  WIA, even if you have it is very limited. You'd better scan to file with the software of the Epson scanner and opening it in Photoshop. TWAIN exists only for the 32-bit Photoshop, which is also installed with the 64-bit version.  Of course there is that a limit of 2 GB in memory of 32-bit Photoshop can access.

  It is possible that there is a problem with the files that store the registry extensions.
