Files search results

After performing a search, the left pane of folders is positioned in the temporary folder to search down results.  Is it possible to avoid this and let folders not affected?

No, unfortunately, it is the way it is prgrammed and it is hardcoded and there is no feature that I know to change (or doesn't in this case) the repositioning of the files Panel.  It happens because it is positioned on the right this folder (as it should).  It's a minor annoyance with the fact that will have to learn to live.  The amazing part is no doubt believe that it was a good idea when it was developed - so although they don't even consider adding some configuration options (or maybe that's what happened when they tried and figured it was acceptable or even preferable and not worth any effort to change any other thing).  Consider yourself lucky - in my case, there are a dozen foldersunder the folder temporary search results which are records of actual file and I can't understand how to remove them from the list without deleting the folders (or prevent them from continuing to add to the list because I'm not sure what I am doing happens - but I'll deal with it when I have the time to examine the problem).

I hope that this same help if this isn't the answer you wanted to hear.  There are MANY variations of the search in Vista, but desired was not one of them, and I sincerely doubt that they will put any effort in changinng it.  They aren't accepting bug or suggestion for Windows Vista reports more (I just checked) so we can't even report it.

Good luck!

So, how to direct the results of a search of file from Vista?

    Thank you!

    Hello INOV8TN,

There is no ability to export file built-in to Windows Search, but it is
easy to copy search results and then paste them into a word processor or a
    worksheet:

After performing a search in Windows Explorer, press on Ctrl + A to select all
items in the right pane. Now, press and hold down the SHIFT key, and then
Right click on your selection. In the context menu, choose "copy as .
    Path'.»

This will paste the results into a spreadsheet for more
the treatment. Spreadsheets can also save data in text files or in
    other formats such as CSV.

  • Cannot delete the file search results

I uninstalled a program but the files in the folder that has been deleted appear always in my indexed search results, I want to delete them, but it says the file "Does not exist" which is the reason why I want to remove in the first place... because it no longer exists, why have it appear in my results. These files will leave eventually or will they have a permanent dwelling home in my research indexed.

    Hi Gamemaster406,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.
To resolve this problem, you will need to index your computer.
Click Start > type "index" > click on indexing on search results Options.
Then click on advanced > click on rebuild.
    This will re-index your computer.

Post back with the results please
    Thank you

  • How to remove all kinds extensios in search result

    Hi all,

In "crawler.dat" of the file in the session 'exclusion file name default suffix list', I add other extensios:
    RX_BOUNDARY (?i:(?:\.jpg)|(?:\.jpeg) ... (?:\.css)|(?:\.js))$
However, these files are shown in search result of SES. I would like to delete *.js files search results, for example.

    How would I do that?

    Kind regards

No, they are going to get deleted. It uses a background task to do this, I believe, so it will take time before they are all deleted from the database.

  • Why can I not see the emails of the search results in the files in offline mode?

When you perform a search in Thunderbird, if the result is in a folder offline, clicking on that result to view the entire email will show nothing. This "bug" has been present for as many years as I use Thunderbird (a very long time).

    1 create a folder offline.
    2. drag a bunch of emails from a direct IMAP folder to your folder in offline mode.
    3. perform a search that will give you results from this folder in offline mode.

You will be presented with a list of snippets of email, but no result that resides in a folder in offline mode will be completely empty when you click it. The conversation list and the content of the email will be empty.

Menu (Alt + H) help > troubleshooting information
    Click the display folder
    Close Thunderbird.
Remove the global messages file - db.sqlite
    Restart Thunderbird.

I repeat: Thunderbird successfully research and shows me a message body my search results - even from local folders. He shows me the same partial email bodies. It is when I click on a result that nothing happens.

Probably because the index is not received the message of movement and is looking in the old location.

  • column of file missing in the bookmarks search results

In the library of all bookmarks page, when you search for bookmarks, the returned list does not record information. When I find dead links, I would go to this bookmark folder to see if there are any more stale bookmarks that are. I guess that more people use tags as the folders and subfolders to sort their bookmarks? For example, under Science, I have astronomy, physics, etc.

  • Save "Search results" in a file?

When editing in the CVI, I often usefully copy content from "Search results" in a window of change so that I can change/analysis/filter/sort information.  I wish I could do the same thing in the TestStand sequence editor.  Is a temporary file that is generated when the TestStand search results are displayed?  If Yes, where?  If not, is it possible to send the results to a text file?  Thanks for any help.

  • If I delete a file in the search results pane, am I actually delete the file or just the result of search?

I'm a bit confused about the Windows XP search results pane.  I need to winnow down remove some of the documentation noted that the results do not apply.  If I remove them in the search results pane, am I actually remove the document from the PC or just delete the search result and leave the document in its original file?

    Hello

You delete the file. Try it yourself...

    • For example, create a document with a unique name (say qwerty987.doc) word
    • Search all files and folders to qwerty987
    • Right-click on the file in the search results, and then click Open containing folder
    • Research of two results of window and the window of the folder containing the visible file (resizing and movement to achieve, as appropriate)
    • Remove the test file in the search results window and watch it disappear from the other window too

  • Windows Search - Outlook files in the search results does not open

The Outlook files that appear in the Windows search results won't open - nothing happens by double click or right click / Open.

    Does anyone have a solution?

SOLVED! A glance at ProcMon when double click on an email search result showed me which file it was looking for and what file was not finding:

    Open Regedit:

    Find the key:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{00062FFF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\9.4\0\win64\

    TO:
    C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft Office\Office14\msoutl.olb

  • How can I stop Windows Vista Search Results including files that have already been deleted?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium Version 6.0.  When I use the windows search feature (navigate from the 'new' start icon) search results include files that have been deleted.  This is quite annoying because it dilutes the value of the search result.

Does anyone have a solution to this?  I have seen similar posts but no real solutions... any help would be much appreciated!  THX

  • When I look for a file in Win Explorer, I get a list of files in the search results. But some of the files seem to be missing. I get a message that the directory is not found when I try to open the search results.

I wonder if what's on my hard drive and if what Win Explorer is on my hard drive are two different things.

If I do a search in Win Explorer to "purple", I get a number of results.
(To search for a file, I am in the word "Purple" in the search field in the upper right Win Explorer and pressing the "Enter" button).

There are a couple of JPG files that I wonder about the search results.
    One example is called "purple_flowers.jpg".
When I double-click this file in the search results to open it, my paint program opens and gives me a message that the directory is not found. If I use MS Paint to try and open it by double-clicking on the file and selecting "open with...". MS Paint", I get a message that the directory is not valid.

The location of the directory on the error message is the blue 'Images' folder for my user. But, when I opened this file, I don't have a file with that name in this directory. The same thing happens with another JPG file, called "octopus.jpg" when I search the word 'Octopus '.

Is this something messed up between what I have on my hard drive and think what Win Explorer is on my hard drive?
    How can I fix?
Something must be reset in Win Explorer?

I could have the JPG files with these names at the same time. I had a large library of images for a project, but I deleted it.
(I tried to turn on the option to show hidden files in this directory, but that did not help).

    Imane:

I thank very you much for that answer.
But it seems to have stumbled on the solution:

    Strangely, this worked:

    (Maybe you know why).

I moved the files in my blue images folder in another folder, delete the folder images blue, emptied the Recycle Bin and rebooted my computer.

When my computer has finished its startup routines, my folder of photos blue was there! And he had the shortcut to the folder 'Sample Pictures' inside.

When I searched "the Octopus" and "purple", I no longer saw these JPG files in the search results.

I don't really know what happened, but I thought that after these results just in case someone else knows this.

I'll read and watch in your information. I don't want to know more about what is happening in my computer.

  • Windows 7 - Windows Explorer - how auto-développez files left panel after search results?

Under XP, after that I selected a search results in Windows Explorer then right-click and choose OPEN the FOLDER CONTAINING files of the left always extended panel, showing the target folder and display the full path to it.  Windows 7 shows that the disk in the left panel.  Which forces me to click, click, click, click to open the entire disk path down to the folder concerned targets.

The same is true when I click a shortcut icon in my taskbar to the subfolder of a subfolder subfolder subfolder.  The left panel shows only the drive with no subfolder path.

How can I automatically expand all folders by car down to the target subfolder?

I found my answer in the menu bar of Windows Explorer, tab tools > Options.

  • Search results not Google Reader files in Windows

Basically, the Google Drive folder is synchronized on my data partition. The files are present on my HARD drive, the entire folder is indexed, but nothing inside it comes back in my Windows search results.

I tried to rebuild the index from scratch, unindexing and in ensuring that the folder on the drive reindexing it all permissions under this link:

Windows 7 Index Search does not work in Google Drive folder - Super user

In addition, "Allow files in this folder to have contained indexed" is enabled.

I had this problem in Windows 8.1 as well, but I forgot how I fixed it.

    Any ideas?

  • W7pro search results shows "folder path" not "file path".

When you search for a file name in W7pro, the only option to enter the directory in which the files are is "path." This does not include the name of the folder in which the file - is located only the "folder in which the file containing the file ' was found, that is to say, it's a directory level short to identify the location of the actual file."

When there is more than one folder in this location, you must open all folders to actually find the file.

If all you want to do is make sure that a file is where it is supposed to be (and nowhere else), then the search is useless. If you want to retrieve or delete the file, not sure where exactly it came from, or if it is the body that should be deleted.

What is needed is "file path" in the display of search results. This isn't one of the options for formatting the display of search results columns.

How this is achieved in W7pro?

I have it. The display column was actually labeled "file", not "the folder path '.

'the folder path' actually does not display the complete address of the directory for the files in question.

Can't imagine what that would be the default setting, except to confuse and confound the use...
