File transfer - 8.1 for Windows XP Windows

I am trying to transfer files from my laptop (8.1/64-bit Windows) of a desktop computer, I built recently (Windows XP SP3/32-bit). Both computers are connected to my router homenetwork via direct connect the ethernet cables, but I have no internet connection at the moment. I can, however, connect to the internet via my neighbors internet access. Can someone point me in the right direction, perhaps some software or other file transfer method?

There are several ways to do so.   Here are a few:

1. the data from the old machine by email and read it on the new.

2. the two machines of the network and transfer of data over the network.

3 remove the drive from the old computer and install it temporarily (or permanently) in the new computer or in an external USB enclosure.

4. use floppy disks and cover the largest files on several disks using a file splitting program (or any standard zip utility, which can do this too).

5 copy the files on CD

6. copy files to a USB key.

Which of these is best for you depends on several things: the amount of data you transfer, if you plan to keep the old computer, you are ready to spend a few dollars for a USB key if you do not, etc..

I get this window popping up that reads, "files required for Windows to run correctly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.»  To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.  Insert your Windows XP Professional CD2 now. "The problem is that I'm not running XP Professional.  I am running XP Media Edition (do not know what version - when I look at 'System' in the control panel it says version 2002, but the OS disc that came with my computer says version 2005 with update rollup 2).  In any case, I only have an installation disc, and when I insert it, the computer tells me it's the wrong disc.  What should I do?

    God help us all...

Is the CD you have an XP bootable installation CD authentic or some kind of restore CD provided with your system (they are not the same thing).  If it's a CD of Windows, this Service Pack is on the CD?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

What is your Service Pack installed?  If you are not sure, do the following:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msinfo32

Click on OK and when the system info summary appears, click on Edition, select all, copy, and then paste the results here.

There will be some personal information (such as the user name and the name of the system), and what appears to be personal information for you, simply delete the personal information of the pasted information.

When you see a message like this:

    Windows file protection
Files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.  To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

I hope that you are curious to know what is the file and when you know that, you can decide what to do about it.

You must click Cancel, and then click Yes to keep the file, then you will have an event to watch which will tell you what the problem is the file.

Search where you sign in to see what is the name of file system Viewer, then decide what to do.

The event will look something like in this example:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Windows File Protection
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 64005
    Date: 10/01/2011
    Time: 14:41:56
    Description:
The protected system file taskmgr.exe had not been restored in its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction, user name is Jose.  The file version of the bad file is unknown.

When you know what the file is, you can decide what to do about it.  There are probably other copies of the files on your system, or you can get the files from another source.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

Check your event observer system log and look for a proposed Windows file protection event.

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

It then opens a window saying "problem of installing the software driver for the device - driver for this device is missing a necessary entry.» Maybe it's because the file INF was written for windows 95 or later. »

    Hello

The drivers that you try to install seems to be corrupted. Let us fisrt remove all traces of the software driver for this device in the Device Manager and then install the drivers from the manufacturer's Web site.

    Step 1.
You can uninstall the audio drivers completely from the Device Manager and re-install from the manufacturer's Web site.
I would also recommend to check if there are Windows updates for this device.

    Step 2.
Here is the link to download the latest drivers.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=MK

Select the type of product like "Mouse" and select the product as "Notebook Optical Mouse" and your version of operating system and the language of the operating system.

This page will direct you to a link to download the IntelliPoint software, which is the software of the mouse.

For more information see the links below.

    I hope this helps.

  • Transfer of visualizations for Windows Media Player 12

I have two computers. My office is a Windows XP Home Edition and my laptop is a Windows 7 Professional edition. I was wondering if it is possible to somehow get the visualizations of my Windows XP Media Player 9 converted to work on my Windows 7 Media Player 12.

Where it is simply not possible or too much work in the long term, I was always curious why Plenoptic visualizations have been abandoned by the time released Windows Media Player 11. Microsoft or someone else would be able to do these visualizations to be reused?

    Hi Br4nd0nW,

Welcome to the Microsoft Windows answers Forum community!

Plenoptic was not entirely compatible with Media Player v12 and all non compatible
visualizations have been removed. Those who have tried to install this file from
Media player v9 did not have much luck.

You can see these links for help:

You can get most visualizations on the following Web site. Visualizations for Windows Media Player: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/visualizations.aspx

    Hope this information helped!

  • Is it possible to transfer my CS5 for windows to mac

I migrate from windows to Mac

I want to transfer my CS5 version for windows on my macbookpro.

I downloaded the mac version of CS5 and tried with the serial number, I got to the windows version, but as it was predictable, the number was not recognized.

    Is there a solution?

    MC

It is rather a misleading answer since only CS6 is eligible for platform swap. Not for CS5.

    The only CS5 options are:

    (a) a paid upgrade to CS6 for Mac (perpetual license), or

    (b) join the Cloud

I have an old computer with excel and word files running on Windows 98. I recently got a new printer that does not work with Windows 98. So, I tried to transfer these files on my laptop that runs on Windows07 using floppy disks and external floppy drive. The laptop cannot load old files. I checked the floppy drive by downloading and uploading then laptop Excel and Word files without any problem.  When I try to download an old file I get a message asking me to format the drive, which then clears the file. After formatting the drive and by downloading the file again, I get a message saying that the file may be damaged.

Someone had a similar problem that could help me please.

    Thanks and greetings

    If my suggestion fails...

    You can also try:

Connect the floppydrive to your old PC

Move ALL of the files on the diskette to the old PC

Unplug the the old PC floppydrive

Plug it into the new PC

When it ask to format, then do it - you erase anything on the floppydrive, because the files are safe on the old PC...

After formatting, disconnect the new PC floppydrive

Connect it to the old PC...
