Expresscache gel/hanging Windows 8.1 - Y510P

Hi guys, I got my Y510P Monday and performed as expected. But winning 8.1 would often freeze, hang, even on the screen restart and stop, where I had to stop manually. I found that uninstalling expresscache seems to have solved the crash / freeze... I tried to uninstall, delete my drive cache and re-install with the latest version of expresscache, but still the same problem. To uninstall. Is it a thing of compatibility with win 8.1 or a hardware problem? I run Seatools and the SSD meets all the requirements EXCEPT long credits. Although SSDLIFE said that it is in perfect condition and it should be good until 2022.

    Hello

I recently bought the laptop Y510p and updated to 8.1 windows

Since the upgrade, I'm telling gel, which could last 10seconds or 10 minutes.

Any time I restart the computer, it crashes, and the only way to kill him is to press the button works / stop.

Checked the eventviewer and I found the following disclaimer appearing every minute:

After much research, I came to the conclusion that the ExpressCache is the cause.

at the time wherever I've uninstalled it, issues disappeared.

System will reboot without any problems, it will not be freez.

    Checked the following article:

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?docid=HT074404

Tried to re - install ExpressCache but the problem started to presist immediately, constant freezing and the message above in Event Viewer.

Everyone knows the same problem? If you did, did you mange to solve?

Obviously, I'm happy at this stage that frost has disappeared, but at the same time, I really would like to have full use of the system and would like to get it resolved.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hello.

Talked with Support and unfortunately, this seems to be a matter of HW.

Given that I've owned only the laptop for less than 31 days I received a full refund/replacement code.

I would say that anyone having the same problem, contact technical support and advises because that is the question to support him rather than S/F.

    Kind regards

The image (it back up to an external drive as full image) and reinstall Windows XP, update, drivers and everything.  Install any plugins that you NEED to do all that you see here that the bat hurt.  If the problem no longer exists, something has gone wrong with your system from before (corrupt files or your cleaning is not as complete as you think) and if the problem persists - probably something to do with the material. In all cases, you can return to the image if you wish.

To the extent wherever it is the registry, I must ask, * how * you have come to this conclusion?  Not that I'm defending something - I was wondering what you did to decide who is not your registry database?  (Side: I agree with you.)

That's what * I * would call cleaning and optimization of a Windows XP machine:

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • Computer Hangs Windows Movie Maker.

Every time lately that I use Windows Movie Maker I can import a video file, import audio files, all put together in a film, but when I try to save it in a file of movie or any other function under Save the file, the computer crashes.  I can't close the file if I'm not at the bottom bar tool, right-click to close the program, and click Close.  When I do that, the emblem close (or other) remains on the screen until I go to the desktop screen, right click Close again and then left click to remove it.  All I really want to do is to remove the program and then reinstall it.  I'm hoping that will solve the problem.  I know not where to do.

    Hello AGpoolguy,

You can watch the Movie Maker FAQ listed here to see if they can help guide you.

Hi, I have problems with Windows Explorer of my windows vista PC computer

This prevents the hanging and freezing

It is 32 bit Windows Vista Home Premium

I tried to clean the programs, they don't do much

When I turn on my PC, Windows Explorer is REALLY slow, so I have to disconnect and turn it back on, then it is not as slow

It's a quad core prosessor 3 GB drive hard ram.138 GB

This gets really annoying, and I want to start working normally again.

    Help, please

    Thank you

Often, a certain instability in Windows Explorer is due to the defective shell extensions and addons.
Consider using Sysinternals Autoruns or ShellExView. Disable Add-ons and non Microsoft shell extensions and verify the behavior.  If he went, reactivate the disabled extensions/add-ons, one at a time and see if you can identify who may be liable.
Try a clean boot, or boot into safe mode.  The behavior persists?

I have lightroom CC 2015.5 on Windows 10.  It starts and runs OK for 5 to 10 seconds and then hangs (not responding) for about 1 minute and then exercise his work as if nothing happened.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall, turn off the graphics processor and turning off everything I can find in what concerns the synchronization.  But nothing seems to work. How can I stop this happening?

The problem is now gone.  Virus checker is back on.  And LR works normally when I'm online and offline.  Did not affect the firewall settings.  So I don't know if I fixed it by turning the auditor of virus off the coast, or there is another problem that just happened to get fixed at the same time.

  • E7240/E7440 - Intel Management Engine drivers Hangs Windows 7 Setup

    Hi all

Wonder if anyone else has problems with installing Windows crashing with the Intel management engine Drivers injected directly into the WIM image?

The error message that appears when the installation says "Windows cannot configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and restart the installation. Once restarted, it will shut with the message "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install Windows click OK to restart the computer and then restart the installation"I have check the logs in X:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\, but can't find anything useful (or understand).

Can I get the installation to complete, excluding the drivers of the EMI, but this leaves the device with no driver in the Device Manager. The same drivers can be installed manually with any questions after that Windows has finished installing.

The review of pilot for the latitudes of 7 series I use is A00 published 06/09/2013.

Some Windows 7 drivers for new Dell systems may require an update of the KMDF to version 1.11.  The KMDF is a component of the operating system and the software update is available from Microsoft at the link below.  The usual treatment is to include the KMDF update in your base image until it is wrapped in a service pack.  Some of you may remember to see this problem with XP/Vista when Win7 came on the scene.

Symptoms that a KMDF update is necessary for a Windows 7 driver:

1 yellow bang in Device Manager for the components that you know you have a driver available

    2. black screen during OS deployment

  • Hanging Windows updates.

07/29/2012 I was a general cleaning of my laptop, Windows 7 64 bit and noticed that there had been no updates since 13/06/2012. I searched the web for answers and tried a lot of different things. Nothing has worked. Finally, I tried a repair of the system and when it finished everything seemed ok, updates began to work again. But after a few updates, the same thing happens again. I tried troubleshooting with the updates it myself and found that once Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) installed that's when the problems begin. I tried to uninstall it and put it back, a few times, but get the same result.

  • "pmcmd pingservice" hangs [Windows 2003]

    Hello Experts!

I was faced with a strange CAD/INFA behavior days.

When I try to execute a plan of execution in DAC it crashes "to create the connection pool.

I have all the installed components (INFA_DOMAINS_FILE, Hibernate libraries, drivers, connections, etc.)

I analyzed the DAC and INFA newspapers and discovered that pmcmd command behave in a strange way:

If I ping the Integration Services, it indicates:

    + > Domain_BIAPPS d BIAPPS_REPOSITORY_Integration_Service pmcmd pingservice - sv t 10 +.

    Informatica (r) PMCMD, version [8.1.1 SP5], build [135.0129], 32-bit Windows
    Copyright (c) Informatica Corporation 1994-2007

    Called to Fri Mar 27 13:07:33 2009

    Integration service is alive.
    Disconnection of Service integration

    Completed on Fri Mar 27 13:07:33 2009

And then it crashes (the pmcmd.exe process must be killed manually)
It also blocks some other commands (such as getserviceproperties pmcmd), however, some of them work very well (+ starttask, getservicedetails +)

After analysing the deeper papers, I have concluded that this isn't related question Informatica.
This is because the other commands work - for example I can run a job using pmcmd startworkflow , and it is successful.
Looks like the way this pmcmd behaves in Windows2003.
I have similar environment installed on XP a SP4 Infa - the same settings and the contents of the repository and it works perfectly fine.

    Someone knows something similar?
Any help will be highly appreciated as the installation by the customer must be finished quickly,

Thank you for all the input!
    Kind regards

  • Why crash Windows Explorer on right click in the left pane?

In Windows Explorer, the time that I did a right click on any folder in Windows Explorer hangs: "Windows Explorer has stopped working.  A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. »

I have run the System File Checker.  Nothing.

I used MSCONFIG to disable everything except Windows components.  It still occurs.

Any thoughts?  I work around by using the file menu or work in the right pane, but it's maddening.  Had no such problems with XP.

    Thank you.

Sorry for taking so long to answer.  It took me a while to be able to clear a day working on this - it took 2 in all.

In reference to your list included... decipher the CBS proved impossible as my input does not seem to match the referenced site, but it says he's fixing something.

On the section 2... slow right click article had the same symptoms that I had.

Article "manage... context menu entries. "gave me an error and would not display.

ShellExView is wonderful!  I started to disable anything other than Microsoft and it fixed the problem.  Now, I just find that it is the culprit.

Also downloaded FileMenuTools (http://www.lopesoft.com/en/) and it is ideal to remove the entries (found in your How To edit link...) without digging in the registry.

I wanted in any case, thanks for the help.  At least, it works again!

  • Portege A600 Webcam software crashes when changing the settings with the sound muted

I have a problem with XP Toshiba factory build for Portege A600 and Portege R600.
If you try to change the sound properties of the Webcam using the Camera Assistant Software with the sound muted, the camera wizard app will hang & Windows fails to shut down or even stop. The only way to stop is pressed the power button until the machine stops.

So far, the only solution I can come to is to increase the volume to zero rather than using the mute box. The problem is if you forget and mute rather than turning down and then try to change the sound properties, its "game over." In addition, it is not really satisfactory because politics is to keep the machines muted until the sound is required.

This does not happen with the Vista Build, build it only XP.

My guess is that this will not happen on any machine using the Chicony Webcam & software with the Realtek HD audio but I have not tried on machines enough yet to be sure. So far, I've recreated on two A600s and a R600. The machines are not defective and you can create the problem, "straight out of the box. Just do the following:
    (1) use the provided Toshiba product recovery DVD for restore factory Toshiba Windows XP SP2 version
    (2) once you have done the whole stuff, mute
    (3) open the Camera Assistant Software application & to select Properties
    4) click the audio settings tab

That of all, suspended. The Camera Assistant Software version is 1.7.209.0807L which seems to be the last being available for download on the websites of Toshiba.

Someone has encountered this or have any suggestions?

    Hello

I n t have a Portege but U400 with pre-installed and integrated webcam Win XP.
I installed a clean Win XP and then upgraded the XP to the last State and installed all the drivers available from the Toshiba page and possible.

I followed the steps in your message and I have to say that I didn t notice strange questions, software webcam still works correctly

I put t know what could be the problem, but I recommend that you check the audio driver to update maybe you can use the Realtek page
Also, check if the BIOS has been updated to the current state and if your Windows XP is up to date.
