• Missing icons on the open file dialogue box

I am running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit). All updates applied.

Problem: When you use the dialog box open file - some file/folder icons are missing. Not that big of a deal, but introduce that dialog open file in an application they may crash. I think this may be the cause.

Details: When I use Windows Explorer, everything seems as it should be in the Navigation pane. For example, I see Favorites and Desktop under Favorites. The desktop icon is correct. Everything is as it should be. If I open Wordpad, and then select file open, the dialog box is, once again, as it should. All the icons displayed. However, if I open Word 2007 and select the open file, there is a strange icon for the office and most of the other items under Favorites, some of my libraries display one appropriate icon, others do not. In the right pane (where the files are listed), there are no icons for files at all, they are simply empty. I can select the files, then open them, everything works, just no icons. It is not only the Microsoft Office applications that illustrate this. If I open the VLC media player, select media, open a file. I have the same thing (missing icons).

I could live with that, but it seems to cause some applications (applications specifically Flash) to hang when I try to open the files. For example, if I try to upload a photo to Snapfish.com using the Flash application, it crashes every time than IE when the open file dialog box opens. Exactly the same happens using the Chrome browser. Everything works fine as long as I do not open the open file dialog box.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Hello Jonathan Moeller.

There are a few additional troubleshooting steps that we could proceed to isolate or fix this problem. Just to inform you beforehand, if in fact it is malicious viral content on your system or base operating system files are potentially corrupt. I might suggest a repair installation. This would be the last option or suggestion.

-Open the prompt (run as administrator) and type SFC/scannow

-Create an another user account (Admin) and check if in fact you are still having this problem

-Turn your computer into a cleanboot scenerio to isolate if a 3rd party service is potentially the first cause of this issue. Here are the steps...

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

ClickStart

type msconfig in theSearch box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Step 2: Configure selective startup options

1. in theSystem Configuration utility dialog box, click Selective startup on thegeneral tab.

2 clear theLoad Startup items check box.

Note The check boxuse the Boot file is not available.

3. click on theServices tab.

4. Click to select thehide all Microsoft Services check box.

5. click ondisable alland then click OK.

6. When you are prompted, clickrestart.

-In addition, please try to rebuild the indexing function. Here are the steps...

1. go into the Control Panel.

2 display All the items from Control Panel by changing the parameter display by in the upper right corner of thelarge icons or small iconscategory.

3. Select Indexing Options.

4. click on the Advanced button.

5. when the UAC prompt appears, click continue.

6. in the Troubleshooting section, click on the button to rebuild

-In addition, each local user account have their Iconcache.db file or database is located at c:\users\Username\appdata\local\iconcache.db. Please remove this file. However, it is preferable that you simply follow the steps below. Everything must be simple to follow.

Re-create the file icon-Cache by deleting

1. Each user has its own file named Iconcache.db: USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Iconcache.db
2. Close all the explorer.exe process using the Task Manager (or else it will create a bad file during the closing session/restart)... Go to the processes tab and locate explorer.exe and right-click on it and select end process tree tree/end of tasks
3. Use the Task Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) to launch the explorer.exe again... Once you open the Task Manager, click file, new task. type 'explorer.exe '... All of your icons should reappear with the taskbar. You may need to shut down or restart your computer. Please check if you are able to see your icons with success.

If you please follow on this thread at the earliest, I would be very happy. I look forward to hear from you. Have a great day.

Thank you

• Missing icons and the system restore failed with the error code: 0xc0000022

More a cosmetic problem, but it is annoying me. I wonder if anyone can help.

I'll try to explain what happened and explains the steps that I tried to solve.

At the launch of windows, after connection, some icons began to miss on the desktop. Below, these appear to be programs of Microsoft and Apple.

If I choose to properties and then change icon... from the office, I get the following error:

Icons for mainly products of Microsoft and Apple are also missing from the start menu.

However, if I go into properties here, the change icon... button is grayed.

It happened once before. I tried to run the system restore. The last time I did this the system restore said have failed - however, the icons were restored. I tried the same thing again once, however the system restore has not (yet), but this time, the icons are still missing.

I tried to create a new user, but the new account also has the missing icons. I also ran a full virus scan (Avast) and Windows Defender, but they found nothing.

While not a huge problem, it's annoying, and I wonder if it points to a bigger hidden problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kevin,

I wish that you open the elevated command prompt and run these commands.

ie4uinit.exe - ClearIconCache

Taskkill /IM explorer.exe/f

DEL "% localappdata%\IconCache.db" /A

Shutdown /r /f/00 t

a hard reset would bring back my apps?

Help, please

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

If this does not work, then please go back and try to explain more fully what happens. Some details help prevent us to guess. For example, what level of BB OS are you on? What things are missing - icons or apps (you said both)? How do you know they are missing? If they are apps, how do you know that the software is still installed?

• file ipa iOS missing icons using animate CC & AIR 22

Ahoy,.

I'm iOS apps in CC animate and export by air. I don't use Builder, Flex or terminal in compile, just what is integrated to animate. I made a bunch of them in that way and all worked fine until the update of Animate 15.2.1.95.

The last update seems to be missing icons in the ipa file. When I download on Apple with the application loader, I get these errors:

-ITMS-90032 ERROR: "path of the invalid Image - no image found at the location referenced under key"CFBundleIconFiles": 'icon - 167.png'.

-ITMS-90032 ERROR: "invalid Image - no image found at the location path listed under key"CFBundleIconFiles":"[email protected]"

-ITMS-90032 ERROR: "invalid Image - no image found at the location path listed under key"CFBundleIconFiles": 'icon-small - 50.png'.

-ITMS-90032 ERROR: "invalid Image - no image found at the location path listed under key"CFBundleIconFiles": 'icon-small - 40.png'.

-ITMS-90032 ERROR: "path of the invalid Image - no image found at the location referenced under key"CFBundleIconFiles": 'icon - Small.png'."

-ITMS-90022 ERROR: 'missing required icon file. The package does not contain an icon of the app for iPhone / iPod Touch exactly ' 57 x 57' pixels, to the format .png for iOS versions < 7.0. »

All these files are included in the project and the xml at the time of the export file, but then when I change the .zip to .ipa extension and look inside, they are absent. I tried this with multiple applications and all have the same result. I also tried 23 AIR beta, same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated and let me know if you need more info.

Thank you very much!

-conor

Success!

Here's what I did:

-Uninstalled animate CC

-Installed Animate CC which came with AIR 21.0

-A new look for iOS project underway

-Copy and paste the content to the new project the previous file

-Changed the names of icon previous numbers just like how you had them, so e.g. "Icon-small - 50.png" to just "50.png".

-Published to the app store and downloaded

Now that was my second attempt after reinstallation.

The first attempt I does not change icon names and got an error of the icon:

I have always used the name of previous icon, but I wonder if it is what was messing things up in the last update.

in any case thank you yet once again, I really appreciate it!

• Imported bookmarks from Chrome missing icons

I was able to import my favorites of Chrome. Chrome, had more small icons next to their title. Here is the tiny photo icon that a site next to his name on a website. After importing Firefox, most of the icons gave. But I don't see one. Isn't time to go through each of them.
When the import box displays, it showed 3 choices; History, Cookies, bookmarks. I chose only the bookmarks. Do you know if the icons would be found in "cookies"? I don't think, because I delete cookies frequently. Puzzled why the icons are missing. All I see are small empty boxes to the left of each bookmark.

You can visit a bookmark to retrieve the favicon of Firefox.

Try reloading the favicons with the FavIcon Reloader extension
You can find "Reload-icons of Favorites" in the bookmarks menu.

• Sound missing icons of Google Translate

When I go to Google Translate, the audio button icons are missing. I don't know why that should be, because the icons are well in other browsers. My installation of Firefox is new, is there a setting I'm missing?

When I visit Google Translate, the Shockwave Flash plugin is used for sounds. I don't see on your list of plugin. Could it be disabled (set to 'never activate')? You can check that on the page modules. Either:

• CTRL + SHIFT + a
• Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > Add ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. No matter which cluster disabled plugins at the bottom of the list.

If your version of Flash is old, you may need to update before it can be activated. I'm sure you know the drill: uncheck all the unwanted extras before you download: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Hi all

The problem, I got strechted to the point that I was able to download screenshots. He showed a wheel that rotates, which does not stop. Ultimately he said have transferred the contents, nothing to see, however. I tried for several days, same result. Empty the cache, cookies etc. made no difference, so I gave up. Later, I resorted to the button "Reset FireFox" in solving problems. Important data seem to be kept, then why can't not? And it worked! Some XSL parameters should not be made again, but other than that no prooblems more. BTW the uploaded image is now also show...

Hope this helps, thanks to you all

• Missing icons for PC from A1020N a webpage (P4 3.0 Ghz System)

I am writing to inform that I found a solution to the problem PC I mentioned earlier (see below). And thanks to angry. I followed his suggestions to try I explore reset settings by default, and then saw my Yahoo email, and he's looking for a lot better now. I also tried a few other sites, where I think I had seen the problem occur before. These look now much better. What's left to do is, of course, do a reconfiguration of the I have the settings of Explorer. I'll get to that in the coming days. Thank you still angry.

Williamg3

Since I bought this PC there is an all-in-one printer (Officejet 5610) and some years some time later, I was pleased with their use; they have been working well. However, more recently and while browsing Web sites, I often notice that some Web page icons are missing (IE 8.0, Win XP SP3). For example, an icon to use on a Web page for the application by clicking 'continue' or 'send' is not visible. If slowly, I scan the pointer of the mouse on the page, I can sometimes detect an icon that appears for the pointer turns into a hand. But obviously I don't know the nature of this particular icon (even though I guessed right a few times)!

As I was using my PC this way for many months, I discovered that the issue becomes more problematic. This is particularly true, for example, because I started to use a newer version of my mail service (Yahoo). In this case, a number of icons appear, including the checkmarks for messages that have been selected, or beating Pavilion. In addition, after I started to use the new version of e-mail, a Yahoo message appeared, informing me that something is wrong with the display. The message advised to double check that I was using a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, because the mail system would show not well otherwise. I double checked the display properties, and I actually use this level of resolution. That is what is wrong / does not work properly!

However, and as I mentioned above, the problem of invisible icons is not limited to Yahoo email only.

In order to document things, I would like to explain that a few years ago, I changed appearance of things on the screen, use the options in the 'PC's display properties. For example, instead of using the "Win XP" (default), I am using "Classic Windows" (modified) and made changes in the 'appearance' by clicking on the "Advanced" button in this window. For example, in this window, I increased the size of "Active title bar", and "Icons", then they would be more readable.

I wonder now also there is something wrong with the PC graphic card, or if a driver for that it would be useful? It's an Intel 82915 G/GV/910GL Express chipset Family.

Thank you for taking the time to focus on this problem and possibly find a solution for it!

Sincerely,

Williamg3

Hi willamg3,

From what you describe, I don't think it's a problem with the hardware at all, he looks more like a problem with Internet Explorer not to make pages correctly. We have a long documenton Internet Explorer troubleshooting, I would say from reset Internet Explorer settings.
