Factory restore settings questions

(I think it is better to explain why I want to do but if you just want to answer my questions restoration, feel free to skip the next paragraph. (Thank you.)

I currently have El Capitan and wanted to reinstall can Windows partition because I want more space, but after deleting the partition and set up the new partitions, I came across some problems during the installation of windows, in which he said that the drive was GPT partition or something like that. I've lost 3 days trying different solutions in various sites, including this and have yet to make it work so I decided to just restore my Mac for its original OS and reinstall my Windows then just upgrade to El Capitan again.

My questions are:

1. it would be the first time that I do this, but from what I've read and watched, what are the exact steps to restore my mac to its factory settings?

a. restart the Mac.

b. hold the cmd + r

c. Select utility disk under the window utility for OS X

d. Select the partition (Macintosh HD)

e. clear it for OS X (journaled)

f. utility disc close

g. click on reinstall OS X under OS X utility window

h. click on continue

i. choose my drive

j. click on install

2. what would be the OS X installed on my newly formatted partition? Would it still El Capitan (my current operating system before formatting) or Mountain Lion (the operating system original on my Air mid-2013)?

1. who are the instructions for a method of creating a new installation of operating system of the computer current in Leo or newer. Any process of creating a vacuum volume can be used instead.

2. El Capitan. To reload the original operating system, press Option as well in the second step.

    Hello

Just bought a used computer (Equium A200-196) and want to restore it back to factory settings. Am a little nervous to do it without the restore disks.

    * Is it possible to get a restore CD from the restore settings already on the computer *, just in case it does not work!

Or should I just bite the bullet and go?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Well, if the Toshiba recovery disc creator is preinstalled on your laptop and the HARD drive recovery image files are available on the second partition, then you will be able to create the Toshiba recover disc.
In addition, you can also try to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.

    For more information, check this:

If the two would not work, then you can order this disk to recover from here:

Several weeks ago, I did a factory restore on my Dell ispiron settings count (Vista OS).  Since that time I have a strange problem with printing.  All updates to Windows Vista was installed in the weeks since the restoration and the Vista is underway.

If I try to print from my own user log on, I get a Dell 948 communication error message advising me to unplug the usb connection or the power cord and restart.  None of this helps.  A copy of this error message can be seen here:

  • Edge 14 "questions making factory restore from Windows 8 consumer overview

My edge initially provided with Windows 7, and I created a USB drive recovery using the tool supplied with the laptop. Last year, I put Windows 8 preview of consumers about it. Now, Windows 8 license has expired and I don't want to upgrade to the professional version. So I tried to do a factory restore. I tried:

    1. start > enter > I can't see F11 here, there're only ESC, F1 and F12 to choose.

    2. plug USB Recovery > start > enter > F12 > I see my USB in the list > select and enter > system continue to start with Win 8.

    3. Similarly, choose F1 to enter BIOS, put my USB on the top of the boot order list > save and restart with connected USB > system continue to start with Win 8.

    The content of my usb looks like: usb.tag / winRE.wim / Boot folder (283.9 M in total). It's called imation, 1 G.

I wonder what I can try to take the step of recovery plant. Any help will be great!

I solved this problem by creating the boot on CD instead. Then start successfully from the CD instead of USB.

the only problem is that I got an error "you can have only one copy of the Microsoft Windows operating system." The product Recovery Media Creator will leave now. "because I previously created the recovery on a USB key. Follow this post to continue:

  • Help! Aspire 5735 laptop with broken screen does not recognize external monitor after the factory restore

I have an ACER Aspire 5735, running horrible Vista that never worked from the beginning, always locked up, media player never worked, on, on, and after about a year my dog took in the power cord and threw out of the table and the broken screen. I used it with an external monitor for a while, but it was even worse after that and after that he take to get fixed yet has proceeded to run super slow, always locked up, refused to stop or start upward normally, and so he sat in a closet for about 3 years.

I took it out a week ago to see if I could at least use it for my kids to friends to play on, but that she still had so many questions, I decided to do a factory restore. And of course the recovery disks that I did when I got it do not work and are not yet recognized by the computer. So I went online and has used a method that I found there by rebooting and hitting the keys ALT F10 until I was at the factory reset option. It worked GREAT! Except once the computer has restarted and opened up to windows deleted monitor and I can't do anything with the computer because apparently it does not recognize that it is hooked to an external monitor on the restore to factory settings! Help!

She does not recognize the monitor as it has been restarted and was even the windows start the display of the icon, but as soon as it loads the screen becomes black with just the graphics "monitor is on but not connected to what either" floating around.

Is it possible to access something in the BACK or other so he could recognize the external monitor?  What is finally toast?

Connect the external monitor to the laptop.

Hold down the FN key and press the F4 key. Check if you get a display on the external monitor.

    Hello Pushedincorners,

Thank you for your message.  Unfortunately, you will need to contact your system manufacturer for instructions to correctly restore your computer to the factory settings.  This process is different from system to system manufacturer manufacturer and each has their own way of doing things.

  • Restore settings / lost all emails

I recently bought a new iPhone 6. My old iPhone 5 is perfectly fine, so I decided that I would give it to my son. I'm mainly the iphone 6 because I got the free update and he wanted additional storage (former did 16gig, a new to 32).  The old pick up still Wifi, so as soon as I turned it on a whole bunch of my emails came pour... and there also all my music and pictures etc on this subject. I wanted to have a clean slate, so that it is actually HER phone, instead of feeling like you're borrowing the phone of your dad, so I clicked on "restore settings" on the old iPhone.  My idea was that I would rub the old phone of all my music, photos, emails, whatsapp and facebook messenger messages etc.  I had planned on setting up as a new iPhone.  What I didn't count was that he would have ALL my scrub emails entirely, on all my other devices!  ***?? I went from 10,000 emails to 0 on my iMac computer, as well as on my new iPhone 6. Disaster!  Somehow, I was able to find 700 - odd messages in the trash folder and was able to bring the messages dating back to November 2015, which is great, but all the messages that I have that date back to 2005 are all gone.  Now, you might think ' well, what do you want to? ", but some of them are important emails that I sometimes referred to, some of them are important from a point of view of historical database (being able to refer to what someone said or did 8 or 9 years ago), some of it is the proof/evidence and also it is a bit of nostalgia involved (such as the emails from people who are no longer about discussions 10 years ago which may have sentimental value).  It's obviously not life or death, but it just strikes me as very strange that you can so easily (and unintentionally) lose 10,000 stored emails!

Is it possible to undo that, or retrieve my emails? None of these emails would be in some deep hidden cache or somewhere on the computer (in the Finder?)

I see no reason for whatever why reset settings would remove the emails. I have reset the settings several times on a couple of devices and nothing lost at all except for the settings on each device. However, you use the terminology restore settings, and there is no such thing on the phone. Maybe erase you content and settings. If that were the case it should still not delete emails on other devices. Which simply clears the device itself.

If your e-mail account is IMAP, whatever you do on a device is to reflect on all devices. In other words if you delete an email on one device, it is removed from everywhere. If you account is POP, it should only affect the decision that you are currently using. I have a POP account and I can delete an email on the phone and it will always be on my Mac.

Lengthy explanation, but my question is did you somehow delete emails by mistake? They should not have disappeared from your Mac if simply delete you the phone.

You can take a look at this as well.

  • Satellite A660 Factory Restore problems

I have a Satellite A660 Ref. PSAW3A-14V062 delivered pre-installed with Win 7 not provided, but a hidden partition with disk recovery files.

Decided to do a restore to factory from scratch but ends of disk errors. Removed the HD and connected to another computer.

Using Acronis Disk Director, I copied the hidden partition (HDDRECOVERY) to another drive and then formatted the drive and copied the partition hidden in it and reinstalled to the laptop.
Downloaded an ISO image and tried to install it from DVD but received the message that windows cannot be installed on the HARD disk that the drive is about to fail.

Bought new HARD drive and copied the partition hidden for her.
I then tried to install from the DVD, but kept getting errors about unable to find files, after ISO more several downloads and burn 5 different DVD the furthest I got was the screen where it is "files", this remains at 0% and nothing else.

I then tried a factory restore using the "hold 0 during startup", but when I took out the key pressed 0 when the Toshiba start screen showed that nothing happened.

There was a small Partition 'System' on the original HARD drive I have has not copied. I have a few questions.

    (1) the "System" partition did not the files needed to start the factory restore and if so is there anywhere I can download these files?

    (2) probably a topic for another thread, but no clue as to why I have so many problems with ISO files.

Cheers and sorry for the long-winded explanation.

The installation of any recovery is quite complicated. It is designed to avoid a kind of manipulation so original recovery image can be installed either using recovery DVDs or HARD disk recovery facility which must be created with Toshiba recovery disc creator tool.

To be honest, the whole story is complicated enough, but what confuses me, is
    > Decided to do a restore to factory from scratch but ends of disk errors
If I understand you right, you have created a drive recovery, right? What exactly happens?
You can use this drive with new HARD drive?

This method with files recovery to cope with the new HARD drive does not work. You will not be able to access and begin HARD recovery disk image installation.

If you have a new HDD only how to install the original Toshiba recovery image is to use the recovery DVD disc.

  • Can I update the image of factory restore?

    Hi all

I recently had the pleasure to make a 'factory restore' on a M100 and an A300.

While the process went smoothly (even if the A300 recovery disk creator should not be put back first to make it work), data that has been restored were, of course, obsolete because he didn't understand not updates either the operating system (Vista Home Basic) or to one of the Toshiba Software (including drivers and tools utility).

I know that you can return the system to Toshiba for a new image of the HARD drive by them (at great cost), but I don't know if that provides a picture of 'update' or if she simply replaces the original image (obsolete).

Is it possible the 'factory restore' image stored on the recovery partition can be updated and a user, or a technician of the 'non-Toshiba"without having recourse to external software such as Acronis?

Thanks in advance for all advice offered.

    Hey Buddy,

No, you can update the image of factory restore t. Settings (Windows, driver, etc.) are stored in an image that can t be changed or updated because these settings are pre-tested on your laptop computer and any change would be not compatible. In addition, I think that Windows updates are made with two or three clicks, you need just to a good internet connection. Alternative, you install Microsoft's latest Service Pack which contains many important updates ;)

By the way: I made my own image using Acronis image. After the installation of recovery disk Toshiba I removed all applications that I n t need (ConfigFree for example), installed the Windows updates and my other apps that I need (Skype, Office, etc.). After that, I tested the laptop a bit and finally and especially that I created an image with Acronis. So I can restore my own settings every time too. ;)

  • How to reset to factory default settings, as if it was brand new?

I have a laptop Toshiba L300. I want to reset the laptop to factory default settings.

The reason is that whenever I use the browser firefox internet and explore when I do a search using the search engine, and when all the search results are listed and I click on a particular site, it takes me to a page at random. Once in a while, it may take me to the page I'm supposed to be after clicking on the site, but most of the time it takes to a crazy page irrelevant.

So I downloaded another web browser (google chrome) and there is no problem at all. I hope that if I restore the default settings, the problem can be solved.
    Can anyone help?

    Hey,.

Yes, I think reset factory settings would be best choice for this issue. You can use the recovery disk or recovery disk Toshiba feature.

    Where is the difference?

-The procedure of recovery of HARD drive, you need to start using the advanced boot menu (F8) and repair my computer option. Follow the instructions on the screen and Windows will be resettled in the files on the HARD drive second. Only the first partition will be erased

-The Toshiba recovery disc erase your entire HARD drive. This means that you should back up files on the second partition as well. In addition you must boot from that disk.

    Good luck! :)

  • Lenovo G50 factory reset - 80 questions

I have a laptop G50-80, which has been upgraded to Win10 quite earlier. Recently he started having trouble with hardware and software that worked no longer works. I decided to use the reset option factory to return the system to Win8.1.

Before doing so I downloaded the more critical of my files from the user to a Cloud Computing service and created a recovery image of windows on a SSD connecterd external via USB. I also created a system restore CD.

Once I felt, it was safe, I pushed the button and started the factory reset. It has worked flawlessly, the system came in Win8.1. However, the files that I had uploaded to the cloud is not fully spread, and I needed to restore the image of Win10 to get back them.

After several attempts to get the Win10 upgraded to work, I finally got to Win10 boot and restore the image of the SSD system. I found the files and was more securely save for later access. Now, I had to perform a factory reset more to return the system to Win8.1. But operations to do so led to restart the system for the installation of Win8.1. He was not able to start the factory reset.

Some reading on the internet indicates that if the HD partitions are written in software other than the Lenovo OneKey tools that any attempt to use the partitions of the factory to do a reset would fail with the symptoms that I saw.

Using the Win10 disk management tool, I see that there are 6 partitions on my hard drive. They are called "Recovery Partition", "EFI System Partition", "OEM Partition", "C:", "D:", and "recovery Partition". I don't see anything on the first 3 or last one of them. It doesn't seem to be a file system to set up, so I don't know if the data has been preserved.

Is there something I can do to recover the factory software reset so I can restore this system to Win8.1?

You may need more information to help. I'll be happy to provide all that you think you have need. Let me know.

    Vince

I found an answer that seems to work for me. I am currently at 12%, restore the factory settings. Check out the instructions here:

    https://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/Lenovo-beacon-stick-300-D-J-and/Windows-8-recovery-partition-not-recogn...

After the execution of these instructions, the novo button does not. From the Lenovo OneKey app doesn't. I had to reboot to factory settings using the windows restore utilities. Before running these instructions, the third partition of the provided factory restore option was not available. This time it was and the restoration continues.

If I don't come back and say otherwise, assume the success!

  • 1211 error when you try to perform the factory restore.

    Original title: I need to.

My computer is running very slowly, I want to go back to its factory settings so I would have as its new brand, but when I go to install it I get an error 1211 or something like that. I need help with this. C:\$win_nt$.~LS\I386\system32\ntdll.dll.

The factory restore process is created and supported by the manufacturer of the computer, not Microsoft.  So you should check with the manufacturer of your computer to know what mean error codes and how to solve them.
