Hello
For Vista, F8 is the mothod of Dell to get Vista back to factory settings.
Here is the information from Dell on how to do it.
You dual-boot, so you could destroy the Dell recovery Partition.
If you have, call Dell for recovery disks.

The difficulty to restore my laptop to factory setting.
I came home one day to find that there was a virus on my HP Pavilion Dv7 - 4009tx Enterainment Notebook PC and since I had important things backed up on my external hard drive I have much better just to restore my laptop back to factory settings, I find the best way to get rid of problems like this. (they rarely anyway).
So I turned off my phone and then launch it and press F11, the window with three boxes popped up, I already knew what to do but the ability to set my laptop to factory settings was not in the first box where it should be, thinking that I made a mistake I looked on the internet and it said : this is how you do it. Confused out of my mind as to where the option went I tried the three other options available in the "I need help immediately" box and however the laptop has restored back to factory settings, but not completely, programs and software initially provided with the laptop were no where.
I tired the other method to restore using the Restore Manager, option restore my laptop to factory setting was there to my greatest joy and I clicked it expecting it to be restored, but rather after the restart he come to a window with the restoration of the system and repair the start and a few other options.
I'm really lost to restore my laptop to its factory originally settings as I had done a few times before. Nobody knows what is happening or what I'm doing wrong. My laptop runs only two years soon which means that it is not that old to have this kind of weird problems and I really need my laptop to do my uni work, I need to fix as soon as I can.
Hello
Virus problem has probably corrupted the partition on the computer. In this case, you will be unable to perform a factory reset of the recovery partition.
You will need to perform a recovery using the HP recovery discs. If you have not created any recovery media after the purchase, you can order online them or directly call the technical assistance for the embedded discs out to you. This operation brings the computer to factory again.
Here is the link to order online:

The mouse does not work after I restored the IBM thinkpad to the factory setting.
I have an IBM thinkpad with win XP. I restored it back to factory setting. But I couldn't use the mouse more.
spike88,
If it's a brand mouse, you may need to consult the manufacturer for all drivers that may be required. If it's a USB mouse then try another port. You can also update Windows, and then test the mouse. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

I am using ASUS and I want to restore it back to factory setting. I checked google and they show to press F9 and choose Reset the PC. However, I fear the restoration will eliminate the disk OS (usually drive C) and the data drive (usually drive D).
Is there another way?
The update will let your personal files (such as images and documents). But all the programs will be erased and must be installed new yourself using the CD of origin or by downloading new yourself.

I have a phone that was given to me from my father-in-law, it's a phone of one of his former employees that was great in the office. We had no password information, so we tried to reset the phone to wipe and start over. This just finished sending us to a factory setting that requires an Apple ID and password that we don't have. How do I reverse the factory setting, so I'm back to the regular functions of the phone?
Sorry, but you can't. This device is locked to the previous owners iCloud account and password activation. Without their password or their active assistance to disable locking activation, will you not be able to use this device.

Can I go back to the factory setting after a new product windows, was intalled
Windows 7 was installed on my computer (unbeknownst to me) by my friend to kid. I get this thing say activation has expired, and I need a product key. A friend don't know where is the Moose package, so I'm stuck either with the purchase of a product key that is over $ 100 or I wanted to know is any way to restore my system to window Vista? I don't have a CD as Vista is already installed when I purchased computer.
Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I upgraded my laptop Windows 8.1 yesterday and he had some compatibility problems with some applications. I want to restore it before the upgrade but cannot, then I run the Dell backup / recovery of value factory setting, but has no success (the interface at startup is also difference previous execution of recovery).
I tried to run the startup recovery, but pressing F8 can not directly at the interface of recovery.
Could you please say how to restore my laptop? I need to run my old application for my works.
Thank you best regards &,.
LM Hoang.
You cannot use the factory recovery partition once you have upgraded to a new version of Windows (including Windows 8.0 Windows 8.1).
Dell ship no reinstallation DVD with systems and Microsoft do not provide a .iso download for Windows 8.0 or 8.1 Windows for OEM installations.
If you have not completed the USB bootable Dell backup and restoration in advance before installing Windows 8.1 then your only option may be to install the real installation media, i.e. a reinstallation DVD or USB.
If you live in the United States, you can fill the form here: https://www.dell.com/support/diagnostics/us/en/19/nondiagnostichome?dgc=SM&cid=266887&lid=4921161
Unfortunately if you are outside the United States the only option which you rest is to call Support technique Dell to ask for a.
Satellite A200-17O - how to restore Windows to the factory settings?
Hello
I have a Satellite A200-17O. I want to restore Windows Vista to factory settings, I did not need to backup all the files. I don't have the product recovery CD. When I press F8 and click on the "Repair" option, it will give me all the options, but when I click on the option to completely recover the system (the one on the bottom), it will simply open a window telling me to back up my data, then theres a button 'OK', and when I click that, the window will simply close and return to the menu options. All I want is to return Vista to factory settings.
Thank you for your help.
Hello
Yes, normally you can restore your computer laptop initial configuration using disk HARD recovery option. Therefore, you must follow the instructions here:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htmIf it doesn't work, you need to use the Toshiba recovery disc. If your computer laptop didn t come with such a recovery disk you create yourself using recovery preinstalled creator tool. This is mentioned in your user manual, have you checked it?
Therefore, you need a few blank DVDs. I recommend the DVD-R from Verbatim or TDK. Many users here have a good experience with these brands.
If you have any other questions, just after again! ;)
Memory of the Smartphone Application blackBerry and reset to the factory setting.
So, I realized that the application memory decrease gradually. It does not benefit from memory, at the time where I remove apps. I don't understand, but my memory of the application is less than 10 MB. Yes, it's very weak. I think it's one of the reasons why my bb 3g curve was slowing down. If there is a way to get the application memory, it would be a great help.
Because I don't know how to regain the application memory, I thought to reset the phone to factory setting? As in, such as the removal of all on the phone and so it would be like when I got my bb 3g curve. I do a backup on my computer so please tell me if this will work. Yes, the application memory.
Thank you!
