FBW - MINWINPC files

I read some answers about opening or to restore FBW files.  Sorry, but I need it in English.  I followed the instructions on the PC Restore to "save your files, etc., before reinstalling vista."  All that (I hope) has been saved on my external media player.  OK, so now there is a file with the extension fbw giagantic.  My gosh that programs these things, no offense, but why aren't my files back up the way they were on my hard drive of inventories to the normal search with my photos. I could understand if they were compressed or something, but it's like they're coded.    I do not understand why it is so difficult, that granted, I am literate pc but not a programmer.  Thank you...

Hi Fenway

Welcome to the Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

FWB is an extension for the backup file that is created. It compresses all the saved data and it incorporates in a single file so that it develops the files when performing a restore. This extension lies generally with the computer saved using backup HP.

Here are some links related to backup and restore for reference: restore files from a backup http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/55e35b7f-58ab-409b-997c-bcc81d64c4271033.mspx#ETB

Hope this information is useful.

Let me know if it worked.

All the best!

Thank you, and in what concerns:

    Help

    Hello

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop now?

2 have you tried to reinstall the operating system?
    3. what program did you use to create a backup?
    4. do you get an error code or error message?

According toOberwald, it seems that fbw files are generated by HP, not Vista backup tool. I suggest you to read the following article to restore files from Microsoft.

Backup and restore: frequently asked questions:

If you are not able to boot to the desktop, then I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Start in safe mode and then try to run the restoration of the system to a point before you install the update and check if the problem persists.
Step 1: Start in SafeMode in Windows 7:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

    Step 2: System Restore:

    Method 2:

If you used a third-party program, and then try to restore using the same program and check that it works.

  • Restore HP Recovery

I had to use the HP recovery disk after a major issue that required me to return to the factory default. I now have the computer up and re-run however reinstall all my files from my external hard drive recovery, using the MINWINPC files we had a power cut which resulted in computer laptop closure during the re install process. The process now will not work any ideas please. The system restore file was created with restorewiz placed files in it. but the exe in the folder minwinpc is nothing more.

Thanks to all who can offer advice.

Watch on your C: drive to a folder called "System Recovery Files. If you find it, delete it. This is where your files are restored to and if a previuos failed it will prevent sometimes next attempts.

PS file has been saved in windows vista, now I am on windows 8.

Well, I'm not familiar with windows, these files and especially a Mac guy as a backup when my laptop has been one of the models issued with faulty NVIDIA card, so I did it in order to replace them with a new laptop. I sold this machine just to check and save my USB for later, which was yesterday. Now I guess I'm starting to love windows whith this new office (never a hp laptop, sorry guys). So yes, I never thought that it was a real pain to get back these files up until yesterday, and unfortunately, I see how many people have struggled with him in the last years, and here I am too. For another reference to anyone who has the same situation as me, the real thing came from this thread:

    http://h30499.www3.HP.com/T5/Windows-Vista/Windows-Vista-HP-RestoreWiz-FBW/TD-p/3978642/page/2#.UgvPOJJvNtB

go to 29/08/2009, this is the procedure I followed and worked like a charm on windows 8. Just make sure that you select the version of your OS porevious when the file has been saved (in my case it is only run on the windows vista SP2 settings) and as an administrator. When the message of windows 8 seems challenging to protect you applications from untrusted source, click details and select run anyway. After that, everything is in the link above. It could be useful to future users who supported the files (provided confidence OEM applications) that after a while, they want back, but then realized the application they saved with just a little sucked since its release.

  • MSINWINPC - FBW files and restore, backup Dec 2009 concerns, concerns given PC June 2011

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I did a back up of my data in December 2009 and I was wondering what is happening during a restore because I read that FWB is an extension for the backup file that is created. It compresses all the saved data and it incorporates in a single file so that it develops the files when performing a restore.

What happened to my computer from my backup, it's that I had to install the Windows Vista Service Pack 2, which has consistently failed. To cut to the Chase, I contacted HP and everything they suggested the partition of hard drive HP factory reset factory reset, does not work properly and therefore all erased my disk hard but does restore all apps doing so my computer a brick. But since then, I contact Microsoft who kindly helped me with my cmputer and it is now working very well. (Thanks a lot).

In any case, since the restore will be expanded I have 3 fear and would like advice on how I should go about restoring:

    1. the data amounts to 35.8 GB is currently on my external hard drive and free space on my drive hard is only 38 GB. If the files are all developed the 35.8 GB of data will take over 38GB?

    2. If I wanted to restore only certain files (I have a master's thesis I want to find and restore), copy the data to a file on my C drive before using the backup and Restore Center on my computer to find the file and restore?

    3. I'm worried that the old files that are saved can conflict with existing files I have been restoring my computer (like copying and pasting a file with the same name). I have to worry about this at all if I had to restore my backup data?

    Thank you

    Hi Densebrains

Yes, the files get expanded after a restore of the backup is performed and the free space, you mentioned not be enough to restore the backup. When restoring files is performed on the computer disk files with the same name are replaced and you will get a prompt notifying replace it taking place.

  • How to restore files from a backup made during a system recovery?

I have a HP Pavilion a6700y Desktop PC running Vista 64-bit. I had to do a system recovery, and I backed up my files, such as recommended.

    How can I restore them?

    Thank you

    Tiggy

Acutally, that I found was in a folder named MINWINPC, there was a folder with the date of the backup, and that is a file named Backup.1.exe. When I ran that the files have been restored - very slowly. What you say can be applied to a different version of what I have.

Thanks a lot for the input!

If you have installed 'just' Sierra as you say, there is much current activity as for example the Spotlight is re-indexing system, Time Machine is it backup, Photos are analyzed for facial recognition etc. etc.

  • No free space after deleting files - trouble with optimized storage?

Hi, I have macos Sierra and I deleted many files to my main drive and also to my external hard drive (both to the Mac OS Extended format) in preparation for the boot camp. I also emptied the Recycle Bin, although there is much less space on the two disks that it should be and the majority of the space is obviously indicated under "purgeable". I thought it would not be a problem, because I assumed that the space would be released, if I move all of the files there and if I need for the new Windows partition. However, this assumption was false. I can't simply use storage that I released. I can't move there all the files and I can't create the partition from free space. What can I do with it? It's pretty frustrating... Thanks for the help!

You must use the Bootcamp Assistant to create the Bootcamp partition.

Please provide details on the total space and free space on your internal drive. Post screenshots of what you see in system-> storage information. In addition, select the drive in Finder-I press control and post a screenshot of the window read the information.

  • Speeches and a .key file cannot be opened

I'm unable to open or work on Keynote documents. I get an error popup image that says: cannot open 'FILE.key' because it is not a valid document to Keynote. I'm assuming that the same problem will occur in numbers and pages so I have not used either of these programs in a very long time so I do not have a file to test on.

I know that the file is indeed a valid Keynote document. I recently had to reinstall my package iWork 09 since the original software discs - I have them have not purchased through the App store or my iCloud account. I have a software key. I can't move my OS to Sierra right now because I have other software that I use for work and tech support as we said we cannot go immediately. My current OS is El Capitan 10.11.6, and I have a MacBook Pro 15 "retina.

Any advice on obtaining Keynote works again until I can make the upgrade to Sierra?

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are trying use Keynote 09 to open a file created by Keynote 6.

Keynote 09 cannot open files of version 6 because they are a different file format.

If this is the case, buy and install Keynote 6 from the Mac App Store.

  • How can I have two desktops on iCloud sync at the same time, without having duplicate files?

    Hi all

I have two computers, a MacBook Pro and iMac. I use the new feature for Sierra macOS, which allows me to continually synchronize my office on iCloud. I welcome the Office on my iMac be synchronized on the cloud. Now, I would have the exact same office on my MacBook Pro. I tried many ways, including by dragging files to iCloud Drive on my desktop, but the synchronization does not work. If I enable syncing on my MacBook Pro, I know that I have duplicate files.

With this method, I would like to: whenever I have add a file on my desktop iMac computer, it shows up on my MacBook Pro Office without the need for me to keep about iCloud road opening.

    Thanks for reading this.

If you enable sync on the MacBook Pro, it should not be duplicates.  What makes you think it?

  • iMovie quadruples the file size. Why? And I can do something?

I captured some pictures of my video conferencing software. It was released as a .mp4 file encoded in H264 etc..

I then imported for some quick changes: it reduced to 39 from 44 minutes and added some melted transitions. Then he exported as a file using roughly the same settings. See screen capture.

What you will see as it is that the file climbed from 300 MB to 1200!  SO:

-What happened (can I avoid this?)

    -Can it be solved?

    Thank you!

Look at them both in mediainfo

    http://MediaArea.NET/en/MediaInfo

I can see that the second file has 2 audio tracks while the first has 1. Which may explain some of the size, but I don't know if it covers all of it.

The other also has a color profile. I have to wonder if iMovie has tried using less compression when exporting. MediaInfo will show more detail, but you will have to manually compare the values and settings.
