Extension of RAM on Satellite L50-B-18F

Hi, I need to expand the RAM on my laptop, it is a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-18F i5.
How can I do? Do I have to send my laptop to some technical assistance offices or can I do it myself?

Thank you in advance.

Hello

Portable specification of your laptop was offered with 4 GB of RAM, but it can be upgraded up to 16 GB.

The memory modules are compatible RAM for your machine:
2 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M2G
4 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M4G
8 GB DDR3L-1600-PA5104U-1M8G

Unfortunately, this model of phone has memory button placed on the low side so I think the upgrade memory by the owner of the laptop is not supported. Theoretically, you can do this alone, but if you remove some components hardware this will void the warranty so I think you should contact the nearest Toshiba, service provider and ask for help.

Memory modules, you can get on your own and just ask service to put in place. I can't imagine that it will be expensive.

Well, the procedure for the RAM upgrade is a bit tricky. There is no RAM module Bay separated with easy access.

To access the free RAM slot, the plastic cover of the bottom must be removed.
You need to remove the ODD (optical disc) as well as the battery and next by the screws around the cover.

But remove the cover would mean that you would negate the warranty.

I put t know if you want to lose the warranty, I think that security is a very important fact which should be considered before performing this upgrade procedure.

  • Adding RAM to Satellite L50-A-1EH

    Hello
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1EH. I wanted to add an additional 4 GB of Ram up to a total of 8 GB. The laptop has 2 slots and is expandable to 16 GB, so it should be easily achievable.

The problem is however that I tried several types of modules, but none seem to work. I've tried different brands such as Corsair, Kingston, Transcend, but after installation and put into the laptop market, it stops after a few seconds.

I called technical support Toshiba who gave me a certain module Kingston Toshiba, which I also tried, but with the same result (Kingston Toshiba pa5104u-1m4g).

The only that worked, was the exact same module already included in the notebook.
I took this one on an another L50-A-1EH in the store.
However, the problem is that this module is not sold in regular stores.

I tried various things, the BIOS updates, switching to the top modules, in one of the modules, put 2 of the same thing, but nothing seems to work. I've mailed to Toshiba and their response was that it should work, otherwise I should call the support desk, but because of the interview, they are not available until this Tuesday.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Well, usually it takes not a big problem to use the modules developed by other manufacturers. I use modules of different brand, but to be honest, I had the best experience using the modules of Kingston.

However, I found the modules recommended for the L50 - A Satellite and generally these modules must be compatible:

    8GB DDR3L - 1600 PA5104U-1M8G
    4 GB DDR3L - 1600 PA5104U-1M4G

You should be able to get these pieces of registered maintainer Toshiba in your country.

Type, frequency, the maximum capacity for each of the 2 slots?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

According to the specification for laptop, your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM and 1 GB of RAM followed the part number - PA3313U-1M1G. Put this number in Google and you will find info on this compatible RAM module.

To avoid compatibility problems, I recommend using the compatible RAM only.

  • Question about the extension of RAM for Satellite A50-522

    Hello

I have a Satellite A50-522, with a Pentium M 715 @1. 5 Ghz processor and Intel 855GME chipset. To expand its RAM I referred to the Spain/Toshiba support website and I bought the PA3313U-2M1G (1 GB SDRAM 166 MHz DDR333/PC2700) via amazon.com. It turns out that this RAM is for "Alviso chipsets" - which are those relating to the Intel Centrino processors with 9xx series express chipset. I called Toshiba/USA and they recommend the PA3313U-1M1G or its equivalent Kingston KTT3311 / 1 G (since it is impossible to find in the Mexico), instead of the one I already bought. They all seem exactly the same thing in their description, except for the note "alviso chipset.

    My questions are:
    (a) is the chipset of this computer, considered "alviso" type? and
    (b) if not, should I keep the RAM I bought already (PA3313U-2M1G for alviso chipset)?, can I have performance or compatibility problems? What are the risks of the use of this "alviso RAM' in a 'no-alviso chipset? I deeply appreciate your input.

    Thank you!

    Hello

The RAM modules for especially for chipsets alviso are not known to me, but the Satellite A50-522 certainly supports the memory PC2700 PA3313U-1M1G bar.
I guess the PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G are the same modules from memory.

PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G memory module are supported the same specifications of 1 GB - SO DIMM 200 pin - DDR - 333 MHz PC2700

I think you can use both modules without any problem.

  • Extension of RAM for Satellite 1900 704

    Hej all

I own a Satellite S1900-704 for years and I have a lot of luck with it with Debian Linux running.

Last week, I've assembled a 160 GB Hitachi HDD which works very well. Now, I want to increase the RAM.
The laptop is equipped with 2 pcs of 256 MB of RAM 512 total MB of course. I read that it is possible to set 2 pcs of 512 MB instead which would increase the total RAM of 1 GB. My question is: can I put in 2 pieces of 1 GB to 2 GB total? I can't find any confirmation for this...

    Thanks in advance!

    Boris

    > Can I put in 2 pieces of 1 GB 2 GB total.
No, to my knowledge, this is not possible.
The memory of the Satellite 1900 704 can evolve upward at 1024Mo max.
In this case, you can use the memory 2 x 512MB max modules!

The laptop won't work with 2 GB of memory: (unfortunately

    Hello

He s strange because I checked the maximum memory that you can use and it s 1024MB. In this case, it should be possible to use 2x512MB.
The unit uses DDR - Ram modules. This is a problem.

I also checked these modules and the modules support has recommend:
    PC2100 128 MB (PA3126U - 1 M 12)

  • Satellite L50 - B - 2 5 - upgrade of guaranteed RAM VS

    Hello

I have a laptop Satellite L50 - B - 2 5 and Im wondering if I lose the warranty if I upgrade the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB. I have a 4 GB RAM module and I want to insert myself, but I am afraid of losing the warranty if I open the case.

    Thanks for your help.

Way General upgrade RAM will not void the warranty but your L50 - B has a specific design and it is not distinct from the cover of RAM in the lower corner. So you do not have access to the RAM slots. In your case the whole bottom cover must be removed, and you should not do this.

My advice to you is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

  • Satellite L50 - A - 16 G - how to upgrade RAM?

I have a Satellite L50 a 16G with 4 GB of RAM and I would like to move to 8 GB, but I don't know what memories are compatible with my PC.
I tried to present that the serial number on the Support from Toshiba page but tells me that is not valid, as the Auto Detect tool is unable to detect my device and if I get the model in the list is not?
How can I get information on my PC?

According to specification for laptop, your laptop can be upgraded up to 16 GB. Modules memory compatible RAM for your laptop are:

    4 GB DDR3-1600-PA5037U-1M4G
    8 GB DDR3-1600-PA5037U-1M8G

In the lower corner of your laptop, you will find the cover of RAM. Remove it and you will have full access to the RAM slots.

    Hello

your machine can be upgraded to a maximum capacity of 2 GB main memory, which means:

to extend the memory to the limit of what the machine is capable of, you have to put 2 x 1 GB DDR2-S0DIMM modules with a frequency of 533 Mhz into the two slots of your machine.

I propose the following brands: Toshiba, Kingston, OCZ

  • Satellite L50-A-108 - what RAM modules are compatible?

    Hello!

    I have a C50-A-108 with processor IntelĀ® Core i5 - 3230M (3 m Cache, up to 3.20 GHz) rPGA.
I want to add a stick of RAM, and I wonder if this specification: DDR3/L /-RS 1333/1600 for my motherboard means that I can use a RAM DDR3L.

My laptop has already installed a DDR3 RAM (1,600 MHz), so I found a stick DDR3L 1.5V 1,600 MHz with the same timings as my system and I want to buy it. Before that, I want your opinion.

    Thank you.

    Hello

To my knowledge, the Satellite L50-A-108 was equipped HM70 mobile Intel Express Chipset. Is this correct?

    Express chipset mobile Intel HM70 supports 2 GB modules / 4 GB / 8 GB DDR3 1333 (PC3-10600) SO-DIMM and max 16 GB of RAM

The Intel Core i5 - 3230 M CPU processor supports DDR3/L /-RS 1333/1600 modules and the speed of the module is related to the speed of the front side bus.
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/72164/

In the case where the FSB is limited to 1 333 Mhz, 1600 Mhz modules would be pointing down.
