  Hi, I have an a Segate 1 TB external hard drive that I have with my MacBook Air. After upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, he refused to climb and is therefore invisible in the Finder.   Most likely your Seagate drivers are not updated.

  NTFS is most likely the culprit here.

  Go to the Seagate site and download and install the latest drivers for your drive and NTFS.

  I buy a new drive external hard 2T hard drive (plug-n-play) for my new Windows System. When I launch the device I have here a beep let me know the unit is plugged on my USB (3.0 or 2.0 as it is backward compatible) but when I go to my computer, the device does not appear, and as such I can't use it. When I go to the devices it is recognized and works apparently correctly. After some browsing on the net, I was told that I have to assign a drive letter. Thus entering disk management, the unit is, properly partitioned. However, when I right click on the appropriate partition gout the menu to change the disk path appears but is grayed out, and as such I can't use to assign a path drive letter. I checked to see if I run as administrator which I believe that I am by default when I first activated Windows. Is there anyone who has experienced this same problem or know a fix?

  Hi, I solved the problem with help. Because Device Manager wouldn't let me not use the format option I deleted the main partition by right click on the partition and then the wizard formatted the partition to NTFS, as I store a few large recording Daw.   Number of things you could try is use knoppix (option 3) to see if that reads the files. its basically a linux operating system you put on cd and run it from cd. He read windows formatted disks, it takes on the operating system of the equation and you maybe power then copy the data off.

  You can try to pull the hard drive into the usb box... plug directly into the computer, see if it works then, and it backs up like that...
