Fan/Heatsink Assembly thermal Ribbon

Hi, I received my fan and heatsink of heat today and inside he received instructions for the application of thermal paste with a syringe which is included in the box. As well as alcahol wipes.

I don't have a syringe to dough, or wipes. Instead I got what looks like heat, already glued Ribbon on my radiators, what do I do with this, or did HP just send me the wrong compound?

Thank you, Tim.

This is the factory applied thermal paste. I think they use a machine to do it. The compound is sticky but is not intended to serve as a glue if that's what you mean. It transfers heat effectively. You see the same type of geometric dab of thermal paste on the standard fan/radiator units equipped with processors in a box. It is intended for one time use. When I was building platforms high performance, that I used to wipe this kind of things off and apply my own money, Arctic, but on a laptop that is not necessary. You could not apply a more perfect amount of cooling made up if you tried. Yet once, in the days when I was building high performance machines, I used 'lap' surfaces from the top of the heart of processor or the cover and the bottom of the radiator using ultrafine or even automobile Emery cloth, Polish, then clean with alcohol and then apply thermal paste. Smooth the surface the better cooling. The surfaces on the fan and the heatsink are smooth already, but you can clean the top of the core processor well with just a little alcohol to remove residues. Then, mount the fan/radiator. Attention with the torque on the screws. Good luck.

  • Pavilion dv7t 6100 - LM726AV: replacement of heat-sink/fan using the thermal pads and thermal paste/paste

    Hello

The fan on my laptop died so I am trying to replace the fan and the heatsink unit. The manual that I use specifies that thermal grease should be used on the cpu and heat pads must be used on the graphics processor and the capacitors.

The arrival of the new fan it came with heat pads on all relevant areas of the sink as a tube of thermal grease. When I removed the old fan, thermal pads have proved only on the capacitors and the components around the GPU and that thermal grease was used on the CPU and the GPU.

My question is: how this part must be installed? Should I remove the fron pads thermal heat sink that covers the processor cpu and graphics and do not use the thermal grease in these areas? Or the thermal grease can be used here and let the thermal pads on the heat sink?

Thanks for your help - thank you for the advice/opinions in this case.

You can remove the protections and pass with the dough so but only f, you are sure that the metal on the core processor and graphic is in solid contact. And there, I meant it touches and also has a lower compression. For me, the thermal paste is superior coolant and should be used on really hot spots. However, if the metal is not full, solid contact you run the risk of overheating.

    Hello

You can use any fan that will fit the heatsink. Make sure that it cools pretty processors AMD warms up more those Intel a good cooling is necessary. You could also buy a full set with a heat sink which suits your FM2 socket like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-120mm/dp/B0068OI7T8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384032717&sr=8-1&keywords=hyper+212+cpu+cooler

  • Fan Heatsink of heat/cooling A25-S307 problem

I have this model A25-S307 for more than 2 years recently I started noticing that my laptop will heat up soon. Although the cooling fan starts, it doesn't do any good. And sometimes even if it's very hot, cooling fan not kick.

Any suggestions on how this can be corrected.

    Thank you
    BKM

    Hello

Yes, you are right, you have a heating problem.

As a first step, you can try to de - and reinstall the Toshiba Power Saver and sett it by default (the energy saver manages the FAN speed!). Then you can check your BIOS settings. Also the default Sett! After that, you should observe that the FAN in the laptop is running. If this does not resolve the problem in my opinion some hardware may be the fan is damaged!

The best way to avoid damage to the CPU is to contact a Toshiba Service partner.

As far as I knoe the A25 is an American model, so I have to go to
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/Su/su_sc_home.jsp
    and click on repair center.

If you live in Europe, go to http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com - Support & downloads - find an authorized Service partner

  • Can I change Fan/Heatsink unit?

    Hallo,

I have a R40 2682KCU which is about 5 years old and he began to make occasional horrible noises, which I am sure is that fan because it seems to run more hot than usual. The fan still works and the vents are clear and wonder if I can replace the radiator fan or must it be done by Lenovo or authorized service center.

Thanks a lot for any advice,

  • The noise of the fan DV6936us & Design

The fan on my old DV6936us of 9 months from making a racket and vibrations that could be felt through an office. Initially tapping the fan installed zone it down but in the end nothing done and noise can be heard by a Chamber now. Finally, I downloaded maintenance manual and took the machine hand following the path of the Fan/Heatsink Assembly (what a PITA!). I didn't remove the radiator together (do not have time yesterday) but was able to remove all but one of the small screws holding on the fan cover and clear it up - not quite enough to remove the blades, but enough to eliminate rabbits of dense dust that had grown inside the fan cover. After reassembling, everything still works and the fan is relatively quiet again (without noise or vibration).

I know this is a "consumption" of quality machines, but I had other laptops in the same circles without their fans for years is polluted by dust so bad. Is this due to poor design or is it just that this machine works more hot that older fan should run more? How many times should I rinse the fan with compressed air?

    @ Gary_R

You can also check your time with Everest or HWMonitor. If you want to be then time are low.

You can try compressed air as it and clean all the vents with her. Laptop must be powered off and without battery pluged in there.

This will give you a method without disassembling your model.

Full clean is recommended once a year with putting new thermal material on components.

  • Fan cooling 90 b on Windows 7 Pavilion dv6-3225dx error

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx, winddws 7 64 bit laptop for over a year and I started to receive a black screen at startup which said cooling fan error 90 b problem.

The problem started when I was still at school and I had to watch this long movie for an assignment.

The error would only be the beginning on all 2-3 weeks or so, one or two times, and especially when I turn it night and turn it on again 12 hours the next day later. I tried to update the BIOs from HP support assistant menu, but twice the update failed once it restarts after a update.

When the laptop starts it starts smoothly without problem, and the fan does not strong when the error screen appears.

A friend told me it might be dusty inside the fan or the fan needs to be replaced. But I thought I'd ask around on the forum to see if anyone has a solution (maybe something is not installed?)

the BIO system version is F.29

    Thank you!

    Hello:

    Your friend is correct.

I would try cleaning first cooling system since it is the best thing to do.

Unplug the computer and remove the battery.

Get a can of compressed air at your local office supply store.

Put a toothpick in the air intake fan and place it between two of the fan so the fan blades don't pinwheel when you spray compressed air, as setting the fan will ruin the bearings.

Spray the air in two ways - through the socket of the fan and the exhaust fan vents. Do a couple of times until you see no more than dust coming out ducts.

Failure to remedy the problem then maybe the fan/radiator Assembly will be replaced.

Looking at the specifications of product for your laptop, it seems that the Fan/Heatsink Assembly you need is

    603690 001.

Consult the service manual, Chapter 3, page 21 for more information and Chapter 4 for the procedures for removal and replacement.

  • HP DV7-4020sa fan - cleaned noise and still make the noise

    Hello.

I need help with my laptop. It is a DV7-4020sa.

Since I bought the laptop (used) the fan made a horrible squeaky sound. I decided to fix it today so dissambled laptop computer and gave the fan a good clean and also put some wd40 on the axis of the fan.

Unfortunately, after reassembling, the fan still makes noise. It's strange because if I pull the screen/lid slightly towards me, it stops the noise, and also if I apply pressure to the lower part on the base where the fan is located.

Should I buy a new/submitted fan new to replace it, or is there a fix I can apply?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

More than likely, the bearings of the fan are in ruins, and the only solution would be to replace the Fan/Heatsink combo.  The fan is not sold separately.

Your model equipped with a discrete video adapter according to the product specification, so you should be the Fan/Heatsink Assembly which, according to the maintenance manual, includes hardware replacement, intended only to computer models with graphical subsystems with discrete memory.  Part # 606575-001 HP.

It's quite expensive at $84.28, but I do not buy a used assembly (if you could find another one) and eventually encounter the same problem on the line.

    http://h20141.www2.HP.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=00CD1EC2A53945949E211F17A82B64FC&SearchIn=PartNumber&SearchPN=606575-001

Sometimes this happens because users simply spray a jet of compressed air into the fan intake and exhaust air vent covers, which is perfectly OK, as long as you place a PIN or something that can get through the protection grid, between two of the fan blades to prevent it from turning.

It is not a contest to see how fast or strong you can do this fan to lament when cleaning, because that's how the bearings get ruined.  They are delicate and only designed to handle a certain RPM range.

One can only imagine how far beyond this tolerance range fan bearings can go, when they are subjected to a jet of compressed air of a jet!

    Hello dell.

I wonder how many people got prob with studio dell 1558, just google and found most of them (all) having prolem with the dell studio 1558 fan noise.

    What happens in my case:

The fan noise was ok before a few weeks ago, and he started 2-3 weeks back. aaftre fans of 20-30 sec noise suddenly and during idle sound Inc. is not normal/quiet a bit different than usual.

The fan noise is really annoying and it constantly happens not even a minute, it stops.

So in my case I think that it may be hardware fan prob because I wasn't this prob when I bought this system may be fan is going to jam in a near future?

    It's my system config:

Good day and welcome to the community.

Thermal compound is exclusively intended to be applied to the top of core chip die (the red area shown in your picture) and my experience only on the processor. The other "chips" under the Fan/Heatsink Assembly had regularly thermal pads for the contact. This was the case when I replaced the fan/radiator on my X200T. However, I've heard of some people using compounds there, but I don't know how well it fills the gap. Ideally, you want very thin, very even coverage on top of core chip die.

    Kind regards.
