Failure of backup due lack of space

Running Norton 360 and every time it comes to backup, that he can not due to the lack of space. Can I delete some of the data on my HP SimpleSave backup? If so how to do that?

I found the problem late last night. The system was back up on my G drive rather SimpleSave drive H so, naturally, there is a lack of space!

Problem fixed but thanks a lot for the quick response from you.

  • Time Capsule backups fail 'lack of space'

I have two 3 TB time Capsules airport here at home network with an iMac and MacBook Pro 2.  All computers are up-to-date with the latest version of the software for Mac OS x (10.11.5) and the two time Capsules have been updated with the latest firmware yesterday (May 30, 2016).  I get the same error message that does not respect the backup, or for both, readers of time capsule due to lack of space.

How is that possible?  I thought that TC permanently erased the last backup to make room for the next backup... aren't these differential backups?  Are a number of safeguards supposed to be kept?  Or over a certain period of time?

Is the solution here to add a few more disk space for the time capsule airport with USB drives?

    Thanks for your help.

    John

Time Machine usually works very well to delete backups of older (and small) "extra" type on the Time Capsule, but if the disk is full, and all of a sudden you add lots of new data to your Mac as an update of the operating system, or enlarge them or video files... which adds a lot of new data to your computer... and then the Time Machine can not delete older files to make room the new, much larger that new normal backup which would be necessary.

When this happens, you have 3 Basic, in order of most expensive options on the bottom:

    • Add another new Time Capsule and start backups to go
    • Add a USB to a Time Capsule and start to go back up
    • Clear the Time Capsule disk and start over again with the backups with the drawback that you will lose your history backups

In fact, there is a fourth option... that I do not recommend... and it is to go back into your files to backup using the Finder and delete older backups manually.  The drawback here is that it is a long and tedious process, and there is a very real danger that the entire file backup for Mac may be corrupt, make the file useless.

  • Backup failed: lack of space on recovery drive D

I want to remove old programs from the programs and features for backups will not fail. The problem is that I don't want to remove a program, I need. I looked at the size but some of the programs do not have the size, some do not have the 'last used date', some have not either information on the programme. What does that mean? How am I suppose to know which are ok to uninstall?

(The recovery disk D is exactly that, you are not intended to access except one) you are recovering your system to factory specifications or b) you go to burn the recovery cd set. How take you is a feature provided by the manufacturer of your PC, this is not a feature of Ms.

For example, choose another location for your backup disk, external

The Add/Remove dialoge cannot be invoked for info, other than whats installed

PS If you do not have the recovery disks, do it NOW

    Hello, manoj0910.

    Please visit Apple support communities.

Looks like you can't synchronize the pictures located on your external drive.  I need a little more information about your configuration to provide a better answer.  However, we will try to sync your photos through the section of the file through the article below.  You just need to direct iTunes to where your photos are stored on your external drive.

If your photos are in a folder

    1. Select "Choose a folder" from the context menu.
    2. Choose the folder where you store your photos.
    3. Click on apply.

You can arrange photos in subfolders to create photo albums.

Sync photos from your computer to your device iOS through iTunes

  • iCloud backups / file management / free space

I have trouble managing the use of space in my icloud account.

I find it very intuitive and difficult to understand exactly what I am to be invited to do everything by managing the settings.

In other words, I find some options very unclear.

Signature in icloud on my mac through chrome browser, I am told that I use 4.4/5 GB.

It is stated that most of this is my iPad.

I suspect that most are backups of my real-world applications.

There is nothing else I backup via iCloud.

and I don't even save most of the data in applications.

I usually back up on my mac and remove the actual data of the apps to save space on my pad.

I tried to remove some of the saved app data

but it has released only a few KB.

When, on the ipad, I go to:

    Settings-> iCloud-> storage management

and goes off a few backup app, as I said, not useful space is released.

All this used a space could be due to many throughout the system to the top of the iPad.

But there seems to be no option to remove individual backups, only to stop iPad backup completely and remove the content FULL of all my backups [or, for "extra space"-"ideally"):]

In addition, it seems impossible to manage this through iCloud.com on my browser on mac OS x.

It seems that I have to use my iPad, which is also unnecessary in this case.

I prefer to manage it via my computer, using the keyboard and mouse and a respectable real file management interface; rather than some indigestible, imprecise, difficult to navigate, near-useless, icon-business, as it is.

If anyone can help diagnose me exactly how much space is used,

and how I can release disk space without having to stop my system backup and removing all existing backups together in order to have space [which seems completely redundant and the purpose of defeating]

.... I'd highly appreciate such opinions.

As a note on the side of criticism; I really find the iOS any system file management, with its 'fun icon' interface approach, but almost zero - control and utility in terms of management of files, to be very tedious / frustrating / tedious.

Why not give me a "finder" style access to file systems; so I can see clearly what is in place, I can remove, etc.

Sorry if this is State the obvious; but; in all there are no such problems with android and google reader.

iOS has been closed like that since the first day. If you want or need a file system, you will need to use an Android device. Your comment has no value here. Apple does not take its direction from remarks made here.

You can send your comments to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

iCloud.com is not designed to handle files, only the content.

From your iPad itself, go to settings > general > storage & use iCloud > iCloud > Storage manage and look in the section of backups . You should see backups that you created and its size, on iCloud for your iPad. Tap on your iPad and there is an option to delete the backup here.

Your applications are not in your backup. They are stored on the App store, where they can be downloaded again if necessary. Toggling off the coast of the backup of the data of the App has questionable value because it is only of data an application creates, not the application itself. If you share an Apple ID with anyone or any other device, their content goes to iCloud as well. 5GB allowance is per Apple ID, not per device.

  • OneKey onekey lack of space, how to resize?

    Hello

Already, I read several post, but does with a solution.

Just get a Lenovo G50 - 70A with windows 8.1. First thing to do was to make all updates (more than 1, 3 GB). After that I got all the updates, decide to make a make a backup with Onekey, so that I could restore with the new updates, in case of problems.

The laptop has 2 drivers (visible), "c:\". "with windows 8 and"d:\ ". "with Lenovo Onekey.

When I tried, the Onekey, he says that I need 29, 50 GB for backup and only 22, 50 GB (to a 25 GB disc).

    1. How do I resize the disk with OneKey, for to have my backup and have still Onekey working (for what I read, if the player OneKey is resize, OneKey will not work!) I can't believe it's true, do not in any sense.

    2. can I I resize my driver with the SB, without affecting the OneKey? I usually 1 disc with so and another disc with my personal data. Is I need to collect, format, the SO, I won't lose my data.

Thanks for the help and we hope this topic helps others too.

    Hello

My problem is solved. And I'm going to say what I did, and what was the result.

My laptop is the G50-70 has

    OneKey Version 8.0.0.2105

The windows show only 2 drivers for the SO and Lenovo D: backup C:. However there are other partition but are hidden from Society.

After all the updates of windows, I begin the OneKey to perform a new backup. The drive for backup D: have a space of 25 GB, when I tried to make the backup here, it says that I don't have enough space (see my message of previews). So I made a backup to an external driver. When the backup finishes, the backup folder have only about 16 GB! So to copy the folder to the backup driver (D.)

For security reasons, I also did a recovery USB disk as indicated by Solid_Cruver

Here is the tutorial how to make a recovery USB disk

After that, I shrink the driver for 375 GB C: and creat a new driver F: with the new space.

Then start Lenovo and select the recovery option. The letters for the spectacle of drivers are a little different, D: E: drive. (not due to make it smaller and pilots, but system restore see differently). I selected the folder I copied on the D: drive (on the recovery system is E with my new backup.)

The ER was back without any problem.

I did this twice! And it worked.

Note: I have never start OneKey before I made any changes.

So, after all this, I have:

-My backup on Lenovo driver for backups

-A USB key with a recovery system (not tested)

-A new driver for my personal data

    -The driver of SO shrink

    I hope it helps someone.

How can I remove the back ups old and where can I find them?

    Hi Avinashmehrotra,

Try to upgrade Windows to Windows 10 8.1 upgrade fails due to insufficient space in the recovery on the D: drive Partition

The size of the recovery Partition is configured at installation of the HP factory and it leaves only about 3 GB, which is insufficient for the upgrade of Windows 10 start the upgrade begins by creating files in the recovery Partition.

I don't want to remove the Windows 8.1 recovery files that already exist on the D: Partition of Recovery of the construction of the plant and in fact, I don't think that the o/s will allow me to delete these files from recovery.

Hello! I have CS5.5 Production Premium installed and now downloaded and installed CS6 PP Upg. Problem is the lack of space on the disk. What I can uninstall 5.5 or the Upg 6 should it work? I can move the 6 if necessary.

Upgrades need not have the old version installed in order to work properly.  You can remove the old version if you wish.

  • Can RMAN backup in 2 places due to the lack of space?

    Oracle 11.2.0.4 on RHEL 6.4

We have a DB production with RMAN backup (L0) enlarged with compression of 400 GB. We usually tape backup. But, today, I need to save this DB for the local file system.

I don't have a single file with 400 GB of free space system. But, I

    /ora_backup with 300 GB freespace

    and

    /U04 with 150 GB freespace

Is it possible to load RMAN instead of 300 GB of backup in the directory/ora_backup/rman pieces and the remaining items of backup to the directory/u04/rman ?

    Hello

You can use a running script rman with two channels and write each channel on a different disk location, but be sure to choose the number of data file (size of the data file).

    RMAN > run

    {

    ALLOCATE CHANNEL c1 DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT ' / ora_backup/%U';

    ALLOCATE CHANNEL c2 DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT ' / u04/%U';

    BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL = 0

    (CHANNEL DATAFILE 1,2,3,4 c1)

    (DATAFILE 5,6,7 CHANNEL c2);

    }

    In this example:

    I choose to backup datafile 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the /ora_backup directory, I choose to backup datafile 5, 6 and 7 on the /u04 directory.

  • Backup on USB fails for lack of space; but it's a blank disk and there is no files on it!

I have improved my NV + v1 (4.1.14) with 4 x 2 TB drives and I met the 4 k block size problem. So I'll try my backup device so that I can factory reset it.

The current size of the volume is 1.3 to, so I took on one of the 2 TB drives to use as a backup via USB. 1.3 TB should fit easily in 2 TB, right?

I added the 2 TB drive to the front USB port and formatted in ext3, it shows very well in stocks and a space free expected.

So I made a backup and the source = task share / dest = USB/Sharename/and he ran.

It works for a few minutes and stops with this error:

Encountered error copying data from the source ==> /USB_HDD_4_1 path / / bla due to lack of disk space. [Job 003]

I look at the USB and it is FULL. Zero byte available. He made a few records, but they are all empty.

    What is going on?

Are there hidden files (.appledouble, etc.)? I ran BlueHarvest on the volume before the backup, and he deleted a bunch of them. But not 2 value of TB.

I use this volume mainly with my Mac... am I missing?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you

OK, I got the multiple partition problem.

When partitioning a disk with Mac disk utility, it creates a partition from FAT32 MASK called EFI which is used for Intel to start. The EFI partition is confusing RAIDiator and leading them to try to use the small EFI partition instead of the large main.

Since I am not start this drive (it's only for backup), it is safe to remove it. You must enable a debug option to see the partition in disk utility. Google search for "EFI Partition delete on mac" to see how to do it.

Also, I used EXTfs for mac by Paragon Software that allows you to create and mount ext3 on your mac partitions. http://www.Paragon-drivers.com/ExtFS-Mac/

Backup operation runs now... If all goes well, it ends with success!

  • Local storage - lack of space for the backup snapshot?

    Hi all

My apologies if this is an obvious question, but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a question I have about our ESXi server.

We run ESXi on a Dell PowerEdge 1950 III with 16 GB Ram and 200 GB RAID 5 15 K RPM SAS for local storage - we do not have a requirement for a SAN, etc. and I understand how 'best practice' implementation of ESXi and that local storage is not recommended.

    Our question is:

We are running very low on the amount of local storage on the server and we use a Perl script every night to create a snapshot of a VM only we want to save that copies the original VM on a separate NAS device files. Apart from slow performance, this configuration works well for us. However, during the backup of the file snapshot obviously grew up with changes that are made and once the backup is complete he writes these returns to the original vmdk file (or so I think). Can anyone tell what would happen if we managed to create a snapshot at the beginning of the backup, but the server ran out of space before the backup finishes and commit the change snapshot... it would seriously damage our original server vmdk?

If you would like more information on our installation program please let me know but I would like some advice before embark us on this... Thanks in advance.

    Stuart Little

If the volume is running out of space, even if you have an active member of snapshot on a virtual computer it stops running (the VM will crash) and you will not be able to commit the snapshot (free space is needed for this). Always avoid the chance of a filling volume, especially if you are using snapshots, while you probably won't lose data if you handle it properly (move the virtual machine to a volume with storage or free space before attempting to commit the snap) you will have at least virtual machine downtime.

Had problems with internet explore starting and thought re install vista qould fix, but instead of the oldest copy it for a second and filled all the space in d car so impossible to restore or remove.   In disk management, I can't expand the partition and shrink when the C drive it does nothing for the D drive.

    Suggestions?

You can save all of the updates in the Windows directory (... $NTUninstall directories) and then delete them to free up space and you can also save the Windows\inf directory, then delete it.  Also start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup should help.

  • Bookmarks are missing from the list tab so much my favorite and I do not know if this was caused by the plugin or due to lack of space in my internal HD. Help, please?

Dear community, I promise that I will try to be as concise as possible. I am really desperate for help! I read absolutely everything about missing bookmarks, but as you can see my problem also concerns the sliders and Google are different on the screen.

It all started that day that I was running short on storage in my boarding school HD all of a sudden my computer showed that I had 0 KB available, and I just deleted some big mov files and restarted the computer. After the reboot, I opened FF and noticed that my favorites were missing and so has my reading list - my reading list is stored using the ReadItLater plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/read-it-later/). I tried to google solutions for my problem and realized that something was strange the way the results have been posted.

So, I made some screenshots because it's really hard to explain what happens in writing, so please take a look:

    1. when I first open my FF, if I click on ReadItLater, I get this error message (code 0 x 80570016): [[click here | http://www.flickr.com/photos/81007892@N07/7423869970/]]

    2. then if I click any link on the page and go back to check my ReadItLater list, I can open it without receiving an error message, but always WITHOUT READING LIST is displayed. Image: [[click here | http://flic.kr/p/cj2gPm]]

    3. now take a look at how Google is the display of the results on FF! The text appears in black/green when it is really supposed to be displayed in blue/green/black! The cursor is also messed up: when I try to click on one of the links with the arrow, it turns into a cursor type instead of the usual hand or by clicking on the slider! Please see the image: [[click here | http://www.flickr.com/photos/81007892@N07/7423869468/]]

    4. here is a screenshot of the same search Google but this time made the Safari. Compare it with the previous image: [[click here | http://www.flickr.com/photos/81007892@N07/7423869252/]]

Any help will be much appreciated. I tried to reinstall FF again once already and I also deleted and reinstalled FF but I never deleted personal profile which is located in the library folder information. In addition, tried to back up and replace the profile folder but my computer does not allow me. I received a message saying that it was not possible to copy the file places.sqlite - wal. I did a search on this subject and I can say that I never had a double profile. Help, please? I'm desperate and I can't lose my playlist of my favorites!

    Thank you, community of Firefox!

    Hello

    Please see this.

  • Pavilion 6610f desktop: HP Envy & WARNING: drive hard Imminent failure (please backup and replace immediately!)

Recently, I had 2 different cats with HP Tech Reps in which they used their remote control programs to check on the problems that I had with my new HP Envy 5560 all-in-one.  The next day, at the start of my desktop PC, I got the warning message: "" imminent hard drive failure: if it please take a full backup and replace immediately. "" I did a scan from HP and it showed nothing wrong. There are no pop icons - up or whatever it is on my desktop screen to indicate a problem.  The hard Seagate I have is only 1 years and 89% free space left on it and there is no problem, other than being slow sometimes, before the cats remote and the PC warning.  I came to the forum looking for answers, and the first thing I noticed was a post to say today 09/04/2015 Bent Canuck: "HP Envy Hard Drive Failure" at 06:22. What a coincidence. Think are?  Only some 20 hours from the time I myself first 'hard drive Imminent failure warning' and only about 40 hours after the remote programs have been downloaded (twice) and the rep tech, taking control of my computer (twice).

I ran all the diagnostics that my intermediate PC experience tells me to do.  I checked in the BIOS and I checked all the HP, troubleshooting, etc. on the Assistant HP program performance. I can find no reason for the hard drive to be failing.  I didn't notice it do anything else to be a little slow to start sometimes and slow to load stuff onto the internet, I have assumed it was probably malware and spyware that I must find a way to remove at one point, but I have received no warning about things either.  I get the same caveat and I did a full back, but...

Can someone tell me what to do or how to check and see what the problem is until I have to just chuck the drive because of this warning?

Thank you for the additional information.

Did you run the BIOS CHIP to test your hard drive?  Also, I don't think that the added hard disk HP software had nothing to do with the message you receive.
