F55 vs Epic for wildlife

I weigh just up the pros and cons as I see them between these 2 cameras and thinking, I want to scribble them in case where everyone is wondering the same thing.

Benefits of two cameras: small size and weight, modularity (is no longer necessary to use an ENG camera and essentially combat usage, it was designed for), of variable frame rate.

EPIC pros: k, maybe more robust, pre record high in 4 k and 5 frame rates, hot swapping batteries if you use locks a little cheaper V and a battery in grip, RED always seen as a little left-field and scary by some producers

F55 pros: lower consumption of energy so less batteries to carry (even if it's less extreme, once the external recorder to RAW is attached), global shutter good for moving subjects (although that does not seem to be a problem with the epic anyway?), built in NDs (it's big because it's faster and means that you do not need box Mate and ND filters - gear more to wear and bring together) , greater sensitivity and lower noise (good for higher rates, low and slow lenses light - there are a lot of things in wildlife filming!), really * with producers at the moment!

Anyway, they are my thoughts at the time. The only huge is the high, set refresh rate except that I would be happy with either.

    Hello everyone,

Help, please. I have three questions:
1 may be someone has already encountered problems with the drivers for XP for F55. I bought F55 with Vista, installed XP but I found the drivers for the WiFi and nVidia only and I was not able to find drivers for other devices unfortunately. On the site official of thare are drivers for Vista only, and there is not the version of BIOS for XP too. Maybe someone knows where I can find them.

    2. in collaboration with the laptop, there is no any CD and recovery or reinstalling Vista is possible since the only HARD drive recovery partition. For example if I'm afraid of breaking the recovery partition of my experiences with the XP installation or reinstallation of Vista and I want to do the whole HARD disk copy or to make a copy of a partition. Is this possible? Nobody has tried to do that? I tried to copy entire HARD drive with Vista or separate partiotions (recovery partitions) including - new HARD drive or partition is not loaded. I tried several times - there is no positive result. Is there a software to copy on Toshiba HDD protection? And how the HARD drive to copy to avoid lost data?

3 F55 has GPS and preloaded Garmin Mobile PCA? ¢ - per-round cross-country? ¢ trial version. During loading, the Garmin Mobile application to enter the key. Where can I find the key for the trial version? There is no any CD, sticker or box with the key. And who knows it send a mail from Toshiba? On the official website, there are some phones only, but I can't call them I need e-mail.

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hello!

Where can I find F55 film? I have just seen on vimeo that you will find

the search for the "Sony F55" point. The problem is all these video make

run away from me this camera, especially these "day and night tests.

Does anyone know a commercial example taken with this camera?

  • I would like to replace a with an equivalent Canon Sigma lens.

The lens is a Sigma 70-300mm 1:4-5. 6 DG with macro.  Which Canon lens would come close? The body is a T3i Rebal EOS.

    Thank you

If you are serious about on the side of the fauna of it think the Canon 100-400 L IS lens, or even the Sigma 50-500 OS (kinda big & heavy for hand holding a large part) and read existing threads on the 100-400 & the 400 f5.6. It is a much better scope for wildlife that only 300 mm. You should also consider a good Macro lens for near work place that is not something I do, I'll let the others he made recommendations.

  • 2 X extensions

I do mainly video and timelapse, my main goal for wildlife is Canon 70-300 L, on a 70 d in mode video he can give me up to almost 1500 mm for close ups (fire and keep breath please). Sometimes, if the subject allows me, after doing my videos, I draw pictures and - as you can imagine, 300mm (480 on apsc) is not that close and feel the need of longer focal length, price and weight that can not afford, 71 and pensioneer right now. After studying for more than a year the likelihod of getting an Extender for the 70-300 I decided to give it a go with the KENKO C - AF 1.4 X TELEPLUS PRO 300, not with some reluctance, because I know that tradition with Kenko, Tamron, Sigma, Vivitar, etc.on for decades was actually not expensive poor lens. I had a Sigma 18-35 F1.8 now and wow!

To my surprise... the extension works very well with the lens, the AF is as fast as the only lens and the quality of the image, after a X 16 upwards is still pretty decent. I do F8-11at least on my shooting (F16 + video) but the trial was made at full aperture.

Now I would like to push the limits, or at least ask a real experience about this, Kenko Teleplus Pro 300 DGX - E 2.0 X.

I am aware that the autofocus to f11 is off but I am only concerned about image resolution and quality in general, I normally work in mode manual since 1970s a-1 guns and of course later in various formats videothru 5...

    Thanks in advance

    Carlo

What is the question?  Ask yourself if the IQ will still be good?  If you are we all not it won't.  But it can be satisfying for you and that's what counts.  Not that I think about it.

Converters go the Kenko is a good.  So is the Sigma version.  I love the TV converters and never use one of the 2 x.  However, I had good luck with my Canon 1.4 x II on the ef 70-200 mm f2.8L II lens.  I guess that for a person without another option, it is viable.

  • Canon lens EF 70-200mm L F4 USM + 2 X L series extender

Hi, I have a Canon lens EF 70-200mm L F4 USM. Now, I want to buy an extension of series X L 2. Can someone help me by informing that AF can work with EF 70-200mm L USM F4 + 2 X Extender mounted on 650 d device and how much image quality I have to make compromises for the same thing.

    mithun_pal129 wrote:

Thank you all for your valuable comments. I forgot to mention that my intension of extender to my EF 70-200mm L F4 USM in a telephoto lens for wildlife / birds. But now that I'm your stay in Abu Dhabi, he is not paid a lot of bird / wild life. This is why I don't want to spend a lot on super telephoto, and personally, I don't want to go to cheap Sigma lens. So I wanted to do objective 70-200mm + 2 Expander x 140-400 mm. As I myself feel 1.4 X extender is pretty good, but it will give me up to 280mm. I know that's not very good lens for bird / wild raise photography. But you want to know still is feasible or if I use 2 x Extender to make the 400mm autofocus lens is required for the wild life or manual focus can still operate at F8. I don't have a lot of experience in the photography of wild life that's why I wanted to know things.

    In a Word... N °

Of a 2 X teleconverter on a 70-200/4 made for a lens of 140-400/8 "effective." Due to the reduction of light reaching the AF sensors, your camera will turn off autofocus. A stronger 2 X also "costs" more loss of quality of the image due to the deterioration.

It is possible to tape on some of the electronic contacts on the focal length multiplier, so that the camera does not know it is there and always try to auto focus. However, the autofocus will be much slower and will tend to hunt much more.

In some situations, you may be able to manually update. However, effective f8 makes for a pretty weak sight, most cameras update automatic modern as you do not have some fo the features allowing the development manual, vintage cameras designed for the manual focus had in the past. Some people change to one-third of frosted glass to add functionality to support manual focus (split finder image, micro diaprisms, for example). However this requires careful work to install the screen and the display of different can affect precision measurement of the camera, especially in the incorrect Spot metering.

Addition of a lower 1.4 X teleconverter makes your lens in effect 112-280mm f5.6, who will still be updated with auto focus and will be much less loss of image quality, but not as much 'reach. If yours is a goal IS, it can reasonably be handholdable. If it is not a goal IS, you will need to watch your shutter speeds than blur carefully, probably should keep to 1/500 or more quickly to avoid the camera. Or use a tripod, as suggested by ebibgs, or at least a monopod. You also need to limit the autofocus on your camera to the central AF point only, I think.

    ebiggs1 wrote:

On your camera, the 70-200mm f4 is like a 112-320mm f4.  With a converter 1. 4 x, looking at 448mm f5.6 and th elong end.  + 400 mm should be long enough for you to get photos of some birds.  BTW, use a tripod.

While it is technically correct, citing the "crop camera lens factor" in this way may not help much, can be confusing.

The original poster has simply a 70-200mm lens which they are accustomed to using on a crop sensor camera. They would now like to double the range of this lens on their camera. Crop sensor lens incorporating conversation factor is very useful when the user goes from frame of film/full to reframe the camera or vice versa. For someone who has never used a film camera or has not used one for many years and is now completely accustomed to how behaves a lens of focal length on their device to harvest, it is a completely moot point.

But what he's basically saying that while you can add a 2 X, it is probably not a good idea for several reasons. Auto focus will work or not, with a few tips, won't work only weakly. Manual focus will be difficult. And the picture quality might take too big a hit, combining a 2 X with your goal. .

I have a 70-200/4 IS, 70-200/2.8 IS ("Mark I"), 1. 4 X II and 2 X Teleconverters II. I also have long telephoto lenses, so rarely need to add these zooms teleconverter. However if necessary I would use 1.4 X on one of them. But even if AF still work on the 70-200/2.8 + 2 X combo, I won't use it because of the amount of loss of image quality (the most recent IS of 70 - 200/2.8 Mark II and 2 X Mark III are supposed to work together better, than my older versions of each).

I use mostly 2 X on 300/2.8 and 500/4 lenses privileged where the image quality is still good. (Note: Yes, on some of my cameras 2 X 500/4 causes AF to stop working, as it would on your f4 lens, so I only use the combo on a limited basis.)

mithun_pal129... I would say the more you get a 1. 4 X and use it with your goal. See if the image quality is to your expectations. Then work to get closer to your subjects. Or bring them closer to you. Practice the techniques of stalking and to study the behaviors of your subjects to discover ways to get closer. Work in a blind and use bait (food, calls). And start saving for a lens of longer focal length.

The Canon 1.4 X II and III teleconverters are excellent. All Canon teleconverters have mated before elements that limit the lenses that they physically can be attached, but the 70-200 are among those where this is possible. Teleconverter Kenko is another that I see quite often recommended. They have two different levels of quality: a more expensive "Pro 300" version and a cheaper "MC - 4". These are currently offered in versions "DGX" whose operation is very similar to Canon teleconverters. Old Kenko teleconverters "DG" not "reported" to the camera, the camera didn't know they were there, so try to focus.  In the view of users and tests I've seen, the current Kenko Pro 300 DGX is pretty good overall of the entire image area. The MC - 4 cheaper is actually a little sharper in the Center, but not as strong in the corners and the edges of the image. Tamron and Sigma teleconverters also do, but I have little experience or knowledge of the current versions of the people.

The wildlife/bird photography is not easy. Since no matter how long a goal that you have, there are times when the subjects are just out of reach and all you can go is to sit back and enjoy the show.

These photos of small subjects with different, but close to or less than the effective focal length even lenses like your 70-200 mm + a 1. 4 X teleconverter would be on your camera...

According to the website of Bulletstorm, this game is not compatible with Windows 8 until Epic releases a patch.  Nothing we do to help you.  You will need to contact Epic for an ETA on the patch.

The solution is to manually install Games For Windows Live, to do this and you won't be hard to play, it worked for me and loads of others.

The laptop was equipped with Wlan 802.11 b/g/n and integrated GPS. Seems the BT is not available and you cannot insert an internal BT module. I think that external amn BT USB stick would be ok too.

    > Is it possible to add the second hard drive for this model?
    I don t think so.

    > Is there any modem HSPA (on PCI Express Mini) compatible with this laptop?
I put t found all ports on this laptop modem so it seems that there is a modem installed and there is no possibility for any update.

The laptop seems to support the FM tuner and antenna. It s allows you to have the radio with you wherever you are

  • NEW 3D LUT for F55 and F65

    All,

We have created four LUT 3D for your rating pleasure. If please see below to download and do not forget to read the document before using to understand their function

Because of differences in the reproduction of colors between F5 and F55, we will publish separate for each camera 3D LUT. These 3D LUT we provide now is for F55 and F65.

You can use them for the F5 as if necessary starting point, but we will post specific F5 3D LUT which will more accurately represent the gamut of specific color F5

    Concerning

    Peter

Specifically, I'm pretty sure that if you use these lut on hardware of the range S F5, things will be a bit saturated.

Of course you can call the low saturation after the fact and get pretty close to correct, but a specific LUT F5 would be ideal.

Things like the foliage green and blue neon shot with an F5 might look a bit out of control with these lut...

  • NEW optical filter 2K for F55 and F5 CBK-55F2K Option

    All,

We will release a new optical filter 2K for the F55 and F5, called the CBK-55F2K Option.

The CBK-55F2K translates into 'softer, more organic' imagery when shooting in 4K. When shooting HFR in 2 K RAW the new filter will result in a more pleasant imagery.

The filter is easy to install, it only takes a few minutes. You can switch back with your filter in the unit if necessary.

See the image below. Price, availability and additional information will come soon

    Concerning

    Peter

If it's a Moire/aliased filter then it is for these reasons:

    http://philipbloom.NET/2011/09/13/moire-2/

They help, but they impact the image otherwise both swings and roundabouts. I still prefer ProMist filter for the cinematographic work.

  • Electronic mount EF for F5/F55?

I've searched around and have heard conflicting reports on an electronic EF Mount for F5/F55. I mean by "electronic" opening contronl of Canon EF lenses.

Is it that this will be a future option for these cameras or there will be just a silent mount? I see a lot of F5s sales if there is indeed an electronic Assembly. Thank you.

I am currently using the FZ Optitek to mount EF with the controller "Optitron" on a Sony F3. It works as advertised.

    Thank you (I own a canon 1100D)

Your budget is a bit low for a goal of large animals, but the Canon 70-200 F4 L could meet your other needs. It's a very good goal two IQ wise and AF spped is excellent. Another interesting research choice are the Tamron 70-300 VC or maybe the second version of the 18-270 VC. (I had the original version & it was a very good goal, but not a 'great' lens).

  • Message 'the underlying connection was closed unexpectedly' when you enter the serial number for the weather and wildlife program.

Original title: message "the underlying connection was closed unexpectedly.

I use an updated, newly installed Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows XP. I downloaded and installed a program called the weather and wildlife and when I enter my serial number for verification in order to access the program I get an error box that says: "the underlying connection was closed: the connection was closed unexpectedly."

I tried to disable the firewall, but this does not solve the problem. I do not have antivirus software installed so that either cannot interfere.
Any suggestion will be highly appreciated!

    Hello Srimadhwa,

Thanks for your suggestions. The internet connection works properly on the computer.
When I wrote my first question I had difficulties to access weather data and wildlife in every web browser I've used. For example, I tried to download the software from the download page of W & W and in Explorer, it would get a page that says "Cannot display Page". Other browsers had other types of errors. Finally, the company sent me a file of the program that I installed but then when I entered the serial number, I would get the message "the underlying connection was closed unexpectedly.
This morning I tried again to download the program from the W & W page and also to enter my serial number for the installed program and it seems that the W & W database is connected successfully, but now I get a message saying that the serial number is invalid (which is certainly not the case).
Since for some unknown reason the databased WW can now access my computer I have now will contact the company to see why my serial number is rejected.
    Thanks a lot again!
  • Lens options for shooting of Doco on the F55

    Hi all

I have a 55 on order, I'll be partly rented through a rental home, here in London and in part from my own shooting. I don't plan on buying prime numbers-people rent out will have the advantage of the Cookes and the rental company Zeiss - but I am wanting an option to zoom for my shooting corporate and factual.

I know that the 18-252, that Sony is still there, but it's my only option in the price range? He has an amazing range but obviously not very quickly, and I can't imagine this lens has been con¸u for 4K shot.

I considered the Canon EF series L lenses via an adapter of MTF Services, but I'm afraid that I'm sacrificing convenient useablity (and maybe image quality?) here. Same thing with older Nikon lenses that I have. That said, I use on the C300 and appreciated EF lenses.

I'm really curious to know what other operators plan to use for more work doco and factual, because I'm pretty unsure which way to go at the moment.

    Thank you

  • What lens for all around wildlife?
