Fault of intermittent power on booklet CT100

Hi all

Thanks to previous posts here, I managed to find the problem of error 52 h (B5V voltage under limit at startup) which is great, but now what?

It happened three times so far. Various combinations of power, battery and dock power has no effect, but open the case and look for obvious problems seems set for awhile (I had mold inside a 70CT that caused all kinds of weird memory errors!) so I wonder if the RTC battery causes something to reset.
I guess that the fix suggested replacing the motherboard isn't really going to be an option on a venerable old machine like that.

I didn't assume that Toshiba plan bring no booklet model more in the United Kingdom any time soon either? I got three so far and more like them.

Hello

Thanks for your comment. I na? t know if change of motherboard is bad idea, but you can try it. Is important that the unit is working properly for you and the replacement of equipment (if will solve the problem) is good, but sometimes costly.

I think Toshiba will bring new models of booklet on the British market. Have you seen the new U100? What you think of it?

    PP11,

You said "did not know that there is more pins into the connector on the motherboard than the P1 cable connector" means you have a motherboard socket 24 pins and pin 20 PSU, correct?

It is indexed. Pin 1 on the cable might not fit into the motherboard 3-pin. You have probably not noticed the small tab on the socket on the motherboard. She snaps with the clamp on the POWER cable. Funny how you pulled it off without noticing the release tab. Seehere for pictures of the connectors and locks, alignments. It will show all variations of 24pin and 20-pin PSU with motherboards pin 24 and 20.

  • Power XDVD intermittent satellite 4090 problems

I just purchase a Toshiba Satellite 4090XDVD and find an intermittent power on the problem.
Use adapter + battery (partly charged) the first power to the ends in 2 seconds - no Toshiba logo/message on screen, no disk activity after his initial whining for 1-2 seconds. Power on and then turn on again everything happens normally.

System looks good - no boot errors or messages and the date and time are not correct - so no indication of a problem of cmos.
Sometimes I have to market twice as much power. After the system powers on normally, it will continue to do so-if I leave for a few hours or a day, the problem reoccur. Using the AC adapter and remove the battery, ignition problem is worse - a 4-5 power downs / restarts before it starts.
When the problem occurs, the LCD screen is blank - no logo Toshiba etc and I heard 1-2 seconds of activity - shrill drive etc - then nothing.

The AC and LED right next to her are on.
No other LEDS are on (unless the battery installed and get orange solid leads) sometimes turn off refuses and I hear 1 long beep followed by 29 short beeps.
Yet, once it powers up that will continue to power upward normally until I have let rest for a while.

My documentation shows two batteries on a board inside - cmos and RTC I believe - but I hesitate to dismantle the pc and replace because I see not all the symptoms that they are the problem (no error cmos, no problem of time).

I know that its an old PC, but I just use it as a second computer for small jobs and it is awesome. Anyone had a similar experience or ideas? Your comments will be appreciated!

    Hello

In my view humble and honest, this looks like a motherboard problem.
I think that no one would be able to tell what part on the motherboard could be affected, but what you could do is check RAM.

In many cases the failure of RAM can cause issues too
Check the RAM may be worth a try

So as you can see, a lot of suggestions, but that's all

  • ss3320f intermittently does not illuminate

My computer is about 6 years old and for the 6 months has been intermittent to power on. When she turned, it works fine; but intermittently, when I push the power button, nothing happens. I get a green light continuous on the power inside the back cover, but nothing else. After 10 cycles of disconnect and reconnect power, it lights up without any problem. I am running Vista with SP2 and the only material that I added a new videocard (PNY GeForce 210). Any ideas on what is causing my problem of market? The only thing I can think is an intermittent power problem. If the video card is casuing the question? Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello again all,

Thank you for the updated information. So I took a quick glance to the graphics card, you have published and noticed that there was a requirement of minimum 300 Watt power supply. Then, I took a look at the HP Pavilion Slimline s3320f Desktop product specifications page and noticed that your computer is equipped with a power of 160 watts supplly. When you installed the new graphics card you upgrade your 300-400watts power supply? If not, this could be your problem your diet doesn't have the conditions necessary for your system properly.

If you have replaced the power supply the appropriate required so please re-post and I'll continue to guide what I can. Thanks for posting again on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • HP Envy 700-214: Message "locking of the power button.

I am getting an intermittent box appears which says "Power Button lockout".

Tour: HP Envy 700-214 with two display monitors

    Monitor 1: HP 2010 (DVI)

    Monitor 2: HP L1950g (VGA)

    Windows 8.1

Periodically this box appears on the monitor 1. Sometimes the monitor turns off. When I turn it back on, I'll get a surveillance area of the State, which opens by saying:

    DVI: assets

    VGA: No Signal

    1600 x 900 60 hz

Which is curious since the monitor that is upward is the DVI monitor. However, this box disappears after a few seconds.

Is the problem with my video card in the computer, or is it with the monitor?

[ETA] I stopped and restarted the computer and the monitor and held the key monitor more than 10 seconds, as suggested in other posts found here on this site. [/ETA]

Thank you very much. Please let me know if you need more information.

  • No power on my Satellite A100-756

Not sure if anyone can offer advice on this one. Basically, I bought a laptop from a person who I work with my son as a Christmas gift. Paid £400 for she told me was reasonably fair at the time, it was 14mths old.

Since yesterday, it is apparently dead. When it is connected to the power supply there are no lights, nothing. The power cable is hot, so I assume that part is ok. When I move the cord around there is no intermittent power that goes through, so I think that the power supply is ok so that leaves me with the motherboard.

I read on some sites that it can be quite expensive to repair, some companies offer to change the motherboard together, while others will be committed to repairing the defective chips. Don't know whether to send to someone or taking it down to a computer local workshop (I n t want to be ripped off more that I already have) repair!

If someone else has had a similar problem, or can anyone recommend a repair business good to use.

    Hello

It doesn't sound good. As you suggest, there would be a problem with the motherboard of notebooks.
As you have probably known, the motherboard is one of the expansive parts laptop and replacement is not a good case walked.

I assume that it could cost about 350-400 Euros! :(

If you wish, you can call the service provider authorized in your country.
Guys could provide details on the costs of repair and the repair time.

  • Satellite L655 - 1EW don't start - no battery charge

    Hello

    I need help.
    My laptop doesn't work anymore.
When I press the power button, the orange light blinks slowly.
The main power turn on no light is on (power led), do not charge the battery!

I have check the external power supply, it's ok (19V is here).

You may think that the battery can be fault or the power supply on the motherboard?

The L655 - 1EW may start without taking the battery inside the computer?

    Thanks for your help.

    Concerning

    > Can you think that the battery can be fault or the power supply on the motherboard?

Battery cannot be the problem here, because the laptop turns on with the adapter only.
You said also that your verified the external power supply and it seems to be ok, since it provides 19V.

So I only see an option here: its motherboard related issue.

PS: you can also remove the RAM modules and could test the unit with the new RAM

  • Fan is a failure on the 6th generation airport base

Recently the fan on my airport began to howl and grinding. It is more under warranty, but I am pretty sure that I can replace it if I had a replacement part number. Google was not helpful. Any suggestions?

The fan has a common point of failure on this model?

Unfortunately, Apple considers that AirPort Extreme waterproof a device, and as such, they do not spare parts for the product.

You will have to possibly remove the old fan and see if it might be an original manufacturer and number on the piece itself that you could use to find a suitable replacement. The airport I took out some used time ago a fan of Delta. See step 12 in the article below.

We do not see very many reports of noisy fans... the usual problem is an intermittent power supply.

You need to be extremely careful when you open the AirPort Extreme that there are a number of connectors that can be easily broken.

This article should provide assistance and advice:

  • X 61 failure after cleaning the fan

I just bought a X 61 on ebay and installed Linux Mint, VirtualBox and Win8.1 Preview.

Everything was fine, except that the heat was worried. The fan was going on, but no air seemed to go out, so I followed the service manual and dismantled the entire machine. The area between the fan and the heat sink fins were completely clogged with oily dust and felt, so I have cleaned everything, lubricated the fan and re-assembled the machine.

Now it will not turn on. No lights, nothing. I checked all internal connectors and they all seem fine. I've done this kind of thing often in the past, but not in a X 61.

The only problem I encountered was that the keyboard bezel has been glued to the low case near the hinge of the LH and lever the sticks out, I had to break off a small piece of the bezel at the back, and I've come back with a rear a little loose on the bezel.

So, my question is if there is some sort of small switch in the video cable from the screen, and it has to be precisely positioned wrt the bezel? Also, if I try to paste on the rear window, would be epoxy work with plastic on the bezel, or is there a glue better?

    Thanks for any help.

It is now in place and running 64-bit Linux Mint and the W8.1 virtual machine, although this is not a long term installation, unless I have increase the memory.

The difference in temperature of the tower is amazing, while the fan is doing its job. An additional error was with the keyboard: this is 2 of my 3 machines with an intermittent power switch. Fortunately, the other is a Tablet, so there is a second switch. Lid switch works, but I don't really understand how, and I have not yet tried epoxy on the bezel.

    Life is good again.

  • TouchSmart 610: PC off completely unexpected

    Hi all

I hope you can help, I spent hours scouring the forums to find answers. I have a friends computer I tried to fix, are rarely a problem that I can't, but this one left me speechless.

From what I can tell, it was a common fault with the power brick and the system completely shut down for what seems like no reason. So I replaced the power brick, still the same issue.

I checked the ram, I used memtest 86... the computer crashed almost instantly so perhaps I thought that the ram was also an issue. I replaced the ram with ram I know works, but it is still completely off.

I did a full scan of the hard drive and can't find bad sectors or errors.

the problem first started happening with win7 home (what it came with), I replaced it with win7 Ultimate (new installation). so it is definitely not the operating system.

It drives me completely crazy, it seems there is no other thread I can find where the problem got to this level with this model.

    Help, please.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please come back to me, I wanted to test my theory a few days before I posted. I eventually found the problem it seems that nobody else has. With the HP touchsmart 610, it appears with the power brick and the common memory issues it seems to be another HUGE problem I suspect will be a normal thing in the factory. I tried as you know and he had baffled me but I was convinced that it should be a matter of hearing.

I found the solution... At least that worked for me. It turns out that it was not any thermal past between the cpu and the heatsink... NO WHAT SO EVER. I put on a past thermal and two days non stop with on a stop down. So the problem is solved. Thank you for your help.

  • T510i screen suddenly darkens & increases the gamma

From time to time, the screen suddenly fades, and the gamma increases.

This has nothing to do with the brightness settings, since they remain the same (and indeed, increase the brightness still works, but the brightness (maximum) overal remains lowered).

I think that this only happens when you run out of battery, so it might be a power issue.

I have this problem since the beginning (about three months).

But this week, the battery also does not. Maybe there's a fault in the power supply?

Someone has encountered this problem before?
