Family Safety time limits is no longer log off user

Hello

Now I used a while to FSS deadlines for on the same laptop. Recently (I guess that for an update), delays are no longer disconnect the user. You are unable to log on to the account during blocked times, however, once logged on you without getting more time per minute 15 "you will be logged out' warning and my son can continue to use the computer.

Until I get the stock answers: -.

  • It has a standard account and I have an administrator account on the laptop.
  • I uninstalled the filter and reinstalled the latest version
  • I refreshed the filter and box "your settings have been updated" appear
  • Time box is checked on the Web site
  • It is a Windows 7 PC with all the patches/updates applied and carefully scanned for virus/malware

Family safety is blocking sites and reports very well for this account, it's just time disconnect feature that does not work. I followed all the steps of other responses.

Any other suggestions?

Hi, Andy Long,.

The same question was discussed on this thread, please check it and try the solution proposed, if the problem persists please reply to this message with the following information:

  • What is the version of the safety of your family?
  • What browser you are using to configure the settings on the Web site of the parental control? You can try configuring it using Internet Explorer?
  • You receive an error when you change settings on the Web site of the parental control?
  • Are there other accounts of child on parental controls? If so, time always work?

In addition, please provide us with a screenshot the parameters of time limit for the account of the child concerned. I have sent you a private message for instructions. After you download the screenshot, please let know us in this thread.

Thank you!

  • Family Safety time limits must be checked through machines

I use RTM of Windows 8 on a desktop computer and a laptop. I have set up Family Safety on behalf of my son on both machines. It has a delay of 45 minutes per day. He has discovered that he can use 45 minutes on the desktop, then move it to the laptop and use another 45 minutes. I think it is a bug. I believe that the correct behavior is to the allocation of time to follow on all the computers to which it has access. Please correct.

How would that be able to follow through all the machines?  Do you give your son a Microsoft Account access?

There is no way to monitor a local account anywhere to separate machines.  You will need to monitor the activity and do not rely on Windows to do it for you to break your limit of 45 minutes.  It is not a bug when using local accounts.
A Microsoft Account might be able to be the subject of a follow-up, but again, it is not the use of Microsoft to track these things.  Especially on multiple computers.  They've already given you control over everything else, you should be able to know which machine it uses and how much time is left.  Split time between the 2 machines.  20 minutes on the desktop and 25 on the laptop.  Problem solved without blaming Microsoft for tracking everything that your son didn't.
  • Windows 7 Family Safety - time not to close the session user.

    Hi guys,.

I've set up my son an 'ordinary' on his laptop computer account, and I have an account "admin".  I've implemented time limits, which are carried out in collaboration with Windows Live.

When the time comes, my son is NOT disconnected from its system.  If it disconnects, it cannot connect to (which is good), but if he uses the laptop at the end of the "admitted" time, he is permitted to continue.

I think he should get a 15 minute warning beforehand that he will be disconnected.

  • Family Safety time limit - less restrictive, less flexibility

Is it possible to bring back the time grid selection in parental controls?  With the previous method, I could let my children stay connected to do homework or play games (with me) until 1 or 02:00.  but with the new configuration from the drop-down list, to allow access from midnight to 01:00 and still allow normal hours (i.e. 07:00 - 21:00), access must be granted from midnight until 21:00.

Can bring back us the time grid selection?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

Thank you for details on the issue and we are happy to help you.

  • Log off user

    Hello

If that I disconnect the user running the calc script, what impact on it? Any loss of data, or the user just needs to re - run the calc script?

    Thank you

If you try just to logout of the user, the attempt fails - you must specify the option 'use force' to kill a running query (for example, a calculation) or to end the application with a separate command first.

I think that it is possible to dream of the scenarios where you might cause data loss - stuff with iterative operations on the same data and erases or copies - but I ache to think "real world" examples that have really bitten me (or situations where you really need to write a calc that you opened up the problem).

Put special cases other, insofar as actually kill a calculation's, Essbase that will handle correctly. Of course, if your calc clears higher levels before Commission or erases the slice of currency convert first (to give realistic examples) then you have data 'disappeared' until you run again, but no permanent loss.

    Hi fsscayc,

Regarding your password problem, I will convey this to our Windows Live team as a feature request for a future version of the program. The team of the said values and recognizes the suggestions and feedback from users of the Windows Live products. You can also submit this page http://feedback.live.com/ and select "Windows Live Family Safety".

When you go to fss.live.com and it redirects you to the website "Live Essentials", this indicates that the account has not yet been defined in the client Windows Live Family Safety. You must connect to the customer first before you can access fss.live.com.

On the prompt "only an adult can connect as a Parent Family Safety. Ask an adult to log in.' it is possible that you tried to open a session with a Windows Live account does not have the required age of the customer sign of family security.

Let us know if you have followed all of questions about this.

    2. in virtue your computers, click remove computers from this list.
    3. next to the name of the computer that you want to remove, select Remove, and then click Save.
    4. return to the home page.

Delete the account as a parent

After that, see if you are always prompt to the error after your system turns on.

  • "Family Safety > settings user > user activities > time PC used" shows always "1 minute".

I have Windows 8, clean install, not an upgrade to Windows 7.

I have set up three accounts of child when I got the laptop.

As a first step, the "time limits" worked and accounts would be to warn children when they had spent some time.

Now, two of the three children never warns.  In addition, when I check their accounts, it shows always only '1 minute' for any day that they were connected.

I am using local accounts for each of them, not the "Family Safety site", since none of my kids have accounts of Microsoft.

Y at - it a patch to do this, please?

    Hi Daniel,.

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I understand that delays in parental control does not work. • I want to disable the ability to go back and save your work before the expiration of time on the family safety settings

My daughter uses the option to go back and save your work before closing down as a way open to passing the family safety settings. When she is about to be disconnected because of the time limit, she knows that three programs open with live data on them (like playing content in YouTube, chatting and playing an internet game all at the same time) he will come to the top and he the opportunity to go back and close its data. It completely negates the purpose of the limits of time. Because it doesn't then go back to the top and stop her. It falls just the problem completely. I don't know that this is just a gap in the family of security software. But thought I would ask to see if this option can be disabled, or if there is a way around it.

If you find the Parental control in Windows help, he will guide you to articles online for the safety of these two parental controls & family.  There may be a solution in the event of children in one of these roads.

  • The family safety activity log shows no data for Facebook

Original title: Family Safety + Chrome + Facebook

The latest version of Live Essentials is installed on Windows 7

Parental controls will not register the Chrome Facebook activity.
I see in the activity that children use, for example, 0.5 hours of chrome, but there is no granular information.
My daughter spent 2 hours on Facebook and the Family Safety activity log shows no data to Facebook.
The computer is a new installation of Windows 7
Live essentials have been installed yesterday.
All web links for accounts for children have been created yesterday
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to see real activity?
Also, before someone suggests using another browser, is not an option, IE is uninstalled.
Chrome is the only browser used because of all the android devices, we have.
    Thank you

Client Windows Live Family Safety currently not reported HTTPS traffic unless the web of the child, filtering mode is set to "notify on the adult.  Facebook who worked in HTTP mode has recently moved that the HTTPS site and that's the reason to not see, Facebook or any other site that is HTTPS in the progress report on Windows 7 machines.

It is resolved in Windows 8 and activity reports should show HTTPS traffic.

Current work around that for Windows 7 client

-Set the mode of web filtering to ' warn on adult "- child will receive a warning message if they go to all the adult sites and the parents will be informed in the annual report if the child decides to go to the site.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Thank you

  • Family safety report says that a blocked Web site has been visited several times.

    OT: The family safety report.

On my report it says that a blocked site has been visited 120 times. How is this possible when it is blocked?

    Hello

Thanks for posting the request in Microsoft Community Forums.

Have you checked by accessing the site blocked in the child's account to see if it's blocked or not?

Safe family activity reports will include sites that are visited but blocked. Also, sites that was redirected from other sites, or use a feature of this site (such as the Facebook Like function and share) will add also upward to the activity report.

I suggest you to check by accessing the Web site of the child's account. Also, make sure that the child's account does not use proxy connections.

You can also update the family safety filter and check the results.

How to update the family safety filter?

My son has been able to continue to use the time after its time.  In fact, the activity report of the user shows not despite him being for hours.  I called Microsoft who told me that I need to contact Dell.  Dell has freshen the whole system with IOLO (System Mechanic).  It worked for a few days.  It doesn't work any more.  I have blocked all the time that I must enter a password each time and allow increases.  Even if it does not work.  I put in the time, but he is able to continue to use it after this time must be complete.  Help!

    Any difficulty?

    Hello SpencerGamble,

Sorry to hear that you are having the same problem. It is likely that parental control binary files has become corrupted. To resolve this issue, remove all content under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Parental controls

  • Cannot connect to the Family Safety website

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, but Family Safety does not appear as a product of Windows Essentials...

MOD: It's because he was transferred on Windows forums. I have moved your question to you

    Quesiton:

For some reason I can't connect to the Web page for the family (https://familysafety.microsoft.com/) security controls

I see the browser tries to do something, it passes between the two following URLS 3 - 4 times before giving up.

    https://Familysafety.Microsoft.com/?WA=wsignin1.0

    https://login.live.com/login.SRF?WA=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=12&CT=1408500875&RVER=6.4.6456.0&WP=SAPI&wreply=https:%2f%2Ffamilysafety.Microsoft.com%2f%3Fwa%3Dwsignin1.0&LC=3081&ID=286847

    When he does not get the following error message;

"Connect: something was wrong and we cannot connect you right now." "Please try again later".

There is not much other info on the Web page other than an image of laptop with 'your account, our priority '.

I tried to log in security for the family for 24 hours now with the same result every time.

I tried to use the browsers Internet Explorer, Mozilla & Chrome, same result every time.   I tried two different places, home and work.

My e-mail and password are correct;  I can connect to mail.live.com using the same credentials which, whatever the reason, still works.

Only, I can't access security controls for the family on the Web site.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Matthew

Well, I reacted to the error description of the psionic with a known antidote to the symptoms he describes. This is clearly not the solution in this case, I went hunting and found dozens of threads on exactly the same problem. The solution the most common seems to involve logging on http://profile.live.com with the FS username and password, then using the change at the top button on the left to enter your first and last name. If you are already connected to another account, you must do it in a new browser session, for example in mode InPrivate of Internet Explorer.

  • Family safety account - stuck managed

In 2003-2004 my Microsoft account was handled through a first version of family safety product.  Some time later, the account was promoted to an adult account and is no longer managed by family safety products.  However, it seems to be a persistant problem with my account.  For example, I can't create a group on SkyDrive and get the error message "Windows Live Groups does not support family safety Managed Accounts.".  I am also unable to use options in SkyDrive to share files "share link".  I am also unable to see the options 'Invisible' or 'Available' when I click on my name at the top right of outlook.com.  Also, I don't see the little mail icon that appears directly on the left of the setting icon.

Here's what I linked to do to solve the problem:

    (1) I have tried other browsers and clear all caches

    (2) that I created a new account to confirm, it was isolated to my account, it is.

    (3) I installed the family safety and has visited the family safety Web site - I see no evidence that my account is managed through family safety.

I really don't want to switch to a different account of Microsoft because it is related to my xbox live gold account family (where I am the main account) and several other Microsoft services.

Anyway is not valid restrictions on my account?
