Since you have formatted the PC and reinstalled Windows, your question will be handled better in the hardware forum space and drivers for Windows 7, so I'll move it there.

Apparently, you need to install the driver of your PC network. If you used the CD to restore the PC manufacturer that should have been included, but it may be on a 2nd CD with drivers and programs.

If not, the first thing to do is contact the PC manufacturer to see if they have a driver available for download. If the PC has a wireless network card and wired, perhaps one has been configured, but not the other and you try to use the not yet detected and installed.

Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

  • The FBI... again :(virus

Me again! I just can't get rid of the Virus of the FBI. I had Malwarebytes several times. Said it all went... Fake! It's still there and I get that dreaded page at least every night. Kaspersky Anti-virus is not even catch it. Would a new hard drive fix my problem OR do a full return to work in the factory? I'm ready for that throw out the window!

Any help is appreciated... Thank you.

  • No windows firewall after the fbi virus

Recently, I caught the virus from the FBI and used Norton Power Eraser to get rid of him. However, now my windows firewall will not turn on. I get the 2different error messages: 'Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings,' and when I try to update the firewall settings "Windows Firewall could not make the requested updates. It also does not allow me to activate Windows defender, giving me the error code '0 x 800070424 '. My only system restore point comes from when I was still having this problem and my last backup was a while ago. What are my options here? Thank you!

    Hello

What do you use for an Antivirus and it is part of a Suite of Internet Security?

If you are using an Internet Security Suite, it will have its own firewall and disables the default Windows Firewall.

And you should have only one firewall to avoid problems related to the operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):

"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.

Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.

Once modified, click apply and OK.

If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
To do: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. just got one of these "fake virus/malware" warnings and a click here to remove I've seen before over the years.  I did a screen pring and disconnected my network cable and rebooted.  Would like to send my impression of screed to someone who might be able to track down.  It must be quite new if my safety at day missed.  It would be so nice to take one of these jerks in jail who create such things.  Anyway, the site allegedly attached to this was:

And of course the page Web said I was infected with all sorts of things but by "clicking here" will arrange everything.  I pulled my network cable and rebooted instead (after the screenshot).

    Hi ZacharyWright,

You can run the Microsoft to check security scanner for infection by the virus. Check out the following link.
