Filtering of noise - OR 9361

Hello everyone,

I use a NI 9361 module to measure the speed of rotation of a shaft that rotates through an electric motor.

I am faced with loud noises because of this electric motor; When I run it, my meter directly measure frequencies up to 1 MHz, even when my tree is not running. I can't see the same phenomena when I'm looking at the edge of counting results...

I tried to use the pulse width filter inside my Labview application to filter the signal but I couldn't find anything sufficient.

Anyone who has ever faced with this kind of question, and if so, is there a solution to cope?

I thank of altogether.

You use a shielded sensor connection?  You can also try to raise the level of signal on the 9361 threshold if you CSR.

    Hello!

I'm recording ultrasonic vocalizations of rat at 1 ms/s using an acquisition of data PCI-6132.  One of my colleagues is ultrasound analysis of data from the records and asked me to apply a filter on the signal, as it is registered.  He asked the specifications was to "filter noise on 200kHs, with a steep slope.  I have no training in hearing analysis, so I have no idea what he's talking about, or how to impliment it.  Can anyone interpret this and help me understand this?  Thank you!

When I had to filter signals in LabVIEW, I had success with the express VI, called "filter". You can find it in the following range: "treatment-> conditioning of waveform of the Signal-> Filter.VI.

Before we begin, I noticed that your condition is to filter "noise more of 200 kHz. This means filter any more than 200 kHz or just 'noise '?

If you filter any more than 200 kHz, there are several parameters that you need to pay to reach your goal. Double-click the Filter.VI once you have he fell on the block diagram. The first thing you need to set is the same type. If you want to filter all above 200 kHz and spend everything below 200 kHz, you want a low-pass filter.

Since this is a low-pass filter, you will have only a cut-off frequency. It's 200 kHz is your case, since you want to spend everything below 200 kHz.

For a slope steep, I like to use the elliptical topology. You can start with an order of 3 to see if it produces the answer you need.

I would recommend search filters on a site like Wikipedia, if this does not produce the results you need. Using this VI will take you where you need to go, but you may need to adjust the settings based on your signal. However, I think this will at least get you started in the right direction!

  • Filtering of noise signal to acquire sound

On the labview 2011 I'm aquireing a sound of a microphone and the signal is chart and I can see the time 0 a small peak every time if it is solid or not and I have no idea where its origin or how to get rid of.

After manipulation of the signal to try to get rid of noise signals and background this signal as well as my signals wanted to turn into a huge spikes which is a problem because I am trying to use it to acquire the location of a sound source by the time between these points later, when I have more than micophones but it keeps be wrong this time epi 0 as a sound when there is an error

What is a single-point peak? If so, it's just to say the part of the program to ignore the time value = 0 (or replace with the value for the second time).

  • NI9213 Thermocouple measurement noise AC

I use a cRio with various thermocouple C-Modules NI9213. For my application, I need thermocouples not be safe and be very close (same body) sources and AC cables. When I read the thermocouple values that are close to the AC cables, I see noise sinusoidal structure in different frequencies (according to my sampling frequency). I use high-resolution scanning engine (mode high speed gave a louder signal). I would appreciate any help on this matter. Should I ground my cRio in a particular way? My last resort will be to sample at a higher frequency and the average of the values (assuming 60 Hz noise, I want to sample at least 120 Hz).

    Thank you!

Thank you very much for your answers.

I had to settle for ' high resolution ' on the NI9213s and its rejection of 60db 60 Hz with some 'best practices' noise when the wiring of the AC power lines and thermocouples. However, the noise is not completely filtered. Looking around for other data acquisition devices (no OR in particular) I found modules thermocouple with at least 120db 60 Hz noise rejection. I personally use another provider of data acquisition with a thermocouple module that filters the noise of 60 Hz as a charm. I wonder why limited filtering on the NI9213.

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended missing filters

About half of the filters are missing. The only listed are NEA dynamic filters, blur, noise, pixelation, sharpness, aesthetic and other. Sometimes the rest appears when I open Photoshop, but most of the time they are just missing entirely. I tried to use all modes of RBG and tried 8, 16 and 32 bits and its all the same. I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop. I made sure the menu has the default value of Photoshop. Nothing works. Help, please!

Install CS4 on top of your current installation, and then apply the update. CS4 should then be set and activated and your preferences and even installed add-ons. If you do not have your installation CD, you can download cs4 CS4 download products and updates of productupdates.

  • What channel configuration should I use: nickname?

I have three terminals of signal; a, a V0 and a V1, with V0 and V1 measured relative to the ground terminal common ground.  There is some contamination of noise in the environment, so I can't ignore the field common and just wire V0 as the Center wire and the V1 as the "field..." I need the wire Earth for the shield.

I want to measure V1 - V0.  I am writing a custom c# application.  It is important to keep as quiet as possible readings and keep the calculations as simple as possible (I know, use C++, not c#, not my choice).

I think that my best option is to configure A0 to read V0 and A1 to read V1, as signals Pseudo-differentiels and then in my find code V1 - V0.  Is this correct? I read the post about the configuration of terminal on the Web site of NOR, but I want to just make sure.

This perhaps relates to the question, but maybe not:

I use an acquisition of data USB-9234.

I don't need the sensor excitation.

V0 and V1 are band including 10 Hz - 1 kHz with analog filters, low noise (slot 50uV), and the signal of interest is band including 65 Hz - 120 Hz.  Voltage max gnd - V0, V1 - V0 and V1 - gnd are all +/-5V.

The signals are low impedance (~ 10ohms).

    Thanks for your thoughts!

    Hey jcsquire!

You are using a configuration entry Pseudo-differentiels if you want to reduce your sound.  Username is very hard to minimize the ground loops that lead to more specific measures.  With the help of this configuration, I think you would have to measure both independently and deduct out them then maintain your sheilding with the soil line.

In summary, it looks like you know what you're doing.

  • Butterworth amplitude

I generates a white noise of an amplitude of 100.  Then I go through a Butterworth bandpass filter with 50 and 150 for the high and low frequency bandpass settings.  I find myself with a noise filtered with an amplitude of 20 (more or less).

Why the filter reduces the amplitude of the filtered noise?  I noticed that if I increase the range of bandpass parameters (for example, 50 to 500), amplitude reduction is a little less.

I tried other filters and Chebychev seems to be a little better, but it does still not anywhere close to the amplitude of the original signal.

I admit that my knowledge of signal processing is limited.  Can someone help me with this problem?  Is there a setting that will give me the best results?

    Thanks for your replies.

I was under the impression that white noise with an amplitude of 10 when it is passed through a filter would result in filtered amplitude noise 10.  But now I see why I was wrong.  White noise is the sum of the sine waves of different frequencies;  for example, when you filter on certain frequencies, amplitude (which is a sum) will be lower.

And thanks for the tips on the standardization of the amplitude after filtering.  That's what I'll do.

  • No audio; possible driver issue. "There is no available mixer devices."

I can not play sounds on my computer: no CD, no mp3s, not iTunes, no system sounds, nothing. When I try to open my sound engineer (Volume control), it gives me the following error message:

"There is no mixer device. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click Printers and other devices, and then click Add Hardware. This program will be closed. »

I tried adding hardware, uninstall and re-install my drivers, check the physical connections and power cords, restart, and ensure all relevant in services.msc is set to automatic. Nothing did. Many devices (under audio, video and game controllers) device displays Manager works not properly: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers... SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio, etc. When I check the properties of these devices, it gives the following message appears in the status of the device (general tab):

"A driver (service) for this device has been disabled.  Another driver can provide this functionality. (Code 32) »

They are activated, the only problem seems to be one or more drivers. But the update does not resolve the problem and troubleshooting of Windows doesn't help.

I worked with someone in the Bleeping Computer to remove malicious software, and we have identified a few days that my machine was clean. The tech who was helping me said the audio problem is a separate issue from malware, but I suspect that the malware could have damaged something or change my settings. I thought it might have been accidentally caused by my use of AutoRuns (a few hours before I noticed the sound problem and in the middle of the 9-day process to remove malware) to disable malicious programs which were auto-loading, but I can't find anything that looks related to the sound that is not set to automatic loading at startup.

I noticed in AutoRuns, that the aeaudio.sys driver is set to auto-charge but it says "File not found" in the Path column. I checked the system32 folder and it wasn't there at the beginning, but then I found the file in two other folders and copied in system32, yet AutoRuns still says it is not found. I tried to reboot to see if that would refresh but he says always not found. Also, I can't see how a problem with a driver (aeaudio.sys) that filters background noise (during the recording of the sounds, right?) can knock out all my audio.

I have studied this problem for days and that you can find no answer to the problem. Help, please.

    msecox,

Bad news: the problem is hardware, not software. I tried to install a new sound card, but it turned out that the part of my motherboard that sound control has been fried. Also, you may want to replace the sound card before condemning the audio controller. If this fails, your best bet is to replace all of your PCs, because a new motherboard will cost almost $200 (in addition to work if you can not install it yourself).

  • DSC-hx200v for remote usb firmware update?

The DSC-HX200v is a nice camera, but it has some annoying features.

Top of my list is unable to disable filtering of noise - it can be set to high or low, but even 'low' causes really ugly image artifacts.  For detail work, it would be preferable to disable filtering altogether in the device and use image processing software to clean the sensor noise.

Second on my list is the lack of a remote - camera trigger must have at least one command trigger USB, or a more complete control APIs, to allow a laptop computer collect the series Time lapse.

My third wish list is trivial - adds an average speed (4 to 5 fps) burst mode.  I had many opportunities when 10 FPS is too fast and 2 images per second is far too slow - intermediate dieting (or the ability to set the value of fps as you can the shutter speed and ISO) would be just the ticket.

So my question is if Sony ever plans to publish an update of firmware for this device, and if so, what changes are planned?

    Hi Tad,

These are good options. Firmware updates are released frequently to provide enhancements to existing features. Our engineers regularly focus on these positions. I don't know that they're going to try to incorporate these options in future models.

  • Random EM noise filtering of a big motor 3 phases?

    Hi all

First of all, an overview of the system: we have a system for the acquisition of data running Labview, two cards PCI-6225, a PCI-6224 and a card PCI-6254.  All connections made sink SCB-68 terminals.  All power supplies for instrumentation and the series through closets DAQ isolation transformers.  In addition, most of the lines are the lines of the shielded twisted pair and are run from the test table for blocks of DAQ connection through conduit to the ground. The signals that we have problems with are measured to 1kS/s per channel on the cards PCI-6225.

In normal operation, the signals are clean.  Where we have problems, it's with a test set, we need to run where we use a big motor 3 phases used to drive an engine test of rotating machines.  The table is bolted to the same large metal table as the test instrumentation.  When the engine turns, our data own nice becomes a fuzzy caterpillar in anger.  The noise does not appear to be a specific frequency and in raw data, it appears as a single-point, relatively high amplitude blips.  I would say overall amplitude is 10 s of mVs.

A low-pass filter of material removed a large amount of noise, but we do not have enough hardware filters for each channel.  I tried to use a software filter (Butterworth with entries that are similar to the hardware filters) and he smooth to blips and decreases their overall amplitude, but is not nearly as effective as the filter material.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi all

I wanted to just give some closure on it.  After trial and error and a lot of phone calls to businesses VFD, we have reduced the noise source to the inverter.  The difficulty (and more than 98% of the noise is now gone) is a Sin on the output wave filter (go through the engine) and a reator on the entry (from the power of the installation).  If you want not spent a lot of money on a filter air sin, just put a reactor on the output of the inverter reduces the noise nearly 80%.

Best regards and thanks for the help!

  • How to calculate the signal / noise from the graph?

In my current project, I read a periphera voltage signal. the signal lead noise even after filtering.  So, to identify the necessary data, I averaged the signal.

I have attached the file with an image of graphics. In this graph, the recorded data are drawn black and medium online graph is plotted in red. Now, I have to calculate the ratio of signal to noise to specify with these peak values. How to do?

As the signal passes through zero, be careful in the way you set the signal / noise.  For sinusoidal signals, that ratio is defined as the RMS value of the noise (the signal with the desired sinusoidal signal deleted) divided by the effective value of sinusoidal component.

First of all I would like to subtract the average value of the raw signal.  The difference is the noise.  You can set the signal / noise.  A RMS calculation might work.  If you have a mathematical model for the desired signal, a fitting for this model can be useful too.

  • weak continuous signal low-pass filtering

I get continuous signals to the NI USB-6259 of multifunction DAQ device is acquiring its signals to 1000 Hz. The rate of data acquisition can be changed through the GUI, but that

is for later analysis. The main issue here is labwindows offers many options for filtering. I was wondering if someone could recommend the best option for a LP

Filter on a frequency of 50 or 60 Hz. are there - it implemented an easy way to put this. Basically, I want to filter the data acquired and then store it in the file that is currently present.

I was also wondering if material 6259 filtering, if it's a better road then should I use the filter material to clean noise signals?

    mdmorar,

The reason why you get this error is the low-pass filter property is is not supported on the USB-6259. You will need to use a filter software for your application, because there is no low-pass filter in the material. If you look under the range of libraries in CVI and select Signal Processing > IIR digital filters > features of filtering in a single step, it will give you options for different low-pass filters. They have some low-pass filters here that should help you.

  • noise of 9205

Hello everyone, I'm having a problem of balancing slot chassis and signals acquisition facility space.  Systems cRIO I built in the past used maps 9219 universal to acquire my signals analog 4-20mA.  However, I found that to 4 channels per card cost per channel is stiff and frankly I'm running out of space in our applications.  I decided to experiment with the help of the 9205 in our chassis compact daq and have found that if I sample at 1 kHz, then take an average I get not too bad at reading.  My system is not high speed.  I update my screen at a frequency of 10 Hz and record data as slow as 5 min.  I tried to take a middle run of 100 samples on 24 channels, but I think it's eating all my memory.

In short I'm looking for stable values that I am getting with the 9219 but using the 9205.  For my son, I'm running both the chassis and the sensors on the same diet, and the signals are then put through a shunt resistance (resistance of 250 ohms accuracy).  4-20mA cables are protected, and the cables 1 - 5V to the card are only a foot or two of time so there should not be enough length to pick up a lot of noise signal.  The measurement mode is NSRE, as all my reasons are common, so it does not appear that there should be no difference between taking a differential concentration or the NSRE.

I look forward to any input that could be provided.

    Thank you.

I'm a fan of sampling rates, filtering, then downsampling and only output of the values at a low rate.  For your request, I would consider sampling at 1 kHz, using a low-pass filter at 1 Hz, and then save the data at 10 Hz.  You get a nice and smooth signal even when there is a lot of high frequency noise.  Usually it's on the FPGA.  (Oops, just noticed that you use cDAQ.  Always easy to do with the PC.)

I also would investigate the material aspect of things.  I always get confused about entry to use mode, so I often try several and figure on which one works better.  Maybe combine the signals as a bonus to see if it works better.  If so, something is configured wrong for only configuration is complete.

  • Audible clicks of noise generation/acquisition vi

    Hey everybody!

    Fast facts:

I'm doing a vi to perform measurements of room acoustics.  The goal is to apply white noise octave band filtered in a room until a level of balance is reached, then turn off the sound source and measure the decay of the sound field in the room.  So, my vi generates white noise, filter by octave specified parameters, at the same time sends the output and begins data acquisition using DAQ assistant 2 blocks (both caused by an external function generator).  I put the exit exit DAQ assistant N samples (same number as generated by the simulation signal block) and the acquisition of input data is set to acquire more samples that block signalling simulation generates so that I continue to acquire the signal after speaker cuts wide and measure the sound field decomposition in the room.

    The problem:

The vi works perfectly except that when the speaker pauses at the end of the N samples is a notable very audible click, which must correspond to a kind of tip in the single output at the end of my example output N.  It is a big problem because it will change my measurements of the disintegration of his field. (see Appendix 1 for a screenshot of my vi)

    I tried unsuccessfully to solutions:

    (1) I thought that the click can be caused by sharply cutting the signal of excitement, so I tried to insert a block window to give a smooth envelope at the beginning and end of my signal.  The envelope fainted at the volume at well, but there was still a noticeable click and the end of the exit (after closing fade).

    (2) I tried to zero-pad to the end of the signal, thinking that I might be able to output a signal of amplitude zero while I measure the decay curve and I hope to delay the inevitable apparently, then click on until I have capture my data.  However, when I do this, my production Assistant DAQ gives me an error that the sample rate is 1 and the valid range of sampling frequencies are 800 1000 to 204.  Apparently the DAQ output is sent a single sample of my table of output data.  (see 2nd screenshot below)

I'm really puzzled, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Be it a way to correctly implement my solution #2 from above, a new method to get rid or delay the click, or if someone can point me to an existing vi that will perform the functions of noise-excitation/acquisition that I need.

FYI, the material is a PXI-4461.

    Thanks in advance!

    Michael K
