"Fan error" on T60

So first of all, there is no dust and there is nothing to block the fan blades, so it should work fine. In addition, fan is tested outside the laptop on a different power source to make it work probably. But when I turn on the laptop the fan does not turn at all. Just shows BIOS splash screen and fan error and then turns off. There is no way it is the fan, because as I said I tried it and it worked on a different power source.

Thanks for any help.

You need equipment to work ion the surface mount fuses. I think a preheater of quartz and a station of rework at controlled temperature is the minimum required. I think that on this model, the designation is F4

  • Satellite L850-1V0 - Fan error popped up while I was playing a game

Recently, I got an error that displayed so I was playing a game, he said that the cooling fan had a problem and that I should stop it immediately and send it for service.

It's the first time that I had this, I have a program called Speccy that tells me my computer's temperature and all these other things, the temperature is at its normal level and I've never had anything telling me: I had a front fan error.

For safety I changed the battery of balanced ECO which decreased the temperature a bit more, I put my hand on the battery and is not still warm, I can hear the fan and I can feel something out the gills.

Well, it seems like it was only false alarms.

Usually the laptop would shut down automatically in case of high temperature. This is the kind of internal, protection against overheating.

In any case I recommend you monitor the temperature level and keep an eye on the cooling fans.

In addition, check if the new BIOS is available. If the new BIOS has been released, try the update.

  • T440 giving Fan Error

I have a T440 which gives a fan error message and then stops immediately. And of course it just went out of warranty last month! Ideas like how to fix?

It's a pain that it just went out of warranty. This seems very early to a fan of die. I don't know how handy you can do things yourself. You just need a screwdriver, but some people are comfortable doing things like that and some are not. I guess the problem is the fan itself, because the only other involved part is the motherboard which is a much bigger problem. I'd say in 90% of cases, it's the fan itself. The fan is accessible by removing the bottom cover. The fan can be removed and replaced. On newer machines, I always offer a new fan, as opposed to a second-hand, that should come pre-pasted. • ThinkPad X 220 fan error

    Hello community of Lenovo,

Today my Thinkpad x 220 has stopped working and gives me a fan error. Is anyone able to advise how to solve this problem?

I was able to reboot once since but had no chance once again. Previously I had overheating, problems that might be related (idk).

I checked the connection between the fan and the motherboard already: it is connected propperly.

Other forum posts suggest a supply line by pressing several times the power button for 10-30 seconds (depending on the poster) without sources of power attached. This has not worked.

of @richk has explained elsewhere that it would be maybe due to the fan, (b) a fuse or fan sensors (c) being broken. As he suggests, I checked if the fan until the fan error is reported (by Visual inspection after removal of the keyboard). The fan moves a little bit as if it were to start turning. However, it is not really turn and just drops in the same position.

Unfortunately, I am long out of warranty and cannot but to send my ThinkPad to load for them to tell me that they cannot fix.

Anyone know what is the most likely cause? Replacing the fan will solve the problem? It is better to send to sustain even outside the warranty?

I also read here in the forum that the fan lubrication bearing solved a similar problem for some users. I should try that?

In short: is there hope to get my computer working again or just won an expensive paperweight?

    Any help is appreciated.

    See you soon,.

  • Lenovo T530 "Fan Error".

2 days ago I started getting the error message "Fan Error" after starting my computer (T530). Before it gives me the message there is a beeping noise hard. I'm going back to school soon and I hope that there is a way to fix it myself without having to buy a new fan. I'm really bad with running on the computers. I am wonderig if I have to clean the dust out of it, or shift the fan or something like that. Hope there is a way to have a quick solution. Thank you all.

You can try to clean the dust out of the vents and the fan blades. You can also try lubrication of the bearings of fan with a very light oil. That could revive the fan enough to stop "Fan Error" messages for a while. It was enough to revive the fan on my T430s a few months ago, when I'm "Fan Errors" on a trip.

However as richk says, you really should get a new fan, especially if the T530 is still under warranty. Your fan is very likely to fail again. So I would say do you now before you go back to school instead of have to do with a date school hanging over your head.

  • T420s does not start. "Fan Error" appears with two beeps

    Lenovo Thinkpad t420s

To the power, it goes to the ThinkVantage screen becomes black with "Fan Error" then stops.

Using the ThinkVantage button has no effect.

Everything was working fine a few hours ago, but now it seems that the main CPU (left rear) fan is no longer running.

Is it watered or could there be a way to solve this problem?

When the fan error fires always your fan or the motherboard is at fault and would require repairs under warranty.

  • ThinkPad w540 Fan Error

    Uugh.

My laptop worked very well but then 5 minutes later, after I'm done, I realized that I forgot something, so I started it back up again that after the Lenovo logo screen, I get a fan error message and the portable computer shuts down. Now, I can't get into my computer at all.
It is a fairly new laptop. I don't got it from the back in July so all my warrenties are still valid.

I can do or do I have to send it back... again.

    Thank you

    Hi Koager,

    Welcome to Lenovo Community!

According to the request, we understand that you are facing problems with the fan system error on your ThinkPad W540.

Can you feel the fan of the laptop runs at the lower part of the system? If it is not running then you should get it checked with our only service centre, since it is a hardware problem.

    I hope this helps.

  • Envy 17 Fan error at startup

    Hello

I have a problem with my 2 month old HP envy 17 1011NR.

When I started tomorrow, I was a little surprised to see this error message:

Your computer cannot start Fan error. (Fan won't start).

    90 b error code

    Can someone help me?

This error indicates that you have a problem with the system fan (which is not running or runs slower than the speed needed)... I suggest making a supply line by removing the battery, unplug AC adpt n If possible RTC battery and see if the system allows you to start in the OS... If so, update the BIOS and check, if it does not solve the problem, you will need to contact HP technical support to have the fan replaced.

  • T61 pulsing fan and "Fan Error" sometimes at startup

I have a T61 (7661 - 12G) which is a few years old now. I do not buy it again.

Recently, the fan started pulses at 1-2 second intervals from time to time a little. Also several times starting it is showing "fan error" and close immediately.

I did the usual thing (air duster, take it to bits and clean it properly), but this makes no difference.

I did some research and it seems to be a good idea to replace the fan and re-apply new thermal paste to the CPU.

This sounds like a reasonable approach, or are there other causes of this problem?

If it is not overheating then the heater works properly, so a fan is all you need. It in, I would replace the thermal compound with Arctic Silver, it's much better then the dough of the plant which tends to dry out and crumble after a few years.

  • Start a fan error/push F2

HP Pavilion a6257c upgrade to Windows 7 32 bit

On starting getting a fan error/push F2, but all fans are working properly. No fan on reboot error. There is no builduip of dust that unity is regularly cleaned with dry compressed air. All the fans, power supply, lower the exhaust wardrobe and own processor/Chip and operating fan.

This normally occurs when the fan runs slower the system expects. You can try putting a drop of oil on the bearings and works the oil of the propeller with the compressed air. This must lubricate the bearings and enable them to move freely. If this does not work, you may need to replace the fan.

  • T40 fan error

I have a T40 Type 2373 and when I turn it on, it reads Fan Error and turns off after a few seconds. I guess I have to buy a new fan, but I don't know which fan to buy. A replacement parts site says that he wears a LONG FAN and FAN SHORT for the T40. Is there a difference between the two? Which should I buy?

    Welcome to the forum!

Either will work in a T40, but I'd go with long fan, because it offers the best cooling. Your 'stock' fan is a fan of short.

    I hope this helps.
