Light usable on taking power, but when the power cable is removed, the screen goes dark, you can hardly see.

Indicator shows fully charged battery. No difference when fn and f10 or f9 used.

    Hello
I heard a key combination that makes possible the setting screen brightness.
Is this true and what is the key combination?

    Hi Daniel,.

Normal for thie keys Fn + F7 to increase brightness and Fn + F6 to decrease. But the different laptop models use different key combinations, so I would check your user manual to see which ones is correct for your laptop.

  • Reduce the brightness of the screen in night Mode

Is there a way to reduce the brightness of the screen when the phone is in the standard dock and bedside/alarm clock mode?

  • How to reduce the brightness of the screen under the standard level

    Hello!

How to reduce the brightness of the screen under the standard level in ThinkPad T520?

I think we can somehow, but I don't know how. I reduced the brightness to zero with the Fn button + button end, but this is not enough, I want to make the screen darker, because my eyes get tired.

The last (from Lenovo) Intel graphics driver is here:
    http://support.Lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/MIGR-77038

This should provide a decent lower limit on the brightness. If the installation complains about the non supported hardware, force the installation using the devices and Disk Manager. (Something like this: http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/11997-have-disk-method-for-windows-7-vista/ )

If this does not work, try f.lux (https://justgetflux.com/). It has a dimming function software (of course, he loses the contrast).

  • Screen brightness when plugged dims or decreases and increases when on battery

The power settings seem to completely reverse... When it is plugged: brightness can be adjusted between 0-40%, but beyond that, the cursor moves, but screen remains at the same brightness.

When on battery: brightness can be adjusted from 0-100% and screen brightness follows the cursor correctly.

    Hi aneela786,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. What is the number of brand and model of the laptop?

Many laptop manufacturers have a setting in the BIOS to correct the brightness on the laptop when the power or battery.

I suggest that you check in the basic input/output system BIOS if you have such an option available.

For additional help, you can contact the manufacturer of the laptop.

I would also say that you update the drivers of basic input/output system BIOS and Chipset on the laptop by contacting the manufacturer of the laptop.

  • I can reduce the brightness of the screen of the BIOS?

I have HP Pavilion dv7 7003 - portable tx which has 17.3 "FHD display. I have 2 simple questions that I have not found someone asked before.

First question. I can easily adjust brightness laptop computer under Windows 7. But the BIOS screen full backlit. Normally, it is not a problem (because of the black of the screen IE "Press ESC for Boot Menu" and the Windows Logo on a black background). But when I access the BIOS Setup or upgrade of BIOS (of course), it's no doubt noticeable that this laptop backlit is complete before starting Windows. When I connect the laptop with an HDTV via HDMI, BIOS Configuration screen backlit is bearable in the screen of the TV (depending on the setting of the TV) and unbearable (IE full backlit and white background of the HP BIOS configuration) in the screen of the laptop at the same time. It is a problem of laptop screen adjustment. I want to adjust the brightness of the laptop regardless of starting Windows screen. I can reduce the brightness of the screen of the BIOS in your laptop monitor?

Second question. Can I put in screen laptop for something like "fit screen"? Currently, it is set to something like "Stretch screen. I don't like the duct Chassis Windows startup Logo. However, under Windows, I can play 4:3 resolution games in something like setting "fit screen".

    Thank you.

Not the F2 and F3 keys is not a function in the BIOS. The screen cannot be cleared up or dimmed inside the BIOS.

For the issue of screen resolution, the resolution provided for within Windows should also be the resolution on login/Welcome screen. Try to reset your resolution in Windows (without an attached external monitor), and then restart it a few times to see if the resolution sticks throughout the boot process. • Displayport ENVY causes battery lose detection and performance max brightness

    I have a HP ENVY 17 - 3D was released in early 2012, running Windows 7.

It has 1 HDMI port and 2 additional display ports. The graphics card is ATI HD 7690 M XT and supports switchable graphics on the fly.

The processor chip is 2nd generation Intel Quad Core i7.

    Problem

When I use the displayport cable "Displayport to DVI" connector active, my battery would not be detected, and the brightness of the computer screen laptop builtin automatically tops out at 100%, without the possibility of reducing its brightness in my custom settings powerplan (100% light is bright for me). I recently started to use the displayport to send video clips as extended desktop to an old monitor LCD of Sony, which has instead of the latest HDMI DVI. The HDMI port has now been connected to the flat screen TV. Even if I converted the portable/DVI on the old Sony HDMI signal, and only a monstercable adapter-nothing fancy, I never lost the features. This started to happen when I started using the display port...

However, as soon as I return to the HDMI output that is unique to all monitors, my battery is still visible, and I can adjust the brightness of the screen through my powerplan again...

This problem is only apparent when I use display port...

Finally, the catalyst software is the original that came with the machine I can't update this because nothing else apparently takes in charge the switchable graphics and have had bad luck with the newer versions... If I'm wrong please let me know...

    What I try to do

Very simply, the laptop's HDMI port will connect directly to a TV dish 1080 p SAMSUNG. This image is simply a mirror of the laptops display, which is also the same resolution - 1080 p. The old Sony monitor simply connects to the Displayport now via an active adapter 'Displayport - to - DVI' to use the extended desktop.

Overall, it's just 1 screen flat TV cloned/updates mirrored on the laptops display in the same resolution (1080 p), and 1 smaller screen for the range of extended desktop. So 3 screens are light in total:

Laptop + SAMSUNG TV via HDMI direct (in mirror and identical - the two 1080 p resolution)

Monitor Sony via displayport using '-Displayport to DVI-' active adapter.

Everything else works fine - I just lost my battery and the ability to control my screen brightness, which is huge for us with power outages and have reduced the brightness...

If anyone has had this problem and what should I do?

    Any help appreciated...

    Thank you very much

    GIO

    Hi @GGHP2016,

    Thank you for the update.

If you remove the battery and always start your laptop, you can use your laptop without the battery.  If you leave the battery installed you can still use it on current alternative.

  • Satellite R25 Tablet screen - brightness Horizontal gradient - problems

    Hi all

I have a strange problem with my screen. When I use two brightness levels lower my screen isn't constantly bright he has degraded landscape. Research on the left side, I have very dark screen, near Middle there is the normal brightness after dark Middle again and in the form of o end/right side is clear.

This anomaly is smarter than on two lower levels of brightness, when I want to extend my battery life.
I was replacing my Windows XP, but without any positive results.

The screen must be replaced, or y at - it another way to fix it?

I'm afraid that it is material. I can't say with certainty that the display is faulty but if bring you the technician can test it with special diagnostics tools.
As you can see fresh OS installation didn't help and he can't be software problem. Sorry, but I don't think there is anything you can do alone to fix. If possible continue to use display with acceptable light level.

    For example:

Do you use your laptop on battery when this happens?

It is a setting I believe you can disable in the Intel graphics settings. Mine does the same thing - it's supposed to save energy.

    Hello

Here are a few things to check.

    1. right click of the battery icon in the toolbar and select Power Options.  Click on change settings for the plan alongside your selected power plan, and in the next window, click on change advanced power settings.  In the advanced settings window, expand display, and then expand Enable Adaptive brightness - make sure it is set to Off for on battery and sector.  Click apply then Ok to save the configuration changes.

2 open windows control panel and on the top right, next to the display by: select "large icons".  In the new page layout, select Intel HD Graphics.  Click the power and in the next screen, select on battery in the left pane - under the Display Power Saving Technology option, put on Disable.  Click on apply and then OK to save any setting changes.
