Favorite URLS changes automatically when firefox is reopened, losing original URL

When I bookmark a link, and if I open the bookmark immediately, I get the link open. However, if I restart firefox, the URL points to a random URL. If I lose the URL originally marked bookmarked forever. This has happened several times now. I also note that a similar issue is given here:

http://support.Mozilla.com/Tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=PL & comments_parentId = 123993 & $forumid = 1

And received no response.

Help, please!

It's probably a problem with the file places.sqlite, you may rename places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old or move the file to another location to see if that helps. By doing this, you will lose your history.

You can copy and paste items from the history of a folder of bookmarks in the library and export bookmarks to an HTML file. That may not work if paces.sqlite is too damaged, check the content of the HTML file to see if that has your items history marked with a bookmark.

See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox

Places.SQLite only stores bookmarks and history, so you will not lose other data such as names and passwords.

  • How to find and change settings when Firefox Sync synchronize?

    As the XMarks bookmark Synchronizer deteriorated to the point where it is unusable, I transfer my Firefox Sync synchronization tasks. It seems to work very well, but I would like to know the settings (and if possible, be able to change) that determine when its synchronizations. Does sync (a) immediately, and automatically, whenever a bookmark is changed? (b) what FF starts or firm? (c) when I say explicitly that she? (I know that c is true, because there is a menu option 'Sync'). Where can I find this info?

    ~ Tx, Ken

    a. Yes, Sync will contact the server almost immediately after a new bookmark is added. A slight delay is built to quickly add multiple bookmarks.
    b. sync will contact the server at the launch of Firefox to search for changes made on other devices connected to this sync account.
    c. There is a synchronization toolbar button sitting in the range of customization can be used to "synchronization on demand.

    You are using "Options > Bookmarks Toolbar" to display the toolbar? If you are, and it is not save your settings when you close or restart Firefox, there could be a problem with your Firefox profile.

  • xdg-open does not take into account the url and opens the different website when Firefox is the default browser in Ubuntu

    I am running Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit with Firefox version 38 for Ubuntu
    It is complected, and I tried to explain everything clearly.

    Today, I noticed a strange behavior.
    I have several URL saved as .desktop files.

    I use webupd8.org as example.
    The code for the exec in the desktop file is:
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open http://www.webupd8.org/

    Today, I noticed that if I try to go to webupd8.org, or most of the other sites, by launching the .desktop file for this site, or by typing the url
    Code:

    http://www.WebUpd8.org/

    in the dashboard Firefox opens to a completely different site. The site that opens is a site that I set up for my children's grandparents to watch videos and see photos of the children. This Web site opens each time. I'm not be directed to a site at random each time. This is the case when I try to visit the webupd8.org OR one of several websites using .desktop file or enter the url you want in the dashboard. Whenever I went to my own domain.

    It happens that I have also several sites registered in a reminder in the Firefox icon in the Launcher sidebar thing in Ubuntu.
    In the case of the beast, the exec code is slightly different and it still responds as it should. In this case, I have:
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab http://www.webupd8.org/

    Also, if I change my default in opera browser, for example as .desktop files and entering the url directly in the dashboard work as it should.

    To recap:

    When Firefox is the default browser, enter a url in the dashboard or use a to surf to a desired site .desktop file causes my be redirected to my own domain name (which is hosted remotely and not on this computer).

    If, however, I change the Exec command in the .desktop file
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open <url>

    TO
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab < url >

    the .desktop file will open Firefox and go to the desired site.

    If I change the browser by default Firefox to another browser, everything works as it should and has always so far. That is, with the Opera for example, both
    Code:

    Exec=xdg-open <url>

    and
    Code:

    Exec = firefox-new-tab < url >

    result in the browser by opening and going on the planned site. Typed a url in the dashboard is not a problem if the default browser is not Firefox.

    Anyone seen this before? If so, how to solve it?

    Thank you very much for your answers!
    I checked the url of the home page in Firefox and it has been set at startpage.com, but then when I looked at the default programs in Ubuntu, I noticed that the default program for the web had been unintentionally configured to use a .desktop file that leads to t he admin for my Web site login page.

    I changed this back to Firefox and the problem was solved.

  • I want Firefox to log out of the sites automatically when I close firefox. He used to do this.

    Previously, Mozilla Firefox would sign for me automatically when I closed Firefox. For example, if I was connected to Yahoo, he would sign for me when I closed Firefox.

    After the last update, this feature has disappeared.

    I would like to take back. How?

    If you reopen sites automatically on next start then Firefox stores cookies which are used in these tabs in the file sessionstore.js as part of session data, if you download disconnected if you close Firefox without close tabs first.

    You can set the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level pref 2 (never) or 1 (not HTTPS) on the topic: config page to disable the registration of cookies via session restore.

    The browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred pref is used when you do not reopen last session automatically via "show my windows and tabs from last time" and use the same values.

  • When Firefox has been updated automatically, it deleted my yahoo toolbar and I cannot reinstall it.

    When Firefox is automatically updated to 29, he deleted my yahoo toolbar and I cannot reinstall it. I go through the motions of the installation of the toolbar, and when I restart Firefox, the toolbar is there for a split second and then is removed from the display. I have since withdrawn from the Firefox's automatic update feature and update only if I deem it necessary and non-destructive. In the past, your software has also removed the Add on Social Fixer. I am aware that Facebook likes to not Fixer Social. Mozilla should remain neutral. You shouldn't Facebook dirty work for them. I can do without Facebook and I can also do it without Firefox.

    Hello

    Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

    Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

    More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

    WARNING: Uninstaller or the use of Firefox and not run a third remover as part of this process, because who could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. These can be recovered, unless they have been backed up on an external device!

    Please report back to see if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • my profile to update automatically when I add bookmarks etc.

    I read on the profile and where to find it. It updates automatically every time that I add new bookmarks etc AND how should I back up my profile on a key whenever I have add bookmarks etc to the profile please. I just changed for Firefox of IE8.

    Thank you
    Pingu70

    I know how to find my profile, it will automatically update each time that I add new bookmarks etc AND how should I back up my profile on a stick:

    The files in your profile are updated When you close Firefox, and your backups/restores/renames/deletes of files must be made when Firefox is down. Once a day early morning when Firefox is running, your favorites are saved by Firefox in the bookmarkbackups folder.

    You do not want to save your bookmarks, whenever you have changed the (at least I don't). You can create your own backup of your bookmarks to your USB drive at any time through Firefox and restore this backup at any time through Firefox perhaps half a minute to make either once you press the button.

    What I really recommend that when Firefox is declining would backup not only your current profile, but all your Firefox profiles and that should fit on most USB sticks that you can buy today.

    Profile - backup:
    You should support your Firefox profiles, there is not a lot of data, and you should be back up frequently. There is much more data to other applications in your Windows user library and you should be backup data there, too.

    When you back up all your data to external hard drive (500 GB to 3 TB) user profiles Firefox would be included.

    But it's about Firefox. For Firefox, a USB key would probably suffice to backup one or more profiles.

    backup of your Firefox profiles (the following is all on one line)

    xcopy C:\Users\< user name>/d/h/y/c/q/s \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*.* g:\profiles\*.*

    If you want to carry your bookmarks with refer you to them you would not use the backup .json because it is only for restoration with a complete replacement of your bookmarks. If you want something you can see elsewhere that you might want to put a file to bookmarks exported on your USB key as well.

    Don't know if you know how to use XCOPY to a .bat file or not, but that's how I got all my backups made with applications not least not applications that use files running. The following will not help much if you are not familiar with them.

    For those who may not know how to find their profile just type on: support support on the address bar, and then click the "Open folder containing" in the troubleshooting information page. If Firefox does not work, you may need to use other means.

  • How can I prevent the Foxfire loading automatically when I turn on my computer which runs on Windows Vista?

    Foxfire load automatically when that I start my computer after all the other essential programs. I would like to know how to disable the start menu link that allows the program to load when the computer first starts because the Foxfire browser is not necessary when I first start the computer. Furthermore, when I first start my computer, it is not necessarily connected to the internet and it's just a little embarrassing to see foxfire charge when it is not necessary. In addition, it takes up valuable memory in RAM when it's running, so slow down my machine. Please, someone show me how to keep this program to start when I start my computer. Moreover, my system is Windows Vista and Foxfire does not appear in the startup folder. Only by going to clicking on Foxfire default program page it does not show that Foxfire has a hidden defect that makes it to launch at startup of the computer. What I'm looking for must not see when I start my computer.

    Firefox has no opportunity installation to run at startup, you can check the different methods that Windows uses to launch programs. For details see
