  Hi I just noticed all four of my HP DL380 G8 ESXi hosts 5 are tons of these messages in the/var/log/vmkernel log.  All LUNS seems to be showing / work very well, but you wonder what the messages mean?  The hosts are connected to a HP P2000 G3 via direct SAS controllers.  Any ideas?  Thank you

• 6 ESXi and broadcom/qlogic 57800 errors in vmkernel.log

  A 10gig links is used and also features offline in the vCenter. The other is showing that the unknown (it is not connected). I do not use FCoE and another r.620 with the old firmware but sam card and ESXi does not FCoE adapters.

  The problem has been resolved. It is caused by the installed by the broadcom/qlogic driver startup script.

  As long as you do not use FCoE, you can remedy by you connecting to your ESXi host and running orders following, then reboot:

  software esxcli vib remove scsi - n-bnx2fc

  CD /etc/rc.local.d/

  RM 99bnx2fc.sh

  esxcli fcoe nic disable - n = vmnic0

  esxcli fcoe nic disable - n = vmnic1

  Depending on your configuration, adjust vmnic # according to your needs. I 2x10g and 2x1gig on my card but only had to do this on the ports 2x10g (vmnic0 and 1)

  If you try to disable the driver - instead of removing - and then remove the .sh file .sh file gets restored the next time you start to really remove the vib.

  Watch for patches that can reinstall the driver. This change can be found in the notes of the bnx2fc driver version. From 1.710.70.v version [50,55].2, this "feature" will be present.

  I met exactly same problem with our brand new Lenovo x 3650 M5 machines. Unfortunately, VMware was not able to say where these newspapers come as there is not a hardware problem.

  If you feel comfortable, you can decrease vmkernel loging level by:

  core of the system settings set - setting = acpiDbgLevel - value = 1 esxcli

  Then, you will need to reboot your host.

  The vml.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is your LUN path. There is a script powershell (http://www.peetersonline.nl/index.php/vmware/translate-vml-to-lun-path-with-powershell/), which is the translation for you, however you already performed LUN path (and, therefore, the data store) in the kernel vmkernel registers, i.e. vmhba2:3:74 in your case.

  As the other poster mentioned it looks like you have problems of failover to this path for some reason any.

• New to the cloud, seen many mistakes without response

  Hi, I'm a new user in the cloud, and so far, the experience has been less than stellar. With the help of Adobe Application Manager (the most recent version, you mind), I downloaded all the programs I needed and they ran fine. My first mistake occurred when I tried to update to Photoshop and Illustrator, when I was told the update simply failed.

  A more important problem is that whenever I turn on my computer for the night or it resets unexpectedly on me, all of my Adobe programs lose their paths and simply break. Going in Adobe files in my Local disk drive and start the programs it leads to this error, but for each program, not just Dreamweaver.

In the end, I was basically pushed back and asked new contact with them Monday, as a new Department would be about it for me at this time.   As you might be able to say, I started to get excited at the end. In no case is that help me, and it ended only waste my time, leaving me with this big problem yet.   Outlook 2007 SP.2 running on MS XP Pro - you press send to deliver an e-mail with an attachment before I realized what the attachment was.  My AOL e-mail account cannot deliver beyond 10 MB and the attachment was 39 MB

  I tried to delete the email and attachment in the Outbox of Outlook but the software wont let me say its already send the message.  But its been sending this email for 5 days and its clearly blocked.

  I was wondering if anyone has seen anything it is flaky like this before with fixing a RDM on a Windows virtual machine. Appreciate your thoughts.

  Trying to fix a lun of 500 GB on a Windows virtual machine in physical mode, but it will not be displayed. I tried different a few times, and I saw him appear momentarily once in disk mgmt before disappearing for ever to be reviewed.

  My environment:

  vCenter and each host is ESXi 5.1.

  VM was a p2v there are many moons, a virtual fashion existing THAT RDM attached

  VM is 2003 Enterprise Server SP2

  What I tried:

  RDM created and attached to EMC VNX. Everything works as expected until I try new analysis/view in os, never appears

  RDM created and attached to second EMC VNX as a test, same result.

  Attached successfully original lun to a different server, to refine the original vm question

  Refreshing storage of the host where vm resides, several times throughout the process

  Rescan disk management, via the interface chart and diskpart

  Tried to add RDM device nodes for virtual scsi

  Storage of refreshment thanks to manage paths

  Event Viewer Checked to find the error that "all paths to xxxxxxxxxx died", but this is not normal (to manage paths all are active, and the other one is on the same storage array)

  Server restarts

  No idea what I can try?

  I think I've figured this out. I just tried to add the new lun in virtual mode, as the other attached RDM, and it finally worked. Maybe you can have different LUN attached in different modes on the same server. I log all my RDM in physical mode because I don't want their broken, but a vm, I inherited was attached in virtual mode, so I was hoping to begin to solve this with a new physical RDM mode to transfer data to it. Don't think.

• Do &gt; 2 TB physical RDM NEED Directpath IO?

  I've been struggling with this for over a week now so I could really use some advice.

  5.1 ESXi

  I need to install three hard drives 3 to and give them direct access to a virtual computer running FreeNAS (or other) for a ZFS ZRAID configuration to store data.

  From my research, it looks like a physical RDM is my best solution. I want that the BONES of the VM to exert direct and complete control to readers with title bit VM intervention as possible. Reason being, I want readers to be able to be exchanged in a physical server to spare if necessary to recover the data.

  I am able to do a physical RDM using the command line and I'm able to add them in a virtual machine. Once attached, they do not work in the operating system. The operating system can see the disks, but may not use it.

  I am unable to make the virtual RDM because obviously, readers are more 2 TB - 512 k.

  Where can I activate? Do I NEED to have material supporting Directpath IO to use the large RDM? I can't confirm this, but it's the only thing else that I can think of. New versions of ESXi should support up to 64 TB with the RDM...

  My hardware does not support Directpath IO so I can't spend it just a map of entire storage with the disks attached. But I can buy a new motherboard supporting the pull-out decision if that's the answer. Also, for the physics of the RDM will I need to pass to the virtual machine a whole controller (card) or can I just use the physical RDM as on the use of the SATA connectors on board?

  Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ;-)

  What type of storage do you use? ISCSI or FC?

  You certainly don't need direct i/o path for a raw device mapping physics > 2 TB (-512). So that you can safe money

  What's that it is mentioned in vmkernel.log when you join the RDM?

• Cannot access the cbs.log newspaper

  im running windows 8 on my computer laptop Packard bell, when I installed windows 8 suddenly, I could not access the BIOS, the Member of the staff at Packard bell told me to scan windows to find errors, and when I did I was surprised he found corruption but when he did and he repaired them the BIOS has started working again.
  I was very interested to see what caused the problem so went the cbs.log in the C:/windows/logs/cbs.log and I got the error message access denied.
  Please some on can tell me how to access this file

  It's too many mistakes to even consider to manage individually.

  Suspect hardware problems.

  Again the question happens BEFORE Windows loads?

  This isn't probably a Windows problem so contact Packard Bell. As OEM Packard
  Bell is responsible for BOTH the material and the proper functioning of Windows.

  hardware with the software so I wouldn't them to less than the Packard Bell Support
  told to do because if there is a hardware problem, it may fail, and you may
  not be able to run Windows at all the).

  Try to do a "Refresh your PC without affecting your files" (or modification of your personal data
  settings) or even a restore.

• Problem of cluster Failover MS after physical RDM conversion to VMDK

  Last week I had to migrate 7 x 2-nodes virtual MS Failover clusters to a new data center. All clusters have been configured with the configuration of the cabin and all shared disks were in physical RDM mode.

  The target data center does not RDM disks so I had to convert all RDM disks VMDK files and use config before the migration of the IPC.

  I used vmkfstools to convert VMDK eagdrzeroedthick RDM files.

  5 clusters have been migrated successfully, but two cluster got strange question even if the procedure for all groups was the same.

  So in two groups, I have a problem where the second node in the cluster can not put online some of the shared disks. The first nodes in the clusters have no problem with the disks/SSP.

  But when I try to failover of all services, the second node may not bring online disc 1 or 2 shared, even if she can put the other shared disks online.

  VMKernel.log is not errors or warnings. I checked the configuration of virtual machines and everything seems OK.

  Any ideas what I could check?

  Just in case anyone else is facing the same problem.

  I could not find the root cause of the problem, even if it's without a doubt the conversion that triggered the problem. However, we found quite a simple solution - added new shared VMDK files, copied the files over and replaced the defective discs.
