  • Equium P200-1ED - fan made considerable noise

I've had the laptop about 17 months without any problem, but last week noted that, according to me, the fan was very loud - as if the bearings have gone or the fan has been damaged and is now cut something? A bit like a car - I know that the noise was not therebefore and this worries me.

This noise is intermittent, most often at startup and much less frequent when the laptop is in mode (what makes me confident that it is the fan?) energy saving.

Is this a common fault? Should I worry too - i. e. can ignore it leads to something more serious? And how to solve?

The fan appears to be completely clear and vents are clear, as far as I can tell, but I did not disassemble the laptop. If it is the bearings, one might suspect that it is a known problem?

    Hello

I think that it s not easy then say which is the reason why, for this, but in my opinion something is blocking the fan.

In your case, I will try to clean the laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans. You can buy in a store of the local computer and it of easy to use because, so you don't have to disassemble the laptop.
    It s worth a try! ;)

I doubt that it is a common fault. In the forum I can find t may discussions about this.

  • omen of HP: rattling sound of the fan

    Hi all

I bought my Hp Omen in December and were treated like gold since, but whenever my is is on a flat surface the infallibly good fan made a rattling noise that only becomes stronger when I have the game. I have updated the bios and try to keep my software constantly updated, and none of this has anything fixed.

I havn't cleaned the fans, because I don't know how to on this laptop and two, because I don't think I'd need 5 months, but I'm not an expert and I'm wrong.

It's really very annoying and I want to get this resolved as soon as possible. So if anyone has any advice, please let me know.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Cleaning is not necessary short time unless you use it in a sawmill. Unfortunately, a rattling fan needs to be replaced. The unit should still be under warranty, so I recommend you call HP service under warranty on it.

  • Satellite A500-17 x - fan doesn't seem to work when you play

OK... I have some post mainly about performance drop and overheating so lets keep this simple.

    Here are my problems:

    1. I updated my graphics driver but it has little or no effect on the high temperature

    2. I noticed that whenever I play games (the dawn of war 2, dragon age origin) the fan made little or no sounds, and only hot air comes out

    3. no fan noises--> does not overheat---> shut down

    4. the only time I hear the fan screams hard is when I restart the laptop

    5. I don't know about you guys, but I start having probs since the update of the bios (my insticts told me that I should not have the update, but I did anyway)

    6. If it is a bios problem (which I'm sure it is) can someone send bios 1.30 for me? I called and email my PSA (PC World, UK) and they told me to get it from toshiba which I don't know how to contact them. (my email is [email protected])

    Hi mate,

You ask first: are you running factory settings and display driver are you using? I also noticed a problem of overheating with non-Toshiba display so drivers since their I choose only the drivers of Toshiba.
    Check this box!

I m wondering a bit about your statement of your ASP normally you can get the BIOS directly from them. Was it an official Toshiba authorized service provider?
On the Toshiba site, you can find a list of them and these guys here, you can also get older versions of BIOS

  • New laptop Satellite C50-A-1CK Fan make a static/crackling sound?

I recently introduced a new laptop Satellite C50-A-1CK the December 8,.

    I didn't use the phone a lot.
I noticed in the last days the fan made a static/crackling sound power, seems to come from the fan (on the upper right corner) when it turns.

    Is this normal?
I think back to the retailer and asking for Exchange?

Just for looking for some advice, much appreciated!

    Thank you.

    > Is this normal?

No, this isn't a common behavior of laptop and I don t think that the sound or noise is normal.

    > I think back to the retailer and asking for Exchange?

In my opinion it s certainly a good idea to check another unit and compare appearances of noise

  • Satellite P500-1DZ - need new fan coling

    Hi all.

I bought satellite P500-1DZ - Model - Toshiba PSPGSE in July of last year. The first 2 months were great. Since then, my fan made stronger and stronger noises. It's to the point now where just create a Web site on wix, or using any piece of software that uses the power of remote processing, the computer begins to slow down. It's like im working on a pc from the stone age. To make things worse, I bought the product in England and now live in Poland.

I don't think I can use my warranty, simply because I can't afford to be without my computer for 2 months, while he was expelled for repair. So I opted to buy a new fan and get this replaced myself. However... There is no information anywhere regarding
    (a) what fan (s), I need to buy.
    (b) where to buy them.

Toshiba... could you please write me to my e-mail and explain a) your return policy for fixing through the manufacturer's warranty for people who have moved to a new country. and (b) tell me where I can buy replacement fan (s) and I would like to address this issue through your warranty or my own merit.

    I want my computer ultra-fast return :(

    Hey,.

    > I bought the product in England and now live in Poland.
This should t be a problem because you bought a European model for laptop in Europe and now you are still living in Europe. This would mean that you can contact the local authorized maintainer in Poland and seek redress. I m that guys can fix your laptop because an ASP can control all parts of Toshiba.

Of course, you can try to fix this problem yourself but you need to know what you're doing because laptop disassembly is delicate and many parts must be removed.
If you want to continue to do, get also in touch with an authorized service provider because they can order spares from Toshiba.

Here is a list of the aspic:

  • Satellite M70 - cooling fan does not start

    Hello.

I recently got a little work Satellite M70 - CL1 to a friend. Everything works, but the cooling system is malfunctioning. Fan made ramp-up at the start, but then it does nothing. I tried the XP system installed inside, and ubuntu 10.10 does not seem that the fan is running. My friend said the fan strikes, but at the moment he does, too little too late and the system freezes due to overheating. He managed to stay alive for 20 minutes on his own cooling power.

Any suggestions on what's wrong? Maybe it's the temperature probe that is defective?

    Hey,.

Of course, it's not always easy to tell what the exact reason is on this virtual path but probably dust blocks the cooling fans and so it may start t and the laptop is overheating.

Clean the fan and the heat sink is not very complicated, because you can use the jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. Everything is described in this very useful Toshiba article on cleaning of your laptop:

  • Satellite L650-1GF - cooling fan runs every 3 minutes

Last week, I bought a Satellite L650-1GF. Everything is fine except the noise from the cooling fan. Especially because it works almost every minute to cool the carrots. There is an annoying sound hum which takes about 10 seconds and is repeated every 3 minutes approximately.

I checked with "Speedfan". The temperature of the hearts is fluctuating between 32 and 37 C. And at about 37 ° C, the fan speed to cool the computer.

    Two questions:
1 is this normal that the cooling fan starts cooling to 37 ° c.
    2. is the annoying noise of the fan normal for this model of Toshiba?

And what is acceptable, can I find examples to compare with what I feel here somewhere? I saw a lot of cell phones so far, but none of the cooling fans made a buzzing sound like this.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A80-138 fan noise

Last month, I bought the Toshiba Satellite A80-138 and I am shocked at the noise of the fan made!
He turns 2 times a minute and starts to blow at least 20 seconds.
The only programs that are running are msn messenger and IE.
I removed all the background processes that are not needed. I tried to change all of the possible settings, but nothing helped. One thing will not change even pointing to the bottom of the CPU at 800 Mhz.
The fan is driving me crazy, please help!

    Hi Norbert,.

Unfortunately, your description of your laptop fan sounds not in the least unusual. My Satellite A30 will have his fan runs most of the time, with a speed of fan significantly more when I run that all graphics type games or utilities. This includes browsing the web and email general work.

Your laptop is a compact device with a large number of components packed into a small space therefore tends to need a lot of cooling.

You might see that you do not have an accumulation of lint and dust in the heatsink by the suction air grids and also ensure that there is a good air space around the laptop (including below) at any time.

  • Smart Z580 Fan Noise Control - I found the button, but how does it work?

I just bought a Z580 with Windows 8. It has a Smart Fan Noise Control sticker. My understanding is that it can be used to control the fan speed. How? I don't find it in the manual. The button is the right most of five white labels under the badge of lenovo under the screen. Then, the fan (not really a button) button is one that looks like a sign with a quarter moon on the right. If I press on it, it does the cleaning thing fan but how do I speed?

I would try to change the speed of the fan because my fan made a very slight sound pulse. Otherwise I love this computer. It has so many interesting features and works well.

I think that you must install the version of Win7 power management software, as I think the Win8 version has only the option "dusting", when the Win7 version has 'standard', 'silent' and 'effective heat dissipation", also the"dusting"option by pressing the sensitive, stars and moon symbol.

Make a system restore point before changing anything.

  • e7240 CONSTANT NOISE OF FAN NOISY / FAN RUNNING ALL THE TIME

We received 2 nine E7240s directly from Dell, one for me and one for my colleague. As soon as I turned it on to build for my colleague, I noticed that the machine was overheating and the fan made a noise. Dell offers an upgrade of the BIOS that has not changed anything. They then changed the radiator, even once, that does not change and since then, they have changed the motherboard. My colleague went on vacation, so I don't know if the problem has been resolved, however, my laptop day you do not overheat (also of course as it has done for my colleague) BUT THE FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME. So much so that I think that the person in the room upstairs is using his hairdryer. Dell has replaced the heatsink of heat and the motherboard yesterday, I did the same update of the BIOS and the problem is even worse. As soon as I turn the thing, the fan runs all the time making a big noise. My predecessor was the E6500 and I was not bothered by noises, he did.

The 7240 made so much noise that I want to throw it out the window , seriously, I go back to my old 5 years e6500, which is now very slow, I can not just take constant hair dryer of the fan noise! I'm waiting for Dell back to me, but I don't see what else they can do.

I suspect a problem of design with newer models, someone with a laptop computer Latitude 13 also mentioned it on the Forum, someone else with an e7240 also said "I noticed the fan turns most of the time - it's quiet, but you don't know is spinning."  I just implemented, so the CPU is busy enough. "A person with the e6320 says"and the fan is noisy and turns far too often.

I just bought a new Dell Latitude E7240 with Windows 7 laptop and had the same problem with overheating and the fan is running loudly all the time. I just fixed it on my laptop, it may not work for everyone but just in case I walked it here.

The index for me was that the question has happened at home, not at work.

    • Using the Task Manager, I found that a "svchost.exe" process was always running at 25% of the CPU, i.e. to take 100% of one of the 4 hearts. For this you need view all processes, and that's why you need a local administrator account if she asks permission.
    • With right click on this process-online 'Go to services', you can study what services are hosted by this instance of svchost.
    • For each of these services, try to stop one at a time (if it helps) and see if the CPU usage goes down. For me, a clue was a service stuck on 'Stop' but never stopped.
    • The service which for me was the "HomeGroup provider." That's why the issue has happened at home and at work. The laptop had spotted my homegroup on my home network, but had not been able to accede. Maybe a problem with IPv6 that I could not turn on my desk.
    • In the Services tab in Task Manager, get on the service properties, which set to Disabled Startup Type.
    • Restart the laptop, to ensure that the service is stopped.

That did the trick for me, and now the CPU remains less than 5% when idle. This isn't the problem that the fan is noisy when the CPU usage is high, but for me what rarely happens now.

If you want to access files and printers on your home network without the homegroup feature, you can still do that the old way:

    • Network and sharing Center-Online avancΘs => Homegroup Connection-online 'use user accounts to connect to other computers.
    • Also in the settings advanced: enable discovery network. and Turn on File and Printer Sharing.
    • Then, you can click on your wifi network => add a printer.
    • If your office does not appear, click on "Not listed", then browse. As long as the network discovery and printer sharing are enabled, desktop PC should appear and you can connect using your local Windows user name and password.

    Hope this helps someone.

  • HP DV7-4020sa fan - cleaned noise and still make the noise

    Hello.

I need help with my laptop. It is a DV7-4020sa.

Since I bought the laptop (used) the fan made a horrible squeaky sound. I decided to fix it today so dissambled laptop computer and gave the fan a good clean and also put some wd40 on the axis of the fan.

Unfortunately, after reassembling, the fan still makes noise. It's strange because if I pull the screen/lid slightly towards me, it stops the noise, and also if I apply pressure to the lower part on the base where the fan is located.

Should I buy a new/submitted fan new to replace it, or is there a fix I can apply?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

More than likely, the bearings of the fan are in ruins, and the only solution would be to replace the Fan/Heatsink combo.  The fan is not sold separately.

Your model equipped with a discrete video adapter according to the product specification, so you should be the Fan/Heatsink Assembly which, according to the maintenance manual, includes hardware replacement, intended only to computer models with graphical subsystems with discrete memory.  Part # 606575-001 HP.

It's quite expensive at $84.28, but I do not buy a used assembly (if you could find another one) and eventually encounter the same problem on the line.

    http://h20141.www2.HP.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=00CD1EC2A53945949E211F17A82B64FC&SearchIn=PartNumber&SearchPN=606575-001

Sometimes this happens because users simply spray a jet of compressed air into the fan intake and exhaust air vent covers, which is perfectly OK, as long as you place a PIN or something that can get through the protection grid, between two of the fan blades to prevent it from turning.

It is not a contest to see how fast or strong you can do this fan to lament when cleaning, because that's how the bearings get ruined.  They are delicate and only designed to handle a certain RPM range.

One can only imagine how far beyond this tolerance range fan bearings can go, when they are subjected to a jet of compressed air of a jet!
