  • My Dell Latitude Tablet is stuck on 'Failure to configure Windows updates from reinstatement of changes' (Windows 8)

    It was stuck on this during about 3 hours and I desperately need to use... It is essentially new from today, as I had mail. I really don't understand why this is happening and I can't find a way to fix.

    From what Ive seen in similar forums, that I'll post things that do not work in my situation.

    • I don't have any sort of keyboard or mouse for this tablet.
    • I tried to restart the flight button and button / stop
    • I took the battery.
    • I do not have a more 8 GB USB so I can't use a recovery.

    Honestly, I'm so frustrated because I both want and need to use it for school... I don't have the time and money to run around to try to find a larger USB... at least not for a few days or a week. If no indication as to what is wrong and all the other options would be very appreciated.

    Hi Alex,

    I understand the inconvenience caused to you due to this problem. Installation of Windows Update takes this long period. It seems to be a problem with the Windows Update components. You could also face this problem at any time update does not install correctly and it is not to let any other updates to settle.

    As you mentioned that this is a new feature by Dell I suggest you contact the manufacturer or point of purchase. You can contact the Dell forums on the information provided below.

  • Windows configuration update 3 of 3 keeps repeating...

    When I turn on the computer all that I get is the screen saying configuration update 3/3, turn off your computer, etc...  This display remains the same for a long time (5-10 min) and when it ends finally it restarts and all comes down to the same 3/3 updates Configuration screen.  This process is repeated for 2 days now.  Can anyone help?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your falls into the above category: download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    Help please before you take a hammer to the laptop. The update seems to be in a loop and for 3 days I wasn't able to stop or delete it. I turned off, left running for hours on end and tried everything I can think of. How can I erase this. I'm not very good with computers, so maybe it's a simple answer then excuses.
  • Downgrade from Windows - 8 updates from Windows-7 Pro-Windows-8 causing of programs; Troubleshooting and problems
    Dear Microsoft community team,
    I installed the Windows (27) - 8 and Office 2010 updates yesterday that was recommended in the notifications of security & systems.
    After installing these updates (27) in my HP Envy h8 - 1520t PC, my programs said crash and stop and start automatically. This has been a recurring problem with the updates of Windows-8 that I installed in my new PC.
    As a result, I am unable to play my favorite games, use applications and have constant program blocks.
    I am very disappointed with these problems. I bought a copy of OEM OS-Windows 7 PRO 64 bit and would like to downgrade from Windows-8 to-Windows 7 PRO 64-bit OS. Can you please provide me with instructions to install Windows - 7 PRO on my PC?
    I spent countless hours online and search for bugs on the web sites of Microsoft for Windows-8 updates of the anomalies and corrections, with no resolution. HP has no alternative but to contact Microsoft support. I can't find a link email Microsoft support anywhere.
    Please help me as soon as possible. Many individuals have downgraded to Windown-8 to-Windows 7 PRO with positive results on their HP Envy h8 - 1520 t PC. I never had a problem with the Windows 7 operating system.
    2. Windows 7... 64-bit... .latest service Pack installed.
    3. it was an upgrade of Vista 64 bit... but works very well since 8-2010 when I installed Win7
    4. I ran sfc/scannow and it reports that everything is ok
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Thank you that worked for me even if I don't have to go to the Microsoft download website.  I checked the history of update and there were a few who failed to update.  He said there was updates had to wait to be downloaded so I clicked on that and then selected the updates, click on the bottom. I think he may have said then or download it now.  It took me back to the update page where I chose to update.  Which corrects the problem.  I have them one at a time incase there was a special that was causing problems, but they fine all the updates and my computer restarted normally
  • Default configuration updates/changes...hang
    Hello
    I come here with a difficult problem... I have a Probook s 4740. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8 and HP security tools. Recently, I decided to upgrade to 8.1 Windows and for that I had to uninstall HP security tools. I did the uninstall and update of Windows. After a day of using the computer hang. I have updated using HP recovery. As the version of the OS was old he himself day after a day or two. The update went well. After starting windows the next day he started the configuration of updates. Something went wrong and it failed with: "Failure of windows configuration updates from reinstatement of changes". She suspended and never finished. I've refreshed believe once again that it does not refresh correctly. All of this happens again. After updating once again, then whole reinstallation of windows, the problem persists. At this point, I updated the computer 4 times and reinstalled Windows 1 hour. I tried to disable all the services non-windows and update according to the guidelines of this forum: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Failure-configuring-Windows-upd, but it did not work. It failed with: "default configuration changes in windows. Changes in return ".
    What should I do? My laptop is still under warranty of extednded. Can I make a soft/hard reset or take my computer of sevice? I hope I can solve this on my own as being without my cell phone would be very inconvinient. Other solutions? If you need further information please tell.
    Best regards, Tony.
    Use the HP recovery media to access the Microsoftsystem to restore and then choose a restore point dated before the update of events that caused the stroke.
    Note the number of the update and make sure that you leave not only one install new. You can do that by changing the update of Windows settings from install automatically to informez me update availability, but let me decide to download and install updates.
    It is likely that your Windows updates are not getting downloaded or installed correctly.
    First of all, we advise you to check your update history and see if there are updates failed. To learn how, see the question "How can I find out what were the updates installed?" on the link below:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/Windows-Update-FAQ
    If there are updates failed, try to download and install the ones that updates once more and see if that helps.
  • Already Windows XP updates installed
    Can already installed Windows XP updates from 2006 to 2009 being removed? Remove them will affect the operating system?
    See: http://taurarian.mvps.org/WU_XP/removing_old_windows_updates.htm
    Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ who reside in C:\windows (hidden files) are window Hot difficulty updating folders/files) can be removed safely (providing ever, you wish to uninstall the updates). I recommend you leave these records for a period of at least one month to make sure that the update works correctly.
    These updates can be removed individually or together. To learn more about the update/s go on:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/xxxxxx
    NB: XXXXXX = the actual number, not to mention the "Q" or "Ko."
    Once you have removed the uninstall folders/files, then go to control panel, add/remove programs. Select the title of the corresponding Windows fix on the folder/file of the patch you just deleted, and select Delete. You will get a Windows error. This is because you deleted the uninstall folder/files. Simply choose OK and the entry will be removed from the Add/Remove Programs list.
