Firefox 5.0.1 open Web site automatically to a new tab from time to time which is very annoying
I have Firefox version 5.0.1 on MS windows XP. My problem is that Firefox opens a Web site automatically in a new tab from time to time, which is very annoying.
I scanned my computer against virus and malware using a lot of programs, but this has not fixed this annoying problem.
Web sites that open automatically are:

No idea how to solve this problem?
you have installed net Cup Defender I guess was completely uninstall it and the browser hijack check that you have removed the following files.

This will stop and remove netcut and the problem of redirection.
I tested in vmware and I sent the guy who did netcut and also posted it on cnet downloads.
No antivurs or malware program it will pick up, I think that it down to the activepacket.dll
This guy mentions the http://www.allmoreinfo.com/wow-netcut-defender-2-1-2-with-new-feature.html down problem

Before I reset my Firefox I could any words in the address bar and Firefox would redirect me to the Web site. For example, typing ' reservoir dogs, imdb "would redirect to the film's IMDB page, and type a random sequence of characters would take me to (for example) a website of a company that uses these characters as an abbreviation of his name.
I never put this option anywhere, it was just like that for quite a long time. Now, this possibility came to me and I can't seem to fix it.
I use Mozilla Firefox 21 laters.

In the last 24 hours (from April 27), FF4.0 became incredibly slow, unable to open many sites completely or correctly (i.e., BBC NEWS, Twitter) or the opening of sites but not able to use fully (i.e. opens hotmail but did not open any new messages). This is not the case with Chrome or I.e. browsers seems to be specific FF.
This is probably due to the WangWang (ww-plugin), you have installed. Disable it in Tools | Add ons | Plugins and then see troubleshooting issues with plugins like Flash or Java to solve problems of Firefox for instructions on how to uninstall it.
Please also go to the Plugins check page and see if the version of Flash you have installed currently needs to be updated or not. I don't recognize the version you have installed.
If the problem persists after the above troubleshooting steps, please try running Firefox in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode. If it works properly in this configuration, then one of your modules is the culprit.

(Web site) is now in full screen. Press ESC to exit. Very annoying!
This message recently started appearing when I select fullscreen in Facebook and Flickr. It is great and very annoying. It does not appear when I use Safari, so I suspect that it is generated by Firefox. How can I disable this "feature"?
I am currently using Firefox 15.01Thank you fixed it. There are a lot of options!
It was a few minutes before I realized that I had to enter: config in the address bar. -
Firefox will not load a Web site if the assets are missing from the page
Some sites Web page can try to include a CSS or JS asset that is missing. In this case, Firefox 30 seems to hang and the page never loads. This happens even in Safe Mode. Other browsers have no problem loading these pages.
I can give you two example URL, as well as the missing assets which causes the problem, but I don't know if I'm supposed to post links or not.
Please do not take into account. After returning from safe mode, it offers to reset everything and import my data. Once the browser has been reset, well not loaded loading pages.

I get the adresse_web in the toolbar, but Firefox does nothing, it just locks. It only opens Web sites when I choose one of the Favorites.
This problem may be caused by an extension (possibly AVG Safe Search) which does not work properly.
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

Do a check with some malicious software malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program.

I've upgraded to the latest Firefox, but something prevents reading Web sites that I've updated. I already tried to uninstall and reinstall.
At first, I thought it was a specific Web site, but I found that it is affecting my sites on a set path. Yet once, I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling firefox. It doesn't seem to affect one of my other internet browsers.
It would not be a problem, but most of the sites are demanding I upgraded and even disabling certain features until I do.

Opens a fine but that is as far as it goes
Hi pattscarpenter,
Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft Community. Looks like you get the message not responding when you try to open multiple Web sites.
Answer these questions that will help us provide a better solution:
1. where exactly do you get this error message?
2 have had any changes made to the computer before the question?
3. what browser do you use?
Try the steps if you get the message of Internet Explorer:
Method 1:
If Internet Explorer stops responding on a regular basis, common causes include the presence of spyware, an add-on, a computer virus, or a corrupt file that tries to access Internet Explorer
What to do if Internet Explorer stops responding
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-to-do-if-Internet-Explorer-stops-responding
Method 2:
Try the steps mentioned in this link and check if you are able to open Web sites.
If Internet Explorer crashes, stops working, or closes immediately after opening, you might get an error about Internet Explorer don't works do not or that it has encountered a problem and needs to close. The problem may be with low memory, or corrupted or missing system files. Restart the computer to clear the memory and then open Internet Explorer by itself.

What is the value of the browser.startup.homepage pref on the topic: config page?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

How to open my home page in a new tab in firefox 13, as I had done for years?
Since I've just updated to firefox 13, I can customize is no longer where a new tab opens with the 'new new tab page"feature. I got my new tab open to my homepage for years, this is how I am used to it, and it's frustrating that I've now spent so much time trying to get around this new "convenience". Just to clarify: I would like that my new tabs to open to my home page. not a white page and not frequently visited tab page.
You can change it if you don't mind not peeking under the covers in Firefox about: config preferences editor.
(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the filter box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter the desired value:
(i) (default) Page thumbnails
browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
(ii) Virgin tab
browser.newtab.url = about:blank
(iii) integrated Firefox home page
browser.newtab.url = about:home
(iv) any other page
browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page
Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?
