Fabric Interconnect join the cluster

Hello! Experts:

When I join a new FI the cluster, I have to get the same firmware on the new FI before he can join?

It depends on what version of UCS

I think that since 2.1.3 it will automatically synchronize the versions and therefore can join the cluster.

Before, you have the message: version mismatch, cannot join the cluster.

    Hi all

Has anyone seen a problem where an NHP cannot join the cluster?

    We join node of PSN

-Node is saved successfully (current synchronization)

-1 hour later - node replication failure.

-Replication synchronization failed because the secondary database is down

I have a client where admin node and PSN are separated by the firewall.

    We let in two directions

    Firewall not showing drops.

    DNS and NTP are ok.

Current topology is 1 NHP, 1 Admin node.

Works very well in our test lab, but not clients environmnet.

    See you soon

    Peter.

Thank you for the update we and good work on the search for the solution! You should probably mark it as resolved now

In addition, it is quite rare (at least for me) for nodes of ISE to be separated by firewalls. There are a lot of ports/protocols that must be opened between them is usually more of a pain to manage. In addition, sometimes ports will change too. For example, the fueling port agent has been changed not too long ago...

    Thanks for the note!

  • Connection of fabric interconnect with the Cisco MDS switch

I'm new to the unified fabric and try to understand it.

There are clients who connect fabric connects directly to switch MDS without any Nexus 5 K between the two.  If the fabric of interconnections are able to provide connectivity to the LAN and SAN Islands then why you install Nexus 5 K between two switches to add an extra jump.

    Thank you

    Hello

Most of the clients do the following:

-connect FI upstream for example N5k with vPC for Ethernet (IP)

-connect FI upstream for example MDS for the classic FC

This implies that between the blade into the chassis and FI you run FCoE, integrating CF and Ethernet on the same means of transport; then, on the FI, FC and Ethernet is disintegrated.

The other choice would be Multihop FCoE, linking FCoE also FI and N5k and make the disagregation it.

However, if your storage subsystem is FC and FCoE, I wouldn't recommend Multihop FCoE (I see only a minority of clients to do).

  • getting Ref cluster from the cluster control

I have a control ref which is introduced into a Subvi.  The control itself is part of a cluster that is an external code in VI that I work.  I want to get the property label.text of the pole of the control reference within the cluster to which I have access to.  What is the mechanism or the property of the control ref which allows me to join the cluster that contains?

The GObject class must have a property owner. I think for the objects inside a container (such as a cluster), it returns the container. The property itself probably returns a GObject reference, so you cast down to the control class to see the label property.

  • MapListener is not survive after the cluster service is restarted

According to this article, MapListener will survive restart of the service, however, is not what we have seen in our environment.

Re: Link MapListener on restarting the Service

    We use 3.3.1/389.

We have an application running as disabled storage node which acts also as a MapListener on a cache.
This application performs certain actions when entry inserted/updated to day occur.

However, we have observed that when there is network problem, the cluster service will be shutdown. And
This application will not join the cluster after that the network problem go away. Here is what we
light at the end of the journal.

According to this article, this problem could be solved using MemberLister.

Listener for events of cache recovery

If we implement the MemberLister, and we get MemberLeft event when the cluster service has obtained the judgment.
However, we receive no MoreRejoignez event at all when this application join the cluster.

The MemberListener has been added to the CacheService belong to the cache, we added the MapListener. It seems
the MemberListener don't survive that restart CacheService in this case, so no cases of MoreRejoignez received.

Now the question arises. What can we do to ensure that MapListener can survive restarting the cluster service
in our case? Or is there a way for us to detect that the MapListener is not valid more so one reattach necessary?

    Kind regards

    Chen

    Hi Chen,

In the thread of your monitor, instead of CacheFactory.ensureCluster () you can call cache.size () (on a cache that you added another to.)

    Kind regards

  • Adding redundant fabric to interconnect with the existing FI

For UCS, we have a fabric interconnect version 2.1, customer bought a FI more to add to the cluster configuration.

The FI is delivered with the latest firmware, please let me know can downgrade us the new FI and forms a cluster or the upgrade of FI existing to the latest firmware.

Please review best practices for cluster FI configuration.

First change the old standalone cluster mode FI! Not sure if it is without service interruption. In any case, you must plan a maintenance window!

Then, if your old FI minimum 2.1.3, you can add the other FI who, in the boot menu, see the FI counterpart and ask if it should cooperatively as a cluster member, synchronization first firmware (Assembly FI will have same firmware release like the old FI).

    Hope that's clear?

  • Fabric of interconnection in the care of the CF NPIV Switch mode? If anyone can confirm?

    Hello

I'm working on a scenario where a client will make Direct Attach Storage for a pair of UCS fabric of interconnections. It will also need to connect a device of backup based on the CF to the FI. So let's run the s FI mode Switch CF.

There apparently is a virtual machine on the blades which must have virtual HBA running in order to access their specific LUN.

The question is whether the fabric interconnect (version 2.1(3b)) will support NPIV when running in the FC switch mode. Or the GUI or CLI Configuration guide mentions this, and I have not any FI to connect to check.

Can anyone confirm this, either by pointing to a URL where it can be clarified or by connecting a FI Switch FC mode and by:

    connect nxos

    have SH

or see the race |  feature Inc.

and check if the npiv feature is enabled or not?

Thanks a lot for your help

NPIV is by default active! See screenshot below

We want to understand what is the impact of this error and is there something we can do to avoid this error? I also want to know what that might be the cause get this error?

Let me know if anything else is needed from my side

    See the downloaded file technology.

    Amit,

I have reached out to the TAC engineer and will get back to you. In addition, please download tech to see the last UCSM to SR.

"display the State of the extended cluster" would show the State of the cluster.

For core dumps unannounced, you check in the Admin of UCSM tab

  • Fabric interconnecting Cisco high availability

    Hi Experts,

    I would like to know,

    (1) what does fabric adapter interconnection cluster (L1, L2) ports are using high availability?

    (2) can form us able to interconnect fabric and fabric interconnection interconnection 6100 6200 to a cluster? If ok means how they exchange of history since the two are completely different material. ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Jako Raj

    Hello

    (1) L1 and L2 ports are used for the purpose of managing only basically to synchronize data management, triggering a possible failover.

    (2) different hardware platforms are supported in the same cluster only in a process of upgrading equipment. Actually what really happens in this meanwhile is the copy of the configuration and the new FI is promoted as primary. Although he works as a group, he is an active-standby cluster, where a single FI acts as principal.

    Kind regards

  • Node property of a control inside the cluster within a table

I created a control that has a cluster to a Boolean, a string, and a digital.  Then, in my front, I created a table of these custom controls.  I wish I had access to the property of the controls inside the cluster in the table.  That is to say, I want to change the color of the Boolean or blinking, or "disable and gray" text box.  I think I'm on the right track, or maybe I'm on the wrong track.  I joined and example VI (testtray.vi) and control that I use (UUT_Display.ctl).  Please excuse the use of a flat Structure of the sequence, I know it is bad programming practices, but I just wanted to throw something together.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kevin

Items in a table can have different values, BUT each element of the table share the same properties.

"Blink" is a property when you make one in tha table blink you will all Flash.

This restriction does not apply to clusters.

So in theory, you could develop an XControl that has a data type is an array, but the display is actually a cluster that resembles a table. But write an XControl is not a trivial task.

  • 6248 fabric interconnects FC interfaces and MDS ports license

    Hello

I need help. I need to configure port-channel of CF between 2 x 9148 MDS and 2 x Cisco fabric interconnects. My main problem here is interfaces CF appear not on the fabric of interconnections (UCS Manager). I don't see ethernet ports. I have to turn on the unified ports or do I license for CF?

I also connected the ds-sfp-fc8g-sw FPS but I get the error "operation status failed, reason: SFP Validation failed.

Another thing, all 48 FC ports on switches DMS 9148 acquire the license. Aren't they supposed to come with 16 ports enabled by default?

    Any ideas?

    Hi Selby

6248 FI unified ports, by default, all are Ethernet; so as a first step, you must configure the FC ports.

You just need Ethernet port licenses, which are also universal.

    See, for example.

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/3763853#3763853

For SDM 9148 licenses take a look on

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/storage-networking/MDS-9148-multilayer-fabric-switch/data_sheet_c78-571411.html

    There are packages with

Cisco MDS 9148 48 - Port Multilayer Fabric Switch with 16, 32 or 48 active ports of 8 Gbps

    Good luck

  • Port-channel problem between fabric Interconnect and vPC N7K

    Hi all

I have a problem with the Port Uplink channel between fabric interconnect with N7K using vPC

It's my network for the UCS deployment topology

N7K I configured vPC for red link and green linkto the fabric Interconnect A I has configured the Port-Channel with Member is Port 1 and Port 2, uplink is red link. Interconnection fabric B, I have configured the Port-Channel with Member's Port 1 and Port 2, uplink's green link.

The interface port-channel on N7K show is good, each port-channel upwards and have all members. But the fabric Interconnnect, when I see in the UCS Manager, the status of the Port-Channel on Fabic A and fabric B dysfunction not more info: no operational Member. Although all the link is a link to the top and I've got the status of the Port Channel is enabled in the UCS Manager. When I see the properties Port 1, Port to Port-Channel 2, I see the number of members status is: individual. This means channel port is not up and no member in this configuration. I want to using the port-channel load balance and more bandwidth for the uplink of 20Gig. I don't understand why?

Please help me solve this problem, I have to send the screenshot of UCS Manager when I show the status of the Port-Channel and Port-member in port-channel to reach items.

Can someone help me solve this problem, thanks a lot. References, please include elements for more details on the fault.

    Thank you

    Trung.

    Hello Nguyen,

Since the two N7k please collect:

    SH cdp nei

SH run membership in. X int

    SH sum port-chan

    Thank you

  • Fabric Interconnect inventory is not complete

    Hello

I recently started to see this message in our environment of UCS.

    XXXXXX00 - A # shows fault
Gravity last Transition time Code ID Description

    Major F0885 2015 - 11-01 T 20: 48:03.980 2489810 fabric Interconnect B inventory is not complete card-inventory,eth-pc-inventory,eth-port-inventory,fc-pc-inventory,fc-port-inventory,mgmt-port-inventory,remote-eth-port-inventory,switch-fru,switch-inventory

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to clear this error or where to start to look for clues as to its origin? Google search didn't donnГ anything fruitful. I see no problem in operations I can say as it may sound, everything works fine on the two FI. Is there maybe a way to force a further verification of the inventory or something like that?

    Thanks for any information.

    Kind regards
