  Hello

  Because of performance problems, we try to convert a machine Console VMware Server 1.0.4 for VMware ESX Server 3i, using VMware converter standalone client 4.0.1 vcentre but it is a failure with the answer "the destination can't stand not 64-bit clients.

  We believe that ESX3i supports 64-bit machines - there is an option to create one, if we were to start from scratch.

  We also tried to import directly via the "Import a virtual appliance" option on the 3i server itself, but he expects a file ovf rather than an egg file, and so we get an exception "system out of memory.

  Can anyone recommend the best method of conversion of a 64-bit computer?

  Welcome to the Forums - Yes ESXi support 64-bit VMS but you needs to ensure that material that esxi installed supports 64-bit by confimrining in the server BIOS ESXi VT i and s 64-bit enabled

  Here's the scenario,

  -We have one physical server with win 2003 OS installed. Installed VMware converter on this box.

  -Conversion all of the physical disk to VMDK in VMware Converter.

  -All copied the VMDK file with vmx and transferred to vcenter Datastore.

  Now when you try to import the machine through vmx import disks that are there with vmx showing as sparse disk. Now, how we'RE the VM of power with this. Can I convert this from front end/thick.

  -Why this shows also sparse.

  Just a note - I had to do what the latency between the physical server and vcenter is very high and the disk size is 1 TB. If you feel still another another good practice that above pl then let us know in this scenario.

  Yes, if you converted a system with a "VMware Workstation" destination, hard files become fragmented by default. For use on ESXi, you need to convert them again.

  Can someone tell me how to convert a more recent VMware Server to make it work with an older VMware vSphere Hypervisor 3.5?

  I just installed this version on an old IBM xseries 346, but I can't turn on the virtual machine. When you check the log it is said that the version is not compatible.

  Can you also tell me how to get rid of the warning of a 60-day trial. This version should be free?

  I have a dualboot with Windows XP and Windows 7 system because I use different developer versions because I work on old and new applications.

  Because I'm tired to restart several times a day from the operating system, I would like to convert my Windows XP in a virtual machine for VMWare Player 3.1. I downloaded VMWare vCenter Converter, but player 3.1 is not in the list of supported systems.

  Any ideas if I can use vCenter converter or need another tool?

  Hope I am posting this in the right forum. I'm looking to virtualize a couple of servers for a small business and VMware vSphere Advisor recommended buy VMware vSphere 4 Essentials. As part of the migration to VMware, I need to convert a couple of existing servers, including most of the PDC for the office, for VMware. The questions I have is, can I use the VMware Converter with Essentials vCentre?

  VMware Converter vCentre is a module of vCenter Server 4. So yes, you can use it with a license of vSphere 4 Essentials. You can also use vCenter Converter Standalone, which is free.

  About your main domain controller, it is recommended not to virtualize domain controllers Windows of P2V. In general, it is best to install a new domain controller and switch roles with the old. Take a look at this kb for more details.

• Free converter of VMware ESXi datastore

  I need to convert a physical server in a virtual machine using VMware converter and have a few questions.

  (1) can I P2V in a data store with the free app converter VMware ESXi?

  (2) I need the physical machine to be still in production after the conversion, until I get the configuration of the virtual machine, that's how the conversion or I lose my physical server?

  I was cleaning my Add-ons, etc and noticed that extension, Smart Printing button 1.0 is disabled b/c, it is not compatible with my current version of FF 18.0.1, why not uninstall and go? I looked for answers on how to do it, but come up empty. I searched my C drive for the HP, print Web program (such as suggested by the forums HP) and found nada, I think I might have deleted (not uninstalled correctly) as I felt as I didn't need and now the extension. How can I remove the extension of Smart Printing button 1.0 on the list of Firefox extensions in the current situation?

• each folder in my computer converted to *.exe, which shows the same size 123kb. How to solve this problem?

  I have pictures, images, books (mostly PDFs), System Tools programs in respective separate folders in my hard drive. all in a single shot, each folder is showing application.exe and windows detects their respective sizes as the Same 123 KB. What should be my approach to solve this problem?

  This problem may occur because of default program settings, I suggest you to check default program settings.

• Backing up a virtual computer running on vmWare player

  In about a month, I run an IT project for a conference and to do this, I'll take with me my conference server, which is a virtual machine (Windows 2008 r2) usually run on an ESXi. To export it, I did a V2V and put it on a laptop. Everything works fine. However in removing my ESXi I lose the ability to snapshoting it. This virtual machine will be led by VM Player.

  In addition, to reduce the risk, I bought the same laptop in case of crash of the first. Now, I would like to find a way to snapshot or backup my VM without having to turn it off or to suspend what is impossible for me at the time of the Conference.

  Does anyone of you has an idea on how I could do this?

  even if a snapshot is NOT a backup, I suggest that you get a copy of VMware Workstation, allowing to create snapshots.

Unless there is something I don't really understand, it seems that you can copy a PDF of several page on Evernote, but you can retrieve only the first page on a virtual printer Adobe for Windows.   I have a neurological disease and an accumulation of documents on Evernote. Most of the documents have been given to me by a doctor, I have them scanned in PDF files and read these files in Evernote. I just assumed that when it came time to take the documents to a new doctor, I could print them. But, when I went to print multi-page documents, the printer would only print the first page and ignore the rest.

  Sounds like you have a problem with EverNote, not Acrobat. Acrobat prints being told to print, it does not stop after the first page.

  I have a XP box with a few applications I want to do in a virtual machine.  I have ESXI free running with several local and virtual machines and the data of the network store.   I installed the converter version 4 and could not convert the PC, so I uninstalled and installed version 3 with the same results.  I have attached customer newspapers and converrter of the last run.  If I look at the process on the area of conversion and customer ESXI, I can briefly see the vm name pop up in the list, and then he disappeared when the error in the conversion box

  You seem to be getting a failure when creating the virtual machine.  Converter 3 and 4 work the same way, that they submit the request for vCenter/ESX to create the virtual machine, as required.  I have seen where an initial conversion has failed once before or another conversion was at the same time, and we had to restart the running converter (Server source and converter) before the lock system was released on the data store.

  And a third with the title, "Web Developer installed"

• Video clip with file extension 3gpp converted to wmv but no audio in Windows Movie Maker

  I have a video clip taken from a cell phone with file extension 3gpp.  I converted it to a wmv file using software downloaded using an XP operating system.

  Thank you for your interest and your answer to my question.  I was actually able to do something with it that I managed to import a file to convert 3gpp in Windows Movie Maker.  Here's what I did as others who may have the same problem currently or in the future, try:

  Initially, I converted a file video in a .wmv file 3gpp and tried to import the Windows Movie Maker.  The video is imported, but is not the audio.  I converted the same file video 3gpp in one file .avi and it imported into the Windows Movie Maker project that I did and it worked! The .avi video and audio imported and played without any problems.  Thanks again for your response.
