File missing in Windows 7

When I created a new user for myself (Bob) on my new Windows 7 computer, he made a folder called
\Users\bob OS (C :). In this folder were subfolders, created by the system, called AppData, Contacts, desktop, etc.
Last night, after the copy of the files to a Maxtor hard drive, I noticed that the... \users\bob folder disappeared.
Too late to do something about it then, but today he was still missing as well as some text files, I've been working on and some downloads
the programs I installed. By chance, I discovered some of the files in places like "Downloads" appearing at the top right left
under a star and the word 'Favorites '. The top line of the screen shows the original "Bob (arrow) downloads as if it still existed.

A few other files were found under "library" in the left panel, in 'Documents '.

How or why what happened?
Should I delete this user Bob, and re-create for subfolders?
Currently, I have zero confidence in this new operating system.

Well, it's a good sign.  Maybe the file is simply marked as hidden or (less likely) marked as a system file.  Here's what I suggest:

1. in your folder, on the view tab options, choose to display the hidden files and folders.  If the Bob is now visible, right click and properties allows to make is more hidden, (then I suggest that you put your hidden files back off).
2. If this option does not record showed, I suggest to use the same view in the Folder Options tab 'show protected operating system files' and see if that allows the folder be seen.  It is less likely, but could be the case.
I hope that this is what it takes - if the file does not appear with enabled options, let me know and we can dive deeper.

Also, when I sync a new reading list for the sansa now, the music files are present in the folder "music", but there is no "reading list" in the playlist folder (other than the above mentioned empty playlist.

What USB setting you normally use? If your drive is on Auto Detect, it means he was able to connect in the MTP or MSC mode. If it is passed it could account for the different 'look'.

Try to switch between the 2 modes and see if things return to normal.

Better manually the value to be one or the other and say - considers the parameter "default".

  • file missing in windows XP

I gave up and I don't want to invest money in this computer. Lock your comment about the F, no there is no lock F and I consulted the F2 and F12 F8 without any problem.  I also did a full diagnostic test and it shows the damaged hard drive.  So adios Dell. Two of the three files are probably part of the malware infection and not the files infected. The third is probably the same details in this link:

With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig. You will find the three points and they will have a description 'file is missing' against everyone. Your antivirus software has removed the files, but not the startup entries in the registry. All you need to do is delete the entry using Autoruns to eliminate the error messages.

Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.

I'm reading a file mpeg and Windows Media Player C00D1199 error.  How to get good download of the missing codec?  I have windows 7 x 64 os.

    All is not lost.

Download and install a pack of codecs, such as K-Lite (Google for it). You can find THAT WMP can then read the file.

    Or
Download and install a small program called Gspot (Google it)! Drag and drop in its window one of the files, you can't plzy. It will tell you which codecs are used. You can then download and install the only after doing a search on the web for it.

  • Error code: 0xc0000034 missing file /BCD in Windows 8

    * Original title: help! Error code: file missing /BCD 0xc0000034 Windows 8!

    Hello

I have a Zoo-storm and I seem to have a lack file start.

The error code is 0xc0000034 and the missing file is /BCD.

I do not know the use of this file, but it seems important to me.

I called the ZooStorm company and they said I should have a drive, but I do not have this disc.

I really don't like if I have to completely wipe the computer but I need this problem soon.

    Help, please

    Tyler

The link you provided above comes up with a message "page cannot be found".

I have now solved the problem by using the BCDBoot command, but it took a week of research and a lot of trail and error, while I have it might have solved the first day if the BCDBoot instructions above had been better.

Here are the BCDBoot instructions above:

    1. press SHIFT + F10 when you are in the screen install Windows, elevated to the starting command prompt will now open.
    2. type DISKPART command
    3. Enter the command LIST VOLUME, note volume don't...
    4. Enter the command SELECT VOLUME 'no' (eg1, 2, 3) mine was 3
    5. Enter the command ASSIGN LETTER = Z and OUTPUT
    6 enter the BCDBoot c:\Windows /s f: UEFI z: command
    7. close and restart.

Here are my suggestions for improvement:

Point 3. above: the statement: "Note volume no....". "is useless, because it gives no indication of what are the criteria to use. I thought initially that files would be copied from the dvd of recovery on the c drive, so I noted the volume for drive c. In fact, the files are copied from the c drive, so the volume no note is one containing the BCD files used at startup, which is different. It is not obvious to me how to choose the correct volume. I guessed that it was volume 2 on my Dell laptop (labeled something like ESP or EPS) and which proved correct. Otherwise, it's trial and error again.

Point 5. above: it should be two lines, as there are has two separate orders to enter.

Point 6. above: I think that the two points between f and UEFI should not be there.

I hope that these suggestions are useful to other people, assuming they notice that there is a Page 2.

    Hello

What operating system is currently installed?

If Windows doesn't start over there is not much you can do and I recommend to reinstall Windows from the Toshiba recovery disc. Such a new and clean facility can help power Windows and the new installed Windows system will work also a bit faster and more stable if it s advisable to reinstall at any time (1-2 years).

So take the Toshiba Recovery disk and follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall Windows.

    keimanzero,

Comcast of Norton Security Suite version is installed? If Yes, who and perhaps malware is most likely to cause questions you have published, in particular the failure of the restoration of the system.
First, configure the system to boot - How to solve a problem by performing a boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
NOTE: Start-up mode minimum state all the 3rd party firewalls will be disabled. Open Control Panel > Windows Firewall to make sure that the native firewall of Windows 7 is now on.

Download and Save the update system (or CheckSUR) tool. You will need to download the specific Version of CheckSUR corresponding to the architecture of the system to Windows 7. If you do not know the architecture of the system, and then click the link that says "Click here to show or hide the instructions step by step with images" under method 2: download the update directly system preparation tool from Microsoft Download Center .
Description of the preparation tool system update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2

Once the download is complete, close all open programs and browsers. Now, run CheckSUR with the system connected to the internet because it will download the .cab for system files. Reboot once CheckSUR is complete.

Secondly, I suggest that you run the File Checker system while in the same clean boot state.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the field search programs and files .
    2. Right click on cmd.exe in the programs of list, and then choose 'run as administrator '.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
    3. At the command prompt, enter the following line exactly as written including the space between thec and the/and then press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problems facing the system have been resolved.

If they are not, you will need to contact Norton support for the version of Norton Internet Security Comcast to get help, or just uninstall NIS, run the Norton removal tool (right click Norton_Removal_Tool.exe, choose "Run as Administrator"), reboot and then check to see if the problems are still occurring.
