Failed to update causing memory question

Hello

I have a MacBook Ari (2104) model, with 128 GB SSD drive, 4 GB of RAM.

I have the required minimum software naked installed on my Mac, but I have about 7.5 GB of space on my SSD. It is not allowing me to update my OS or Xcode. There is no work around for this problem?

Thank you in advance.

S.

Download the Internet OmniDiskSweeper and Grand Perspective (both free) and open them. They will show all your files and respective sizes. This should allow you to determine which files to remove or disable charge it to an external HARD drive.

Don't forget to empty the trash. Then only the space is allocated for the new data.

Ciao.

  • put db failed for "cannot allocate memory".

    Hi exports BDB.

    I met a problem that put the db failed for "cannot allocate memory". From cmd shell "ps", consumption of memory app was not high, it seemed that just BDB can not allocate memory. Here are my questions:

    (1) if use get db or slider with DBT indicator 0, where BDB will allocate memory? (DB cache?)

    (2) I put in cache 16 MB by db_env-> set_cachesize, there are about 10 databases in the environment, it means all the cache 16 MB part 10 db or each has 16 MB cache?

    (3) if there is no memory leak in the app, what would be the possible reasons for "cannot allocate memory"? How I debug this?

    (4) a database in the application has about 100 k records each about 500 bytes data, this database must be walked several times by the cursor. If use DBT indicator 0, will free the memory allocated by the cursor immediately after the cursor close? How much memory would be allocated during the crossing of the database?

    (5) cache is multi-threaded safe? If one thread changes the memory allocated by the BDB using cusror get with DBT indicator 0, other threads bed dirty data possibly?

    BRS,

    Min

    Hi Min,

    The error "Cannot allocate memory" can be caused by using a lot of resources, whereas you allocate spaces for them in advance, resources include locks, mutexes, etc.

    (1) the memory will be allocated heap if you have not defined a function alloc.

    (2) all databases in an environment share the same cache (16 m here).

    (3) as mentioned, the error can be switch to the allocation of lock, mutex, and other resources. You need get the exact location where the error occurs.

    (4) I think that you asked the question on the DBT indicator 0. The memory will be allocated from the default heap and be linked to the cursor. It's transitional, which means that it can be overwritten by the next HBD-> get and released until the cursor closes. More information can be found here:

    https://forums.Oracle.com/thread/2560134

    The simple description of the program, the error seems to be caused by not enough definition of locks and lock objects. Page latch is usually used by Berkeley DB, and if you enable the locking subsystem, by default each page will be locked until the cursor closes. If your database has a lot of pages, then several locks and lock objects are needed, so set the number before opening environment, since the number (1000) default may not be sufficient in this case.

    To avoid setting so many locks and locking of objects, you can try the DB-> set_lk_exclusive, because it hangs on the database instead of pages.

    Another way is to restructure your program to divide operations both in number of sliders/transactions and begin the next curor/transaction after previous finishes. And if you use only the sliders to make so many read operations, you can also evaluate a level of isolation as DB_READ_COMMITTED instead of the default level, and it can avoid divide.

    This thread can help you on this:

    https://forums.Oracle.com/thread/2557981

    5 data from HBDS-> get flagged 0 failed with the cache. Cache is thread-safe to provide write atomicity. If you care about the consistency of your program in environment multi-threads, you must turn on locking and transaction subsystems.

    Kind regards

  • Windows Update Causes startup problem

    I have an interesting problem with Windows Update (or apparently is from Windows Update). I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, if that info is needed. There are two updates I have not install, as I am not sure that is the cause. The updates in question are Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Defender definitions 1.63.604.0. Here's what's happening.

    When you restart after Windows updates, the computer starts with a black screen with a mouse pointer. That's all. Happened every time I tried to start after the pdates. I can reboot into SafeMode very well, is apparently a problem driver or update.

    I also installed DivX on the computer, but it seemed to work as I could watch .avi via WMP thereafter, so I excluded. I thought that if there was a problem with it, it would not have worked in the first place, but I thought it was interesting.

    In any case, the only solution I found doing a system restore and do not install updates day or DivX, since technically I don't know which is the cause. I had to restore the system 3 times already and I didn't continue to do because this computer was very expensive and I don't want to ruin the hardware or something.

    Someone knows something about an error with updates, or perhaps with DivX that may have caused this. The computer works fine without the updates or DivX, I just want to know what could be the real problem so if it is only one of the 3, I can install the other two at least.

    Change your update settings, install the updates one at a time, hide the problem:

    Click Start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
    When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the update causing you problems.
    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
    See you soon.
  • I get this KB2481109 update and it still fails to update it's a virus
    I get this KB2481109 update and it still fails to update it is a virus and how iI to get rid of this?
    Hi Judy,.
    1. do you get an error code?
    2. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?
    Since this is a security update, there is a chance of infection from malicious software on the computer. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.
    Method 1:
    You can reset Windows Update components and check.
    Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    Method 2: Virus Scan
    Run a scan antivirus on your computer.
    Note: If infections are detected during the scan, there is a risk of data loss because infected files will be deleted.
  • Vista updates causing interference day and PC crashing.
    Greetings,
    I have a tiny little problem. It seems that the new updates for Windows Vista has been causing some intolerable freeze and crash my PC. I don't understand quite updates are causing it. How ever I can officially say that BEFORE I updated my machine it worked almost perfect (except for the graphics). I won't be pesmistic, it really worries me. On top of her crashing and freezing. I also noticed a sufficient amount of gain and loss data. I.E. I have several backups of games on pc before I played. but when I'm done with extracting files and remove approximately "20" of them only '13' will do for the recycling bin, so my (OS - operating system) * HDD partition * wins extra/hidden files. I also noticed that my PC has not been suggested to download SP2 from the Auto Update Center. I had to recover this file manually on the microsoft site. Please explain this problem and please not to recommend a re-installation of the operating system... I have already this is plenty of time to do it either.
    Side of a person responding to this hopeful message. because I have problems with my pc could you please send me a response @ (* address email is removed from the privacy *) thank you.  "ACEs".
  • 82566MM security update causes problem
    I use a network with fixed ip addresses setting and a 300 tinkpad X.
    After installing Intel 82566 MM Gigabit Network Connection update via Windows Update on every reboot
    the default gateway is removed. I can enter it manually in the network settings, but this isn't the way it should work.
    Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Concerning
    Johann
    I'm terribly sorry. Not the NIC driver update caused the problem. The problem came with Vista Service Pack 2.
    I found the following solution and it works now fine again:
    1. open the registry, regedit.exe
    2. go into the path: HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Tcpip/parameters/Interfaces.
    3. here you must select the CLSID of your network card when you change the settings. You'll probably recognize it watching the IPAddress value which will have IP address for this adapter.
    4. open the value 'Passerelle_par_defaut' of doubleclicking it. You will see a list of all the bridges that disappeared! (maybe in your case it will be single, in my case it was because of the many test multiple addresses) Most likely, the first line will be empty. I don't know how this little flaw can be a big problem. However, if you manually delete the first empty line, click OK and restart your system, everything should be working again fine.
  • Virus or update causing no response to keystrokes
    I have just got rid of the Conficker worm and advice said, it's important to keep up with Microsoft Updates.  I guess I had disabled updates updated long ago many things at the same time.  When I came back to the machine, he said updates complete, restart the computer.  On restart I got two blocks of messages "the 654 ordinal not found in the dynamic link library iertutil.dll" - and -"Error loading C:\WINDOW\system 32\iedkcs32.dll the operating system cannot run %1."  I clicked OK on each one and they went and computer seemed to work fine until I tried to sign in my email.  I have no response to the strikes and could not sign.  My mouse has seemed to work move me and I could type in the address bar and in the start menu, run the section for the keyboard works.  So, it is a virus thing or updates caused this?   I have not the slightest idea where to look.  I use another computer to create this message.
    I was running from IE7.  When I upgraded to IE8 the problem disappeared.
    Hi Randy Gauthier Leclerc,.
    Could you give us the exact error message you get started?
    Are you able to boot to the desktop?
    Were you running any system restore after installing these updates?
    If you are able to boot to the desktop, we can edition all updates then install them one by one and check what update causes the update. We can avoid the update conflict by doing this.
    It is a possibility that one of the updates is at the origin of the conflict. I advise you to uninstall all updates and check. You can install these updates one by one, then check update is conflicted and you can avoid this particular update.
    You have installed for a list of the latest updates, follow the steps below:
    1. click on start and in the search bar type Windows Update and press ENTER.
    2. click on "View Update History".
    3. now click on installed updates.
    4. right click on the update you want to uninstall, and then press Ok.
