  Hey guys, I want to share files between windows 7 and windows XP. I don't want to put the password on my Windows 7 or Windows XP account. I am going on my Windows XP perfectly shared files from Windows 7, but I am not able to go on my files of windows 7, the cause of my XP he asks user name and password.   Windows 7 only WILL NOT allow you to share files without a password, it's all just a common sense safety requirement.  It of a very bad practice to run your Windows installations with a null value, a password, give your facility a valid password.

  The simplest around your problem is to create an account with the same names and passwords on each machine and so typed the password when the connection is too a problem allow AutoLogon on the machines.

• XP SP3, and Windows Live Mail, when I receive a file .htm as an attachment to an e-mail, it's a file 'blocked '. How can I prevent this from happening.

  Win XP SP3 and Windows Live Mail. I get emails from my office surveillance video. The e-mail has an attachment '.htm '. When I double click the file .htm in the email, it starts Internet Explorer 8 and must upload a short video clip and display it. The fly in the soup seems to be the fact that the .htm file is "locked".

  Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

  Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

  In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

  Discovery of plug in the network
  Open the files and printers sharing
  Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
  Plug the password protected sharing

  A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, running on Windows 7 sharing files and printer as above will take care of this for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

  (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

  C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

  Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
  Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

  Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

  E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory.

  F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  I don't think that WIndows 98 can join to a domain.  All versions of WIndows, you mention should be able to participate in a working group, however.

• Sharing files between Windows 7 and Windows XP suddenly stops working

  I have a set up working groups between Windows 7 and Windows XP computers.  I don't usually have a problem of file sharing, but suddenly XP computers do not connect to the server from Windows 7.  It will work for a while and then stops.  In order to solve this problem, I have to restart the server from Windows 7.  However, this problem occurs more and more and I would have preferred to find a permanent solution.  I checked all the normal solutions (IE firewall, no passwords, etc.), but I still have this problem.  I'm sure that all my settings are correct, as I am able to connect most of the time, but I know that there must be a solution out there to fix it permanently.

  I can't print a photo (JPG or JPEG file) using MS Office 10 Photoviewer and Windows 7. I followed the instructions in the chapter "How to print a photo" image is able to be consulted in the wizard, but it prints a blank page. I can print the picture using the browser Zoom of Canon.   Download and install a pack of codecs, such as K-Lite (Google for it). You can find THAT WMP can then read the file.

  Or

  Download and install a small program called Gspot (Google it)! Drag and drop in its window one of the files, you can't plzy. It will tell you which codecs are used. You can then download and install the only after doing a search on the web for it.

  If you don't no need for data and do not need to reverse, you can remove both by running the Disk Cleanup Wizard

• Cannot move files between Mac and Windows

  I'm Fusion 8.1.1 and OS X 10.11.5. I can no longer move files back and forth between Mac and Windows (7 x 32 or 7 x 34) while in a single window. In addition, the unit is not available (grayed out). I did a Windows Update for virtual machines two days ago and also a recent update of OS X 10.11.4 to 10.11.5 so I don't know if that's the problem. Everything seems to work another Mac running Fusion 8.0.2 OS x 10.11.5. Do not remember if I've recently updated Windows because the dates are meaningless to me.

  Advice as to why it happens? In the meantime, I'll try to recover a backup of virtual machine before my recent Windows upgrade.

  The fixed! I reinstalled VMware Tools on the W7x32 and W7x64 VMs and found unity and two-way drag and drop. I do not uninstall, just ran Virtual Machine > install VMware Tools in the menu bar. There was no option to reinstall VMware Tools, so I guess that the corrupted Windows VMware Tools update that was there before the update of Windows.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  The program worked perfectly in the past.

  I contacted Support Adobe this morning, and they were able to solve the problem.  It was difficult.

• VMX file is corrupted after installing Fusion 6 and Windows 7

  Please could someone help? I did the installation tonight of Fusion 6 and Windows 7 on a Mac with the Mavericks. Everything was fine until I stopped melting earlier. I went back to try to connect to windows, and I get corrupted file VMX. I looked in the Knowledge Base, and I tried the suggestions I could find, but now I'm afraid, I could really do more harm then good. Please any help would be appreciated.

  Have you tried to change the screen resolution in Windows?

  Or try activating / disabling the display settings in the Virtual Machine settings, uncheck 'Use the full resolution for the Retina display' and 'automatically adjust the size of user interface in Windows. Restart Windows, and then recheck the settings.
