Explore deleted windows address bar history

I'm looking to remove some items from the address bar (which shows a history of used files and folders) in windows Explorer (not internet explorer) on Vista. All the forums, I've looked at show how using regedit using the keys ending with "typedURLs' 'typedpaths' 'runMRU' and"WordWheelQuery"- for windows OS OTHER THAN Vista. How this is done under vista with these keys do not exist on my computer?

WordWheelQuery is specific to Windows 7 and is historic for typing in the search
boxes. Vista does not keep a story.

RunMRU is valid since Windows 95. This is the story to start - all the
Run programs - accessories.

TypedPath is specific to Windows 7 and is where it stores what you type in the
address bar.

TypedURLs is Internet Explorer 4 for Windows Vista.

    Christopher,

Sorry, there is nothing for Mozilla to 'fix', the new UI Australis works as expected. I'm not satisfied with these changes, as a number of talented developers who have spent a lot of time creating extensions to correct that some of us don't like the new UI.

This door extension on most of the changes in the new user interface, and what it does not there can be an extension separated for that, too.

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

To meet these specific issues that you mentioned in your first posting, the menu bar is not really necessary to have on the screen all the time. If you hid it, you can press Alt to only show. In addition, many of the main menus on the menu bar are available from the button Menu to open '3-bar "; something new for the user is to become familiar with.

It is always possible to personalize then move buttons to toolbar on the Menu bar, if you want to display the Menu Bar all the time.

The menu bar and address bar have always been distinct by default, but unfortunately the ability to "Customize" the address bar (on which the address bar is a part of) has been considerably limited compared to previous versions of Firefox.

Regarding the location of the 'tabs band', he called "The tabs at the top" and was already the default for some versions of Firefox. This Museum is the hidden preference (browser.tabs.onTop) , which allowed the user to turn off this preference.

These two extensions add this pref in versions of Firefox 29 +:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/tabs-on-bottom/

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/fdgueux-tabs-on-bottom/

Just as the Restorer of classic theme, but without the other proposed changes to the CTR.

In closing, Mozilla has made studies on how Firefox users using Firefox, and how they have changed the Firefox; the results showed that a minority of users changed anything about Firefox. And a super minority of users of Firefox went as far to change the user interface, like the poster in this thread we're talking.

I am part of this "great minority", I tend to 'customize the hell' of Firefox. And I'm working on a solution to many changes, while avoiding the use of extensions when possible; Although my solutions do not involve change "Tabs at the top", which is a change, I welcomed in Firefox 4.0.

  • Is it possible to delete the shortcut to a user profile in the drop-down menu in the Windows Explorer address bar?

    We have a significant machines Windows 7 deployment, all managed by group policies.  All users have their Documents redirected to a file server as well as their other main libraries i.e. music, videos, photos, downloads, Favorites etc. - Despite this users continually save files in their roaming profile.  What I would do is, delete the shortcut to a profile of the users of the windows address bar to try and dissuade users from recording in their profile - please see the image below;

I can't find the Group Policy settings to remove this link?

  • Remove the address bar in Windows 7 Explorer

    Hello

I'm trying to completely remove the address bar in Windows 7 during the exploration of the files. I spent most of the day looking for a way to do this without success. I found the NoNavBar and NoAddressBar registry settings, but those that appear to work only for older versions of windows and I found a way to disable the breadcrumbs, but I want to remove the bar completely. Does anyone know of the registry tweak or the file that I needed to change it before you completely remove? In Windows XP , it's as simple as unchecking the box to the address at the top bar.

    Blessings.

    Hi Mattya2006,

You can not delete the address bar of Windows Explorer for Windows 7, this is the design.

You can use your favorite search engine to find any third-party tool that will help you accomplish what you want.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Accidentally deleted address bar/back-front/bookmarks/tools/help/bar area. Help!

I accidentally deleted my address bar/file/history/tools/etc line, the top of my screen - I did it all by removing the extra toolbars - I don't know where or how to get it back. I did a system restore, but that did not bring him back. I don't know what to do! I had no idea who could be deleted! I have little technical knowledge and did everything I can think of to find it or bring it back.

In Firefox 3.6 and later Windows, you can hide the "menu bar" by "view > toolbars" or through the context menu on a toolbar.

Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key to bring up the 'Menu Bar' temporarily.

Go on "view > toolbars" or right-click the 'menu bar', or press Alt + V T to select the toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to switch from the State).

  • How to hide the address bar when windows 'popup' fullscreening?

Video player Sky TV has an implementation of bad full screen - you can make the player go true fullscreen, but it comes back when he loses focus, so I can't multitask on my two monitors.

The best solution I found is to use their 'pop-out' reader, which opens a new "popup" - style window (locked address bar, no search bar etc) and I can't then full screen window itself (not the player). This allows me to hide

    -the outline of the window
    -the title bar of window
    -Windows Start menu

and it remains enlarged when it loses focus.

However, this does not hide the window address bar. On a larger window of Firefox at the normal address this slides out of sight after a short period. locked style "popup" window is not.

On the offchance that treat differently the "pop-up" windows is a deliberate... Firefox security policy can I disable it?

    Well, this is embarrassing.

I went to try to settle the dom.disable_window_open_feature.location from true to false.

However, before doing so, I noticed that the address bar of the popup window was now floating as usual.

I'll keep an eye on it in case it stops again, but for chalk now it up to the stupidity of the user.

  • Remove IE address bar entries

How can I delete an individual entry in the address bar history?

It's a little red x to the right of the entry that is displayed when you select the entry.  Highlight and click on him and he removes the entry.  I know there are in IE8, but I'm not 100% certain of IE7.

If it does not exist in IE7 and you do not want to upgrade, then go to http://www.mydigitallife.info/2006/11/11/edit-internet-explorer-typed-urls-in-address-bar-dropdown-list/ where you can download a software that will do what you want to do (well as far as easily since you will need to open a separate program).

    I hope this helps.

Entries in the bar location drop-down list with a yellow star (blue on Mac) at the right end of the bookmarks and Scripture cannot be cleared from the location bar menu drop down with the delete key.

If you do not have the verified address bar? Back to View > toolbars and toolbars to unlock. Then, the corner where you see '"= address' and pull to the left. The address bar is just stuck on to the right. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Every folder I open it in Windows Explorer starts to run an analysis that goes anywhere in the address bar. How can I stop this?

In earlier versions of Windows, I would allow the address bar appears at the top of any folder that has been opened.  I'm on Vista Ultimate SP2 now and I'm not sure if the same name is still assigned to this bar at the top that displays inside the location of the folder structure of windows to the folder that is open.

It is the same field that indicates the status of your search in Vista.  This is the area, to which I am referring.  In the upper left of the folder.

Whenever I open a folder, it starts what appears to be a search, and the progress of the present poster with the field more in more blue from the far left and go right.

I thought that since that acts of domain the same when I do an actual search, as she does when I open a folder, that maybe Vista makes some sort of search, or perhapes an indexing function.  I disabled indexing on my system.

But when even scan darn, or whatever it is, starts on every window I opened.  Is it that a folder with pictures, the pictures does not show until scanning, or everything he does ends or is almost finished.

Whenever this address bar starts its thing, I can him an 'X' that appears to the right of the address field.  The blue progress bar will suddenly zip through as if it ended, but often nothing happens, like the display of thumbnails for a period after you click 'X'... as if it still makes of anything, that he was not concerned that I hit the 'X '.

Sorry for the length of this post.  I'm strugglng to describe my question clearly enough.

If you know what is happening and how to stop it, I'd love to help...

Thanks for the clear explanation.  I've never heard of this problem before, but it does not sound like opening the file automatically starts the search function - a problem that could be caused by a number of things.  The first that comes to mind is a recent installation program or the Windows Update (or a corruption of the registry) that is causing the problem.  We will approach the problem systematically until we discover the problem (with the procedure with the highest probability of success first).

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  If this started recently, I think that this procedure can solve the problem without requiring you need to go further (but I could be wrong, and the problem may be with some corrupted system files that must be identified and repaired).

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.

If it does not, then thanks for posting any repetitive error message in Event Viewer on startup (Start / Control Panel / administrative tools / Event Viewer).  Here's how to use Event Viewer: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic40108.html.

This could also be malware (although I have never seeen before a kind). Let us make sure that it is not.  In Safe Mode with network (click several times F8 during the boot process) try to run anti-malware programs. To resolve this problem (if it is a problem) download, install, and run the following two programs: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html.  You can also try a free trial of Pandasoft (www.pandasoft.com).  Before you download pandasoft, uninstall all anti-virus program you currently use (because the installation and execution of two simultaneously can cause conflicts, freezes and all sorts of problems).  Once you have uninstalled your current AV program, download, install, update and scan using Pandasoft.  I think you might be amazed at how much she notes that other software missed.  Once complete, uninstall pandasoft and re - install your current AV program (unless you decide to spend that I did when I tried about 4 years ago).  You can also try the new, free Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx (with the same caveat that only program AV one ALONE can be installed and running on your system at any time). Set the scans to be comprehensive analyses and configure the program to fix any problems they find.  Restart after you have completed all the scans. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html , as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version on system with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled cane and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to do a slipstream drive as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem.  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

    Good luck!

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure:
