External USB floppy drive no longer works

I have a model #: p6710f computer from HP running Windows 7 desktop.

I myself bought an external Bytecc USB Portable diskette (Floppy) disk. Although it did not work initially, it began to work a week later after some updates on my computer running. The work of at least a year since then diskette drive.

Now the last month, the floppy drive does not show in the list where you can find the C drive or the D drive. You can hear the floppy drive respond when it is first plugged in, but it does not show on the screen which you access.

Is there anyone who is able to understand why the floppy USB drive won't work with my computer? What should I do to solve the problem?

Thank you for your response. Uninstalling the driver, restart the computer, and then reinstall the process... I had already tried this a few days ago. Although the computer recognizes drive as new hardware and load the driver, I was not yet able to access the disk. But here's the strange thing...

My office is where I got this problem. Yesterday, I connect the floppy drive for my laptop for the first time. The laptop recognized as new hardware and load the driver. I was able to use the floppy drive on the laptop. Out of curiosity, I disconnect the floppy (USB connection) of the laptop drive and reconnect to the desktop computer. The Office has recognized as new hardware and load the driver. I am now able to use the floppy drive on the desktop. Weird that it is... my question to get the floppy drive on the Office to work is now resolved.

    Hi Alan

I really don? t know why you ask if the floppy drive will not work. Why you don? t he try? As far as I know, it should work and you should not buy a new one.

Just for info: a few months ago, I saw the Toshiba FDD drives with part number PX? And these drives are not bootable but on the lower side, there is a label with this information.

Anyway, you can use your other more ancient. According to the specification tested for MS M70 is FDD Drive Kit PA3109U-1FDD (your one).

  • WRT610N updated firmware, USB hard drive no longer works

    Hi all

Thanks in advance for any help you may have.  I noticed a few people have had this problem, so maybe there is a difficulty.  I updated the firmware to Ver.1.00.02.10 because the release notes, said that it had improved the function USB hard drive.  I've updated the firmware, which is is held reset, pedaled power button, restored my setup, replugged my USB drive & lit.  I am still unable to access the USB drive.  It shows not only upward.

My hard drive is a Maxtor One Touch 750 GB, works perfectly when it is directly attached.  I have 2 PC (one connected via gigabit and either through N), both works very well.

    Any thoughts?

Thank you so much in advance.

When you upgrade the firmware of your router, you must reset your router and reconfigure the settings on it once again, do not restore the Configuration of return still file once on your router. Just reconfigure a fee net settings on your router. That might solve your problem.

External USB hard drives lose its connection and work stoppages.      History

    Windows 7 Ultimate - 64-bit
I installed it on a HP Pavilion, OS, 64-bit, and I have this problem.
People report that it does not occur with Windows 7 32 bit OS.

    Problem:
Any brand of external hard drive USB (and other USB devices sometimes) lose its connection and stops working only when copying large files internal drive to external USB drives.
The USB device may appear to work properly when Windows first starts, but later stops working (crashes computer) after the start of large files to copy. You must restart Windows for the USB is working again.
This only occurs when you copy files large files to THE USB port, not on the internal drive. It happened when I synicing my IPhone with Itunes when it started the synchronization of music files.

According to the suggestions I have:
    1) updated the BIOS from the websites of the manufacturers.
    (2) power management disabled on the USB hub for disks
    (3) ensure that the BIOS for Legacy USB is set to.  I don't have this option in the BIOS settings.
    (4) this is not a motherboard problem, it is located on three different MB that we use.
Also tried three different USB drives and different cables.

Because I tested with two different computers updated and USB drives, our opinion is that this problem indicates that the Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

    Someone knows a solution?

  • Solution: The USB floppy drive is not recognized during installation of XP of RAID

    Hello

This Solution is for notebooks Qosmio with RAID driver during (manual installation of windows)

I found the Solution to this problem,

[When you install Microsoft Windows XP by using a floppy drive USB on a player who]
requires a driver during the installation, the USB floppy drive is not recognized in all
installation. When Windows XP searches the driver of the second time, he will not be able to see
the floppy USB drive drive and prompts the user for the driver (RAID) again.
The installation will never reach this point. ]

    Solution:

This is a limitation of Microsoft, the Floppy Drive are do not appear in the file Windows 'txtsetup.sif.

Simply change the floppy drive in another brand and avoid Usb 2.0 external Usb floppy plus old 1 Try
Also note the back of drive sometimes they write (no bootable) avoid this also

  • Some USB flash drives REFUSE to work in this 40TL963B

Hi all. I recently bought a new 40TL963B and so far I have found nothing wrong with her.

Except that... when I listen to it all the Satellite channels, I noticed thay were very different from my FreeSat box. Duplicate the layers, randomly arrested... etc. It made me want to not use the built-in satellite feature.

However, I found a program called ToshibaEdit which allowed me to manually change all the digital channels on the TV. Grand... I though. Until I met this problem-->

Inorder to change the ads, you must copy the TV channels on a USB flash drive, you can edit them on your PC. Now, it took me AN HOUR to do, because of two flash readers I used, none of them worked... I kept getting a "Write Fail" error. WTF?

The disks are formatted in FAT32, one is a 8 GB is 2 GB.

Finally, I tried an external 2.5 "USB 120 GB hard drive. Even if the disc is defective... This WORKER. I expect flash drives to work, to be honest, but all of them... the external USB hard drive worked.

In any case, I spent another hour sort channels, until I was ready to transfer the data back. And. Yes... the same problem. This time, I received an error "failed to read". Again, tried the external USB HDD... worked the first time.

Now, this HARD drive is faulty, so he'll be thrown... so I'm going to need a flash player to do it again if something happens.

And then... can ANYONE tell me why on Earth two appropriate, fully working almost brand new USB flash drives REFUSE to work in this TV, but a former, fairly well defective USB external drive MADE? In addition, the same flash drive that I tried to copy the data from digital channel with was also used for a backup of the Firmware... and it WORKED perfectly. It works also for use with the media player.

While this TV has a hatred of Flash drives all of a sudden?
Anyone can shed some light on this?

In addition, very quickly, TV seems to lose its TV settings every time that I bring the TV out of Eve. I'm going to the TV Dynamic and adjust all the settings, but he returned to AutoView and all settings back to 0. Is it a fault or is there something I need to do to 'save' the settings per channel?

Any help at all will be appreciated greatly.

    Hello

    > And then... can ANYONE tell me why on Earth two appropriate, fully working almost brand new USB flash drives REFUSE to work in this TV, but a former, fairly well defective USB external drive MADE?

AFAIK the 40TL963B TV supports a common HS USB 2.0 interface and memory flash can be formatted in FAT16 or FAT32 file system. So there is no specific requirement for USB flash memory

Floppy drive does not work. Always has.

    Hello Robert,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

We need more information about the issue so that we can help you better.

    1. What is the brand and model of your computer?
2 floppy drive connects to a USB port and it does not appear in Device Manager?

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem may occur because of corrupted device drivers or incorrect device settings.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and check.
    Reference:
Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

It checks the common issues of interest and ensures that a new device or hardware connected to your computer has been installed correctly.

If this does not help, use method 2.

    Method 2:
If the floppy drive is displayed in Device Manager, I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the floppy drive and check.

To Uninstall , follow these steps:

    a. press Windows + R keys together, type devmgmt.msc in the run window and press ENTER.

    b. right-click on the floppy drive, and then click Uninstall.

    c. restart the computer.

Floppy drive must be reinstalled automatically.

    I hope this information helps.

Yes, there is a way to do this.

I just did this to install Windows 10 from a DVD on a tablet of 10 Latitude by following these steps:
(Note: my version of BIOS is A08)

    1. turn off the 10 latitude power.
    2. attach a USB hub to the USB slot unique on the side of the tablet.
    3. fix a keyboard and an external USB CD drive to the USB hub.
    4. now press the button down on the side of the Tablet and simultaneously press the power button for 5 seconds (until see you the screen light up, but will be weak against black unlit).
    5. When you see the Dell logo, start typing on the F12 key (the lower right corner shows the option press the F12 key to choose single startup options)

Have the old Microsoft Entetainment pack diskette... Bought a USB floppy drive and tried to load.  Received message that the disk is not comnpatable with my Windows 7 operating system.  If anyone can help?

The games were made for 16 bits and last years run natively on XP.

If you have Windows 7 Professional, you could install XP Mode and then install the games in XP Mode, the games were not heavy on graphics and should run ok.

This requires that the XP mode will recognize the floppy USB drive...

  • Portege R500 - CD/DVD drive no longer works

Does anyone found a resolution to this?

Like David, my DVD Multidrive on my R500 abruptly arrested recently - I can open/close the player, but he does not appear in Windows Explorer as a disk is valid. Do not think that I have nothing installed on the machine.

Interestingly, I never really use the DVD player. Indeed, because of all the * heat * questions, I used to "Power Off" of the device, via the DVD icon in the system tray (i.e. option enabled me to Power on / off the unit). So while the power was OFF, it's cold the machine, and so the fan was rarely on.

Now that my computer no longer recognizes the drive, this icon it simply shows that disabled, no possibility to the power on/off switch, and this noisy fan is almost always on. In addition, because it seems that the machine tries to recognize the drive subject time at startup, all re-start, reboot the machine now takes a few minutes to start...

For the optical drive firmware update help? Or is there some other fix?

    Hello

    > but my Portege R500 CD/DVD drive has stopped working the next day, I had attached an external CD - RW drive for me to burn discs. Maybe it did disable my built-in drive?
    This could be the key;
Try to access the Device Manager and remove the CD/DVD player listed and all USB host controllers and USB root hub.

    Again, restart the laptop.
After new check restart if the CD/DVD drive has been recognized again.

  • 320 external USB HARD drive won't boot

    Hello!
After working fine for 5 months, my disk 320 external HARD USB is now showing that it is not initialized. When I go to disk management and click to initialize it, it won't boot. Can someone tell me how to make this work? I'm sure I'll have to format too, but can't find any way to make that without initializing the HARD drive first.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

Try removing the USB ports in Device Manager. After restarting again the USB ports should be recognised again.
Then again connecting the external HARD drive.

The second possibility is to use an external USB hub with an additional power supply.
It is possible that the HARD drive needs more energy than the 500mA
