file association

OK, I got the idea on how to fix my USB but may not try it because my son has change a file sort of association. Whenever I try to open an application EXE file it comes up to save it as downloads. It does not open I want to just record under downloads. I noticed on my desk and in the download file, apps are now represented by the icon Chorme. I'm assuming that the file association for exe files changed Chrome.  Please help so that I can continue to deal with the other issue. I can't even reset to the factory setting and I can't get on the internet to download all the problems.

My system is HP Pavilion Windows 7 64 Windows 6.1 sp1 help Barb beath

I started to get the message that an associated help file is not found when I try to open a pdf file. Hello

In your Options dialog go to the Applications tab. You can manage your file associations there.

Note that if you're still having problems with your file associations, you may have a corrupted file mimetypes.rdf . You can go to your profile to rename Centennial mimetypes.rdf or something so that Firefox can rebuild and restore all of your default associations.

  • delete the file associated with playlist

If I import a set of files in iTunes that I have worked with previously, the program has somehow, platforms, written in the files that they are now associated with a playlist.

But where the ID tag or file header is this and how can I remove it?

It appears in the properties of the Win Explorer, it does not show in the menu 'get info' in iTunes (unless I missed it), and it does not show in sch third-party programs such as mp3tag.

I tried to get rid of it by deleting the actual playlist, but once I drag and drop one of the files that are used to be in this new in iTunes, the playlist will reappear.

So, I went to "Edit Playlist", then deleted all the files it contains. Now I have several empty playlists. But, again, if I drag move the files back into iTunes, playlists are back.

It says "part of a compilation" in the properties of the file, but this field is always empty.

So, how can I delete iTunes playlist audio file association?

    THX.

Remove all file from playlist (.m3u) that is located in the folder containing the media that are imported.

  • All file associations went on my computer,

I can't open anything except Internet Explorer on the computer. Even System Restore does not open, is there a way to restore the computer and fix file associations?

You can open a normal file as search or my documents? If you can, go to tools, options, folders and file types. Who will appear the list of types of files on your computer. Check if you see here. Also, run regedit and check if you see file extension records in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. If they are actually missing, then you will need your windows CD-ROM.

Equip your windows cd and restart your computer. on the first screen that you see or black screen, either go into your BIOS Setup to boot from the cd or continue to press F12 (if enabled) to enter your computers start menu and select to boot to the CD drive. Once you have selected you need to wait for windows to load all it's files and when they finish, choose to continue with the windows installation, when the installation program asks you to choose where you want to install it will say first check for installed versions of windows, and then it will ask you if you want to repair your windows installation and then press the right key to fix, I think it's R.

    Good luck with that!

  • WLM file associations associations of system

I am running Win XP and Office WLM. I have Office 2003 is installed and all file associations are defined to use Office 2003. If I open a .doc from a folder, it opens in Word 2003 without problem.

I installed a trial of Office 2010, to try it. This has obviously changed all my file associations, but I changed them back because I didn't want to use Office 2010 by default (it's so slow to start!).
However, if I open a WLM desktop accessory, it always use Office 2010 to open the file. Why? Why it does not use the default file association?
I know that I can save an attachment on my HARD drive and open from there (and it uses Word 2003 correctly), or I could uninstall Office 2010 trial and he will return to Office 2003 (I hope!), but I'd rather have WLM use default file associations.
Is there a way I can force WLM to use Word 2003 high of the page open .doc files?

  • How can I change the file association in Windows XP

All my WORD documents and such are automatically saved in a WORDPAD document, how can I stop that?

While the file associations in windows do not address how a file should be opened,

It does not address how a file should be saved.

the method of saving in a program is controlled by this program.

Therefore, if you use word 2003, then you must change to save documents rtf to word documents.

try clicking on Word Tools Menu then Options file.

then under the tab backup, do not forget to select the right format for saving your documents, IE Word documents (* .docs).

  • Windows® XP file Association problems? Copyright 2003 - Doug Knox? his files work?

Windows® XP file Association problems? Copyright 2003 - Doug Knox? his files work?

It is wrong to go all that is your problem.

I have instructions to run the Doug Knox fix as a copy/paste of my notes, I'll never have to type it once again, which means that (at least for the EXE usual file association problem), I like to use, but we don't know what your question is.  In fact, the majority of the stuff I answer here is just a copy and paste, I have fixed some things so many times...

Here's what I have copy and paste about afflicted EXE file associations:

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

Go to this site WWW by Doug Knox:

    http://www.dougknox.com/

On the left, click on the Win XP fixes, file Association fixed and read the instructions at the top of the page.

Download the EXE File Association Fix on your desktop, unzip the file and apply it by following the instructions at the top of the page, then to restart and test.

Run the following scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
