  • Explorer.exe does not work correctly.

    Hello everyone.

My name is George Sebros and I have a Toshiba Satellite A300.
The reason why I post this new topic, it is that I need a little help from someone who knows something about my above problem:
One day, about 2 months ago... I turn on my Satellite A300.
When he connected, not only none of my icons appeared but also the start menu does not...
The only thing that appeared in a screen totally BLACK, has been my folder "Documents and Settings" which opened automatically.
There was no way I could find neither the start menu (I mean the taskbar), or my icons...
So, whenever I close the Documents and Settings folder that had appeared, the only thing I could see was a black screen...
It was a kind of shock to me and I couldn't believe my eyes...

After a few days, I tried the well-known combination "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" to see what was working and what was not.
Then I pressed the 'FILE', then 'NEW TASK' and finally, I typed the word 'explorer' in there.
That's all! Suddenly, all turn to normal like the day before the problem started. I was happy with it, I could use my Satellite A300 again!
However, it is an indirect way to do my work PC!
This means that I'm still fain to use this indirect way to make the icons and the taskbar appears.
This means that the 'explorer.exe' does not work?
Many programs registry I use notify me on some HKY... files that contain DATA NON. I have to let you know that the explorer.exe is located in the (empty) folders.
It indicates that transplant programs that I use, point out the problem I have?
    Can someone help me?

I don't want to use the safe option of FORMATTING (also known as the FORMAT).
    Thanks in advance,
    George A. Sebros

    Hello

Seems that your Vista is confused upward
You can try to clean the registry and operating system in order to avoid the new installation of the OS.
    Please use the CCLeaner.

I use this tool as well for free and it cleans the registry and other files at the time.
    It really helps!

But if the BONE still does not work properly then you should try a new installation
Of course, this procedure is radically because the HARD disk should be formatted, but on the other hand, you will get a clean and functional BONE

  • Windows 7: Explorer.exe does not start but if manually run it restarts my laptop.

My laptop HP Probook 4530 s boots until the Welcome screen, it does not continue to show the desktop instead, it shows only a black screen.

As I entered in the Task Manager, I tried to check the process and discovered that "explorer.exe" is not running. I created a new task, browse the explorer.exe and run. It shows the office, but after 10 seconds or less, it restarts and goes back to the black screen after the Welcome screen.

    How to solve this problem?

    Hi Mark,

Check if the Userinit registry value is correct. To read, use the command:

Press Windows key + R, and type:

    cmd /k reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v "Userinit".

Copy what is displayed in the output and after here.

    Similarly for the value "Shell:"

    cmd /k reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v "Shell."

I can't for the life of me remember what I have to do to restore this process in the startup routine so that his office will be in charge. He has an extraordinary number of startups, but he managed to remove this (essential) program, especially in lists of useless junk that is responsible.

It's a compact with an Intel processor running Vista and of course it doesn't have the ERD. There is a recovery on the hard drive partition and if I knew how to use it, maybe this would a repair option, but I'm not clear on how to use either because there is no literature or what he had with the computer. By way of explanation, he is a foster child and had been tossed around a lot, so it's not too surprise that it doesn't have any of these materials.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

    Hello

It's a Windows startup option that uses the most recent system settings that worked correctly. Whenever you turn your computer off and Windows shuts properly, important system settings are saved in the registry. If a problem occurs, you can restart your computer using these parameters. For example, if a new driver for your video card is at the origin of the problems, or an incorrect registry setting is preventing Windows from starting correctly, you can restart your computer by using the last good known Configuration.

Perform the last known good configuration of the advanced startup options and check if the computer works fine.

Using the last good known Configuration

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/using-last-known-good-configuration

How to start in the Advanced Boot Options:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

To enable the Task Manager, you can perform the following steps:

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
(http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Back-up-the-registry ) How to back up and restore the registry in Windows.

    i. open the registry editor by clicking the Start button, type regedit into the search box and then press ENTER. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
II. navigate to the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

    Note:

In policies to create a system key.

    To do:

    • Political right click and select the new key and name it as system.
    • Select the folder system and go to the right pane and do a right click on the space empty window and select "dword32-bit".
    • Rename by do right click and select Rename to Disabletaskmgr

What is the cause of an error in 142?

    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for the reply.

Run a scan antivirus on your computer.

    www.Microsoft.com/Security/Scanner

Note: If any virus or malware files are detected during the scan, there is a risk of data loss because infected files will be deleted.

Also check if there are errors listed in Event Viewer.

Event logs are special files events important folders on your computer, for example when a user connects to the computer or when a program encounters an error.

To open the journals please follow the steps.

Press the Windows key + W

Type 'view event logs"on the splash screen and press enter.

  • Explorer.exe is not running after logon

XP Home SP3, Microsoft updates current running.  Also running avast! 6 free 3.54 Sandboxie, Windows Defender, COMODO Firewall (free) Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free, SUPERAntispyware Free Edition, PC Tools ThreatFire.  Firefox 4.0.1 and also installed IE8.

Only three of these programs are running real time: avast!, COMODO, ThreatFire and Sandboxie when running a browser.

Updated definition files scanning shows the system to be clean.  System runs very quickly and smoothly.

Problem: Explorer.exe will not start after login.  Desktop is missing, taskbar, tray system, clock, start button and desktop icons and system stalls.  Check the Task Manager shows explorer.exe has not been loaded.  The first couple of times this happened it, CTRL + ALT + DELETE is the Task Manager, and I chose restart from, even when you are connected, and then explorer.exe should boot and load.

I have not checked yet to see, if and when this condition occurs again, if explorer.exe is going to load by clicking New Task Manager tasks.

Safe mode and running last last known good configuration worked the last time.

Click OK to complete the program." Then another pop-up window appears the error information. After awhile, it prompts you to close the program.
My colleague, who also has a laptop with Vista home is able to connect to Citrix without any error. He said he did a lot of configuration changes in the security features in vista.
Is could someone please help me get rid of these annoying errors?

I came across a similar story, while answering a different question, earlier today.  It seems to involve Dell machines and a corrupt file of the MFC80.dll.  If it's useful to you or not, I'm not sure, in any case, you would like to read this link.

  • AutoComplete doesn't work does not after installing IE *.

AutoComplete URL function works does not after installing IE8.  Looking at the Advanced tab properties IE I see an option to use AutoComplete (which is
ticked off) but it is said to "..". turn of Internet Explorer".  Whatever that means, and how I seized not semi-automatic work again under IE8?  I can go back
for IE7, if it's the only way.   I tried to hit "reset" on the Advanced tab I saw a thread on try this - but no go...  Thank you

    sjakulski,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

In Internet Explorer 8, the Auto complete option is in a new tab.  Go to tools, Internet Options and then click the content tab.  You will see a section that says "Auto-Complete".  Click on the 'Settings' button and it gives you several choices of auto complete options.

This should solve your problem.  Let us know if you need more information.
