Failure of the backup...

Operation of a desktop Mac via OS X El Capitan 10.11.2.

External hard drive is a Western Digital My Book.

I get the message "the backup failed.  Time Machine could not back up, "Joe My BookBU." "This message appears on my desktop.

When you open System Preferences, I offer a note of Time Machine that says:

Time Machine could not complete the backup.  An error occurred during the creation of the backup folder.

Last successful backup: December 28, 2015.  (Today is January 1, 2016.  Happy New Year).

Any ideas?

  • 4.1 Data Migration tool - "error: failure of the backup of the configuration of the vCenter Orchestrator.

While following this KB article, I came across an error.  I googled a bit but it is really not a lot on that.  This process took me the better part of a month to get to this day.  Now all I have to do is migrate my databases and settings...  However, as with everything else I came against from 4.0 to 4.1 (and building a new server to do), nothing seems to be going my way with this project.

Anyway, I executed the script of backup.bat several times and each time, it failed in the same place.  The error given is "error: failure of the backup of the configuration of the vCenter Orchestrator."  The log file has been attached.  I rebooted, made sure that all VMware services have been arrested and still no joy.

Any help would be great!  If this isn't the case, I'll have to make another call to the support team.  I played with VMware products for years and I've never had to call until this project came.  In this month alone, I opened 4 tickets!

I'm almost certain that this can be ignored without risk, especially if you do not use Orchestrator.  I recently made a 4.1 migration to another server and got the same error - I had any issues at all.

  • Finish the backup after the failure of the backup

I have Vista Home Premium and has begun in full who has not completed a new backup (not) because of the lack of free space on my external hard drive. So I released the space by removing an older backup. After stopping and restarting my PC because of display problems on the monitor, I wanted to try and resume the backup failed, but it seems that Windows is now again a new full backup. Is it possible to get just Windows to complete the first incomplete backup, without having to start a new backup complete? Thank you in advance.

In fact the backup failed threw when I clicked on backup files. Initially, it seemed Windows began a new full backup but backup completed in less than an hour and added the files to the backup incomplete, similar to an incremental backup. I guess that Windows has recognized that the new backup had not completed and recognized the game on the external hard drive to backup.

    Hi Winston,

    ·         When was the last time it worked?

    ·         Remember to make changes to the computer recently?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: Check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is running.

    a. click Start, type services.msc in the start search.

    b. find the shadow copy volume service.

    c. right-click on the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) and select Properties. Check if it is started.

    d. If it is stopped, select Start or restart. Make sure that the service is started and set as Automatic.

    e. click apply and OK, if you make any changes.

Method 2: Check if you delete temporary files using the computer. Disk Cleanup allows you to do the same thing.

    Delete files using disk cleanup

Method 3: I suggest that you unplug any external drive connected to the computer except the keyboard and mouse.

This error message can occur if there is some system files corrupted on your computer. I suggest that you run a scan SFC (System File Checker) that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

  • Failure of the system for Windows 8 image backup

I downloaded Windows 8 a few days ago. I tried to create a system image to an external drive, Western Digital 500 GB (409 GB free) four times and each time after a few minutes a message said that the backup failed. The backup of the recovery Partition seems end OK every time. The failures occurred after a minute or two in the backup of the C: drive of the OS.

The external hard drive checked OK. The player has already had an image of the system for Windows 7 which was removed before the backup attempt. Here are 2 messages I received as the backup failed. The other 2 were much the same, I think.

"There was a failure in the preparation of the backup image of any of the volumes in the backup set. (0X807800C).
The mounted backup volume is inaccessible. Try the operation again. (0X8078004F)."

"There was a failure in the preparation of the backup image of any of the volumes in the backup set. (0X807800C).
The specified drive is not found. (0 X 80780081)"

Below are the 2 files on the external hard drive after the failure. I guess that the first was the complete recovery Partition backup. I don't know much about this sort of thing.

    7da23344-ab79-11e1-887d-806e6f6e6963.vhdx - 7.61 GB
    7da23345-ab79-11e1-887d-806e6f6e6963.vhdx - 7.00 MB

Anyone have any ideas on the problem? The software only virus on the PC is Windows Defender that came with the operating system.

Fifth time is a charm, I suppose. I tried saving image system for the fifth time and successfully completed this time. Nothing has changed on my system or readers.

  • Failure of the master node and the backup in VSAN 6.0

Just curious as to what will happen to VSAN Cluster if master node and backup is omitted VSAN 6.0 cluster. Lets assume there are 10 esxi hosts in this cluster.

It assumes that you implement a FFT = 2, which means all your VMS survive this double failure.

Another host in the cluster will be the responsibility of the master, and the other will take responsibility of the backup.

This may take a little longer than normal, as the new master and the backup to learn more about the configuration and rebuild the contents of the directory (that's what the backup node already for a quick conversion to master the master goes down).

Other than that, affect without side effects.

  • Backup Windows survey the failure error code backup 0 x 80780048 - not enough disk space on the destination drive.

The backup includes a complete image of the C: System and all files on drive C: (used space on C: = 377 GB), goes to an external hard drive with a capacity of 930 GB (540GB free on external). The size of the backup when the backup has stopped and gave me the error: 295.4 GB (leaving 347 GB of free hard disk external) backup took more than 13 hours. I use Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit, 1 MS) on a Dell XPS 17 L702X. Full size of hard disk installed (drive c :)) = 500 GB.

I have no idea whether or not Windows backup really did all my files saved or if or not he managed to obtain a complete picture of the system in the backup. I absolutely need to have the two all my files and an image of the system as a backup because I change my OS drive of 500 GB for one SSD drive smaller hard drive. This 500 GB drive will be wiped out and used as a storage device, but I'd rather have the ability to restore to its original state if something goes wrong. I hope you can solve this problem for me.

I suggest avoid you the Windows backup program and you get a good commercial backup program. This forum meets for a windows problem reports. I know that I was very impressed when I tried it. Three I'm familiar with and like Norton Ghost (which I use for 8 years no 1 problem), Easeus Todo Backup free, you can download it from

http://www.TODO-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm and Memeo , which has 30 day free trial and you can buy it for $29.99 - you can download it from http://memeo.com . You can get Ghost for almost nothing (like me), if you look at the sales.

The March 2012 issue of PC World is very high on the program FREE of Easeus and I tested it recently in a variety of configurations; and must say that I am very impressed. As Ghost will support up to a network drive and it will create a bootable CD for when your PC does not start. See commentary to PC World to

    4. in the server database, make a backup of the C:\oracloud\agent_inst\sysman\emd\target.xml file

    5 edit the file C:\oracloud\agent_inst\sysman\emd\target.xml

-Remove all the entries that refer to the database of the target container

-my case the xml file has several entries with different target system names pointing to the same target, weird container base, do not know how this could happen

-J' removed all the and saved the xml file

-Add the database to the target return container to oem12c

    8 OEM12c > target > databases

-wait a few minutes for the target container of database state, to be 'green '.

-Click on the database of the container link

-Click availability > Backup & Recovery > scheduled backup...

!!! It works fine now! I can create the backup job.
