  You have activated the web interface of migration? Check that you have configured the computer source of Cisco Secure ACS 5.1/5.2 with a unique IP address. The migration tool may fail during the migration if each interface has multiple IP address aliases.

  I guess that's the problem with trying to be an early adopt.

  I'm trying to upgrade my environment to vSphere 4.1. My old VC was 32 bits with a local SQl 2005 express (it's a lab - I don't want the full SQL version blown).

  I re isntalled on a x 64 2008 R2. No, it's fine. But empty... no license or anything like that.

  The docs say you can use the data migration tool to move the DB and config.

  I followed the instructions and after backup.bat running I get the following error:

  FYI, yes connections allow, is named pipes, sql browser started. Former VC works very well. The ODBC test OK. Running local and connected system as a local administrator. Tried running SQL express under the same admin account. Still broken.

  I think you mean the Microsoft Access database. OATMEAL Version 8.x is old enough. You must talk to the best Oracle path for upgrade. Version 12.x is not easy to use for the migration of access. There may be a way described in that link I sent before.

• The data migration to 4.1 problem

  Hi guys,.

  I've read and done almost everything in the present statutes and still did not solve my problem with the Data Migration tool.

  Everything seems to go smoothly, but once the restore is complete, I find myself in a situation where two things are are produced.

  Firstly - restored configuration is not in fact restored - vacuum.

  Second - my vCenter is proud to announce that its evaluation license has expired. Either way, it's good to know (means that at least the period of assessment and departure have been migrated).

  I am of the opinion that when I run the Backup I don't see that it backs up the license keys. I looked at the official youtube film of VMware and I can certainly see that the license information must be saved.

  Any suggestions?

• 4.1 Data Migration tool - "error: failure of the backup of the configuration of the vCenter Orchestrator.

  While following this KB article, I came across an error.  I googled a bit but it is really not a lot on that.  This process took me the better part of a month to get to this day.  Now all I have to do is migrate my databases and settings...  However, as with everything else I came against from 4.0 to 4.1 (and building a new server to do), nothing seems to be going my way with this project.

  Anyway, I executed the script of backup.bat several times and each time, it failed in the same place.  The error given is "error: failure of the backup of the configuration of the vCenter Orchestrator."  The log file has been attached.  I rebooted, made sure that all VMware services have been arrested and still no joy.

  Any help would be great!  If this isn't the case, I'll have to make another call to the support team.  I played with VMware products for years and I've never had to call until this project came.  In this month alone, I opened 4 tickets!

  I'm almost certain that this can be ignored without risk, especially if you do not use Orchestrator.  I recently made a 4.1 migration to another server and got the same error - I had any issues at all.

  We have the acs server that has the ssl running certficate(certifcate authority) in the acs 3.2 for eap - tls user authentication windows version.

  We want the same be migrated to application 4.2 (appliance) acs. I tried in different ways to push the certificate but I couldn't.

  I tried the System Configuration Thru--> ACS certificate--> certificate installation to install ACS--> download the certificate file

  As I mentioned the FTP server IP address, identification information, name and path

  But if I submit the application sound giving the directory not found or incorrect credentials.

  I wanted to migrate a Windows XP Machine Workstation 8 and everything worked fine.

  Then I tried to start an application in this virtual machine and it doesn´t work. I made a second migration before tools VMware and the driver installation has been finished, I started the application and it worked. But after installtion it didn t work more.

  I tried to cancel the installation, but that luckily possible.

  My question is: How can I force the virtual machine, that it does not install not the drivers and tools automatically? And how do I install only parts of the drivers and tools?

  Hello everyone

  Impossible to migrate virtual machines on iSCSI SAN. Failure at the helm of the 10%. Peut vmping to all addresses

  I recently installed a new configuration of the VM and I feel the above. My configuration is:

  2 HP DL380 with 1CPU 16 GB of ram and 500 GB shared space on iSCSI SAN.

  Installation of the network as follows:

  each host has the 6 network ports that is load balanced and fault tolrated in 3 VMSwitches. VMSwitch0 goes to 2 ports to shared resources on a 4510th cisco. On this switch, I use VLAN tagging to different servers that perform different functions. It works fine.ie. VLAN 5 is for the management vlan 31 is for secure vlan servers 37 is forinternal Web servers.

  VMSwitch1 is a vmkwenelport for the connection of iSCSI SAN. It is set on vlan 200 on the switch, so does tagging vlan put it. We have separated our san network ourusual networks.

  vmswitch2 is used for backup purposes and is used in a similar manner as vmswitch0. the ports of trunkied and backup services is vlan tag to go to the correct servers.

  I am able to ping betwneen the VLANS allowed. I can also vmkping to all the ip addresses of the two hosts san.

  What I can't do is to migrate direct customers between the hosts. He is still unable to 10% with the following error:

  No iSCSI traffic will work only if vmKernal and vmConsole are on the same vswitch. Maybe on the same vLAN according to how your VLAN.

• CiscoSecure ACS 4.2 could not start due to failure of the services start bit

  There are few services that wasn't able to restart, they are as follows:-

  (1) CSAuth

  Error:-"Windows could not start the csauth on local computer. For more information, see the system event log. If it is

  a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor and refer to service 1060 "specific error code

  (2) CSTacacs

  Error:-"Windows failed to start the cstacacs on the local computer. For more information, see the system event log. If it is

  a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor and refer to service 1066 "specific error code

  (3) CSRadius = start

  the rest of services like CSAdmin, CSDbSync, case were lit.

  Also I am not able to take the acs system backup of the System Configuration-> ACS Backup and pressing backup now. It shows the msg of error as

  : - CSAuth service must be running to start the backup

  I was referring to the snapshots of the OS itself, but I guess you checked now.

  Do not forget that the case works so you should see logs for services that do not work. Learn about the \CSAuth\logs folder for logs CSAuth and other records for other services that do not work.

  This guide should help you solve the question if there is no other software on the server to cause trouble. One thing it says who can apply to you is to ensure that the Windows Firewall as connection sharing Internet is not ongoing.

  Because I am familiar with your server, I think you should do the quick test below for if sure there are not taken, which may be crashing the authentication services that you mentioned. In the command line, type "netstat - ano | Findstr Listening-i"and see if or not he has taken open your ports Ganymede + and radius. He will probably return false, but it's worth a check.

  Worst case scenario, you may be able to use CSUtil to back up the database (I'm fairly certain you can back up services that work), install the ACS on a new Windows 2003 server, and then restore. You can use CSUtil to many types of exports and operations as well.

  If you manage to deal with the problem or not, you should speak with the person who is responsible for making backups of your servers and make sure that something like this was coming once again that you can have a quick fix during a maintenance window.

• failure of the system, looking for answers

  Need help for the guys. Had a major failure of the system last week, and I'm a bit confused as to what happened and why I was unable to get free. I lost a bit of my confidence in Vsphere, and I'd like to renew that.

  A bit on the environment, esxi 5.0 U1, with servers HP Gen 8 3 node cluster running. HP P4500 SAN iscsi for vmfs data storage. ESXi is installed on HP's CF cards in servers. This cluster has been upward and running for about 6 months, not a single hiccup before that.

  Wednesday we have migrated 2 of our vm (SQL and progress) to this cluster 5.0 database, the virtual machine went on different hosts in the cluster. The virtual machine was running on a cluster 2 older nodes with esxi 4.1 U2. Machines migrated fine, fine tools updates, reboot, everything seemed fine.

  About 2 hours after that the migration, we started to receive calls that our Progress database is down, users could not connect. Then we started getting more calls, other machines were inaccessible. Glancing from vcenter I could see all the virtual machines in question were on the same host, and I was unable to open the console in vsphere for VMs on that host. The host showed he was connected, showed all the vm connected, but I could not open the console or the desktop remotely to one of the VMs on that host. I started studying, and of course this host fell all the SAN Iscsi network connections. The railways have shown dead. Ports of nic card viewed active, the switch ports showed activity, but the connections were down. I could always ping the address of management for the host however, and ports for vmotion were in place.

  At this point, I started to try and vmotion VMs on that host data base progress, he would not migrate, just sat at 8% prepare to migrate. I tried other virtual machines with the same result. I started to wonder why HA had not kicked, and why I couldn't move anything. At this stage the host started disconnecting from the cluster. I could always ping on the host, but vsphere showed as disconnected. I couldn't move my VM, and I couldn't go to the host via vcenter, via the vsphere client pointed directly to the host, or by using the DCUI.

  So I called VMware support, got an engineer on the line with me, and it became clear we were going to have to power cycle that host and crash all virtual machine running on it. It wasn't a very pleasant for me answer because this database of progress is our main production system, and I was afraid of corruption. We had no choice, so we did. When the host came back upward, fortunately the virtual machine came very well. VMware engineer digging in the newspapers and said that this was with a particular NIC card driver with known issues. He showed me the KB on this issue, and it seemed to be a known issue. We have updated these drivers on all hosts, and that's all.

  My problem with this is that, how is the cluster ran fine for 6 months without problem, and how come the redundant path to the SAN did not keep the connection active when with the path with the bad nic card driver failed? I have 2 different, with 2 NICs different paths for the Iscsi SAN. The other card had no known driver issue. Why both paths failed not just in cause of a driver on one of the cards problem? More worrying is also how is it that I could not immigrate anything, and why no HA kick in?

  Sorry for the novel here, but without all the details is not part of a story. My biggest concern, that's why I couldn't move anything? In the event of a host failure, what you're supposed to do in order to migrate the machines if they don't migrate via vsphere client? We were down for about 2.5 hours, and a lot of questions were thrown on me the senior management as to why my "system available, redundant high" took hours to retrieve...

  Guys here any ideas, thoughts on how I would have handled it differently, reasons why I should be confident everything is fine now?

  If they had no link usable storage, this seems possible.  HA simply does not address the failures of storage.  Not at all.  It IS possible to activate at the level of the VM HA, but it isn't on by default - must be activated on a per-VM basis.  You should read the book by Duncan Epping on this - it's the bible of the AH.

  So in case something happens with the connection of storage, you have really no way to vmotion anything right here, and your only option is to kill the host / VM running on it, and then migrate or leave HA move them?

  Fix.

  I didn't know that I wouldn't be able to vmotion virtual machine if the host has lost its connection to storage. The other hosts in the cluster saw storage.

  The source host is controlling these VMDK, as far as the other guests are concerned (they see a lock on the file) and when they ask the host if its still alive, he answers (because it has not powered the network lost or down, which are the failure mode THAT HA is designed to handle). So they take charge.

  The reason why it took so long was because I didn't kill the host with my concerns for the database. I was hoping that the VMware engineer may have a way to gracefully close things down. So he spent some time looking around and trying to determine what was going on.   As long as you follow the seller advised for more decent databases (keeping the transaction logs, etc.), don't have good backups, theres no real risk of data corruption.  VMware does not significantly change the i/o path, in order to have the same exposure than on a physical host.

  Well the host went offline because it got stuck in an all-paths-down scenario, which is common for 5.0.  5.1 solves this problem a little.  I don't know why all roads fell, but I suspect that you have a misconfig somewhere... normally you expect at least 4 paths in a system set up correctly on the left.  Check with HP to ensure that you follow best practices.

• Migration tool for 64 bit LabXML

  Hello!

  This post is not exactly on LabVIEW concerns, but I'll try anyway ;-)

  We used the LabXML tool in many applications for a long time without problems (downloaded from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/labxml/files/LibXML-toolkit/).

  Now we are one of these big request to LabVIEW 64bits, migration and we must upgrade LabXML to 64 bit.

  Theoretically, just recompile the dll files to 64 bit and that's all! But it's not as simple as that...

  LabXML is the use of knots "Call library function" call 2 dll: libxml and IXMLWrap.

  To update these dll in 64-bit, I tried the following:

  -libxml: this one is dependent upon other dll (iconv, zlib). I downloaded the 64-bit versions of: ftp://ftp.zlatkovic.com/libxml/64bit/

  -IXMLWrap: this one is based on libxml and libxslt (also downloaded from the top). I have the .c file (attached) and I tried to compile with visual studio and managed... almost!

  I get an IXMLWrap House compiled 64-bit dll but cannot load it with LabVIEW 64 bit...

  By reading the dll with 'The Dependency Walker tool' 64 bit, I got some errors of the export features.

  Indeed, when I compare the 32 and 64-bit DLLs with the Dependency Walker tool, I have the same functions in the dll, but do not have the same exported functions... (see attached image)

  I have 2 questions:

  -someone has already tried to use LabXML with labVIEW 64bits, and already the DLLs to share?

  -is anyone has any clue as to what is the problem with my IXMLWrap dll: incorrect downloaded dll, problems in my Visual studio project configuration,...?

  I will buy a new computer Windows 8 & I need to transfer all of my E Mail that is in Outlook Express 6 on my Windows XP computer.

  When I go to install the e-mail Migration tool, I get a message... "Somehing came while we were checking your account, and we cannot proceed to the next step. Please, refresh the page and try Again.

  No matter how many times I refresh the page I get the same message... Someone at - it a better idea on how to do it? Outlook Express is a large E Mail client. Is there something better out there? I have 6 Road Runner E Amil accounts I use Oulook Express for. Now what should I do?

  Assuming you are using a POP3 with Road Runner account, the Mail Win8 app does not support POP3, so you will need to install a client messaging like Windows Live Mail, MS Outlook, Thunderbird, etc. If you choose WLMail, here's what you need to know.
   
  
  Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:
   
  
  For Messages:
   
  Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.
   
  V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.
   
  V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.
   
  
  Location of OE message store:
   
  In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
   
  In Windows XP the OE User (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.
   
  
  For addresses:
   
  Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.
   
  For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.
   
  WLMail 2011/2012: switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.
   
  Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.
   
  
  For the account settings:
   
  In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new desktop computer.
   
  For WLMail 2009: Tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.
   
  For WLMail 2011: The Menu button. Options | E-mail accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

  I'm glad to know that you've posted queries in Microsoft communities.

  According to the description, it looks like you aren't able to open the disk defragmentation in Windows XP.

  I have a couple of steps that should help you with this problem.

  Method 1:

  Try the fixit and the steps mentioned in this link and check.

  There are several reasons why the built-in defragmentation may not work correctly:

  Step 1. The disk is too full (you need at least 15% free space, sometimes 20%). Solution: Delete files unnecessary and programs until you have more than 20% free space.

  Step 2.

  The disc is damaged and must be repaired. Solution:

  a. open "My computer" and right-click on the drive that you want to disable frag.
  b. Select 'Properties' and click on 'tools '.
  c. Select "Check now" to check the drive for errors.
  d. Select the two options and click on 'start '.

  (This can take time and can restart the PC so that it can do the check at boot time. Be patient and let it complete).

  Step 3. There may be malware on the PC
