File transfer hard drive for laptop

I'm looking for transferring files from a portable computer of my new Seagate hard drive. the external hard drive was back to old dell 4600 Tower, I've been through the old programs my screen froze, I guess my question is how to transfer files and is it safe to transfer files with this external hard drive, see it was connected to my old desk top when it froze?

Copy and paste or drag and drop.

and - is it safe to transfer files with this external hard drive, see that it was connected to my old desk top when it froze?

Assuming you're talking about data file, Yes. If you speak
on the program files, you can transfer them, but it is useless - they
will not work.

I have a laptop dv7-3140el and HD samsung HM641JI 640GB 2.5 "SATA 5400 RPM (to replace car failure). To buy a new hard drive I have to take the same or I can take 7200 RPM instead of 5400? What technical specifications should I look for when buying a hard drive for computer laptop dv7-3140el? I wouldn't make a bad purchase!

    Sorry for my bad English

    Hello

Here are a few points to note when replacing your HARD drive:

You are not limited to any particular drive manufacturer.

The speed of rotation of the disc can be 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM

The new drive HARD should be at least the same capacity (or slightly more is okay) as the original drive - mounting a drive smaller than the original often causes risks with recovery media.

The player at the link below is an example of one that would be perfect for your laptop.

750 GB hard drive for laptop.

If necessary, the procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 47 of your maintenance & Service Guide.

  • Pavilion DV6449 hard drive for laptop compatibility

I have a HP Pavilion DV6000 (p/n: GA456UA #ABA, serial number DV6449us) for portable computer without a hard drive. I happened to have a Toshiba 500 GB SATA 5400 tr/MIN used available hard drive and I would like to know if the HARD disc is compatible with your laptop. I asked computer two shops and the other says that the laptop has been limited by the BIOS with a maximum of 200 GB hard drive; However, other store said that the laptop can take a larger size of the HARD drive.  Could someone clarify this for me?

If the drive is compatible, I would also like to know what are the procedures would get Notepad running after the installation of the HARD disk, and if I need to update the BIOS? Should I format the HARD drive? When should I install the OS?

In addition, I don't have a HP re - install the disk to reinstall the operating system. Can I use my another PC temporarily reinstall drive (Vista Home Premium 32 - bit) to test if the laptop works properly before purchasing a license of the OS? I'll be very grateful if anyone can list what steps I must take to lift the laptop up and running.

    Paul:

    We have done it.

I Redid the iso via USB and this time it worked on the first try. I got the installed vista32. And I'm updating service pack now.

Thank you very much for your patient and your advice.

  • Replacing hard drive for laptop after Windows update failure

The internal hard drive is not now on our Pavilion dv9700 CTO Windows Vista 64-bit. I would like to replace it with a hard drive from equivaltent, but I am unsure on how to provide for the operating system (we want Windows7 instead of Vista) and productivity software (essentially MS Office Pro). What is the best way to go about this? I have Win7 CDs I have installed on another computer that has also died and gone out of service, so I prefer to use them rather than buy a new license. Ditto for the OEM Office supplied with this notebook.

Please provide suggestions that you will need to perform this type of upgrade. We must keep costs at a minimum right now and since nothing else seems to be failing on the 9700 repalcing the part and reconfigruing seems the best way to go. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can replace it with this number of HP spare. It will be smaller, slower, and 3 times more expensive. Computer laptop SATA hard drives are interchangeable, generic, industry standard. If you buy the one above and it doesn't work PM me and I'll buy it for you at your expense.

  • T40 transfer hard drive for T43

A few years ago I had a T40 and bought a new hard drive a Hitachi HTS721010G9AT00 100 GB at 7200 RPM.  My card mother T40 is dead, so I looked for a replacement cheap T43 found and bought.  Then I started to read about error 2100 reports with other hard disk error problems.  I have not received my T43 again, this drive would be a problem with the T43?  I thought that this would work because it is Hitachi and they took things hard drive IBM... Thank you!

I thought about it!  I found an old iso copy of the firmware of the drive on another site and then the instuctions on this Web site and it works perfectly now!  I called lenovo support, but it was no use, they say, they have no access to the old firmware hard drive .   They seemed to have no idea how to fix this.  If the information is correct, I found, the more difficult part tried to trackdown a rather old copy that would work with the instructions that were committed last year.

  • BIOS does not detect not hard drive for laptop after the setting of the default BIOS settings.

I had my 14.04 installed Ubuntu in my laptop in a reader named «Notebook hard drive» a pre-installed Windows 8. Today I put the default BIOS settings in my phone and when I rebooted it and tried to use Ubuntu by pressing 'F9' key and choosing from the menu of the BIOS I found my 'Notbook HDD"option missing. My disk of Ubuntu is still there, but I have no way to access it. Is there a way I can get it to work?

Try turning off secure in the BIOS and then start by restarting the laptop.

  • Recovering data from hard drives of laptop data

    1. laptop computer work with a hard drive to work (I know that this is the case if you insert the disc of the laptop, it works, it loads windows xp, you can use the laptop according to the normal without errors / problems etc.)

We have a disk external drive kit (again I know works as I use to connect to a multitude of other hard drives via the USB port of a desktop PC) and I have another kit to different hard drive for the first USB SATA hard drive recovery kit and it does the same thing when you try to access the data on the hard drive for laptops

If I connect the laptop hard drive to my desktop PC it won't appear in my computer even if you right-click my computer--> manage--> disk management

The drive appears here as not initialized and will fail if you try to initialize the disk indicating there CRC errors and it will not assign a drive letter.

Is there a quick way to access the data on the disk?

As much as I know readers are not encrypted as when loading after the bios POST, you get not all blue / violet loading gauges, this is Windows XP SP 3 so do not use bit locker or something like that.

What should I do to get access to data as quickly as possible without making too many steps or waiting for utils recovering data, etc..

Also, what do Lenovo for the drives causing headaches as much?

Am confused with your part external kits...

In any case, I assume you have a computer laptop lenovo work and office work. You try to connect lenovo's HARD drive in a USB drive kit and extract data from the desktop.

    (1) is the disc encrpted HARD lenovo? Check the Bios and also if lenovo security software are installed.

    (2) the fastest way I'm doing it today is to connect laptops and office to a network. Share the disk, and then extract the data from the laptop or desktop. A second option is remote laptop and retrieves the data.

    (3) another possibility is that your laptop is XP, IE the formatting isn't AHCI (check the bios under sata), it is in compatibility mode. The Office use Vista or Windows 7?

  • External hard drive for source files

    Windows 7. Body CC x 2014

I would like to set up a or external hard drives for source files so that I can change my laptop on the location of a specific project (that is to say, I can't use my office)

    What is the best solution?

    * USB 3 SSD

    * USB 3 at 7200 RPM hard drive

Can I use two external USB 3 drives?

Can I quote the external drive so that I have no file linking issues?  IE the volume name remains the same whenever I have to reconnect to it?

    * I ask here first of all because I have to buy the appropriate disks until I can test anything.

    Thanx.

USB3 for SSD is the fastest solution. Set both computers to use the same drive letter of the volume on the port USB3, for example of letter P for portable in disk management. For a second port USB3, you can use a different volume drive letter.

    Simple steps:

    1. Format the drive and give a volume name.
    2. In disk management, assign a drive letter, for example P.
    3. Connect the drive to another computer and repeat step 2 here.

The volume name remains unchanged and the drive letter remains the same on both computers.

  • Upgrade hard drive for computer laptop dv6626us

I searched for the hard drive on my laptop dv6626us upgrades. When I read the comments they seem to all be positive with regard to the replacement of my current (factory loaded hard drive). One of the concerns is that the computer has been delivered to the factory with Windows XP loaded. I don't see the comments of those who have Windows 8.

Upgrading the hard drive for the dv6626us with windows xp installed at the factory would be compatible with the hard disk depending on whether I have found as being compatible for windows 8.

recommended update: Seagate portable, SSHD hydrides disk HARD 1 TB Sata-600 n/p.

The hard drive I have on the computer named above is: WD Scorpio WD1600B EVS - training 60RST0 settings: LBA 312581808.  This hard drive has been charged at the factory.

    Hello mikee1960,

HP does not have hardware support for Windows 8 on any system purchased before October 1, 2011.  Most of the Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8.

Check out this page to see if your computer has been tested by HP with Windows 8.

You can run the Upgrade Wizard, which will scan your PC and report on what is currently installed on your PC is compatible with Windows 8.  This guide was updated for Windows 8 provides lots of information which is needed for all those planning the upgrade.

  • How to get personal files on a backup external hard drive for windows 7

How to get files from a backup external hard drive for windows 7 pro. ? I DON'T WANT TO RESTORE WINDOWS 7, JUST MY PHOTOS & DOCUMENTS.    TO THANK THE TAXI 53 DRIVER

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

You can restore backed up files lost, damaged, or accidentally modified versions. You also to restore files individual, groups of files, or all files that you have saved.

If you are restoring files from a backup that was made on another computer, the files are restored in a folder under the user name that was used to create the backup. If the user names are different, you must navigate to the folder where the files are restored.

I suggest you use the steps in this article and check if it helps.
