Windows Mail blocks certain types of file attachments that are commonly used to spread e-mail viruses, such as files with the following file name extensions: .exe, .pif and .scr files. IfWindows Mail blocks an attachment in an e-mail message, the information bar displays a message letting you know he did and list the attachment that has been blocked.

I know that I need programs such as Word files .doc to open .doc attachments, but above characters fat not yet past.

Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button, all programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.

Click on the Tools menu and then click Options.

Click the Security tab, clear the do not allow attachments to the opening or recording that could potentially be a virus check box, and then click OK.

1: you get the message that Windows has blocked access to the attachment, or it does not work? All file extensions or part?

2: tools | Options | Send. The corresponding checkbox is checked? Note that only 29 addresses are remembered. See for more information.

The error message says to "create an association in the.

    Two points:

    1. you must first be sure that you have an appropriate program installed
to open a file of this type. You have PowerPoint installed? Or the
Free PowerPoint Viewer? Otherwise, you must get one of these or some
    other compatible program.

    2. Once you are sure to have an appropriate program installed for
This type of file, you must ensure that the association for this file
type is properly configured. If following step 1 above means that you
install a program, it will probably set up the association for

If you have to set up the association yourself, in my opinion, will

  • Send Audio files in Windows Mail

I could not send an audio file to WAV (62.8 MB), MP3 format (5.7). Am I limited in Windows Mail? Is there a way to get around this?

You are not limited in WinMail, but you are by your server. 62.8 MB is enormous not to mention sending it's code. That triggers the size by a third, and now it's a 83.7 MB file. A common limit is 25 MB, and many Internet service providers have a smaller limit.

Download the file on a site like Photobucket or SkyDrive and just email a link to it.

  • Compact file of Windows mail

I have windows vista, after compact my windows mail, my subfolders under Inbox disappeared.  How can I find them?  I tried the system restore but it doesn't work, I looked in the box of reception, windows mail, microsoft, appdata... but they are not too

    Thank you

    [Transferred from Internet Explorer]

The files you need to find are eml files and they can be hidden.  Go to control panel | Folder options | View and uncheck Hide extensions of known file types and enable the display of the hidden files and folders.  Look for the drive to *.eml.  The default location for the message store is C:\users\[username]\AppData\Microsoft\Windows mail.  See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm

See if you can find them then.  When WinMail compact, it compact only the database which does contain all the messages, so it's rare to lose messages.  If that happened, I'd be suspicious of any anti-virus software you use (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

  • Files from Windows Mail & Recovery?

I am trying to recover data from a Vista PC mail using the mail window.  I have access to the drive, but how and where the e-mail data is stored?  How can I copy these data and import into W7 WLM?  Thanks for any help?

By default, Windows Mail stores its data in C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail.  Enable the display of hidden files to see.

To import into WLM, press ALT + F , click on import > Messages >, Windows Mail , and then navigate to this folder. Boulder computer Maven

  • Where are the files of Windows Mail messages and contacts stored in Windows 7?

I backed up a Windows 7 system and restored to factory State by doing a restore of the system because the system has been seriously infected by viruses.  I couldn't do the export before the system recovery.

Now, given the Windows 7 system restore brand new I am trying to restore Windows Mail account.  In fact, I can't tell if it was a front window Mail or Windows Live Mail.  I don't know if the locations of the files for messages and contacts of these two letters are different.

When I go to c:\users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\, I don't see Windows Live Mail but Windows Mail.  So does that mean it was a Windows Mail system not a before Windows Live Mail System.  I copied the files saved in Windows Mail system on the same path directory in the newly recovered system, but it doesn't seem to make a difference when I open Windows Live Mail, which is the only e-mail program on the newly recovered Windows 7 system.

Can someone confirm the locations of the files to messages and contacts, Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail in the operating system Windows 7 home.  Can I just copy the files on?  With Outlook 2007 and 2010, she usually works if I simply copy the files or import from the saved file.  Also should which file names be so that I can easily identify them?  Are the mail accounts and password setup to re - enter as Outlook 2007/2010 or are stored in the files I can simply copy to the new system?

Usually, not necessarily always, this has to do with Internet Explorer (or your main browser that you use) that has all of its default settings enabled.

    To check that...

Start button... Default programs... Set your default programs... column on the left, click on Internet Explorer or your main browser.

Back he said... This program has all its flaws?

If not, click on choose by default for this program... He's to tick the boxes below the list... Click Svae when finished.
