File Windows - no CD available protection.
Hi, I am running Windows XP SP3, and I have a problem: whenever I restart my computer, there is this pop-out window by File Protection Windows claiming one of my system files has changed and is now a unrecognized version. To restore, I am required to insert in Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3 disk.
However, I installed my windows using Windows XP Professional, SP 2 Disc, and then an update of the patch to SP3. When I tried to insert SP2 disc I have, he claims that it is a bad CD. As a result of an Advisor from Microsoft Helps @ Twitter, I was redirected tohttp://bit.ly/fZKvFR , where I was able to download an ISO image of the SP3 files. Then, I use a daemon software to mount the ISO image file. Then I restarted my computer and tested the uploaded image file. However, Windows File Protection claims that it was not the source of my installation of SP3...
My computer still works as normal, except that it's slow much easier. Not sure if this could be the cause, but if possible, I would like to solve it.
Can someone help me with this please?
Thanks for the reading of the charges and looks!

The idea of the Microsoft Support Engineer will not fix the problem. She can fix the symptom of the problem and bring serious consequences with it, but it is always better to fix the real problem and not the symptom (I think).
Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system. Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.
Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.
Provide information on your system, the better you can:
What is your system brand and model?
What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?
You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?
If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?
If you have a genuine bootable CD with the same Service Pack as your installed SP, not get you very far when XP needs a file, but you can always to understand what happens and then decide what to do about this (if the following applies to you):
Here is what will help you to:
When you see a message like this:
Windows file protection
Files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.
I hope that you are curious to know what is the file and when you know that, you can decide what to do about it. Until you know what is the file, you can't really decide what to do about this, or how it happened. But, of course, you can try some things!
You must click Cancel, and then click Yes to keep the file, then you will have an event to watch which will tell you what the problem is the file.
Search where you sign in to see what is the name of file system Viewer, then decide what to do.
When in the Viewer system event log, click the "Source" column header to sort the events in alphabetical order by the name of the Source. The events of "Windows File Protection" must be near the bottom of the list (because they begin with 'W').
The event will look something like in this example:
Event type: Information
Event source: Windows File Protection
Event category: no
Event ID: 64005
Date: 10/01/2011
Time: 14:41:56
Description:
The protected system file taskmgr.exe had not been restored in its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction, user name is Jose. The file version of the bad file is unknown.
When you know what the file is, you can decide what to do about it. There may have other copies of the files on your system or you can get the files from another reliable source - anyone can download the files you need to their SkyDrive and you can download and replace the files one at a time, if there is not too much.
First you must understand what the file is that XP thinks he needs.
A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:
eventvwr.msc
Click OK to launch the event viewer.
Check your event observer system log and look for a proposed Windows file protection event.
When in the Viewer system event log, click the "Source" column header to sort the events in alphabetical order by the name of the Source. The events of "Windows File Protection" must be near the bottom of the list (because they begin with 'W').
If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information. On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.
When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis. Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

Currently I have Windows vista. I want to upgrade to windows 7. I would lose my files, programs, settings, and virus protection
original title: upgradeIf you do an in place upgrade your files and programs will remain on the computer. If you perform a custom installation, you will need to back up your files and reinstall your programs.
Installation - 'upgrade' means what?
Upgrade means that you can install Windows 7 simply by inserting the Windows 7 upgrade software in the DVD drive of your PC and follow the instructions on the screen. While you are not required to backup and reinstall your files, or reinstall your programs, it is a very good idea to back up your files and settings before you start any upgrade to the software. Get more information on the software updates and best practices .Installation - what does "Custom (Clean)" Mean?
A custom (clean) installation clears the contents of the hard drive of your PC. Your files, settings, and programs will not be transferred to Windows 7. This means that to install Windows 7, you must:Back up any files and settings you want to keep
Install Windows 7
Reinstall all your files
Reinstall all the programs you want to use.
These four steps take time, skills, techniques and Windows Easy Transfer can help. However, if you are not comfortable with this process, please consider having the installation carried out by a local service provider.
If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.
Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

Make sure that all required files for installation aare available and restart the installation. Error code: 0x8007000D, SHOULD ALL BE ON THE DISCALREADY?
Hi JRCLNSIN100,

· When exactly do you get this error message?
· What is the edition of Windows Vista, you try to install?
· How old is the drive that you are using?

To check if the disk is wrong, you will need to copy the contents of the DVD to the hard drive and try to install using that.
To perform a flat installation of Windows Vista, follow these steps.
Note The hard disk must have at least 3 GB of free space on the disk for the Windows Vista installation files. The hard disk must have at least 15 GB of additional disk space to install Windows Vista. For more information about system requirements for Windows Vista, see the Microsoft Web site at the following address:
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/products/windowsvista/editions/SystemRequirements.mspx
- Insert the Windows Vista installation disc.
- Start Windows Explorer.
- In Windows Explorer, click to select the drive for the Windows Vista installation disc.
- On the Edit menu, click select all.
- On the Edit menu, click copy.
- Click to select the hard disk you want to contain the flat installation files.
- On the file menu, point to new, click the folder, type Windows Vista Setupand then press ENTER.
- Double-click the Windows Vista Setup program, and then click Paste on the Edit menu.
- Double-click Setup.exe, and then follow the instructions that appear.

Some features of Windows are not available.
I have an IdeaPad p580 and I noticed that a few basic functionality of windows are not available. I use Windows 7 Home premium SP1 and everything else is usually straight out of the box. I guess these are the basic features of windows because I learn about them in an intro to the class of Windows operating system.
When I try to use secpol.msc in the start menu, windows cannot find it, and also when I try to encrypt a file or a file this option is grayed out. I think Veriface is the encrypt function creep, or another software that is preinstalled is to play with things.
No idea as to what could be the cause? Is my book misleading me, I may get to such a different way?

Repair Windows system is available on a disc of Windows 7 HP system recovery
Repair of Windows systems is available on the disk HP System Recovery DVD for Windows 7 and if so how I find the disk? I was looking for Windows Bootrec.exe!
Hello:
No, it isn't.
Simply make your own drive of W7 installation/repair by downloading the file from W7 ISO applicable from the link below for the version of W7 you have. Use the files in the list update to SP1 Media.
You can then use this tool to transfer the ISO on a DVD or 4 GB USB key file. The tool also performs the bootable media.
http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/HTML/pbP age. Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool
Start on the W7 installation screen, and then on the lower left side of the window "Install now", you will see the repair option.

Windows Defender is available for Microsoft Windows XP SP3?
I had an idea that she had been replaced by MSE
Yes, Windows Defender is available for Windows XP SP3:
Windows Defender
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/products/winfamily/Defender/default.mspxHowever, given that Windows Defender is an anti-spyware program and Microsoft Security Essentials is an anti-spyware and anti-virus program, the two must not be run at the same time due to possible conflicts - they would both attempt to do the same thing.

IObit Malware fighter detects the following: Trojan Dropper file in c:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\Visualisations\clarity.dll. I am unable to find any information present on internally. Is this a secure Microsoft file. Can you please help or advise?
Hi Lithium55,
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1: Try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
a. click Start, click run and then type cmd in the box start the search.
b. right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click run as administrator.
c. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
d. at the command prompts, the following line and press ENTER:
sfc/scannow
See also:
Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747
File system (CFS) Checker
Method 2: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.
The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
Important: While running scan on the hard drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive when scanning try to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.
Let us know if it helps.

Not all programs/Windows utilities are available for some reason any
original title: data backup
I have an old Windows XP home pc. Not all programs/Windows utilities are available for some reason any. Where can I find the Windows backup feature? I want to save my data files.
Windows backup is not installed by default on XP Home. You can install it if you have a genuine Windows XP CD or if you download the full network for SP2 installation file: http://www.ntbackup.us/Articles/install-ntbackup-xp-home.htm
I suggest, however, that you not install NTBackup, but rather get a cloning/disk imaging application. What follows is not free, but you get what you pay for. NTBackup has some limitations (on the one hand, you cannot use NTBackup to backup to the optical media). NTBackup also is not used in Vista or Windows 7, but after much kicking and screaming, Microsoft made a utility to restore NTBackup for Vista and Win 7 for computers with these operating systems could at least read BKF files created by NTBackup.
Acronis True Image Home
Paragon Backup & Recovery Home
Casper
Norton Ghost
O & OGhost was the gold standard for imaging software, then became much less desirable, as well as with many Symantec products. I understand that the current version is significantly improved. Of the foregoing do not all have the same feature sets, but all should do a good job of backup and restore. Some managers hard drive, such as Western Digital, do a version of one of these applications available for free if you use their readers.

Cannot save files Windows 7, sharing violation excel 2007 - have lost many hours of work it corrupts files after he supposedly has found and tried the same (copied) files on the machine xp without problem. Also sometimes on the stand alone machine without network and excel files generated on this machine. Any thoughts?
If you use Internet Security of Trend Micro with Windows 7, this combination is probably what is causing the problem.
To fix this, open the main Trend Micro Internet Security (or similar). Open the Virus & Spyware controls. Choose the Protection against viruses & Spyware; Click settings, then advanced settings. Uncheck the box next to 'save files before you try to remove the virus '.
