faulty graphics card may adversely affect startup iMac?
Hello
My iMac 24 "2008 beginning, which I've recently equipped with an SSD (running El Cap) to replace the original HD, is does not start. The boot process gets stuck on the white Apple screen, about a 1/3 to the top of the progress bar. The screen goes black, and then it restarts again a couple of times and finally get the prohibitory sign.
I've tried and failed: recovery mode and safe mode and reinstall the OS from a USB key.
Also tried to open mode target on another computer - but the other computer is even older and running what OS 10.6.8 and which is perhaps the reason why he could not mount the SSD drive.
Finally, I decided to take it to a laboratory. It is a decision that I tried to avoid because that where I live, there are not many Mac users and I never know technicians have enough experience to know what they are doing and I doubt they have the Apple official diagnostic tools.
The technician said that the SSD is very good and the problem is caused by the graphics card. The repair would be costly be useful.
My question is if this diagnosis is logical, since the screen displays the appropriate color and graphics for the various things I've tried (until he got stuck).
Thank you!
The computer has never started since you installed the SSD? You might want to examine your procedures or try to boot from an external drive to test. You can solve the problem yourself by checking the LED diagnostic on the logic board https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+24-Inch+EMC+2134+and+2211+Diagnostic+LED %27s/7443 if LED 3 lights not it is likely that you need a replacement for the GPU.

Satellite Pro P100 - cable had burned down due to a faulty graphics card
Hello
I have a problem with my Satellite Pro P100 where to win t start, including trying to restart without the battery.I took it for repairers who managed to get it working again. They said a cable leading to the screen had to be replaced with requiring a General Service Officer, as it has been clogged up with dust.
However once I got it home it works ok, but when I tried to access the options for Nvidia graphics display an error message came upward, which suggests that I have maybe need to install a driver of cassis, which I did immediately and restart the computer the problem has reappeared, computer wouldn't boot.
I brought for repairs for the second time and they said the cable had burned down again because of a faulty graphics card and would cost a lot to replace. If someone has had this problem, it is possible to have just the graphics card replaced without replacing the motherboard and it is likely that the motherboard is too damaged.
You will appreciate all the comments/tips
Strange, but I think that there is no other way to replace the motherboard.
The graphic card it s soldered on the motherboard if the entire motherboard must be exchanged.I know that's not good news for you buddy but if the graphics card is faulty, it should be replaced. :(

Help on graphics card memory and upgrade for iMac
Hello!
I need advice on a good new graphics card for iMac 27 inch end 2012. My work is mainly in animation, Visual effects and game development soon, so I need an additional card to increase my speed.
Currently, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB card. Do you think I should stick to a similar card? Is there something new that will offer me better performance at an affordable cost?
I don't have much money to spend, but I can certainly use additional graphics now.
I have also 2 remaining memory locations that accepts DDR3 1600 MHz memory module, but it seems that this module is no longer available. If I had to choose between a graphics card and RAM, which should I go with?
Finally, can I install these myself? I don't have any Apple Store around me and I do not trust the computer guys in my area.
First of all, the iMacs are notoriously difficult to make something with except add RAM. Here is a good site where you can get some info on the dismantling, etc.:
Usually, graphics cards should be replaced with the same model/type of work (if any) - see above site for this kind of info. I'm quite sure that you cannot add just one - iMac is not designed for it.
Regarding the RAM, just check out OWC for necessary RAM:
https://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2012_27/DDR3L
Check that your model is listed. I don't know where you would have been told that the RAM is no longer available (FWIW, Apple does not sell RAM and uses of third party RAM in the new Macs).
I'd go with the RAM - how many do you have now? Adding RAM is easy.

Hello, I have a mid 2010 21.5 (MC508LL/A) imac that has a bad graphics card. I've had this confirmed by an authorized Apple repair shop. I got an estimate of $643,00 for the repair, which I can't do right now. I heard that you can connect a second monitor to the Mac if you want to run two monitors at the same time. My question is, if I can buy the correct cable to connect another monitor and use this monitor as my primary monitor until I can afford the repair, or the graphics card in the Mac should it be good to run the second monitor? I'm not very tech savvy, so I hope that this question seems not too ridiculous!
Thanks in advance for any input.
The graphics card must be in good shape to run an external display. Once you have the repair done, then you can connect an external monitor.

Are my system or RAM faulty graphics card RAM? MacBook Pro crashes several times a day.
Any time I see pictures, usually after several system crashes and restarts automatically. Because that's when I'm viewing images, it leads me to believe the graphics card or RAM is a failure. System is about 6 years old now.
Here are the accident report:

Qosmio F50 - graphics card may not be recognized under 64-bit Windows
I installed the operating system Windows XP 64 on Toshiba Qosmio F50 - 10K. I have a big problem, because Windows XP does not recognize my graphics card (nvidia geforce 9600 m gt).
I tried to install the drivers from the nvidia site, but once this graphics card still has not been recognized.
It causes that, when I try to push and drag a window, I can see how it is re-paint.Could someone help me to solve my problem?
Hello!
I think that the problem cannot be solved. Toshiba doesn't support any laptop computer with Windows XP 64-bit because it is OS was not so popular.
The only way I know is to use drivers from external Web sites and update your BIOS to the latest version. If it doesn't work, you must use another operating system.
I think that the Qosmio F50 is really fast enough for Vista 64-bit. Try it and you will see too much work.
Good bye

A faulty graphics card replace in my HP Pavilion Elite m9361.uk-
I have an HP Pavilion Elite m9361.uk, a old desktop pc, I intend to follow the family. Unfortunately, the graphics card no longer works. I'm looking to replace it with something similar or better if possible and just wondered what my options were. I just want something I can slot without having to upgrade the other material if possible. He was mainly used as a pc game (WOW) and will in the future. The above link shows that it is the current specifications.
Many thanks in advance,
Cadael
Hello
Consult this document publication. Do you have room for a double wide graphics card? If there is a PCI-E card, installed in the location adjacent then can you move on?
Someone earlier posted a similar question and did not upgrade the power supply and, in addition, necessary in a single location graphic card. Hmmmm, I found a solution for this problem, but it was a challenge. You can search the forum and see if you can find the solution.

May adversely affect the values of windows defender with my network access?
Hello
I access the internet via a Wi-Fi provided by the Marina. I always get a warnging go Explorer that this is not a secure connection and he advises me not to continue on the site (connection page). I continue to the website anyway because I want to access the Internet.
Whenever I choose to download an update to windows defender I have problems with my phone network and magicJack. Why? don't advocate network control? How can I get updates without defender ruin my internet access?
To the best of my knowledge, Windows Defender does not monitor or manipulate the network connection. Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]

iMac 27 2010 graphics card / ram problem
Hello - read through the form and try to isolate the problem. A week ago my end 2010 iMac 27 I7, 12 GB of Crucial Ram, OSX Yosemite went screwy - icons went fuzzy, and the system has just stopped responding. I tried not just pull the plug, but the computer was out of order, so I had to pull the plug. Please keep in mind it was a day hot here in New York and I've come for a quick moment to remove some files and did not close the windows a turn on the AC, so they probably overheated system or so I guess
Anyway, after a few hours and I came back home and turned back on the iMac. Immediately, I noticed some pale red bans on the screen. The system has been restarted slowly and then it stop at halfway however and just go to the gray screen. I did a reboot, re-installed the operating system made the system check, but the failure of operating system to kick when I do a normal restart, and I am only able to operate the computer in Mode safe.
Is there a way I can understand if the RAM is the question, the graphics card, or if it's the OS? A faulty graphics card will prevent the system from starting normally? I have the same question when I open it on safe mode?
I'm trying to see if there is a way to save the iMac and get more use out of it, but at the same time a few years if it's gong to fix an expensive that I can't do on my own, so maybe its not worth what's now 5-6yrld of fixing iMac little matter how the computer cost me back in 2010.
Thanks for your help and sorry if this question has been answered countless times before.
JB
Most likely graphics card problem...
Note:
One way to test is to boot from the HD, (now shift key at startup), run utility disk in Applications > utilities, then highlight your reader, click on repair permissions, test for problem in Mode safe...
PS. secure boot can remain on the gray radian for a long time, let go, he's trying to repair the hard drive & trash/rebuild the cache files
Reboot, try again.
If it does so only in ordinary chest, there could be a problem material such as Video card, (the Quartz is disabled in Safe Mode), or airport, some USB or Firewire devices, or the module in part 3, Check System Preferences > accounts (users and groups in later versions of OS x) > login items window to see if she or something relevant is listed. Or a stray process eating RAM.

is it possible to replace a defective graphics on a 2012 end iMac 21.5 inches?
While I don't see a reference to a spare part for the model
in a guide iFixit for the repair of this model, it may be that an expert could
fix the element even though it may probably be placed on the logic board.
This unit is considered difficult to repair, with a capacity of 10' 3.

Satellite P100-240: is it possible to replace the graphics card
Okay, im fairly new to laptops, I had my P100-240 for just under a year.
I set up with it for long enough, its been really good to me.
The problem that has really started to check me is the graphics card, Nvidia Go 7600, it slow, Nvidia do not support updated drivers (laim).A lot of my games have problems with this graphics card.
I'm looking at open aperture of my little baby and I hope just place in a compatible graphics card.I'm looking to replace the Go 7600 with an alternative of ATI, a list of possible cards that will fit, where I can get my hands on one of these maps and prices if possible fuck. I won't pay too much money if it's not going to be worth.
Thanks for reading, hope to get answers soon.
Hello
Replacing a graphics card on laptops is not possible because it is part of the motherboard. For example: by faulty graphics card, the entire motherboard must be exchanged.
Sorry but there is nothing to do.

Graphics card on Satellite M40-197 (PSM40E) does not work properly
I have a portable Satellite M40-197 (PSM40E) with ATI Radeon X 300 graphics display.
The problem I have is when the laptop is turned on, until windows XP THAT starts, the screen is black as you would expect.
But there are also about 12 lines on the screen. Each line consists of (from top to bottom) 4 pixels of different colors. The rest of the screen is as you would expect.
Once Windows XP is running are several broken lines (color lines, depends on the color of office) through the screen at all levels up and down the screen.
I updated the BIOS of the laptop and installed the latest ATI drivers.
This made no difference.Anyone know if it is a faulty graphics card (is the adapter on the system board or it own map). Is it possible to update the graphics BIOS? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you very much.
Hello
This really sounds like a hardware problem, I had the same problem some time ago with my Satellite 5200 903. They said to the servicecenter
me, that the graphics card was defective and they replace. After replacing everything will work perfectly again. Thus, it would be important that your platform to a local servicepartner for a hardwarecheckup.
Here´s a good place where you can find the nearest the servicepartner in your country:

Is this a problem of graphics card on my satellite M40x-230?
I just turn on my laptop one morning and I get this screen:

Something related material is in place, I'm sure of it. Oddly enough, I can still use the laptop with an external display connected.
Any suggestions?
> Oddly enough I can still use the laptop with an external display connected.
If you use the external monitor then this problem cannot be bound to the graphics card.
If the graphics card would be affected then the external monitor wouldn't work! What if you could start Notepad?
You see the Toshiba homepage at the beginning?
You are able to access the BIOS? -
P6 - 2317c: graphics card
What IS the R5 230 XFX Radeon card compatible with my P6 computer graph - 2317c
Greetings,
Your PC has a power of 300 W.
For this card recommended feeding is 400 w 450 w.
You have a x 16 Gen 2.0 PCIe slot available on the motherboard. It seems that the map has a PCIE 2.1 interface x 16, so it's not a problem. The graphics card may not be compatible EFI. It appears your PC comes with Win 8 and has an EFI BIOS.
Check with the seller before taking the gamble of not having to ship in return if the PC does not start with the new card is installed.
Uninstall the drivers current and software charts before installing the card to avoid driver conflicts if you decide to give it a go or the seller indicates the card will work in your PC.
See you soon
