• Flash integrated into Facebook videos do not appear when played

  My computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, Internet Explorer 11 and Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145. I have Microsoft Security Essentials and a copy on Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to protect me against viruses and malware, and my IT Department confirms that there is no malware infection plays a role here.

  However, I feel something weird and very frustrating reading all Adobe Flash videos that are embedded inside Facebook.com, including those that are shared from YouTube. Opening of the same YouTube video on YouTube.com does not produce the same behavior - videos YouTube ALWAYS play well on YouTube.com (whether embedded or full-screen), but NEVER play fine when they are integrated within a Facebook post.

  NOTE: The same videos work EXACTLY as PLANNED for Firefox and Google Chrome, so this seems to be a problem specific to IE. It started at the time where I was running IE10 and continued to IE11 wire.

  Here is what is happening in the two Internet Explorer 10 and 11:

  1. In my Facebook News feed, I search for a video I want to watch. Before pressing Play, I still see a shot of the video with the play icon transposed on the top of the image.
  2. I click on the play icon to play the video in embedded mode of Facebook (where I can see the other news messages above and below the video).
  3. The image disappears and turns white (no borders, just white). Along the bottom edge of the video is a bar containing the play/pause, volume, maximize buttons etc. Behind these buttons, I can see a view faded still - moving on the lower edge of the video, but the rest of the video area is completely white.
  4. I hear audio that plays, even if I can't see one frame other than the lower edge, that I have just described.
  5. If I click the maximize button on the lower right part of the video, the clip opens to fill the screen and all of a sudden, the video image appears and runs as expected.
  6. If I press ESC to exit the view to enlarge it, returns to the screen (with the video back to the context of RSS) Facebook integrated, but the image turns white again just as in step 3, with audio that plays again as in step 4.
  7. Make a right-click on the offending video brings up a menu drop-down indicating that the video is to use Adobe Flash Player 14.0.0.145.

  Other videos shared on Facebook, like those of vimeo.com, play without any problem in the Facebook.com even news from view, regardless of whether they are built-in or mode full screen. Only the videos using Adobe Flash Player seem to be affected here.

  I tried the following:

  • Uninstalled Adobe Flash Player. Reset. Open Facebook.com, you can find the video in the news feed, which indicates that the Adobe Flash must be installed. Click on the link provided and install Adobe Flash on adobe.com. Return to the video in my RSS on facebook.com and click play. Same behavior such as described above - no change.
  • Addition of facebook.com and youtube.com to my list of Trusted Sites. No change.
  • Addition of facebook.com and youtube.com to view Internet Explorer compatibility, you exit all instances of the browser, has reopened. No change.
  • Checked for unusual browser - nothing found extensions.
  • Cleared web cache, deleted cookies, resets the browsers to default and no advanced - settings default settings unchanged
  • Updates of Windows - all upgrades are underway.
  • Ran full scans with Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. No malware or the problems detected. No problem found with roguekiller, adwcleaner and other related malware either tools.

  Any suggestions for me here? I really just click Play to see the video, as anyone can. FYI, all the other computers (Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8) on my network play these same videos and IE9, IE10, IE11 without the problems I am having with this one. Of course, I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

  This not the time.  It is not ideal, but you have two options to work, which is better than nothing.

  In all likelihood, content providers will have to change the code to meet IE11 and superior.  I spent a lot of time this week examine some technical tips that we put together for the developers, but the long and less, is that IE wants developers to stop writing the code that handles the IE differently from other browsers.

  IE has a history of not working exactly as the other browsers, and for a variety of reasons (including how JavaScript and Flash communicate with each other), the developers as normal practice wrote a lot of code to deal specifically with these quirks in Internet Explorer.

  Out of this impossible situation where they want the markup to be the same for all browsers, but having all this code specifically targeted on the IE due the long legacy to be problematic for web developers, IE masquerades as something else and disables features such as conditional comments that target IE code.

  The net result is that a lot of things is broken in IE11.  We work closely with Microsoft to be good partners and to help in this transition with some technical modifications on our end, but developers will have to change their code and/or update the underlying libraries everywhere on the web.  This will not happen from one day to the next.  Large suppliers of content with more resources will likely exceed the speed of small sites with less developers, but it will be months or years before it shakes.

  You have installed the so-called business version of Skype. The only difference between the regular version and business, is that the business version has disabled all Facebook integration options.

  If you want to be able to connect to Facebook from Skype, then you must uninstall the currently installed version 6.14.32.104 and install the version regular 6.14.0.104 using this msi installer:

• Facebook icon missing

  Hi all

  I add the Facebook integration in my multi-Folio app, but then sharing the article there is an empty slot where an icon should go, I added all the icons that are specified in the Facebook Developer Portal already. No idea what could happen?

  

  I heard about the team. It is a known performance issue. In some cases, the screenshot is taken from page until the content has been loaded. This question has not yet been resolved.

• Contacts and Facebook update / sync

  I got married last Saturday, my wife has changed her last name on facebook, and I've changed changed its coordinates in Gmail, and yet my Droid still shows its former name.

  Stangely, his contact took his new picture from facebook, but he refuses to change the name.

  Congratulations on the marriage!  I know it is a large number of measures aimed at getting something to work, but I have had many problems with facebook and found this to reset the whole facebook integration.  I would first go in facebook or on the facebook home screen, press menu, close the session.  After that you be disconnected, go to the phone home screen, press menu, settings, accounts and sync, and make sure that your facebook account is not listed there.  Remove your name from wifes from the contacts list.  Delete no problem now that the facebook integration is not.  Add him as the correct name, and then add all its info. This should give the contact and have the phone think it is someone else rather than modify the existing one.  Then I open facebook and log in again and it should sync and the correct name.  As I said, I had a lot of problems with facebook and sync and necessary most of the time I made a change any.  I really hope that's not too bad and works for you.

  I know it is contained to the left or to the right of the portion of the screen I see because I can get by using the arrow keys on some Internet sites. On other sites, the arrows do not move the screen, but I know that it is contained on the side because I can see the edges of the images and buttons.

  I tested two other browsers on the example site that I mentioned above. Internet Explorer does not have the problem, Chrome has the same problem with the scroll bar, like Firefox.

  This problem is tolerable on Web sites were the arrows are a substitute, but on other sites, it makes the site unusable.

  I have disabled all browser extensions, and that did not solve the problem. Change the screen resolution has no effect on the problem. I use Windows XP on a ten year old desktop computer. Windows updates are installed automatically.

  While I don't see anything poking out around the edges of this page, I'm blocking part of the content of the site (e.g., Facebook integration, text-link advertising), so very likely your seems different from mine.

  When you compare IE on the same page, what types of photos/buttons do you find on the edges?

I reinstalled with the back three times. It stops working again in a few hours to reinstall. Search Google says it might be iCloud or Facebook integration. Help, please.

  Same thing for me. It's extremely annoying! The only way to keep it from constantly crashing is constantly in contact with the screen with a finger...

• PSE 8 questions

  Currently I have PSE 7 and were frustrated with playing movies in HD from my point and shoot, the lack of automatic facial recognition of the tags and no integration of facebook.  I've been playing with switching to Picasa that has all of the above.  Now with PSE 8 - it seems that face recognition is, but I read the posts on choppy video playback.  I was faithful to Adobe, using elements at the time when it was just an organizer.  I like the layout and ease of marking.  I have a collection of photos of big, labeled, that is why I hesitate to switch to another program.

  1. is there an approval process for the face recognition?  What happens if he tags the wrong person?

  3. can I run the PSE7 and 8 to try PSE8 for myself, without messing up my PSE7 catalog?  I would use the same photos to both versions so I can test with precision PSE8.

  You can change the tags assigned by facial recognition.  There's no integration with Facebook.  You can have multiple versions installed PES, and that they do not interfere with each other.  When you install the trial version of PSE 8, it will convert a copy of your catalog of PSE 7, leaving the original intact.

  What can be done if anything.

  Pages that use "mixed content" (parts of the use of the HTTP page and some use HTTPS) are not secure against tampering, they will not display the site identity button. To resolve this problem, make sure that external resources you are incorporation are available over HTTPS and you use HTTPS to nest them.
