I checked and found that my computer has stopped udating a couple of years. I tried to run Fixit MS that has not worked. Tried to reboot (BITS) and got ERROR 126 (module not found) I then followed the instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2700567 on how to reset the Windows Update components.     Hello glockrow ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about windows update problems and wanted to help.

I would that be able to say that updating to Win10 was an exact science where we know exactly how he does it, and what it should - but the flooding of this and other instances of Win10 problem after that problem indicates that, at best, we are all guessing.

So, I think, from what I've read and done on my PC, is that you SHOULD be able to avoid the problem of missing updates by updating using Win10 created using this MS link media: 10 Windows Installer using the media - Windows help authoring tool

After you create the DVD or USB, NOT boot from it. Instead, insert it into your PC and, if it does not auto-start, right click on the file setup.exe and run it.

HOWEVER - and this is important - PC Win7 have a rate low success updated Win10 without problem - primariluy lack of OEM Win10 drivers.  Typical problems include display artifacts (to cause to be obliged to use the driver for the card of Microsoft Basic), not wireless and touchpad problems.  The drivers Microsoft provides have only the most basic features, with none of the extras that the HP drivers bring to the stage.

It is further complicated by the function Win10 GoBack, whereby you can return to your original operating system, being known to be unreliable. So when your upgrade machine malfunctioning, only then you discover that you cannot return the machine to work, that you had originally!

You can protect yourself against ending up with a damaged machine - seriously considering using a free third-party product that works for airport Imaging/restoration - Macrium Reflect.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

So now you can recharge before with the upgrade, knowing that whatever happens, you will be able to return to your currently works in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Problems with services of automatic startup after Windows Update problem

These are probably related to many things I tried trying to solve the problem of Windows Update - until I found the answer to Fix It.  That fixed my Windows Update, but now I have these problems.

I tried to run the bat file that Sohail suggested in this thread: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/41f1d01e-e787-479b-83de-c66f40a23a37/
He ran with errors, so I suspect he undid some things and then they don't get put back.

Those that I know I need is:
    Windows Audio
    DHCP client

These two begin very well once the system is in place, but I have to do it manually.  They still claim to be automatic when I view in the Services management tool.

I also noticed that the following services are set to automatic but have not started either.  Is this a problem?
    Task Scheduler
    TCP/IP Net BIOS Helper
    Windows event log
    TPM Base Services

So, how do you restart automatically?

Problem posted in another thread to improved Performance.  Long story short - a repair settled with Vista DVD.   He fixed the problem of services, but the problem of Windows Update is back.

If I bought a used computer, no matter who previously owned the
first thing I could do with it would be to reinstall the operating
system itself. You don't know how the computer has been maintained,
which has been improperly installed, what's missing, what virus and
There may be spyware, etc. I would not live with someone
other errors and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc. and I
would not recommend anyone else to do.

If you reinstall Windows properly, you are playing with fire.

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Error notification of 'not connected' in taskbar & Windows Update problem

Under Windows 64 Pro System i5 Intel, discovered the RocketTab advertising program and removed with Spybot.  Next day when I started the system the internet icon in the task bar said "not connected - no available connection", also only shows 'unknown' network connections active in the centre network and sharing, but browser and more program online function still works.  But when I tried to start the Windows Update program, it wouldn't start.  Downloaded Windows Update repair program, it corrects an error in registry but said that he could not fix the program starts.

I have read several questions on this site that looked and tried a start-up manual of the SSTPS, but received the error 998, also receive the "error 1068: the dependency service could not start and failed to start the Remote Access Connection Manager Service", when you try to manually start the program RACMS.

Check all services "Remote Access Connection Manager": the following results

    i. Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service - error 998 does not start

    II. telephone - running

III. Plug n Play - running

IV. Remote Procedure Call (RPC) - running

    v. DCOM - running server process Launcher

VI RPC end point mapper. -during the execution

Ran Windows System File Checker and repaired some registry files but could not repair

    "webio.dll"

    folder Windows\System32

If this file is incorrectly routing memory of pagination for the SSTPS at startup and causes the 998 error that stops the remote access connection manager service to start and gives me startup problems with Windows Update Service (and a few other programs that use the same Protocol)

If it is then I know that I can replace manually, but I don't want any changes manually in the registry if there is a better solution.

Thanks in advance for any help I get.

Hello, thanks for the response, it is a stand-alone workstation, no programs have been installed, but looking from the log files, there is a block of HARD drive error which was autocorrected day before it took place.

So I just manually replaced the "webio.dll" file in the folder window\system32\ on the installation CD and he corrected two errors.

    Hey,.

I have problems with the automatic update on windows 7 64 bit. I bought this laptop (Toshiba Satellite L650 - 11Z) last July.

When the computer begins to do the automatic update, there a while and reports the problems mentioned in the subject.

I tried to find help for Windows support, but there is a statement, that if windows is installed in the laptop before buying it, I should consult the producer of the computer.

    Hello

I found this info on the 800706BE error:
+ Error 800706BA is a standard Windows error with many causes. It more often refers to Microsoft COM Internet Services (CIS) on the call of client DCOM Distributed Component Object Model (RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE); the RPC server is unavailable (Windows Event ID) 1722. That's when a RPC request expires and 800706BA error results. +

  • HP Compaq laptop: windows update problems

    Hello

Could someone help please, for the last few weeks where are updates of Windows security and I think that all is well I keep getting messages flashing up to say that updates could not be completed. This seems to be only on some of them, I'm not very tech savvy and have no idea how to do to fix this, it would be good if someone could tell me in simple terms how to overcome this problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi @Johnymac,

    Thank you for your response.

What is your specific model of HP Compaq laptop?

There is a link in my previous post to help you find this information.

If you have a firewall (firewall of Windows example) make sure that Windows update is on the white list. You can also try disabling the firewall and retry the Windows Update to see if that helps.  If it do not forget to reactivate it later.

Have you checked against viruses and malware?
