External HDD USB3, only not to behave on a PC (with USB3, but OK on USB2)

I have two PC of Windows 7 (32-bit) with USB3.
A desktop PC and a laptop (with built-in USB3)' PC with USB3 additional PCI card.

Yesterday, I took delivery of a Toshiba Canvios Plus portable 1 TB USB3 drive external HARD.
It works very well with the laptop. It does not so well with the PC (on USB3).

I already use ports USB3 on the PC for a 3.5 inch 2 TB Segate external HARD disk and a couple of USB3 flash drives.
Those who work quite well.

The new Toshiba works fine (although slower than full USB3) on the PC when it is connected to USB2.

I downloaded and installed latest via drivers for the USB3 on the PC and which makes no difference.

Symptoms that are very different from small copies (at best a few small files) FOR the Toshiba are very slow and hang up unless I'm doing something else on the PC (for example, open a browser window or start my email client or...)-in which case, it gives a short burst of activity before slowing down / suspended once again. If I continue to initiate other activities unrelated, it completes OK.

Deleting files also seems to be a small problem (of similar issues).
But not so obviously. The copy of the device is better (but probably still not perfect).

The Toshiba was provided to FAT32 and so I changed to NTFS (by deletion and recreation of the partition), but no improvement.

In the resource monitor, the record shows at or very close to 100% active time while copies are (attempt) execution (even when he is seemingly suspended). And the indicator on the unit flashes while all this is happening on (which suggests that it is busy, even if nothing really happens).

In addition, cancelling a copy often takes a long time to take effect (varies, but could easily be a few minutes or more).

Any ideas?

To be honest there is no troubleshooting options: Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 HARD drive is a device plug ' n play.
It must be connected to the USB port only and everything should work and works automatically.

As far as I know each Canvio 3.0 HDD supports an internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to protect your player...
I'm not sure why the USB 3.0 device does not work in USB 3.0 port.
There may be a problem of compatibility from the USB 3.0 chip... Maybe but it's just a suggestion...

It would be interesting to know if this HARD drive may work correctly in another computer/laptop support USB 3.0 port.

  • Seagate GoFlex Desk USB 3.0 External Hard Drive is not detected at startup, when you use USB 3.0

Hey there, I was wondering if someone can help with this. Basically, my works fine external HDD so I boot to windows and then plug it into a USB 3.0, but if I leave it plugged in as I would like and reboot or shutdown and return to the reader don't launch and Windows does not detect it correctly.

I am on Windows 7 64 bit, have an i5 - 3570 k and a sabertooth z77 mobo. USB drivers are updated, the intel one controller as the asmedia one, the bios is up-to-date, near as I can tell everything is up-to-date, but this hard just don't have it. It doesn't matter what USB 3.0 port it is plugged into you just cannot get starter. You can feed the cycle only and that will do the trick, but I don't want to do every day. If plug you it into a USB 2.0 port, so that it works exactly as it should here is my solution.

Now, I tried to contact Seagate and they suggested that I update my drivers, even if I told them that I had updated my drivers, which was great. Clearly, they have nothing useful to say. Anyone got any ideas?

    Hello

    Thank you for the update.

This can give it a try and check.

  • external hard drive is not displayed in disk utility

I have a drive (2 TB) seagate desktop external hard, while the backup time machine HDD power adapter was pulled from the socket. Now the hard drive is not recognized (both on the utility disk and office) of my mac pro book works on os x el capitan, seeing the hard drive is disabled, but I can feel and hear the operation of the hard drive. Also when I hang up my iMac running os x yosemite on the hard drive can be used and seems to work very well.

I tried to reformat the hard disk, but it has failed it is still not recognized on my mac pro book

    Hello amartnez,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

From your post, I see that your drive external hard seagate was pulled from the socket during backup with Time Machine, and now it is not recognized by your MacBook Pro. I know how it is important to ensure that you are able to connect your external drive to your Mac. I have something I want you to try.

Because the external hard drive seems to be working on another computer (iMac), please try a different USB port on your MacBook Pro and see if it recognizes the external hard drive on the desktop and in disk utility. If so, that means you have a problem with this specific USB port on the MacBook Pro.

    See you soon!

I also tried to download drivers intel after searching other threads, and it does not work through floppy.

I also added the drivers toshiba XP ISO using nlite to create a disk slipstream and while xp is loading the disc, I noticed 'pilot toshiba raid' being installed. Same no result no hard drive found.

According to the specifications on this page:

Your laptop's Ide interface, as far as I know on the old IDE interface there is a limitation of LBA 28 bits, which means that the laptop can only manage hard disks up to 128 GB.

  • AT300 recognizing only not SD cards restarted.

    Hi all.

Recently got a Tablet AT300 largely because the SD slot full size (a rarity in tablets). My intention was to load images from an SD card in my digital camera directly on the Tablet, however encountered a strange problem.

When I put a card camera SD in the SD slot, the Tablet does not notice it unless I can put the Tablet market again. When I put the card in, the section of 'Storage' shows only the internal storage - external SD card appear not at all. However, if I reboot the tablet with the SD card still in it, she then "notice" the SD card and entered storage (with option to 'disassemble').

It seems that it will only detect and mount an external SD card * if * the card is in the Tablet during startup. Don't know if it's all simply down to a lack of functionality 'plug-and-play"in the Android operating system or something else - if it is a fault with the unit, I need to know, so it can be returned during the warranty period.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

I think that it is a usual procedure for Android devices.
The device must be turned off before inserting the SD card.
I have an Android smartphone that support the mini SD card.
The phone should be turned off until the SD card is inserted.

Then if you want to remove the SD card, you must first take it apart.
Go to applications-> the settings-> storage-> Unmount SD card
Then you can remove the SD card in the slot!

  • Drive external HARD USB will not access the files correctly on Satellite A100-033

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-033 (PSAANE-03J02GEN), running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.
I have a Western Digital passport external hard drive, which has no power source, because it pulls its power via the USB port.

Sometimes the player works fine, but I often have huge problems to access files on the drive. Opening a folder can make Windows to hang.

Open an audio file or a Word can do Word or audio software crash. Copy files often fails and in the process can make the Explorer Windows stop working.

Recently I tried to copy a 33MB file from the external hard drive to my laptop, and while he did it took more than an hour. So many things can happen, none of them pleasant.

Problems can occur if the external drive is the only device connected to a USB (apart from an external mouse, I always use), or if the external hard drive is one of a number of devices plugged into my laptop - either separately or through a USB hub (powered or unpowered).

Anyone know what is happening and how I can make my USB external drive usable? I have two other external drives (powered by their own power source) and they work perfectly.

Why, most of the time, do drive limp along so badly that they are virtually unusable?

    Hello

One thing is clear; the problem is definitely related to the external HARD drive and not the laptop. It seems that this problem still occurs if the HD has been connected.

It of really difficult to say what could be wrong with your external HARD drive
Maybe HARD drive sectors are corrupt, and therefore you can not open folders and some files stored on the HARD drive.

Have you tried to format the HARD drive? Check this box and try to save and re-open cases.

The left side of the dialog box ingest lists that the drives and folders, display the files in a folder, select the folder and the files it contains will be displayed in the middle section of the dialog box ingest. From there, you can select the check box for the files you want to ingest, adjust your transfer (right) as appropriate, then click on the button to ingest to get them as a prelude.
