  Go to the eMachine site and search for instructions - if you can't find them, after the model number right back here, and we'll take a look.

  I have a HP Pavilion DV6-3090TX about 2 years. A few months back my laptop froze and wouldn't restart normally. I wiped the hard drive and installed a version on the theme of windows 7 (30 days activation is already passed) so I can continue to use it (in the middle of my Uni term) because I didn't have the original Windows 7 disc that was used to install on my laptop. A few days ago, my battery is dead (no longer charges-warning about replacing the battery keeps popping up) and I think it's because of the incompatibility between the os and the hardware. I want to order recovery disks for my laptop to prevent other problems like this happen and hope you re - install windows 7 Home premium that came with it originally.

  Question 2-if my warranty has expired, can I pay and how much?

• Rescue & recovery problem

I also have the full Lenovo product recovery discs.  I wanted to give my laptop a charity so I decided to use the disks RRD to restore laptop to factory settings.  I used the completely erase the HD and restore disks.  It went well until the end.  Now whenever it starts up it comes up with the RR menu.  I'm not coming with WinXP that was installed initially.  I have not all discs in WinXP.  It is on the Lenovo product recovery discs?

  I thought that would restore it on the PRD discs original settings but I can do something wrong.

  I found the answer via Google and here it is for anyone who has the same problem.

  1. If you have the Lenovo product recovery disks then run the complete set of disks.  This will completely erase your hard drive and copy backup the original factory programs.

  2. Once you have done this, restart your laptop and it will go back to the right in the Rescue and Recovery menu.

  This time, just say to restore settings without using any cd inserted in the cd drive.

  I suggest to call HP to see if your hard drive already replaced has a warranty on it. If so, they should be replaced even if your warranty has expired.

• external hard drive partition removal

  WD external hard drive has bought recently.  He had a factory partion and I can't remove it.  Disk management I tried and do me not (as an administrator) to remove it.  I can change the drive letter, but not anymore.  It shows up as a CD drive. but this is not a cd.  I have not installed the factory program that came with the disk that is on this partition (665 mb).  Rather I copied information from the computer to the disk manually (I know not so old school).  I want the missing drive, but have failed so far.  Probably should have formatted drive until I copied the data on it, but too late now (it took 8 hours to copy all the data).

  The partition you make reference to contains the WD SmartWare software. So you can successfully unlock your drive on each computer that you connect to.
