Failure of HP Mediasmart DVD

I placed a blu - ray disc in a Monday. I went to watch today and could not load so I tried to play regular DVD received the same message saying 'no disk in drive '. This happened with regular DVD and Blu - ray, any help would be great.

Edit: spelling FTW

Install this BIOS.

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-84198-1&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&OS=4063&product=4121358&sw_lang=

During the installation of the BIOS, the battery must be in place and the adapter connected and plugged in. Disconnect all devices (printer, dongles in the USB ports) USB, do not turn on any Bluetooth device that you use.

Download the BIOS on the desktop and run it from there. Do not install it in a temporary folder.

Leave your WiFi switch on and disconnect from the internet by disabling your modem.

When the BIOS starts to install it it will say that you are running. If it is the same as the one I gave to you (F.15) cancel the installation. Reinstall the BIOS isn't like regular software. Reinstall the same version has no effect.

If you run it, do not touch the laptop, not even the mouse mat. When it seems done, let stand for at least 2 minutes, I make 5. Go take a coffee or channel surfing. Start and do this then. (connect your modem again)

Download and run CCleaner.

http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

It allows you to uninstall your present Media Smart DVD and then run the registry cleaner and restart. Run the registry cleaner, if it finds more then restart. Repeat this procedure until it finds nothing. Do not use any other registry cleaner.

Install this version of Media Smart DVD.

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-83335-1&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&OS=4063&product=4121358&sw_lang=

Yet once, download the file on the desktop and install it from there, as with the BIOS_restart.

Go to the "Control Panel" and choose display the icon to find 'Auto Play'. Make sure that the media DVD Smart is chosen to read the DVD and Blu - ray.

Insert a Blu - ray player and let it load it automatically. I hope that your problem should be solved.

    Hey guys,.

I have a little problem with MediaSmart and I hope someone will know what to do...

Today, I bought the 'Back to the future' trilogy on blu - ray. When I tried to play it, asked MediaSmart update, I did. Without the update, the film would not start at all. After the update, I finally managed to enter the disc menus and went through the bonus material, but when I tried to play the main movie, MediaSmart crashed with error caused by the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library. Even tried to reinstall Microsoft Visual C++, but nothing has changed.

All of my other blu - ray movies work perfectly and I really have no idea what is wrong. Anyone here with similar problem?

Make a Windows restore point and go back before installing the time that I had the Media Smart DVD version that I gave you at least that this will get back you to square 1.

Before going on the 'C' drive and click on "Program Files x 86" > Hewlett-Packard > Media.» If there is still a folder there named "DVD" then there are remnants of left Media Smart DVD that should not be there. Right click and 'Remove' the DVD file and run registry cleaner CCleaner. Reboot and run the cleaner once and try again to install Media Smart.

  • HP Mediasmart DVD on a6750t will not display data channel 5.1 via SPDIF or HDMI

So, I got a desktop HP custom computer new Friday. Started playing with it on Saturday. I called Sunday morning to request an RMA number and return shipping label. Here's my saga:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Started HP problem calls to 03:47 February 15, 2009

Region (by spelling rep) said return is processed through warranty / customer). He said that HP does not publish a badge number. Ticket # xxxxxx3374.

    (Transferred to warranty/support service)

(The line was full of static-asked for the 800 for the reminder. No one said that he had not the number I called in the. EU log www.hp.com. Found the number to call is 1 (800) 474-6836. I called this number.)

Satya (by spelling rep) responded to the line. I told the rep that I don't get any output 5.1 for the Blu - ray disc software that was provided by HP (HP Mediasmart DVD). Informed him that all MS products, DVD and HD devices sent out to my Yamaha receiver 5.1 channel. [Are the important part of DVD. As the same drive is used for THE DVD and Blu - Ray, it is my opinion that the material works very well.] I repeated several times that the only thing to do not send 5.1 channels of data has been the player of HP MediaSmart DVD software for drives Blu - Ray.

Satya ran various tests and wanted to "call back tomorrow with a solution. He seemed to think that maybe there is a problem with the hardware, and eventually I wasn't getting something in my order.

I clearly started I wanted an RMA number and I wanted to return the product. Satya refused, saying that he had to 'search' the problem until it could issue the RMA number and return the product. He said he'd call between 14:00 and 17:00 tomorrow (STD) (I informed him he is currently 04:49 to my place.)

The problem is not with the hardware. All software Microsoft products that support 5.1 channel send through data 5.1 SPDIF (optical cable) channels. Once again, all the DVD and other 5.1 (HD PVR) devices send (via s/PDIF) 5.1 channels of data to my Yamaha receiver. The only thing not released in 5.1 is the software (HP Mediasmart DVD) Blu - ray disc player. DVD is ran using the player Blu - ray (on the system only) and sends the data of channel 5.1 without any problem.

Closed the problem HP call 04:52 February 15, 2009

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thus, any other suggestions? I tried different things such as Passthrough-HDMI, HDMI-PCM, SPDIF and output of 6 speakers on the application of reader software HP MediaSmart DVD Blu - ray without result.

I decided to try contacting chat support to see if they had ideas... After almost 2 hours of troubleshooting, a support chat, there is no current solution. I find myself with waiting on an another software update (I guess the previous update does not solve this problem and took 6 months to publish), or return the PC with installed defective software.

When support calls me I will request the RMA and return labels to be reactivated and ship back to HP PC.

I then go to BestBuy and buy a Blu - ray player.

Good luck if you are keen on your nice new Blu - ray player and enjoyable new disc from reading over 2 channels.

Unless you install a different drive (that YOU will have to pay), you're completely out of luck is HD audio (5.1, 6.1, 7.1 channels) via SPDIF or HDMI. I looked on all systems CTO and they ALL use the same software. Well. Mabey HP will be better in a few years.

I am posting this as a solution only as the solution to the problem was to ship the return to HP PC and get a refund. < sigh >

    Hello

    OK, try the following.

As you use HP MediaSmart DVD to play discs, follow these steps.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the latest installer for it on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp56501-57000/sp56904.exe

Once the download is complete, open windows control panel, open programs and features, make a right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - when this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, open your downloads folder and double-click Setup for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once done, see if your discs now plays OK.

  • MediaSmart DVD Setup on ProBook laptop error

I posted this earlier the main forums of HP. I got a response suggesting that redirect the issue in the case. I got this laptop at Newegg last Christmas when my other broken; I don't use the laptop for business, more education (college) and general use, including browsing the web and media (like watching movies). I'm not sure either why there are two separate forum sites for the same company, rather than an individual section for business customers in the general network (and why, as I just discovered, the company website has Smileys!), but that's. (Won't to sock a gift horse in the teeth.)

Anywho, I have problems to install the software HP Mediasmart DVD on my ProBook. I downloaded several "softpaqs" with DVD software and made the 'trick' to extract the installer with WinRAR or 7-zip and running setup.exe. Install starts OK but quit unexpectedly with an error: "this software can be installed in the authorized machine." But on the download page for each of the installers I have had HP Web site, it is no list of models "authorized."

I looked at the error message on some other discussions of HP, like this

.. .but have not been able to find a solution anywhere.

I tried to download the version of Windows 7 and even the older ones who were supposed to work for Vista. Other programs mediasmart work very well, I can't get the installation DVD. Is there a way to 'fool' or 'patch' the installer into believing that my laptop is "authorized", whatever that means? It makes no sense that I would not be able to use a HP DVD program because the computer does not have a hard drive (which, I believe, still plays Blue Ray). MediaSmart didn't come with the computer; I copied the SWSETUP folder from an older HP laptop computer to it and ran the installer. MediaSmart SmartMenu works, as do the MediaSmart Music video MediaSmart, MediaSmart Photo and MediaSmart TV & movies. Yet for some reason any MediaSmart DVD everything continues to be stubborn. What can I do to get this install?

Laptop is a product number 4540 s ProBook, 2CE33618W7, C9K70UT #ABA serial number (it's a zero, not letter "oh" as Oscar), running Windows 7 x 64 Professional SP1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD - no disc in drive

I'm not gifted in the forum, so I apologize if this is in the wrong place... I bought a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC a few months ago. I watched DVDs using the HP MediaSmart DVD player with no complications until about 2 weeks ago, when it just stopped recognizing discs in the drive (I have tried many, it is not the DVD). I'm still able to play DVDs through Windows Media Player, is not a problem with the driver (if I'm wrong, what I've read). I have been scrolling of pages not useful instructions or complicated about how people are trying to solve this problem, without success, that seems. While I'm usually pretty good at my way through problems using convenience stores etc. of detachment, this one has left sufficeintly mouth gaping. I hope I gave enough information, and that help is at hand! Thank you =)

    Hello

If you have recently installed a Comodo or that you have already installed, after the return.

If this isn't the case, I would like to uninstall using Revo Uninstaller on the link below.

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-freeware-version.php

After installation, run revo, right-click on mediasmart dvd and choose uninstall.  During the process, you will be asked to remove the registry entries, it just select all and click on delete. Do the same thing to the left on files and folders, when asked.  When you're done, restart your computer.

Download the latest version of the mediasmart dvd for your model of the HP Web site (you will need to enter your exact model, for example, dv6-2112ea, chose the software and downloads, select your operating system, then go to the media section) and run the installer.

Let me know if you have any problems.

    Best wishes

    Hello

You have a virtual drive installed on the laptop software?  If so, uninstall it (at least temporarily) and restart the computer before trying the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the latest installer for it on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  • HP Mediasmart DVD - Blu Ray problem

    Hi I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-2300.

Last month I had a problem when trying to play a few blurays with smart media. It was as if the Player tries to rplay disc, but after some time nothing happened, if I tried to update the software, but it shows an error during installation (something on this topic couldn't find a dll file in the folder of mediasmart dvd), I tried to uninstall it but displayed the same problem. After struggling with it, I decided to restore my laptop with the recovery discs.

It worked, I was able to watch my blurays, but recently the same problem came back. So I did a little research and I found that the PC or device manager sees 2 readers of comics (F and H). I also found that I can see all the files on disc bluray but I can't play any of them media smart dvd.

I also installed the Power DVD 10 to test as a trial and it cannot read the movies either, it says that the disk has a format of media unrecognize, or something like that.

So I decided to try to update with the latest version (4.2.4701), but the error I mentioned earlier, appeared once again, I have the previous version (4.1.4328).

As the media smart dvd worked until now I run only a few updates of windows and the HP updates (like the quick launch buttons and chipset). I wonder if these updates have something to do with the problem.

BTW: I can watch DVD movies without problem in the DVD Smart Media, the problem occurs only with the BD discs.

I hope you can help me...

    Thanks in advance.

You can post a screenshot of what you see in 'computer '?

    You use a virtual drive?

Here's what yours should look like.

Drive 'E' is the second last next to drive Clone as appropriate so that DVD MS is going to see it.

  • MediaSmart DVD player no longer works! Help

Good so now when I try to open the mediasmart DVD I get a message that appears and says "the program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing on your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. "How can I reinstall the program? And is this really the solution to this problem.

    Hello

This assumes that you are running Windows 7.

Try the following to see if you can get MediaSmart DVD works - we can address other MediaSmart software later.

Download and install Revo Uninstaller from the link below.

Run revo and use it to uninstall your HP MediaSmart DVD software.  Make a right click on the program icon you want to remove and select uninstall.  During the process, that you may be asked to remove the registry entries, simply select all and then click on remove.  Do the same for any left over files and folders.  Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the PC.

Then, download the latest installer for MediaSmart DVD on the link below and save it to your desktop.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp50501-51000/sp50935.exe

If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Right click on the installation program you download, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files, and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder, open src and scroll down until you see the application setup ( 6th in the background with a size of 310 KB ).  This Application Configuration right click and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once the installation is complete, restart the computer and see if you can now read your Blu - ray discs.

  • Blu Ray player and HP MediaSmart DVD problem

I recently bought a hp with a hp w2408h m9515y desktop computer.  This computer came equipped with a Blu Ray player and when I tried to play a movie for the first time on hp mediasmart dvd I got the message 'content is protected', "the content is not allowed to play in the current display mode.  I also tried to play blu ray on windows media player and windows media center and had no chance.  I spoke with hp and geek technical support team of the best buy also with no luck.  If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it, of course.  Thank you

  • HP Mediasmart Dvd will not play Blurays

Recently, when I insert a Bluray disc in my drive, I get an error message on Mediasmart that says ' no disc loaded, please don't insert disc. When I check the drive through Windows Explorer, it shows that a disc is indeed loaded and I can see the files on the disk. This occurs on all discs, I've tried.

Where should I start looking for a solution to this problem?

Also, someone has the link to the latest periodic update for HP Mediasmart Dvd.

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the idea... I uninstalled the old Dvd Mediasmart and ready to reinstall. Do I really need to install 7 - Zip method when a simple double click will install the new file to run, or is there something special about the file?

  • HP Mediasmart DVD is reluctant to play BD

    Hey there,

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4272us Entertainment Notebook PC and Mediasmart will not play a Blu - Ray disc, when it is inserted.

MediaSmart will pop up, tell me that the disc is ready to play and invite me to press the button "play".

After that, the loading symbol appears again, and then he tells me the same thing. "Disk ready for play. Press Play to start"and he does over and over again, not going anywhere.

I downloaded and installed the latest version of Mediasmart, 4.2.2.4701 while I used to have a 4.2.1.4521.

I was never able to play Blu - ray discs on my laptop, but normal DVDs work fine. Until I installed the new version, I got a black screen whenever I pressed play to a Blu - ray disc.

This problem is very frustrating and I'd love to finally get an answer to fix. Thank you in advance for any advice!

If HP MediaSmart DVD works now, you will need to add it to the list of exceptions in AVG before reactivating the resident shield.
