File security

In Win 7, I right-click on a picture file that I received as an attachment (Yes, it was scanned before opening) and I not know who is the sender and what is the file.

When I right click on the file and go to 'Properties', under 'Security' ITI says that it is locked and there is an option "unlocked" - How can it be "blocked" because I can access in Windows Explorer?

If you look again you will see that it says "may be blocked" - this is just to alert you to the fact that he came from another computer... I get this with illustrations of music all the time. If it had been checked with a virus scan that you can safely check the box to unlock. -Ric.

  • Tecra M7: Vista 'Open file security warning' for Alptec pointing device .exe files

I gritted my teeth and updated my M7 for Vista Ultimate Friday. Overall I am very happy with the results. I have stripped the machine of all Toshiba drivers before installation and then re-installed all Vista drivers afterwards.

Everything seems to be OK aside, whenever I boot, I get the following errors when the device pointing Alptec drivers load: open file security warning - the Publisher could not be verified.
Are you sure you want to run this program? The file is: C:\Porgram Files\Apoint2k\appoint.exe, then the same thing for: c:\Popram Files\Apoint2K\ApmsgFWD.exe and C:\Program Files\Apntex.exe. I click "Run" on each of the applications and uncheck the button "always Me ask."

It makes no difference and every time that I reboot, I get the same error. If anyone has had this problem, and if so, do you know how to fix it?

I suspect it is a problem of certificate with Alps Electric Co Ltd and have checked their website and found nothing.

    Hello

Just a question before we start any discussion here: have you downloaded and installed the drivers, tools and utilities for Toshiba download page in order facilities listed in the instructions facilities document?

  • Open file - security WARNING on each lnk, MS same installed apps

Since a few weeks ago win7 update, each shortcut lnk and I mean EVERY lnk, now requires intervention through the "open file - security warning".

The message is always the same, Unknown Publisher, even for MS Word, SQL Server, etc.  These all operate locally in the C drive and I have admin rights.

If launch the exe directly from the browser, everything works without problem.  It's just the shortcuts that have problems.

I'm running Win7 64 Pro.  Before the update that caused it, it worked fine.  I had all the UAC disabled _ and everything was fine.

It's more than an inconvenience, but my new system turning a worthless brick.

  • Open file - security WARNING when opening shortcuts

original title: open file - security warning

Hello. I was greeted with a dialog box "Open file - security warning" at the opening of the shortcuts the (they are not the Internet or a network drive) after I applied the settings in Internet Options to turn off AutoComplete.

Only shortcuts that are related to specific files are affected (see figure 1).

I searched the Internet for a while, but it looks like using Group Policy Editor or Properties Internet does not help. Change strategy will just lead to another illustrated dialog box (seefigure 2). Opening .exe files is not affected, as open shortcuts to elsewhere. To make foreign things, if I just copy the shortcuts to another location (such as in the root directory or on another hard disk), they work fine without the security warning. Move the shortcuts or their copy to the folder of the Start Menu does not work.

    Just... What's happened!

I actually found a response that makes more sense than the foregoing.  Following a power failure network, after starting my computer and trying to connect to my domain account, it seems that Windows will change the permissions on some points, when he thinks he is attacked.  Thus, Windows has changed the permissions on my desktop, but nothing that I could see in the user interface.  Some, but not all, links on my desk began to exhibit this problem and he only posted links on my desk.

So, after doing some research I came across the following article, which got me in a good way:

Difficulty of Start Menu shortcuts open file security in Windows 7 and Windows Vista warning

All I had to do was to change the path to my office (see below):

    ICACLS "C:\Users\\Desktop" /Setintegritylevel (OI) (CI) M

and everything was back to normal again.

I have a laptop gateway model MP8708, which ran on XP.

The computer is unusable without the power supply cord is not an option to turn back on my old Gateway computer. On the gateway computer (original), I got my computer set up to always ask for my password before it would allow access after 5 minutes of inactivity proved, or whenever the computer went into hibernation or has been disabled.

The original hard drive Gateway has been removed so I could copy or move my files from the old hard drive to my new Acer laptop hard drive, and I have a device that allows me to use a USB to connect it to my new computer.

The new Acer running Windows 7.

  • For the parameter file security trouble

    Experts of Vista,

I just finished rebuilding my system Vista. Vista works much better; antivirus, updates and applications have been installed. Finally, I copied the files and folders to application data to an external hard drive Segate my documents to the user. Everything seemed fine until it tried to open a FLA from Flash.  I get a "you don't have permission to open this file" message.  The same thing happens when I try to open a file ASPX from Visual Studio.  A large number of files have this problem.  I found a work around problem opening as administrator applications.

To investigate the origin of the problem, I opened file to a problem file properties and you click the Security tab.  That's what I found:

There are three user or group names: SYSTEM, administrators, & unknown account.
The three names of users or groups have control over filling.

I guess that the solution to my problem is to add a new username with my user name and delete the unknown account username.  I tried a solution that was posted in this forum, by modifying the security properties of the Document folder, but the changes did not through for alll the files/folders in the parent folder.

My questions are, 1.) is my assumption correct and 2.) If yes how can I do without mucking things up?  I would appreciate any tips, advice and you can provide wisdom. GrandpaB

You should be able to do it from the Documents folder (you don't really want to change all files and folder individually - and we don't know yet who will work until you've tried on a couple of files that have the problem).  When you have done so, have you checked the box to ensure that these changes apply to all subfolders and files - if nnt, is why it did not work.  You will need to click Advanced, and then make the changes in the special permissions section (including adding yourself in its own right).  You can also take possession of everything in the Documents folder.  Together, this should solve the problem.

Here is some information that might help you in this task.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

  • 2 pop Ups When I on my laptop Fujitsu T4220 - open file security warning

IM using a Fujitsu T4220 Tablet. I had to reinstore my os, Win Vista.

    Security warning opening the file

    Name: C:/Windows/System32/igfxpers.exe
    Publisher: Intel Corporation
    Type: Application
    From: C:/Windows/System32/igfxpers.exe

I have 2 possibilities to run or cancel.

One can help to to get rid of this 2 pop ups plx.

Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and install and run Autoruns and go to the tab all and check the files referred to in your message.  If you find them, uncheck the boxes to keep them from start to start, and then click OK.  Reboot and messages should be gone.

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

Start in safe mode with network and see if the problem is here.  A result allows us to narrow down the search for the cause.

I hope this helps.  Keep me posted.
