Extraction of bookmarks for Android mozilla profile backup

Hello

I had Firefox and Firefox Beta installed on my Android phone. This stopped me with my Office Firefox bookmarks synchronization.

I decided to remove all Android versions and reinstall them.

First I saved the profile Beta since it contained the bookmarks that I want.

I can't find the bookmarks in this profile. As much as I know there is no places.sqlite. Changed the file name? My version is the beta Firefox 19

Thanks for the info virtualsattva.

The browser.db file was not easy to find, but after the installation of the file Explorer ARE v. 3 app I finally found in:

"/ System / data / data / org.mozilla.firefox / files / mozilla / default.
profile folder.

  • Need to automate import/export or backup bookmarks for an organization

    I work in it for a (business) medium sized organization. I need a way to export and export bookmarks for all my users and I need it in a way that is automated or CLI (babysitting 100 + laptops and import in person are not an option). We transfer users to the new laptops in three weeks, but we need this feature to exist later too (so we can build something to automate backups of bookmark and restore with our internal network). We use Zenworks to work, but we have other options of script too.

    Any link I found on the command line options to run Firefox with other tools does not allow me to do what I need (that is, I have a way to export to a html element, but it is important do not; - switch migration gives me a GUI). All the resources that I found on Firefox command line arguments are not consistent and not clear on what the options work with which version. As such, I don't even know if options exist which would really help.

    Due to security issues, running a plugin or off-site storage favorite's options.

    I found the existence of profiles.ini and was able to write a script (beats windows cmd - God help me) to get out of this directory is created for the profile and then copy the files on the user's network drive. I also wrote one to copy a disc on their new profile user network. At this point, the problem I encounter is that firefox does not use the file most recent bookmark - < date > .json who gets slapped in the directory. Something else must refer to what bookmark file name to use. Hoping that there is something in the registry or in a plain text, not a sqllite db file, otherwise I am bit watered.

    I guess my question is the following... is there not an easier way to do this, or a command line option (firefox) to do what I need?

    Instead, someone has an idea of how I can tell firefox to use a specific bookmark to begin with, or the newest one in the directory profile? Once, it should be hands-off. This isn't a solution for one person.

    And third, if there is no answer to my first question, my question to the developers of Firefox is "why is this omitted basic functionality"? In my opinion, it is obvious and quite serious, I'd be willing to call a bug. Many others have the same problem. (If I don't get a viable solution for the first two questions, I'll follow with it in a more appropriate forum or email...)

    Thank you people, you really helped my pull together a solution! I think that this solution will be fine for now (I'm under these .bat files as long as the user, no system or an administrator.) I am Deploying via Zenworks, if there is more than one title to skin this cat...

    For exports that I did a file named override.ini I put it in c:\program files (x 86) \mozilla firefox\ that it contains:

    • [XRE]
    • EnableProfileMigrator = false

    ... I needed to do it because I didn't want the GUI to auto import on a first run (turns me off, no matter that it is actually necessary or not in this case).

    Beats my export file for XP (because of goto:EOF, you must run cmd.exe for this one with / x):

    • Set copycmd = / y
    • c:
    • If not exist them "%userprofile%\application data\mozilla\firefox\profiles.ini" goto:EOF
    • CD "%userprofile%\application data\mozilla\firefox\.
    • for /f "tokens = 1, 2 delims = /" % in (' findstr/l ".default" profiles.ini") together called var1 = %% j
    • CD profiles\%var1%
    • otherwise there is h:\backupbookmarks (mkdir H:\backupbookmarks)
    • copy H:\backupbookmarks places.sqlite

    My .bat import for Windows 7 file:

    • Set copycmd = / y
    • Start "browser" /d "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox" firefox.exe
    • time-out period 7
    • c:
    • CD %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\
    • for /f "tokens = 1, 2 delims = /" % in (' findstr/l ".default" profiles.ini") together called var1 = %% j
    • CD profiles\%var1%
    • If exist h:\backupbookmarks\places.sqlite copy h:\backupbookmarks\places.sqlite

    Hope that helps someone else out there. I did similar scripts for Chrome and Safari too, so I should really this post on my blog... will have to start a blog that is not only Linux, though!

  • Why my version of Firefox for Android doesn't have a bookmark (star) symbol to create?

    I noticed that the symbol of the bookmark (star) is missing from my version of Firefox for Android. Until I can get it back I can't record more favorites.

  • Why do third-party keyboard apps have problems in Mozilla for Android browser?

    I have a third party application that I use as a keyboard: SwiftKey X. whenever I select this keyboard as my default and start typing, that whether in the text on the site itself or the adressbar fields, he never seems to get the text right. For example; It removes the words without wanting me. Words are replicated when you try to start new word. Suggestions get automatically inserted without be selected. But when I take the default keyboard systems (Swype, I own a GT-N7000) that there is no problem. No one knows what might happen?

    Hi BryanBouws,

    Can try you every night (20 of Firefox) and Aurora (19 Firefox) and report back here if things work out for you?

    On every night and Aurora, we recently approached a number of keyboard related issues and both must have a number of bugs.

    You can find every available at: http://nightly.mozilla.org with an Android download link at the bottom.

    In addition, you can find Aurora for Android to: http://aurora.mozilla.org

    Let us know if every night or Aurora solves your problems.

    Edit: I would also try the suggestion of iamjayakumars above too.

  • Extract Pages by Sub bookmarks for number of Pages

    I have a script that will check the document to the bookmark page.

    I need to modify the script to retrieve the number of pages of bookmark for nEnd.

    nEnd will be the LAST void / bookmark to start which is the first bookmark.

    Script as follows:

    If (this.bookmarkRoot.children! = null)

    {

    for (var i = 0; i < this.bookmarkRoot.children.length; i ++)
    for (var j = this.bookmarkRoot.children [i].children.length - 1; j > = 0; j-)

    }

    }

    Any help will be most appreciated, thank you.

    OK, you must collect the page numbers that bookmarks stand separately, if you look at the last bookmark under, then you don't need the inner loop

    How about this.

    for (var i = 0; i)< this.bookmarkroot.children.length;="">

    {

    this.bookmarkRoot.children [i] .execute ();

    var start = this.pageNum;

    var nEnd = start;

    If (this.bookmarkRoot.children [i] .children)

    {/ / Only look for the end if there are bookmarks}

    var nLastSub = this.bookmarkRoot.children [i].children.length - 1;

    this.bookmarkRoot.children [i] [nLastSub] .children .execute ();

    nEnd = this.pageNum;

    }

    this.extractPages ({nStart:nStart, nEnd:nEnd,...});})

    }

  • Given that v37 Firefox for Android crashes soon after startup

    I use a HTC D316d (CDMA) with Android 4.3 in China.
    Up to v36, Firefox to work without problems, but v37 crashed seconds after starting. I reset all the data, but without success.
    Then, I installed the nightly version (38 at this time here), and it worked without problem.
    It updates everyday, and now with v.41, the same problem again, Firefox hangs at the first page loaded.
    As I put the bookmark page as my home, I can open Firefox. It will crash in a few seconds the display of web pages like de.yahoo.com or www.google.com.
    There is no error message, the phone comes back just to her homepage.
    No idea how to solve the problem?

  • I've added another email from my computer address, but firefox did not import bookmarks for the new email address

    I have firefox as my default browser (formerly, it was internet Explorer), and I use a total access earthlink as my sign-in home page and e-mail. I've added my wife profile to this computer, and during this procedure, bookmarks for their account are also imported. But when connect us with access, home page appears correctly for his profile of earthlink but firefox bookmarks continue to flow upward with my favorites and the toolbar instead of Siena. I don't understand why firefox is not recognizing the new profile with the correct bookmarks.

    Oops, I skipped something. To copy the Favorites of your wife of the PC to the laptop, you can use the export function.

    (1) export bookmarks in Firefox on the PC: Firefox bookmarks export to a HTML file for backup or transfer bookmarks

    (2) copy this file to the laptop (for example, USB flash drive, by e-mail, or however is convenient)

    (3) import file HTML code in Firefox on the laptop: import bookmarks to an HTML file

    Please note: in the knowledge base, you will also see references to a backup/restore process. Do not use backup/restore to combine different sets of bookmarks as it does a thorough cleaning before restoring. Only use import/export to combine bookmarks.

    Catch 22 defined.

    You do not need an account of Firefox to use Firefox, simply there if you want to use the synchronization service to synchronize bookmarks and other data between your desktop Firefox installation and your mobile installation. (I don't personally use Sync, not since the installation of office has a lot of old baggage that bogged down my mobile.)

  • What is the difference between FF and FF beta for android tablets? My story and Add - it will transfer if I go to the beta version of Android?

    In addition, Pinterest falls when I loaded from history of the FF beta. Thank you.

    Firefox Beta is a version of Firefox for Android applicationdevelopment. Beta gets more frequent updates. They are distinct from the apps because of the way Android work they can't share data directly. You will need to create a Firefox Sync account to move your bookmarks, history and passwords on the Firefox application.

  • How can I remove the Get Firefox for Android box on the homepage?

    Recently, I noticed that I constantly see a box on the home page of Firefox asking if I want to send me a link to Firefox for Android. Is there a way to delete it? I tried the solution with a similar issue in 2012, but the solution doesn't seem to work this time: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/937849#answer-370222

    These kinds of "ads" should have an option to delete, as I already have the application installed and do not want to see it more. Firefox is usually of choice, and a button to mark the div html with style 'hidden' should be very simple to implement.

    I think it would be great if there was a button to reject individual code snippets that you do not want to see again. But... I'm not aware of such a thing at the moment.
