Someone know another tool or approach to identify the guilty of excessive use of data?

    Thanks for all the ideas.

Buy a cheap router that supports Gargoyle packages. You can buy something like a WNDR3800 on ebay as cheap as chips. New I would buy a v2 WR1043ND TP-Link (not v3 to verify in the shops, the number and the version is printed under the bar code) I'm not allowed to give you the URL of firmware Gargoyle then google it. (apple let me say much but not reference.. strange!) The store may also sell you a pre a flashed.

This router can then give you a breakdown of the total use and how that much each article on your network is running.

He will have to take over as the main router... but your main AE can be filled to him and the rest of the network will work fine.

This makes it extremely easy not just see what is used, but more important still to fight against it.

Hi, my lenovo B50-80 ram usage is too high. It is around 80-90%.but why is this? It slows down. This problem occurs for a few days. It is 30-40% on the previous usage. But in recent days, he has suddenly increased to 80-90%. It slows down the laptop. I have not installed any program in these last days.what to do?

    Hi Johanna,.

Alternatively, you can try to uninstall the applications that consume more memory, which is not used frequently, if still the same issue trying to run the diagnostics of the LSC (Lenovo Solution Center).

  • Why minimize a window reduce RAM usage in an exe?

I've noticed this since LV8.5 (I am currently using LV2010 with IMAQ 4.5), that whenever I reduce my exe, the use of the RAM in the Task Manager Windows decreases considerably.  My exe charge and discharge lots of images and the RAM usage goes up to about 500 MB for the exe file.  As soon as I reduce the window of the exe, it falls to about 13 MB.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

    Thank you

    Bruce

It is very likely that when you reduce your application, Windows decided to the page the largest part of this memory to disk, because the application is probably not used actively. Therefore, Windows decides to recover the memory for other applications.

You can test this by showing the column virtual memory in Windows Task Manager. There, you see all of the paged memory that your application uses. Your application always uses the same amount of memory, but Windows can store in the virtual memory on your hard drive until it takes again.

  • High CPU and RAM usage - laptop Dell w / Vista

    Hello

I have read several posts and tried many suggested fixes, but none seems to work so far.

Hardware: Dell Inspiron 1525, with 3G of RAM

Operating system: Vista Home Edition Premium, SP2

Problem: CPU high (~ 50%) and RAM usage (~ 50%) when ideling.  I did both a "clean boot" and boot into "Safe Mode with network" and neither seemed to make much difference and certainly has not resolved the problem.

When I go to the 'task manager' is a process "svchost.exe" system which is the eater of resources.  I can move the tab "services", but I'm not really sure how to use the information presented.  This is where I'm stuck, as I said, I read a few other posts with similar (but not identical/software) and I've tried a few things but do not seem to be able to solve the problem.  Please let me know what the next logical steps are at this address.  Thank you.

  • I would like to get this right... adding assets to the Library increases RAM usage?

I'm almost done with a fairly large RPG containing more than 2000 bitmap resources and music.  When I run this app in iOS, Android or on PC, my RAM usage is well above 100 MB. I have no script code.  The game is divided into about 100 classes AS3 (1 per level).

As an experiment, I deleted all my code and packed an app 'empty '.  My RAM usage is always greater than 100 MB.  This leads me to believe that my entire libraray is loaded into RAM at the spearhead of my application.

Is there a way to control or prevent this?  Class Loader? External assets EFA?

Everything you have built in your application is loaded into memory when the application is deployed. There is nothing you can do about it.

SWC will not help. CFC is used, primarily, as an external when creating library and all of the objects referenced in the creation will be always compiled into the application unless you use RSL and load additional libraries when running. By checking "merged into code" you always ask the compiler to include all assets. If you merge in code - you will need to write the logic that loads libraries during execution.

The main issues in your case, it's that you compile media files in the application. Videos, sounds and, to a lesser extent, the images are the biggest hogs memory. You must load them during execution - do not include them in your application. In particular, it comes to sound files - Flash is very good runtime playback/streaming.

When I say "runtime loading" I don't mean not necessarily load from the network/Internet. Given that you develop mobile applications (I guess with air)-you can write these assets in the file system during installation and then recover as needed.

  • Excessive CPU usage during online streaming

    Hello!

First of all, let me tell you how great it is to have a support forum for my new laptop.

I have a couple of things that maybe someone knows a lot more than myself will not be able to help me with (I hope)

The first thing is (and the title of this thread):

CPU use excessive multimedia Youtube streaming while.

During playback of a standard video stream of You Tube, the processor in the Task Manager is erratic to say the least. The indicator CPU usage jumps upwards to 85%, and during playback, causing the stream to "stutter".

I use the latest versions of FireFox (17.0.1) and Adode Flash plug in (11.05 r502) even though I know You Tube will flow its media using HTML5, without the need for the Shockwave plugin.

    The second thing is:

    Slow system

I haven't used this laptop since I bought it new in July 2012. I recently needed to use and found that the entire system is extremely slow.

I haven't used internet on this computer until today. The software I used is media production tools. However, open the Control Panel, start remote system, using Windows Explorer, any task seems incredibly slow.

    The third thing is:

Start of this laptop seems to use about 1.2 GB of Washington.

If someone has any advice they could give me it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers, Dave

Nice that you share your experience with your laptop, but I will say a:
You take on the laptop but no one knows what model of laptop you have exactly.

    > CPU usage excessive while Youtube multimedia streaming.
    > During playback of a video stream standard You tube, the processor in the Task Manager is erratic to say the least. The indicator CPU usage jumps upwards to 85%, and during playback, causing the stream to "stutter".
    > I'm using the latest versions of FireFox (17.0.1) and Adode Flash plug in (11.05 r502) even though I know You Tube will flow its media using HTML5, without the need for the Shockwave plugin.

This happens because of the Forefox or the plug-in for the Forefox.
Maybe you should try another internet browser

How about new installation OS, system using CCleaner and disabling context is not necessary cleaning processes?
Processes that are running in the background may be checked in MSCONFIG disabled
But as this feature is recommended for advanced users only, you mustn't touch him without knowing what to do.

Do you think that this value is false, or maybe the operating system uses for a lot of RAM?

  • RAM usage

My question is simple; I use high memory ("memory used" in activity monitor) which is about 3.8/4 GB, with only chrome running. My memory usage is low among the Green and I saw never even go to yellow. My only concern is that there is only 0.2 GB left for other applications to operate; is there too much to be used or is this normal and it causes slowdowns?

Chrome is a pig, to start... it uses more RAM than other web browsers.  (Green) indicates that the RAM is enough to not cause too many bottlenecks.  And OSX will use as much RAM he thinks is necessary, using the swap file on the storage (HD or SSD) to save on segments of RAM that are less active.

More RAM might help the system to run faster, but the 'green' tells you your system is not "strangled".

  • My ram usage varies a lot

I was not opening or closing entire app at the time wherever I keep watching just an evolution of the use of ram.

This is why it seems odd.

the process tab not not said me what app was using a lot of ram.
don't you think it might be a sign of a virus infection?

where do you think that this come from?

If you CTRL ALT DEL, you open the Task Manager and sort by memory use processes.

You can watch that and see if you can make note of the processes and programs that roam up and down in use.

Also, try to see if this same memory usage occurs when you are running in safe mode.  If not, or not so much, you can adjust some programs not to run by unchecking them via msconfig typed the command run.

I guess there are some despicable applications, you need to uninstall.

You mentioned the possible virus or other infections, a clear sign of their applications fail, your browser has a lot of pop-up windows or page addresses you enter are redirected to other pages.

You run a program like AVG AV update and 2 different spyware/malware removal programs such as SpyBot Search and Destroy and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

If you find infections.  Remove your restore definition - point turn of restore points, start in safe mode, run your AV scans and spyware or malware, then do it again in normal mode.  Some programs to hide in files locked by the Restore Points.

Good luck!  Keep us updated on your solution!

  • Veeam Monitor and RAM usage

I installed and did experiments with free Veeam Monitor to keep an eye on my ESX 3.5 server. He has been telling me that ESX memory usage is greater than 75%. Is there a threshold where I should add more RAM, or 75% an acceptable threshold?

You know better your workload. If there is no unpredictable spikes and you won't have to add a large number of virtual machines in the near future, then all is ok.

Check the swap and balloning for virtual machines. There is not enough memory when Ball > 0, but in some cases, it is always acceptable. It depends on the workload.

  • LabVIEW 2016 high RAM usage

I just upgraded to LabVIEW LabVIEW 2015 2016. Previously, I had no problem of memory. With 2016, however, even though I have a few screws open, rest, only LabVIEW uses 3 GB of my RAM. As I only have 4 GB, it slows down my computer to a crawl. Everyone knows these problems with 2016 or someone has a solution to reduce the amount of RAM LabVIEW requires? Thanks for the help.

One of my colleagues has some portable "cheap" that are configured in the same way with minimum memory (4 GB).  Even when you are running Windows XP (which, in my view, is smaller and needs less RAM than, say, Windows 08/07/10), it has been very slow to do anything (can you say 'Wait 5 minutes for the OS to load'?).

When Windows is "do its thing" correctly, it usually creates a swap file so that the software can use more than 4 GB of storage space for himself.  As I have indicated in my answer, LabVIEW 2016, when loading, seems to take a small fraction of this (a few hundred MB), even with the open code diagrams and block.  However, if your PC takes several minutes to start, runs very slowly in doing routine tasks and is an 'old' or ridiculously short of memory, it may be wise to (a) upgrade your memory (if you can), or (b) to upgrade your PC to the less a machine with 8 GB.  Remember, you use the PC to run LabVIEW, a solid programming / Data Acquisition/Platform Instrument I/O, surf the Web, send e-mail, or (hmm, I was going to say 'play', but games moves too, and tend to put more demands on the LabVIEW PC material, so both worse...).

  • How can I connect my RAM usage?

Using XP 64 bit but you want to go back to 32 bit, because so many drivers do not exist for XP 64-bit. Don't like Win7.

I was wondering if I should switch my 2 ram to 4 GB. Is it possible to forestry in the use of the ram on a few hours or a few days to see how I'm maxing out my DDR-2 2 GB 800 mhz ram?

Also, if I use 3 GB of ram in the new motherboard, it will run in single channel mode? Is this a big deal? I don't mind buying 2 x 2 GB of ram so it can operate in mode dual channel - or will it if it only covers about 3 GB in 32-bit mode?

Also, energy will go up a lot with 4 GB vs 2 GB ram?  The new ram is DDR-3 1366 or 1600 mhz well.)

I have read/ran all those scripts and they don't tell you everything that you find already sneak to the registry.

All they seem to do so make sure you don't have to look at the registry to see what are some basic settings and change them if you wish.

It also does not include a swap file that is managed system - but that the substance is almost 10 years old and more.

If your system can accommodate 4 GB and you can afford it, get the best and fastest 4GB will host your motherboard (for 32-bit, XP).  This is the best that you can do and should be adeauate and wide.  Then you will never need to ask if your system has a sufficient memory.  If you have 4 GB, there is no way that more can help you.

If you want a better idea of what options you have to go to crucial.com and they will tell you all about your options based on your motherboard (which is an important variable that is currently unknown based on your entry) and you can read about what are your options... and they have already found all this stuff with their memory Advisor.  Their tech support isn't bad either.

You need more power?  I don't know - how many do you have now?   I do not think that you can cheat or never suffer or need to worry with 550W, but you could spend $25 or $700 on a PSU if you want.

  • Excessive CPU usage

Windows Vista: CPU goes to about 50% of use regularly and the fan operates at high speed.  This occurs with any running application.  Manager tasks indicates System Idle Process at 90 to 94 percent, still 2 to 4 percent for the Task Manager, and several other alternate 1% each, but the CPU usage is stable at 40 to 50 percent.  Sometimes, this is Windows defender causing the it and drops of CPU usage down to normal after he stops his scan or I get impatient and stop the service.  Most of the time, however, it is not caused by windows defender.

Anyone have any idea which takes up my CPU?  It's really annoying because it kills the performance of the software I'm running.  Any suggestions? (and no, windows 7 is out of the question).

    Lame Hi Willie,

1 when was the last time it was working fine?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

  • RAM usage continues to go to the top

    Vista sp2, 32-bit, MSE, Comodo FW / J +.

    Hello.
When I turn the PC on the RAM is about 30% (as he always did), but shortly after, he starts to rise without apparent reason. After a few hours of use, it is up to 45% (with no applications running). If I reboot it goes back to 30%, and soon he began to go up.
My configuration of security (as shown above) has been the same for 10 months and there is no other real-time running programs.
This situation started 5 weeks ago and I don't remember making any changes which may have caused this.
