Files launch officer and strange Dameon worry me.

I have a Canon printer installed on two personal laptops and I noticed that a ScanAgent.app associated with this printer keepAlive value and are not like the other parameters of the printer that I have.  I post what I learned here yesterday I definitely wear my Tin Hat foil tonight.  In addition, there are some files here that Iv'e never heard speak.  Can someone please tell me that these are normal or a matter of concern. I have a text file that I can send it. Thank you in advance!

There are some printer Canon multifunction models that use an application called ScanGear MF for scanning. This app will install the Agent Canon MF Scan process. This process is used by the Canon to locate the Mac on the local network so that you can 'push' scan of the cannon for the Mac. According to the Canon model you have this is often achieved through the analysis > computer selection.

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

Go to this site WWW by Doug Knox:

    http://www.dougknox.com/

On the left, click on the Win XP fixes, file Association fixed and read the instructions at the top of the page.

Download the EXE File Association Fix on your desktop, unzip the file and apply it by following the instructions at the top of the page, then to restart and test.

Run the following scans for malware, and then fix any problems:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

  • Risks of IE settings: launch programs and dangerous files - enabled for Web Sites

    Hello

Could someone share with me knowledge about security settings in Internet Explorer?

    The parameter name is:

    Launch programs and dangerous files

I wonder what the risks are when this setting is "Enabled" for the Internet zone.

Our client has suffered recently with security warnings when you open a local shortcut. Targets of shortcuts even to local building Windows applications such as Wordpad. And it does not matter where the shortcut is present, whether on office files or local like c:\temp

The security warning is of type: publication could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?

The problem only started after the installation of Internet Explorer 11. Customers with the old version of IE does not suffer from this issue.

We have confirmed two work solutions:

    1. launch programs and potentially dangerous files - enabled for the zone Internet

    2. Add the registry entry:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Associations]

«LowRiskFileTypes "=".avi;.» beats;. com;. cmd;. exe;. htm;. HTML;. lnk;. MPG;. MPEG;. MOV;. MP3;. MSI;. M3U;. rar;. Reg;. txt;. vbs;. WAV;. zip; »

But we would need to know the security risks for the launch of programs and dangerous files - enabled for the Internet zone.

Somehow, I'm not able to find a good article that describes this feature and risk.

Or can you suggest an alternative? Could this be caused also by a patch?

    Thanks in advance

  • Special file in Open Office and judged by default.

I am writing my thesis and have inadvertently cloned several copies, I need to get rid of! But this isn't my main concern, here and now.

Having searched every inch of space on my cell phone (or so it seemed to me!) all that could be found were copies that were 2 days of work obsolete.

A few mins.ago, without really thinking, I clicked on Open Office, and then on a file without name and Heavens to Betsy! There was the updated version of my work filed under default.

I do not understand, that is how he got there, what it means and how can I prevent it from happening again? By the 3way, I had stored on an ankle but that also didn't have the old version of the file.

    Any advice welcome!

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums.

I see you've found an error "file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action" when you click office and recent places.

    1. Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
    2. What is the full error message?

I suggest you to report to us the screenshot of the Advanced window so that we can understand what exactly the situation.

    See:
Use SkyDrive download collected files and post screen shot/image
    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02dB-4665-993a-08d865088d65

The average while you can try the following steps and check if the error reappears.

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

Start the computer in safe mode and check the number.

Some options, including the mode safe mode, start Windows in a limited State, where only the essential is started. If a problem doesn't reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers and services as a possible cause.

Follow this link provided below to start your computer in safe mode.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

    Step 2:

Put the computer to boot and check if the problem persists.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 3 of the KB article provided above.

Method 2: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: During the scan of the hard drive if bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair this sector, all available on which data may be lost.

    It will be useful.

Back with the details so that we can help you further. We also indicate the result of the suggested steps.

  • Have Microsoft Office and Open Office installed, try to create a new file, but the Open Office program is not on the shortcut menu

I have a Windows 7 computer with Microsoft Office and Open Office loaded on the computer.  When I'm in a folder, select the file menu and select new to create a new file, I offer myself to all programs open Office but only Microsoft Excel from Microsoft Office programs.

It started only recently and I don't know what I did to bring about change.  Previously I was offered all Microsoft Office programs.

Original title: new offers of file

    Hi Cecil,

I suggest you to run the program install uninstall fixit in the link, and then uninstall all Open Office.

This fixit will not only uninstall the software, but also delete the related to the software registry keys.

    (b) when requested, select the option: detect problems and apply the patches for me (recommended).

    c. click Next.

    d. select the Option: Uninstall.

    e. in the non-exhaustive list, choose the Open Office software and click next to Uninstall.

    f. Once done, restart the system and check.

    Method 2:

After you uninstall Open Office, try to repair Microsoft Office and check.

    a. click Start , then type appwiz.cpl in the start search box and press ENTER.

    (b) this will open the window, uninstall a program . Select Microsoft Office , and then click on change.

    c. follow the instructions on the screen and then repair Microsoft Office.

    d. restart the computer once the repair completed and check if that helps.

    Method 3:

  • My office and my files are empty.

My office and my files are empty. When I tried to replace some files, I was told that they already existed as it seems they are always there, but they are hidden and I can't get back them. No one knows what happened or what I can do to restore?

    Hello

A handy utility to view all the files on your PC is called Commander free of charge, on the link below, because it displays the files that the operating system normally hides and has a search function.

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/PHP/download.php?id=107872&a=7122339&tag=601108&loc=10

It is a zipped file.  If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip , which can be used to open it so that you can run the Setup program.

When it is installed, run Commander for free and see if your missing files are now visible.  If they are, right click the folder they are in and select Properties, clear the check box of the "Hidden" box and click on apply to save the changes.  Then close free Commander and check if the folder and the files it contains are now visible in Windows.

It would not seem like an audio CD, as a drive in this way is a data disc when it contains mp3 files. You would need to access the file menu in iTunes, manage files here. If you manually manage music, you will need to access it as a regular folder on your computer. In iTunes, go to file > add file to library, and select individual files.

  • problem installing Freespire (Linux): & quot; / flashplayer - install: no file or directory and quot;

I'm a bit new to Linux, and my friend gave me a copy of freespire to try. So far I managed to install Mozilla Firefox successfully, which was surprisingly easy.

At the moment, I can't install Adobe Flash Player, but... I'm just following these instructions on the download page:

    . tar.gz installation

    1. click on the 'download. tar.gz"link. A dialog box will appear asking you where to save the file.
2 keep the. tar.gz file to your desktop and wait for the file to download completely.
3 unzip the file. It will create a directory called install_flash_player_9_linux.
    4. in the terminal, navigate to this directory and type. / flashplayer - install to run the installation program. Click on enter. The installation program will ask you to close your browser (s).
    5. once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser. To check, launch Mozilla and choose Help > about Plug-ins from the browser menu.

I followed the steps successfully up to now, but for some reason I can't get Konsole to recognize/run the flashplayer - install... After you follow the instructions for step 4, I get the following response:

    bash: ~ / install_flash_player_9_linux # /flashplayer - install
bash: /flashplayer - install: no such file or directory

Which is strange, because I'm looking for good home. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, or it could be the cause?

  • Several records office and Docks?

    Hello

I'm a freelancer working as musician and software developer.

It would be incredible well if we had Independedn Desktops (spaces) included all the files it contains and dock items.

When making music I don't need VirtualHostX, Atom, Navicat however when coding I have no logical need X or a Studio.

It would also be good to have the records office separated for each space or persona!

Is it possible to have independent office files and Docs already?

Because the files are not related to users and desktop computers, this is not possible.

The only solution would be to have multiple users and then quick switch between them using the username at the top right of the screen.

What you are asking for would require a separate "user" for each workstation, which means that each office will have its own file structure, and it's own OS.

  • Programs disappear from my office and the program from the list but still appear in the control panel

I use Window XP Home Edition and lately, I've noticed that programs have disappeared off the coast of my office and in the list of programs without allow me to delete them.  Firstly, this came to light when I went to start my virus scan and impossible to locate the icon or in the list of all the programs, but it is in the status bar at the bottom right of the screen. I have since discovered that other software have disappeared and when I will remove and reinstall them using the Control Panel can't do.  And when I tried to back up my data when it came time to burn data on a cd, I got a message asking me to insert a disk. Yes, he asked for a floppy and I couldn't have it burn the disk that was selected at the beginning of the backup.  A couple of days, I got the "blue screen" a couple of times and the computer turns off automatically. Oh yes, one more thing restore to a previous period will not fix the situation. Can someone tell me what is happening?

    Hi LarryFuller,

It seems that your computer has been infected by the virus or malware. Scan your computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to get rid of the same.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
